Chapter 7

Hera's P.O.V

"You gotta talk to her sometime," Zeb nagged. I massaged my temples. A headache began not to long after the Ghost members and survivors barely escaped the base. We've been walking hours on end unknown to when reaching the end of this darn forest. Now, Zeb is getting on my nerves on talking to Sabine while also thinking of a plan.

"If I had the time and wasn't leading a group of what's left of the rebel base, I would have done it a long time ago. Besides, it was my fault for leaving Ahsoka. I should of-"

"Don't you dare say another word," Zeb huffed. "You did everything in your power, and so did she, to protect as many survivors as possible. That is what she would have wanted, to protect people who've sacrificed many things to be here and continue to fight alongside us."

   He had a point there.

"Including," he continued, "the ones that still need your guidance and reassurance." I growled in frustration when realizing what his game was. The warrior wanted me to talk to Sabine.

"I will talk to Sabine later-"

"I'm not just talking about Sabine," he cut me off. I looked up at the buff man to see his head nudge back. My eyes followed back and that's when I realized what he meant.

"I didn't realize how many young rebels we have until now," I spoke quietly.

The group of survivors was made up of pretty much young people. Some were crying on another's shoulder and others seemed confused, in shock with what went down. Terrified and lost souls that didn't deserve any of the horrific and gory stuff that happened hours ago.

"These kids need a leader, Hera," Zeb said. I stopped walking for a moment which made everyone else halt their walking as well. I could hear their whispers whether it was to comfort or theories on why I stopped walking.

Turning around, I placed my hands on my hips and looked at each individual face with a new found confidence.

"Why did you stop walking?" Cornelius asked, loudly. Sabine elbowed him in the ribs, making the old man lean forward in pain. The end of my lip twitched a bit, seeing Sabine back to her normal self.

"Every one of us regrets something we've done in our life. For me, it was losing two members of my team, letting Ahsoka go to the enemy, and fighting with someone I care for dearly," I began, glancing at Sabine before continuing to the others.

"We've been through and lost a lot today. I bet most of you are shocked and scared for what will happen next. I'm sorry for that and not being a good leader this whole time. Walking around ominously and acting like sitting ducks isn't going to do us any good."

"How exactly are we supposed to do anything? We have no weapons or supplies," Cornelius pointed out.

"Shut up you old hag!" Sabine yelled, glaring at him.

"Hey, that's mister old hag to you!" The scientist replied, crossing his arms.

"My point is..." I said, giving the two a hard look.

"We need to figure out the Empire's main source, their goal and destroy it. I bet it's the reason for the disappearance of the Infected."

"Isn't that a good thing the Infected are gone?" Someone asked.

"I have a feeling the Infected's disappearance was merely a distraction for something way worse than what we are expecting..." I explained.

"...and it has to do with that soul sucker demon."

Ezra's P.O.V

Click.

I opened snapped my eyes open, face suddenly meeting with the cool surface of the floor. A grunt escaped my lips before weakly getting onto my hands and knees. Blinking a couple time to focus my vision, a figure walked into the cell.

As quick as possible, I got to my feet and ran at the figure to punch whoever it was. The figure's hand stopped me before gripping a full wade of my hair. I gazed up, vision now clear enough to see the fake with an amused smile.

"My my, aren't you quite the fighter," he spoke, eyebrow raised sinisterly. I gritted my teeth and tried to throw a punch at his face but was thrown across the room, hitting the wall. I yelled when my head and back collided with the wall with a hard crack.

"Maybe you could be useful to our cause but it seems you have an even bigger purpose than I originally thought," the fake added, scanning me as if observing a new specimen.

"Once I escape, you better pray because that will be the only thing that will protect you. Although, that won't even be enough to save your soul," I spat back.

"Big talk for someone so tiny," the phony quipped. I glared at the man when feeling a familiar sensation in the palm of my hands.

"Yes, teach this worthless fool what true power looks like. Show him what it's like to be thrown around just like he's done to you."

Shaking my head, I took deep, calming breaths in and out. No, there was no way I was going to fall for the old trick. It seemed to take the phony by surprise at my residence. I was in control now and there was no way I'm going to let anyone pull the strings for me. Like I was some puppet.

A different power surged within myself. It was lighter and warm. Different.

"Sorry..." I innocently, apologized then got to my feet shakily. "...but I'm not."

Smirking, I raised my hand and aimed it at the fake. He was taken back by my sudden move that he didn't have time to move away from a blast of hot, white light shoot out of my hand.

It was a direct hit on his chest. Slowly and sloppily, he got to his feet while holding his chest in pain. Anger flashed in his eyes. Troopers came around the corner and pointed their guns at me.

"Don't shoot!" The fake yelled, voice rasping. The troopers were distracted for a moment, giving me time to shoot them down. The fake glared at me but his figure began to morph, melt away.

"Kallus," I spat. The man laughed maniacally with an insane look in his eyes.

"You really think that you are all powerful now that you can control your powers. But you are no match for what's coming," he laughed then started to cough. I was taken back when Kallus fell back onto the floor.

I walked over to the agent when seeing some greens, whites and pinks growing out of his chest, vines and flowers.
