Anyone remember what happens now? 🤔

EIGHTEEN

It might sound stupid, but I felt like I was ambushing Brianna.
Harry and I showing up at her house together to talk when we were never invited.
When she was clear in not wanting me to be there, to be close to Freddie at all.

"What's the plan?" - I asked Harry, before even knocking on the door.

"Talk to her." - Harry smiled, reassuringly. - "We're going to speak calmly, trying to understand her side, then you can explain your side and see if she understands you want to be able to see your son. Even if she ends up moving, you can both take turns with him. But for that, you both need to have this talk."

I swallowed the knot in my throat and nodded.

"And you're here to keep me calm?" - I smiled at him, receiving a playful pinch in my arm in return.

"If it's necessary."

"Can I have a kiss?" - I pouted.

"All the kisses you want, babe." - Harry smiled, leaning down to kiss me. - "Better?" - He whispered into my lips.

"One more?"

"Mhmm..." - He mumbled, kissing me again. - "Now?"

I grinned up at him.

"Okay, yeah. I'm ready." - I took a deep breath. - "Let's do this."

Nerves were consuming my insides, but I knew this was my last chance to get what I wanted in the right way.
After this, there was no other choice that involving lawyers.

And that was a step I didn't want to take unless it was my absolute last option. After all, this was the mother of my son.

I dried my hands on my jeans and finally rang the doorbell.

Few seconds later she opened the door and we could see Freddie behind her legs. He had a big smile on his face when he recognized us.

As for Briana, I couldn't exactly say the same.

"Teacher Harry!" - Freddie ran and wrapped his arms around Harry's leg.

Harry looked at me nervously as he patted his head. I only shrugged.
There wasn't much I could do.

Brianna clearly didn't like Freddie's reaction or our appearance at her doorstep, because was looking at us with a murdering look.

"Hi buddy." - Harry whispered, caressing Freddie's shoulder.

"Dad!" - Freddie now ran towards me, extending his arms up for me to pick him up.

"Hello little lad." - I took him on my arms, holding him tightly.

"I missed you." - He said into my neck.

"I missed you too." - I whispered into his ear.

"What are you doing, Louis?" - Brianna said with a sour expression.

"I'm here to talk to you."

"Ha. And you brought him?" - She snorted. - "None of you are putting a foot in my house."

I kissed Freddie's hair and put him down in the ground again.

"Brianna, please. We're not here to fight. I want to find a solution that can work for both of us."

"Freddie, get inside the house." - Briana said firmly.

"Go, buddy." - Harry smiled at him, softly pushing him inside.

"Don't talk to him." - Brianna said to Harry.

"Hey. Calm down, we are here in good faith." - I said.

"I don't want Freddie to hear this conversation." - She stated. - "Or whatever this is."

Freddie was hiding behind Harry's legs now.
I crouched down and took him up in my arms again, this time moving forward and entering the house.

"C'mon, let's get inside little lad."

"Is teacher Harry coming?" - He said pointing at Harry while I walked inside the house.

I turned around and Harry was still on the door frame. Briana wasn't letting him get inside. I sighed at her.

"Can we please the three of us have an adult conversation?" - I said exhausted.

"I don't get why he's here." - She said.

"Please." - I sighed, leaving Freddie on the couch and turning fully to her. - "He's here to help us not scream at each other and eventually scare our son."

She looked back at Harry who was still outside and let him in, closing the door behind him. Freddie ran again towards Harry and extended his arms so he would lift him up. But Briana approached him first and took him up from the floor in her arms.

"You are going to stay in your room for a while, baby."

"But Dad's here!"

"Your Dad and I are going to talk for a bit, yeah? You can see him later." - She kissed his cheek. - "Go play with your new crayons, please?"

"Okay Mama." - He pouted.

She took him out to the bedroom and Harry came to where I was standing to take my hand in his, firmly.

"Everything is going to be fine." - He assured me.

"I doubt it."

"Trust me."

Brianna returned seconds later and sat on a chair, keeping her fair distance from us.
We sat on the couch in front of her.

"So?" - She asked. - "What?"

"I'm here because I don't want to be away from him. I won't accept it. So I'm kindly asking you to let me be in my son's life."

"You're completely out of your mind. I already told you, Louis. You aren't in a place of asking anything from me."

"I won't lie anymore. Harry and I are together, yes. But that won't affect my love for Freddie in any way. What else do you want from me?"

"We're moving, Louis. Nothing you say will change that." - She said. - "Besides, the fact that you even started dating him, was the main reason Freddie got aggressive and on edge all the time. I need to protect him from you."

"Brianna, with all my respect." - Harry started. - "I've noticed the violent drawings Freddie did way before I met Louis."

"Stay out of this conversation." - She said.

I took a deep breath, trying really hard not to yell at her and thinking forward.
I squeezed Harry's hand and he turned to me.

"I'm fine." - Harry whispered. - "Keep going, you're doing great."

I nodded, looking back at Brianna.

"Look. You got mad when Harry tried suggesting therapy for Freddie, right?" - I asked and she nodded. - "Well, Harry and I weren't together. We weren't even dating. Nothing. He was just looking out for our son. As his teacher. Because as I told you thousand times, he knows about this! Whatever struggle Freddie's going through, is our fault. Mine and yours, Brianna. You need to understand that."

"And, I'm sorry for interrupting you, Lou." - Harry said, touching my knee. - "But, Brianna, I never intended to intrude into your family. I genuinely wanted to help from my position of educator."

"So, you're both blaming Freddie's problems on me?"

"No." - I said. - "On us. Our constant fighting, our break up, everything. We need to figure a way for to get along, B. Please. He needs us both."

"And still you brought Harry here. To my house. As if he was a part on all of this."

"You made him a part of this. Blaming it all on him."

"You made him part of this! You were the one dating him!"

"You understand that my relationship with Freddie has nothing to do with Harry, right? For god sakes, Freddie loves Harry. You've seen it today. He likes being around him."

"But I don't like him being around my son."

"Why do you get to choose who Freddie spends his time with? And I can't even see him. It's my son too."

"You've lost your right to spend time with him, when you slept with his teacher."

I gasped.

"You're going too damn far, Brianna."

"I'm just stating the obvious. Our son, he changed these past months. When did it all started?"

"I get it." - I sighed. - "But none of that is Harry's fault, okay? It's ours. That's why you need to stay here, so we can both help him together. Help him be better. We need to work together."

"We're moving. That's final."

"Briana, sorry for intruding." - Harry spoke. - "If I'm the problem, I'm willing to step back, to be away every time Louis meets his son. I can stay away and not bother you or Freddie, but please don't let that kid grow up without his father. He needs both of you."

"I think I didn't made myself clear, we're moving."

"Oh my god, Briana. I can't believe what you're saying, you can't be like this! You are forcing me to stop seeing my child?!" - I yelled at her.

Harry squeezed my shoulder, grounding me on the couch so I wouldn't jump and cut her throat.

"What are you willing to compromise, Brianna?" - Harry asked, calmly. - "Is there anything Louis can do or say that can change your mind?"

"No." - She shrugged.

"What if he wanted to follow you to the States?"

Brianna laughed.

"He's too busy with his work to ever leave London."

"And even if you move with Freddie, could Louis travel back and forth to visit him, or would you forbid him from doing that too?"

"Louis isn't the best for Freddie right now. I'm protecting my son."

"Louis isn't the best because he's with me, right?"

"That's one of the reasons."

"Okay. But you just said that I was the main reason Freddie got this way, right? That makes me the problem." - Harry asked her and she nodded. - "And Louis being with me was what convinced you to move out of the country?"

"Yes."

"What if Louis isn't with me anymore, that way would you accept him back in Freddie's life?"

"What are you trying to do?" - I asked him.

"What if I broke up with him? Right here, right now. I would be stepping back, so that way Freddie can have his parents back." - Harry said. - "Wouldn't it be better for Freddie to have you and Louis united? I'm sure that would make him happy."

"Harry, what the hell?" - I asked him.

"Brianna." - Harry continued, ignoring me. - "If I'm out of the equation, would you still move out and take Freddie away from Louis?"

"I don't know."

"Do you think you could try and give Louis a chance of being a present father? Do you think you could stay in London for a little longer?"

"I guess."

Harry let go my hand and stood up from the couch.

"Louis, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be in the middle of you and your son, he's more important than me right now. He deserves to have you in his life." - Harry said, avoiding my eyes. - "I'm breaking up with you."

"What?" - I breathed out.

"Consider me out of the equation." - He shrugged. - "It's better this way."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I had to blink a couple of times to realize he was actually being serious in that moment.

I stood up, taking him by his wrist to stop him from leaving the house.

"Harry, please think of what you're saying."

"I do know what I'm saying." - Harry looked at me and got a step closer, then whispered. - "Now go and get your son back."

He took a step back, and started walking towards the door.

"Harry wait!"

"No, Louis. She made it clear. Please don't try to reach me. Enjoy your time with your family. Don't leave that kid alone."

"Harry." - I whispered, feeling my heart clenching inside my chest.

He returned closer to me, smiling sadly.

"This will help you win this shit." - He whispered, brushing the back of his hand with mine discreetly. - "It's enough, Louis. I don't want to be part of this drama." - He said louder, taking a step back. - "It's not worth it."

"I..." - I mumbled, not knowing what to say. - "Are we done?" - I asked, still unbelieving.

"Yes. Don't try to reach me."

"But..." - I frowned, still not understanding the situation or the words Harry had just spoken.

"Sorry, Louis. It's just too much." - He shrugged, turning his back to me. - "You're all going to be better without me in the picture." - He said once he reached the door, holding the doorknob. - "Goodbye."

And with that he left the house, taking a piece of my heart with him.
