Wang Yibo's POV:

"Long time, Lan Zhan" he smirks.

He's back. I... I am unable to move.

Wei Wuxian is back.

"Wei?" I call after softly.

"Made you wait for a long time, haven't I?" His words are a caress to my soul. He walks forward and caresses my cheeks "Still the same" he gazes into my eyes "Your eyes have  always been a window to my soul, I apologise to have made you wait".

He's about to say something when the door from above the basement opens and we hear footsteps.
He immediately turns around covers me with his body and growls at the intruders using his Chenqing.

"Wei" I whisper "stop" he freezes and yet again falls onto the ground.

"Wei" we all scream.

Xiao Zhan's POV:

Feeling nauseated, I turn and puke out blood. Feeling one hand pat my back gently, the other wipes my mouth.

"Drink this" unable to open my eyes, I drink as commanded. Refreshing.

Slowly I urge my eyes to open and I see Angels concerned face. I know my smile vanishes when I am bombarded with memories in a haze. So many memories like a movie in fast motion. Nauseated again, I vomit blood.

Unable to keep my eyes open, I fall asleep.

Feeling a little better, I open my eyes to see it's night time. I turn and find Angel sleeping beside me, holding my hand. I cover him with the blanket and leave the bed to use the washroom. On my way I pass the mirror and look at myself.

Wei Wuxian I smirk. Good, my looks haven't changed. Still the handsome hunk you're.

Xiao Zhan the name is whispered. I smile. So I did take your name afterall. If not by marriage, by re-birth. After using the facility, I walk out only to stop and quietly see my Lan Zhan sleeping.

Lan Zhan, you're the only reason I am back. I promise you, I won't ever leave you. Will you believe me?

Unable to leave him, but knowing he needs his rest, I leave the bedroom. Walking around the house, I recognise the expanse. So many things have changed, yet many similarities are there. It's surprising that I didn't remember any of them.

Walking over to the garden, I watch the night sky when I hear him beside me.

"How are you feeling?"

I turn and observe him. He's still the same. Same face. Same smile. Same aura. I bow slightly "Brother Xi Chen" I grin.

"Wei Wuxian" he smiles too. He gestures me to sit with him and offers me the bottle of water in his hand, I take it and he questions "Do you remember everything?"

I shake my head "Not everything, there are a lot of missing pieces in my memory, but I do remember few of them." I point towards the bedroom "I remember Lan zhan the most" I smile. "I remember Shijie, you and Wen Ning"

"Do you remember how you became Yiling patriarch?"

"Bits and pieces" I look at him "before all that tell me about Lan Zhan".

Xi Chen's eyes widen and I laugh "Don't be surprised, I am back because of him. I know he has waited for me to return. I know he has loved only one. I know, I am his only one" I wipe the blood away from my nose "Tell me everything about my Lan Zhan. Please"

"You need to rest Wei, I'll tell you everything tomorrow" he pleads.

I shake my head "That man, has spent eternity waiting for me. When I go back to him, when I face him the next time, I want him to know, I longed for him too. I yearned for him too. Help me".

Sigh, Xi Chen smiles sadly and agrees "First let me tell you the entire story of your life, then you shall know the pain of Wangji".

And he starts.

Hearing my story, it feels surreal. The happiness, the laughter, the pain the anguish. Everything.

"After your death, Wangji was truly all alone." He takes a deep breath, his hands are shaking slightly "to protect you, he went against the elders with a hope that you'd live but you didn't. He was shattered. He had no one to turn to. He walked towards every corpse with a hope that it could be you, but you were never to be found. He came back to Gusu, only to be shunned by everyone. Uncle punished him severely, for disobeying the rules" brother has a glazed look "That day Wangji shed blood for you, Wei. He was whiplashed. To such an extent that, he was bedridden for three years."

Hearing all this, my heart aches. My Lan Zhan being whipped. I feel the blood ooze out from my mouth and I quickly wipe it. Lan Zhan, if only I...

"Every time he was whipped, he recited the rules but behind them was your name. He never forgot about you. In those three years, never once did he ever sleep. In all that pain, he always called your name" he looks at me "when his condition improved, the first thing he did was leave the clan and search heaven and earth for you".

Lan Zhan.

"He never gave up on you. Like a lunatic he roamed every where asking of your whereabouts, but no one knew, Wei. No one knew anything about you. He went in search of Wen Ning but he was fast fading too. When Wen Ning knew about Wangji's plight, till the end, he was the only companion, who could understand Wangji. It was Wen Ning's death that made Wangji realise that you might never come back. It didn't stop my brother's yearn though. He never stopped searching. Everytime the wind blew, everytime the dews enveloped the earth, my brother looked for you."

He looks around "My brother never asked for anything. Not from uncle. Not from me. Not from you. All he wanted was for you to come back. I never understood how my brother the great Hanguang Jun could ever fall in love so deeply that he never blamed anyone but himself"

At that I ask "why?"

"Because he did not believe you at first when you started the diabolical practice. He was against it. He knew, you would change. After you left us, there was never a day or night when he hadn't missed you. When he chose to be with you and not the clan, we were all angry, but as they say 'a heart is what a heart wants'. He blamed himself because be couldn't save you. He couldn't confess his feelings to you. He couldn't help you. He was not aware of the golden core." He chuckles sadly and what he says next, was absolutely shocking "Do you know Wei, before Laz Zhan left us, he once told me 'had Wei told me about his golden core, I'd have happily given him mine'"

"What?" I cough the pain in my heart increases and spout more blood.

"Wei please, get some rest" Xi Chen pleads. I shake my head.

"Continue" I rasp.

Sighing he continues "He was ready to give up everything for his love. For you."

"How did he...did he pass?" I cough.

Xi Chen gently pats my back "After that conversation, he asked me to keep your Chenqing and his Zither safely. He told me one day, they would be played again. The Sui Bian and Bichen are partners never to be separated. The portrait of yours was drawn by him in your memory. He left these with me and walked away from everything he could call his never to look back. I never saw Wangji and no one ever heard of him again. He became a memory that no one spoke of in Gusu sect"

A tear rolls from his eyes "my brother loved you and only you. Please don't leave him again"

Looking straight at Xi Chen I promise it from my heart "This lifetime, my Lan Zhan would be cherished and it's a promise. I would never leave him".

He smiles and gives me his blessing.

Slowly walking back to my Lan Zhan, I promise him my heart, my soul, my eternity.

Now whether Wei's bleeding has got to do anything with the memories or something else... We need to wait and watch.
