As the light faded, Wanda admired her surroundings. The Norwegian countryside was truly a beauty, gorgeous green hills, cliffs that dropped right the way down to sea level and a cute little village nestled down near the water. That must be New Asgard. She understood why they settled here; the area was beautiful.
A groan from her left drew her attention away from the scenery.
Loki was clutching his side, blue blood seeping from an open wound with a slight tint of green to it. Poison, not enough to kill a god, but certainly enough to weaken him considerably - enough that should anyone attempt to kill him in his weakened state, it would be incredibly hard for him to fend them off.
As his legs gave out, Wanda was there to catch Loki as he fell, only just managing to keep him and herself upright. Thor rushed to his other side, worry filling his features.
It must have been Natasha – she was the only one likely to carry poison; especially one as strong as this.
"It's a poison dart, Natasha has them. I can get it out but not here." Wanda pleaded. It was probably not the best idea to perform magic surgery in a field.
Thor nodded and said nothing else as he slung Loki's arm around his shoulder. As if sensing that Wanda would not let go of Loki, Thor allowed her to hold onto his other side despite him carrying all of his brother's weight.
Wanda was too focused on Loki to notice the stares following them. Although they were only on the outskirts of the village, people had ventured out at the sight of the Bifrost. Loki hadn't been seen in days and the addition of three people, one of whom was clinging to the God of Mischief's side.
Thor's glare could cut glass as he marched his mismatched group through the town to Loki's house. They arrived at Loki's house quickly, Peter and Pietro forcing open the door and then sweeping the various books from the bed onto the floor. Had he not been suffering from the effects of poison and if didn't think Wanda would stab him for it he would've sent the pair scurrying away from the house with nightmares racing through their head.
Despite how gently they tried to place him on his bed, Loki flopped down with a groan. He liked to think he had a considerably high pain tolerance, but this poison was working its way through his system quick - making him feel exhausted and not from the fight about ten minutes prior.
Wanda was searching around the kitchen franticly. Even though they had only just officially met, the sight of Loki weak from the effects of poison left her desperate. Thor moved to intercept her as she scurried back and forth, checking all the cabinets and drawers for what she needed.
He caught her by the shoulders and gave her a pleading look. "Be with him, I shall collect what you need."
"Okay... Uh, I need a knife, a jar and something that will numb his pain."
Thor nodded and began collecting the various required items from around the kitchen. He placed the jar and knife on the cabinet behind the bed and went back to the kitchen to create a paste that he hoped would heal his brother's pain. It was now that he regretted not paying more attention during the lessons in healing that his mother gave.
Loki was always the prodigal student when it came to anything that didn't require bloodshed. Magic, healing, politics – perhaps that is why he was so desperate to become king, he could do it better.
Odin was a king that relied on bloodshed and with how he was raised, there was no doubt that Thor would follow in his footsteps. When Loki masqueraded as Odin, Asgard had prospered. Peace was brought to the nine kingdoms and in the short time he had been king of Jotunheim, that peace had returned.
After the paste had become the correct colour, Thor brought it over to the bedside cabinet and watched as Wanda worked.
First she grasped the knife. She looked apologetic at Loki, but if she was to get out all the poison then she needed to keep the wound open. With Loki's accelerated healing, the wound was closing too quickly, trapping the poison inside.
"This is going to hurt."
Loki nodded with a grimace. He wasn't too worried about the pain. More about the fact that it was Wanda that would be the one stabbing him. "Go on then, Darling."
Wanda brought the knife down quickly, better the pain be over quickly than let him feel the knife slowly slicing through skin. She turned to the other three men, all of whom where lingering somewhere around the bed. Peter – being the only one not used to violent bloodshed – was standing a little further back from the group looking slightly queasy.
"Someone hold this." Pietro didn't move. Despite how much he wanted to help his sister and her soulmate, Thor would be a better hand than him during a magical surgery – given Pietro's love for speed, he had a hard time standing still. The blade would go all over the place if he was the one holding it.
Thor came forward and held the handle of the blade and watched with awe as Wanda drained the poison from his brother's body. Using her magic, she summoned the poison from his blood and transferring it into the jar. Her brow narrowed in concentration as she attempted to separate the poison from the blood. The poison from the initial stab had been the hardest to separate.
She didn't really need to go through the trouble – another couple of days and with the help of accelerated healing it would be completely out of his system. However, that was two days of Loki being constantly exhausted, two days of perpetual weakness. Two days of not being able to fend off an attack should the Avengers find them.
When the green substance had been fully removed, she screwed the lid back onto the jar and put it on the side.
She took the knife back from Thor and pulled it out of the wound as quickly and precisely as possible – no use tearing it open more in her haste to remove it. Using her magic to pull the two side of the wound closed and then covered the remaining scar with the healing paste.
Loki breathed a sigh of relief, already he was feeling better.
"Well then. Now that you're no longer poisoned, perhaps we can discuss what to do next." Thor said.
Loki and Wanda looked at each other, the gravity of what had just happened hitting them. Just how many Avengers they had angered, how many threats they had made.
The consequences of that was going to hit them like a train.
