Chapter Twenty – One ~ The Right Thing To Do

“This isn’t going to work.” Ginny mumbled as she walked down Time Square with Draco at her side. She looked around nervously at all the muggles passing them; none of the muggles really paying attention them.

“Of course it’s going to work, Red.” Draco whispered into her ear softly causing Ginny to shiver, her eyes closing at the feel of him.

“Draco…” Ginny whispered back as she turned to him in the middle of Time Square, pulling him close.

“Not now, you two.” Amélie rolled her eyes as she walked behind her parents. They could be just like teenagers sometimes, she thought to herself.

“Pay attention, baby,” Ginny told her daughter.

Amélie snorted, “I’m all here, mom.” She said as she looked around then added, “Plus, Thomas is here with me.” She smiled happily at the boy.

Ginny looked back and smiled at the pair; Draco looked back as well, his eyes narrowing.

“Why is he here? I don’t remember him being part of the plan…” Draco mumbled as he ran his fingers through his hair.

Ginny smirked as she looked at him. He was so cute; she thought as she hugged his arm to her body. He looked down at her and grinned.

“Don’t worry, Draco.” She smiled, “the plan will work regardless of Thomas’ involvement.”

“I know, I told you it would.” He smiled back.

“If you two are going to start making out, please, get a room.” Amélie muttered.

“We’re not going to start snogging, Amélie.” Draco told her.

“Good,” she glared at him.

“Yes, good,” he glared back.

They were certainly father, daughter; Ginny thought as she looked between the two of them.

“Please, everyone, let’s keep our eyes open and our attention on what we actually came here to do.” Thomas finally said.

“Yes, we know that.” Draco growled lightly.

Ginny smiled as she grabbed Draco’s hand; he, in turn, leaned over and kissed her forehead. She sighed as he stepped back still holding her hand.

“What if… what if this doesn’t work?” Amélie whispered suddenly causing the other three to stop and look at her.

Thomas frowned as he pulled her close. “Everything is going to go according to plan.”

“I won’t allow anything else to happen besides what the plan entitles.” Draco explained then frowned as he looked around at the other three. “But I reckon it would be stupid to believe that everything will go according to plan?” He wondered out loud.

“Things never really do go according to plan, do they?” Ginny frowned back.

“No, they never really do.” Thomas agreed as the continued walking.

Twenty minutes later, the four of them stopped in front the Hersey’s Time Square store. Amélie looked inside and caught sight of some muggle dark chocolate. She smiled as she continued to look through the windows.

“Bloody hell, all this waiting is driving me mad.” Ginny mumbled angrily.

Amélie sighed and turned back towards her parents. “This was your plan, mom.” She replied.

“I know it was but I had planned on both the wanker and the bloody twit to be watching us.” Ginny frowned. “I guess this wasn’t such a good plan.”

“It was a plan, better than what anyone else had.” Draco said.

“Well, it was pretty stupid.” Ginny sighed. “The only option left is for me to just –” She was saying when Draco cut her off.

“No.” He hissed.

“No, what?” Amélie asked nervously.

“It’s just that… they’re really only after –” Ginny tried again.

“I said no.” Draco hissed.

“What am I missing?” Amélie asked, her silvery – gray eyes narrowing as she looked between her parents.

“She wants to go alone.” Draco explained.

“No way!” Amélie exclaimed.

“Amélie, just listen –” Ginny sighed.

“No, I will not listen! They will kill you! They’ll kill you and then what am I going to do? No! You can’t!” Amélie said as she grabbed her mother’s shoulders and shook her.

“Amélie, stop it. You’re causing a scene.” Thomas tried but Amélie wasn’t listening to him.

“No, mom! absolutely no; I will not allow you to just go to them! How can you even suggest something like that?” Amélie yelled, eyes brimming with tears. “You can’t do it! I won’t let you.”

Draco watched silently.

“Amélie, truthfully, it’s the only way to keep you safe. That’s all that matters to me. Cho and Lucius aren’t going to look at you if they have me. It’s a mother’s duty to protect her child. It’s my job. I reckon you won’t understand, love, but it’s the only way. We need to catch them. We need to dispose of this threat and I’m tired of just waiting around. Blimey, they kidnapped you. They deserve what’s coming to them. And I will be the one to give it to them.” Ginny explained. She then pried Amélie’s fingers from her shoulders.

“But –” Amélie tried but Ginny shook her head silencing her.

“No, baby girl, not this time,” Ginny smiled sadly, “this time I go alone.”

“No, Red.” Draco finally stepped in. “Not alone ever again.”

Ginny looked up at him and bit her lip; she then shook her head.

“No, they won’t come out if anyone but me is there. I have to go alone.” Ginny said quickly so she didn’t back out.

“Ginny –” Draco tried but she threw her arms around his neck and kissed his lips roughly; just a meeting of their lips.

“No,” she whispered against them and then before any of them could do anything, she blinked herself away from them.

“Chang, she’s left them. This is our chance.” Lucius said as he watched Ginny Weasley disappear from the little group of his filthy, blood traitor granddaughter, his disowned son and the other boy.

The two of them had watched as the group of four had walked up and down Time Square. Lucius and Cho had continued to watch waiting for the perfect opportunity to present itself. None had until Ginny Weasley had argued with her daughter and then disappeared from the group. They had heard the argument and Lucius smiled as Ginny Weasley left the group.

“Lucius, I’m not certain this is a good idea.” Cho Chang said suddenly.

Lucius frowned. “What are you talking about? This is the perfect opportunity.”

“It doesn’t feel right. This is too perfect.” Cho frowned as she watched the group.

“No, this is our only opportunity. I will not wait any longer. We’ve wanted Ginny Weasley for awhile and this is our chance. I will wait no longer. Either you are with me, or I do this alone. The revenge will be mine and mine alone.” Lucius hissed.

Cho watched the man silently for a moment then sighed. “Alright,” she agreed as she got to her feet, “but let’s get her and move to a more… suitable place for what we have planned.”

“Of course, I agree.” Lucius said as he pulled out his wand. “Where do you think she went?”

“There she is,” Cho said suddenly as she caught sight of Ginny Weasley turning a corner a few blocks away.

“Perfect, she’s alone.” Lucius smirked as looked at Cho. “See you there,” he said as he apparated away.

Lucius reappeared a few seconds later, Cho after. They stepped out of the shadows to see Ginny Weasley walking away, her fiery hair standing out in the darkening day.

“Alone,” Cho confirmed.

Lucius smiled wickedly as his wand rose.

“No,” Cho said as she placed a hand on his arm wand. “Wait.”

Cho immediately followed the woman into the dark, Lucius followed a safe distance behind. He was worried as Cho disappeared from his view.

“Chang?” He called out.

No answer came.

He frowned; if Chang wasn’t answering, he should assume the worst. There was no way his hell he was following her.

A noise pulled his attention to the shadows again and then his wand arm shot up as Cho came walking out of the shadows backwards, a wand pointed at her forehead. Ginny Weasley appeared holding the wand.

“Did you truly believe it would be that easy?” Ginny asked.

“Truly? No. I assumed something like this was going to happen.” Cho answered honestly.

“Did you now?” Ginny grinned. “It seems the roles are reversed. Aren’t you afraid that I’ll blast you to Hell?”

“No, you won’t do that.” Cho responded.

“I wouldn’t think like that.” Ginny added. “You know what I do for a living.”

“Yes, we do.” Lucius finally said. “But you’ll let us go because it’s the right thing to do.”

“The right thing to do?” Ginny snorted. “Bloody hell, how stupid can you be? I don’t do the right thing, usually. Well, I reckon you can say I do.” Ginny shrugged, “It doesn’t really matter. I should just kill you both right now and get all this over with.”

“You can’t.” Lucius stated simply.

“And why is that?” Ginny asked.

“Because we’re not ready to die just yet,” Cho said suddenly and before Ginny could do anything, She pulled out her wand and shouted, “Stupefy!” before Ginny could respond.

Ginny fell to the floor, unconscious.

“Brilliant, Chang,” Lucius grinned as he walked up to the two woman.

“Yes, I know. Now, we shall take her to where we please.” Cho grinned wickedly as she started down at the witch she hated with her entire being.

~.~.~

“Where is she?” Amélie asked suddenly as the three of them rushed into the deserted alleyway they had seen Ginny go into. “Where’s mom?”

Draco looked up and down the alleyway and knelt down, gently running his fingers over a spot. After a moment he looked up at his daughter and sighed. “They took her.”

“They have her?” Thomas asked as he looked around, wand out.

“Yes,” Draco said his voice thick with venom. “Lucius Malfoy and Cho Chang have Ginny.”
