Jotunheim held a type of beauty that was rare in the current universe. If one could overcome the biting cold and the rage fuelled frost giants, then it was truly a place to be admired.
Wanda hadn't believed Loki at first when he told her they were going to Jotunheim. She'd only been joking when she brought up her technical royalty - yet Loki seemed intent on making it official.
They'd sought out Heimdall before Thor could come and visit them. Peter and Pietro had agreed to stay behind and offer excuses as to their whereabouts until they returned. Judging by the mischievous smirk on her twin's face, Wanda knew that Thor would most likely give up trying to find them out of pure annoyance.
Heimdall had called the Bifrost and sent them on their way, with no more than a curious glance. By this point, he had learned to trust Loki - as much as one could trust the God of Mischief - and no longer ask about his off world activities.
It was quiet when they arrived on Jotunheim. The planet was dark and there was no one in sight. Since there was no sun on a planet made of ice, Wanda had trouble figuring out the exact time of day - it could be noon or midnight for all she knew.
They second the Bifrost faded, Wanda had broken out into shivers, the force of which caused her whole body to tremble violently. She liked to think she was used to the cold - Sokovian winters could be brutal, and considering she spent a number of those winters sleeping on the streets, she had built up a tolerance for the cold.
Loki saw her sudden shift from the corner of his eye. Truth be told, he'd completely forgotten about protecting his witch from the sub-zero temperatures. Every time he'd visited a planet with extreme weather conditions such as this, he'd been with people more durable than humans. Although the people of Asgard would still be negatively affected by the cold, it would not cause the same amount of damage as it would to humans.
He cursed in a language that he was certain Wanda would not understand, and muttered a temperature charm under his breath.
Wanda visibly relaxed.
It felt very surreal to call herself a Queen - and not just as a joke, but rather a real and true Queen. Pietro had once jokingly called her The Queen of Chaos, and whilst she laughed and found it rather fitting, it did not make her a royal.
She had no idea what being the Queen of Jotunheim would entail. She could barely take care of herself - often relying on Pietro to remind her to even take care of basic needs. Ruling an entire nation was different - and a nation of Jotuns at that. Would they even accept her?
Loki was barely accepted when he first travelled to Jotunheim - granted he was a part of Thor's mini-invasion and that would of course not earn a welcoming party. His crawl to the throne had been hard, but he had eventually been accepted as King.
She, however, was human. An extremely overpowered human, but a human nonetheless.
Thoughts and questions swirled in her head, as they trekked towards their destination. Despite all her reservations, at the end of the day it would no longer matter - she would become Queen in all ways that mattered, both in terms of sheer power and lineage.
The plans had been hatched in secret - they would go to Heimdall, seeking passage to Jotunheim and he willingly gave it, just as they had expected. They'd travel to the old ruins, ones that had been abandoned centuries ago in favour of the new ice palace - there they would an ancient spell that would not only grant her the power of most Frost Giants, but also a slightly diluted strain of Loki's own magic. It would also gift Loki would some of her own magic - like they had a shared power source that they could draw on at any time and in any place, no matter the distance from each other.
Whilst Pietro and Peter had been happy to provide various excuses, they had no idea what they were actually doing. Pietro had waggled his eyebrows suggestively - much to his twins disgust - and Peter just tried to avoid eye contact. They didn't offer up any other excuse beyond travelling to Asgard, at which point the boys had stopped asking - just promising to distract Thor, and no doubt cause mayhem in the process.
As they entered the ruins, Wanda imagined different outcomes to the various tricks her brother and his soulmate could create.

The Titan sat and watched the image in front of him. His plans had been simple to begin with. Collect the stones, eliminate the largest threats, before creating a new universe - one where no one would suffer as the beings of his planet suffered.
But the emergence of enhanced beings such as the Avengers, had thrown a stone into his carefully created plan. He'd watched as he sent that God off to take over Midgard - and watched as its inhabitants fought so hard to protect it. Clearly the people of Midgard did not see the suffering they were living through. They did not see the shortage of resources, the lack of space on their dying planet.
He did not understand why they fought so hard to protect a world that they were slowly killing.
But it did not matter - for he would make them see, make them understand.
He would gather the stones, complete his mission. And then, he would rest.
