Chapter 39
Early in the morning, Muhammad had a talk with mummy and daddy about buying a house, he wanted to buy an apartment in Abuja for them because he currently lives in a bachelor's pad, and he doesn't want his wife to be uncomfortable at all. He wants to give her all that he can.
He told them about it and they all agreed and supported his decision. He has now collected the number of a house agent from his friend Farhan and they've agreed to go and see one house tomorrow. He is excited about all of it. In a 2 weeks time, he wants to be able to move in with his wife.
He was currently in their parlor downstairs with Mummy and Abdallah talking. They were discussing stuff that needed to be done, about lefe and the house furniture. In their family, it's usually the grooms' side that furnishes the house.
"Uhmmm mummy, about the lefe I just transferred 2 million to your account, will that be enough?" He asked looking up from his phone. Mummy smiled, "That will be enough Insha Allah. Allah ya kara budi."
"Amin." They both answered.
"We'll go to the furniture store today and check them out," Mummy said and Muhammad nodded. "Thank you, mummy." He said. Mummy nodded with a smile, "Always."
Abdallah was just looking at them one after the other, "Gaskiya Nima in yi inyi aure." He pouted. Both mummy and Muhammad turned and looked at him. "Gaskiya kam." Mummy said sarcastically writing a list of some things on a notepad. Muhammad laughed shaking his head. Abdallah just rolled his eyes and turned to mummy, "Mummy, if you see ya Muhammad and Maryam even you will want what they have."
"Kaniyanka." Mummy said laughing. Muhammad shook his head, hiding his smile, "Alright I'll go now, I have some things to get done."
He went back to his room, took a shower, and got dressed in a black kaftan. He is going to go out later today, he has some errands to run, as the daughter-in-law is coming to greet her in-laws later today.
He went to the kitchen and boiled water. As he reached his hand to get a glass mug, he remembered Maryam's words. He smiled and he just couldn't take the tea again. He called the main house and asked mama talatu to fry yam for him. As he waited on that, he brought out his iPad and started reading some reports, and also did some work-related research.

Maryam woke up feeling very tired and exhausted after their long night yesterday, and today is just something else. She is so excited and nervous at the same time, she's going to Muhammad's house for the first time as the daughter-in-law of the family. It all sounds so strange to her.
She was laying amid her friends on the blanket, just thinking about Muhammad. His illness and all, still bothers her a lot, when a knock sounded on the door, she chose to ignore it at first, but it only got louder.
"Who is it so early in the morning?" She mumbled to herself as she threw Lola's arms and leg that was on her body to the side and got up. "Still a terrible sleeper." She shook her head and tsked. "I pity your husband."
She went and unlocked the door and groaned when she found their maid leaning against the doorway. "Hauwa what is it?" She rubbed her temple. Hauwa smiled nervously because she knows Maryam hates being woken up from sleep. "Ya Maryam Ina kwana." She greeted scratching her head. "Ina gajiya, an tashi Lafiya."
"Lafiya lau. Mama said you should get ready, Mairo will be here any seconds from now." She conveyed. Maryam nodded and raised her eyebrows as if anything more?
"Shikenan." She chuckled. Maryam nodded and thanked her. She turned and pushed the door, but Hauwa was quick to stop it with her foot. "Ya Maryam," she called. Maryam turned and raised her brows. "Is it true that you are married now?" She asked with curiosity
written all over her face.
Maryam nodded with a soft smile, she just loves admitting that. Hauwa shrieked excitedly. Maryam chuckled, "Shush! Do you want to wake everyone?" Hauwa covered her mouth with her palm laughing. She is so happy for Maryam.
She then frowned as remembered something. "Yanzun you're going to leave us," she said sadly. The maids get along with Maryam because she interacts with them so well. Tears filled her eyes as she remembered all of their memories, "I'm going to miss you, so much." She finally said. Maryam pulled her in for a hug saying, "I'm going to miss you too."
They had a little moment before Maryam went back to their room, took a shower, and ate her breakfast. Mairo came and started doing the skincare stuff. By the time they were finished, ya amma had brought her dress that she will wear to go greet her in-laws.

"Oh Allah, I am so nervous," Maryam said wiping her clammy palms on her dress. She was in Mama's room with Siddiqa helping her zip her dress. It was a rose gold lace fitted gown. It fitted her perfectly.
Siddiqa chuckled and raised from where she was squatting. "You're going to be just fine." Maryam pouted and sat on the vanity chair. "I'm meeting them for the first time as their daughter in law, I don't feel fine." She said as she puts on a silver zircon earring. Siddiqa smiled and stood behind her, helping her hook the necklace. "Of course you're not going to feel fine, but it's going to be okay insha Allah. Aunty adores you and we all know that."
Maryam smiled and nodded. Of course, it's going to be fine, they get along with her well. Just then Lola and Mahnur knocked and walked in. They all looked at Maryam adoringly, "Osheyy!!" Lola shouted bringing out her phone from her bag. "You look fire!" She added. Maryam smiled, "oh... thank you!" She said in a choked-up voice while pretending to fight back tears.
Mahnur playfully rolled her eyes, "see this one." They all laughed. "But seriously Muhammad wouldn't know what hit him." Lola wiggled her eyebrows taking a quick video of Maryam for her Snapchat. Maryam blushed and picked her phone from the drawer top when she saw a notification from 'Habib Albi'
They all peeked at the phone, "Habibi Albi?" Mahnur said looking at Maryam who quickly picked up the phone and clutched it because she knows how insane her friends can be. "What does it mean?" Siddiqa asked looking at them. Mahnur shrugged and they all turned to Lola. "Already checking google." She said. Maryam shook her head with a smile, "typical Lola, you're never going to change, are you?"
Lola smiled and gave her the middle finger, "that's how we roll." "Oh, here it is, here it is!" She shouted and they were all by her side in a second. "Ohhh...Love of my heart is it?"
They then slowly turned to look at her, "oh love of your heart," Siddiqa teased wiggling her eyebrows. "Yesterday it was ya Muhammad, now it's Habibi Albi what a drastic change," Lola said winking at her. Maryam stuck her tongue out at them, "go get yourself someone too, if you're jealous."
"Abun rashin mutumchi ne yanzun ko?" Mahnur said eyeing her. Maryam laughed and sat on a sofa by the corner. They all followed her with disbelieving looks. "Dama Ai all that innocent innocent act that she has been doing, I knew it was too good to be true," Lola said laughing whilst shaking her head. Maryam stuck her tongue at her again and looked down at her phone.
Muhammad had sent her a picture of his breakfast with a very beautiful message that melted her heart. "Balance my diet this morning with your wholesome smile, baby." Her eyes filled with tears. This little thing that he said to her means a lot to her. It depicts a whole lot of meaning.
She took a lot of selfies, like 20 before she found 2 that she liked. She then sent it to him with a big heart emoji. Her friends that were by the side were busy teasing saying Maryam has fallen hard. She rolled her eyes and chose to ignore them.
Muhammad that was still working saw her message. He didn't know when a smile spread across his lips as he picked his phone and saw the pictures. "Masha Allah!" He muttered under her breath. "You always manage to take my breath away baby." He typed and sent it.
"Take your breath away?!" Abdallah shrieked with laughter, as he sneaked a peek at the message from over his shoulder. Muhammad grabbed a bottle and threw it at him. "Kaniyanka." He said. Abdallah quickly dodged it, "I must say you know your way around with words brother." He said laughing. Muhammad did as if he would get up, which made Abdallah sprint to his room laughing.
Muhammad hissed and sat back down, but he just couldn't stop himself from smiling. "Stupid boy." He muttered and went back to his phone. The moment he looked at her picture, he just felt warmth engulf his heart. He set the picture as his wallpaper and went back to his work.

"All the bridesmaid should get in the blue car and the sisters should get in Khalid's car."
"Where is the bride?!"
"We have to get going."
"The bride is here!!"
They were all outside loading up the car, all ready to go to Muhammad's house, where the gaisuwa will take place. The bridesmaid escorted the bride that has her face covered with a big maroon veil to her car. Mubarak was driving her along with Siddiqa, Mahnur, Ummita, and Lola to the house. While Khalid was driving the brides' sisters and their driver was driving the bridesmaid and some of their aunties.
Maryam came out of the house crying because mama and the elders had just given her an earful and advises on how to live a peaceful marriage life. Even though she isn't leaving for Abuja now, she is staying with her in-laws until then. That's the custom of their family. They spend a day or two at their in-laws' house before taken to their house, but due to the circumstances of Maryam's wedding, she is going to have to stay there until their house is ready.
Maryam was so nervous when she came out of their house because of the number of people, their house was beginning to turn to a mega rush for the last two days. They helped her into the car, mama gave her an earful about how she should mind her behavior and all that."I'm going to miss you, mama." She said hugging mama that was bidding her adieu tighter. Mama tried to fight back her tears but just couldn't, "Allah ya bada zaman Lafiya Maryam." She prayed with a shaky voice.
She cried so hard that she knew her head was going to hurt for ages. Their relatives finally managed to rip the mother and daughter apart, before Siddiqa, Ummita, Mahnur, and Lola were ushered into the car and the door was finally closed.
She cried in the car that everyone pitied her. They let her have her share of crying, they also cried, before they consoled her. Mubarak was finding it very hard to concentrate on driving because her cries were getting to him. He just wanted to let get off everything and console her.
They managed to get her to stop crying after a few minutes. "Insha Allah everything is going to be okay," Siddiqa said and they all chorused Insha Allah. "Here let me help you." Mahnur collected the tissue Maryam was holding and helped her wipe the tears away. "Maryam, why did you cry and ruin your makeup, do you want ya Muhammad to run at the sight of you?" Lola teased. Maryam just smiled.
Ummita passed Mahnur her lip gloss to help Maryam apply it. She did and Maryam was looking okay in a matter of seconds. They arrived in a few minutes, and she drew her veil back down her face that she had drawn back for some air. "Toh bismillah." She said nervously, her heart hammering in her chest. "I don't think I've ever felt this nervous in my entire life." She said as she watched through the window as all of her sisters and bridesmaid stepped down.
"Then goes you," Ummita whispered patting her arm. "It's okay." Maryam turned and smiled and breathed out a shaky breath. "Ready." Mahnur asked. Maryam closed her eyes and nodded. Mubarak that was looking at her through the mirror and gave her thumbs up with a smile and mouthed you can do it when he caught her eyes.
Mahnur opened the door and stepped out, then Siddiqa. She stood by the door and held Maryam's hand as she stepped out of the car.
A lot of people were standing outside the house, some were yodeling while some were taking pictures and videos. Some however were just there to gossip. Maryam was lead directly inside the house. She lowered her head as his aunt, Mummy's sister came. "Sirikarmu." She said with a smile as spread her arms. Maryam loves Aunty Gee; that's what they call her. They get along so well. She wrapped her arms around her feeling a bit shy.
"Welcome home." That was what she said to her and Maryam knew she was lucky to be blessed with such a family. "Let's go." She said and held her hand. Maryam looked down and walked beside her to daddy's living room. They salamed and walked in. She could make out from the voices that mummy was in there, along with some of their aunties.
Mummy's face melted into a smile the moment she saw Maryam because she knows Muhammad has never been any luckier. Maryam is a loving and warm person. Who is soft at heart, and that is what mummy is most assured about, that she is going to take care of her son as much as he deserves.
Maryam was made to sit on the floor by the foot of the sofa mummy was seated on. Mummy took a hold of her hand and gently rubbed it, "Maryam, how are you?" She whispered. "I'm fine Alhamdulillah." She whispered. Mummy nodded and thanked Allah for a blessing in form of a person.
"Assalam Alaikum." Muhammad's grandmother's sister said. They all answered. She recited surat ul Fatiha and said some dua's. She prayed to Allah to grant them happiness, success, love, and children in their marriage. They all said Ameen to that. They finished everything, the elders left and so did most of the relatives.
The room was cleared for the bride, her bridesmaids, and her sisters to eat. She sent someone to get the maids to bring the foods.
When they brought it, mummy got up saying, "Toh let me let you guys eat kafin in hana wasu chin abinchi." She laughed and they all laughed and thanked her for the hospitality. Maryam laughed because she knew mummy was referring to her.
"You guys should better take care of my daughter if not..." she trailed off with a sparkle in her eyes. "Allah sarki mu." Ya Amma said making a face. Mummy laughed and walked out. The maids brought different kinds of food, and Jannah and Yasmin served them all.
Maryam pushed back her veil as she prepared to eat, the girl still doesn't joke with her food. She was hungry already. Jannah passed her plate. There was mandi rice, chicken, salad and a bowl of pepper soup. She said bismillah as she dug in.
They were halfway through their meal when Muhammad salaamed and walked in. The scent of cologne hit her nose first before she even saw his. As usual, he was smelling good. She thought and she looked up. His eyes were just searching for her, ever since he heard about their arrival, he has been eager to see her, and there she is.
He was dressed in a white kaftan with a brown Zanna bukar cap, he looked handsome. Ten outta ten, over the top.
When their eyes met. The smile he sent her got her feeling all sorts of jingles inside. "Ina wuni ango." The bridesmaids and sisters of the bride greeted him. They exchanged pleasantries. He was so eager to see his wife properly and she was eager to hear his voice, but she didn't show it, instead, she looked down.
He managed to keep their conversation short, then walked to her side and sat beside her. "Baby." He called in a husky tone that sends chills down her body. She slowly looked up at him. "You are so beautiful." He said looking her over. She blushed, "thank you, so are you." He just couldn't take his eyes off her.
