Loki could hear Thor's footsteps behind him, stalking through the woods towards the brother he believed to be causing mischief.

"Loki! Stop this madness and come home." He bellowed.

Loki didn't reply, only turned and raised an eyebrow. It was clear to anyone who may wander past that he was not wreaking havoc, he was simply standing in the woods. Thor's rage was already boiling to the surface, all it would take was a few witty comments and he would quite possibly explode.

"What madness is that brother?" He gestured to the land around him. It was as if he wasn't there, everything was in place. "I'm simply admiring the scenery."

"She will not want to see you, brother."

"And how do you presume to know what she wants?"

Thor stammered slightly. He had no doubt that Wanda would want to see Loki, but he was afraid. Afraid of the power they held, his brothers' insatiable need for power and Wanda's unstable powers made for a dangerous combination.

"I will not enter that building today. But if she comes out here, you will not be stopping me brother. Do you understand?" Loki's tone left no room for argument.

Thor paused in his worry. He could see the fury on his brother's face - he was not exactly hiding it - but beneath it, he could see his desperation. After so many years of waiting, ignoring the scribbled messages from his soulmate and the small items carelessly tossed away, he was finally in a place where he could meet her and, perhaps, apologise for his silence.

"Yes," he paused for a moment, as if debating what to say, "and should my friends follow her with the intention of separating you, then I will do all in my power to stop them."

Loki smiled then. Only a small one and had he been conversing with anyone else, they would have missed it. But Thor had spent almost his entire life with Loki, and to gain such a smile out of his brother was a true accomplishment indeed.

"And while we wait," Thor continued, "why were you in Jotunheim?"

Loki glanced to the side at his brother, trying to decipher if he was truly curious, or already knew and wanted to scold him for it. However, Thor seemed to have completely relaxed after his earlier tantrum. He was leaning back against a tree, not even looking at Loki at all.

"Claiming my throne as King." Loki said it almost casually, as if he were telling Thor about the weather. Thor didn't look surprised. In fact, he grinned.

"Then can I perhaps count on Jotunheim not to go to war with Asgard anytime soon?"

Loki chuckled to himself. "Depends on my mood."

The brotherly moment was ruined by the sound of rumbling in the west. Both brothers looked to the area with concern and were greeted with the sight of the Avengers' compound shaking at the foundations.

"Is that-?" Loki didn't finish his question, eyes glued to the shaking building as red tendrils of light warped around the shaking structure.

"That's her magic." Thor answered the unfinished question.

A blue streak darted out the door and into the forest. Thor's intake of breath was very audible, and Loki looked at his brother questioningly. Thor's eyes were set on the treeline that the light had disappeared into.

"Go."

There was a breath of silence.

"That was her brother," there was no doubting who the 'her' in question was, "and if he's escaping a building that she caused to almost collapse then she must be with him. I will deal with my friends when they make it out."

After walking for a few minutes, the twins felt themselves relax slightly - the trees provided enough cover for them to escape their teammates, not that any of them wanted to go near them after Wanda's little stunt with the faux-earthquake.

Pietro however, seemed nervous. He kept glancing back to the building they had escaped from, not out of fear of being followed, but rather fear of not being followed. Like he'd left someone behind in the crumbling building.

Wanda felt like kicking herself. The figurines Pietro had received from his soulmate when they were children - from a wildly popular series that a certain team mate of theirs loved. The textbook dropped at his feet a few days prior - a book that Peter had come looking for the following hour.

And of course her brother's sudden obsession with spiders.

The revelation had been on the edge of her mind for weeks, she'd just never fully connected the dots.

Peter was her brother's soulmate.

"Go, get him out and tell him I am sorry."

Pietro hesitated slightly, slightly worried about what may happen to his sister if he left her alone. As if the women who nearly brought down the entire compound would be in serious danger if left alone. Wanda nodded to the building and raised an eyebrow, as if ordering him to go back.

With that he disappeared back off in the direction of the compound.

Wanda trekked off further into the woods with no particular destination in mind. Hopefully if she walked for long enough she would be able to find Loki or perhaps be able to at least pick up on his magic and follow the trail.

The sound of a twig snapping on her right caught her attention. Red magic curled around her hands - surely the Avengers' hadn't caught up with her that quickly had they?

She turned slowly, letting her magic spiral and float to the ground, curling around her feet.

Behind her stood Loki, eyes wide and mouth agape. Within an instant, her magic receded back into her hands and tears welled in her eyes. For a few moments, they stood there - not moving, just staring at each other. That was until Loki moved forward those last few steps so he could give her something dangling from his hand.

"I seems only right I give this back to you."

The medallion lay in his outstretched hand. Wanda let out a sound between a laugh and a sob. She took the medallion in her hand without saying a word. For a moment they're hands lingered, holding the medallion between them as a world of green and red light swirled around them.

They're magic had burst forth, intertwining with the other and lighting up the entire forest. As the colours faded ever so slightly, Wanda pulled the old ring off of her finger and held it out.

"Well in that case, this is yours."

He took it with a smile.

The sweet moment was broken by the sound of hurried footsteps rushing through the woods. However, not a human speed.

Pietro and Peter burst into sight, Peter looking slightly disorientated by the speed at which he had just travelled. At the sight of Loki his eyes widened slightly, but he made no move to back away or even attack. Pietro must have offered some form of explanation.

"They got out and they're coming." Pietro said.

Wanda huffed slightly, of course they would interrupt.

"Well then, little witch." Loki began with a slight smirk on his face. Wanda grinned at the nickname. "What do you say we show them what happens to people that stand in our way?"

"Yes, lets."
