Chapter.04
Troubled.
Ryan stared at the blood written wall with wide eyes from both shock and disbelief. One of his best friends laid up against that cherrywood wall with her mouth sowed shut an her eyes missing. Her once beautiful skin was now a milky pale while the skin under her eyes bagged low..the smell of death surrounded her.
He placed his hand over his nose to cover it as tears threatened to come out of his hazel eyes. This was the worst one yet to come and he knew it because of that message.
Payback Comes Tonight.
The blood was dry and he could only stare at it. Usually his friend Krism would be the one to come tell him what she suffered and how she died but not anymore. Why? Because she was in the kitchen with her legs chopped off and a bucket of her own blood beside her with the same exact paintbrush used to paint this message dipped into it.
Sick? Define sick. This shit was twisted.
He took a deep breath as a hand was placed on his shoulder, it was Smitty. His long time partner who was always by his side when he needed him. "She was a good woman Ryan. A good woman who didn't deserve to die...just like Krism." Although his words were kind they somehow made him angry.
"No one deserves to die detectives," Someone said. "Death is something we all wish to avoid but unfortunately that's not how this place works."
They turned around to see a woman with jaw length blonde hair and through her lenses you could see cold green eyes, a badge placed above her left breast pocket. It wasn't a normal police officer but it was a female member of the F.B.I which only meant one thing, trouble.
"I'll be taking over the case from here gentlemen. Your presence is not needed any longer here so if you will kindly exit the crime scene that will be much appreciated."
"Said who?" Smitty asked, turning away from his partner. "Last time I checked the F.B.I didn't want anything to do with this case."
His words seem to make her furrow her brow as she pulled up her thick glasses. "Well we do now. Since the police had what? A year and a half to get this woman in cuffs?" She snarled out as she made her way to them. "So do me a favor and leave my case before I see to it you do. The police obviously can't do their job so we will do it for them. Detectives." They both blinked at her words.
Ryan didn't like this woman at all. She seemed like a terrible person to hand the case over too and the fact that the chief allowed her back behind the tape said it all, they were giving up. "Sorry but this case is ours." Smitty stepped in as he folded his arms over his chest. "This isn't just about finding the killer miss..." he looked at her badge. "Columbia. It's about finding Wreckers daughter as well." She raised a brow as she listened to what he had to say to her about his partners daughter.
"Oh? Well I can assure you that the F.B.I can do that as well loves. Listen, it's nothing personal. Wrecker, you're daughter is missing correct?" She asked, her eyes locking with his hazel ones. "Maybe it's best if you stay out of it and let us handle it. I assure you we'd do a better job than the police will ever do. Besides...if the person knows you'll come for your daughter then they may try to ambush you or your husband."
Ryan stayed silent as he watched her make her way past him, the smell of honey filled his nose. "Oh and Wrecker," she paused and looked behind her shoulder. "Don't get in the way...keep your nose on your face for once." He clenched his fist at that and listened to her footsteps fade away into the next room where his friend's body lay. "I hate her already." Smitty growled as he let his arms fall to the side. "Lets get outta here Ryan. It's no place for us to be right now. We can call–" Ohm walked out the door before his partner could finish the sentence.
