Chapter Twenty – Five ~ To Die

“Mom!” Amélie cried as she saw her mother collapse into her father’s arms. She rushed over as Draco lifted Ginny into his arms. “Mom! Are you okay?” She asked worriedly.

Ginny’s brown eyes opened slightly as she felt Draco’s arms enclose around her.

“Draco… Amélie…?” She whispered.

“Yes, Red, Amélie and I are here.” Draco whispered back as he looked down at the badly hurt body of the love of his existence.

“Perfect…” Ginny whispered as her eyes shut.

“Mom!” Amélie cried out as she tried to grab her.

“It’s okay, Amélie. She just fainted. It seems she’s been through a lot more than we had planned.” Draco assured her. “I’m going to go lay her down and begin on some healing spells. You know any healing potions, Amélie?”

“Yes, I do. I’ll get right on it.” She said as she rushed into the kitchen, Thomas on her heels.

“Ginny’s not going to need any potions. After the healing spells, all she’s just going to need rest.” Blaise frowned as he looked at Ginny.

Draco looked at Blaise for a second and then realized that Ginny was only in her jeans and a bra. He immediately pulled her closer, covering her from the others’ eyes and glared at them.

“It wasn’t for Ginny, Blaise. It was for Amélie.” Jeff explained to the man as he watched Draco carry the unconscious Ginny into her bedroom; he shut the door behind him.

“Do you think she’s going to be okay?” George asked Jeff as he pulled Luna into his arms.

“Yes, I do. You know Ginny is a strong woman.” Jeff smiled slightly, “she won’t let anything keep her from being with those she loves. Well, not anymore.”

“That’s true,” George smiled back.

“See, Pansy. I told you that everything would be okay.” Colm finally said as he threw his arm around her shoulders.

Pansy’s eyebrows rose on her forehead. She looked over at Blaise and when she noticed that he was watching her, she quickly looked away but not before Blaise caught the slight blush on her cheeks.

“Yes, you did.” She muttered to which Colm smiled.

Shuffling around the bed pulled Ginny from her dreamless sleep. She shifted a bit then frowned when it didn’t hurt her as much as she thought it would.

“Red, hey Red, wake up…” a voice whispered from her right.

She recognized the voice and for a moment, she let the calm that entered her at his voice spread throughout her body.

“Even though it’s better for you to get some rest, I reckon Amélie would feel loads better if she could see you’re okay.” Draco whispered in her ear.

Ginny sighed, “You’re right, of course.” She responded.

“Of course,” he replied and Ginny could hear the smile in his voice.

Ginny opened her eyes and rolled to her right to see Draco sitting beside her on the bed. She stretched, yawning. “What time is it?”

“About five, I assume.” Draco answered as he caressed her cheek. “You had us worried, Red. You were gone for so long.”

“I know. It certainly didn’t turn out how I thought it would. We have much to talk about.” She said as she sat up. “You healed me? Thank you, Merlin! I was in so much pain.”

“Yes, I did and my love, you have a lot of explaining to do; such as how you fell into my arms half naked and covered in bruises and blood.” Draco’s voice was level but his eyes were anything but. They were dark with anger and fear. Ginny sighed. Yes, she certainly had a lot of explaining to do but first, first she needed to see her daughter.

“Where’s Amélie?” She asked as she looked around her room.

“I’m here,” the teenager said as she walked into the room. “Oh, thank Merlin! You’re awake!” She cried as she ran up to Ginny and threw her arms around her mother. “I was so scared! I thought – I thought –”

“It’s okay, baby. I’m okay,” She held her daughter as the girl shivered in her arms. “Everything will be alright, you’ll see.”

“What happened? Why were you so badly hurt?” Amélie asked as she pulled back from her mother’s embrace.

“Let’s go out to the living room. This is something everyone needs to hear.” Ginny said as she took the hand that Draco extended to her.

“Yes, I’d also like to hear this.”

Ginny looked up to see Jeff leaning casually against her bedroom door. From where she was sitting, she could see dark shadows below his eyes. He looked worried and that surprised her. Jeff obviously cared about her. He must have been as worried as everyone else.

“We’re coming now, Jeff.” She smiled slightly and when she walked passed him, she patted his shoulder lightly. He smiled back.

“It’s good that you’re back in one piece, Weasley.” He muttered.

“It’s good to be back in one piece.” She grinned and continued on; the three following her into the living room where George, Luna, Colm, Pansy and Thomas sat talking amongst themselves. When the four of them got into the living room, Neville and Blaise came out from with the kitchen, Butterbeers hovering magically between them.

“I’ll take some Firewhiskey,” Ginny said as she made a quick detour to the kitchen for something stronger. “Everyone sit down and get comfortable while I get my drink. We’ve got a lot to talk about.”

Amélie and Jeff nodded as Draco quickly grabbed Ginny’s hand and kissed her palm.

“Hurry back,” he whispered lovingly.

“I will,” she smiled as she disappeared into the kitchen.

A few minutes later, the entire group was sitting in the living room staring quietly at each other. No one said a thing. Finally, Amélie took a deep breath as she looked around at her family and friends. Then her eyes settled on her parents who were snuggling together on the love sofa. She forced herself to bite down the shot of glee that coursed through her body at the sight of the two of them. They were the cutest thing she had ever seen. You could tell that they were so in love with each other and that alone made her so happy. She loved them, loved them together. They were perfect for each other. She couldn’t wait to see how things would turn out with them or if one day, in the future, if she could be like that with Thomas; Amélie thought as she looked at him beneath her eyelashes.

Are you thinking about me? A voice asked in her mind causing her to flinch in surprise.

Thomas chuckled and the sound pulled everyone’s attention to them.

“What’s going on?” Draco asked suspiciously.

Amélie smirked. It was nice to see her dad being overprotective but she was certain that it could definitely get way out of hand; so, with that thought, she quickly jumped in.

“It’s nothing, really. So, we’re all here now…” she started as she looked over at her mother.

Ginny sighed as she sat up straight on the couch, “oh, alright. I’ll get to it now.” She took a deep breath and started at the beginning. When she reached the part about Lucius, she hesitated. Draco glared.

“What did he do to you, Ginny?” Draco hissed.

“It’s not a big deal. Nothing happened. Now, I’m just going to continue with the rest of the –” he cut her off.

“Tell me, Ginevra.” He stood.

“Oh man…” someone whispered but Amélie didn’t look to see who it was. The look on her dad’s face was murderous. She’d never seen him so angry before.

“He… well, I don’t think we should talk about this here in front of the children.” Ginny mumbled.

Amélie’s eyes widened as suddenly her father disappear followed instantly by her mother’s blink. The two of them reappeared at the front door, Ginny blocking Draco’s way.

“Get out of my way, Ginny. I’m going to kill that son of a bitch!” Draco growled.

“No! Relax, nothing happened. I handled it. See, see, I’m okay!” Ginny grabbed him by the shoulders.

“No, hell no, I don’t care. I will kill him for this!” He tried to get around her but she was having none of it.

“Draco, you listen to me right now! Sit down! There is more for me to tell.” He didn’t move. “Now!” She yelled.

He instantly took a step back at her temper.

“Please,” she said as she took a step closer to him and he instantly pulled her into his arms.

“I’m sorry, Red. Merlin, I’m so sorry.” He whispered softly but Amélie heard him. Her heart twisted at the thought of what could have happened to her mother and it was all her sick, twisted and madly evil grandfather.

Everyone stared in shock at Ginny as she escorted Draco back to the couch.

“Oh Ginny,” Luna whispered, her silvery – gray eyes misted over with tears.

“What is that old man thinking?” Blaise wondered out loud.

“He’s mad, isn’t that obvious?” Pansy replied.

“He’s sick, that’s what he is.” George grumbled.

“I knew he was evil but that’s a bit extreme, don’t you think?” Neville mumbled as he frowned at Ginny. She looked loads better but he was certain that it must have been a trying experience for her. Ginny was a strong witch, an even stronger woman but even she could only hold up for so long.

“I know why he tried. He told me.” Ginny said as she leaned back against the couch and closed her eyes. “He knew that if he got away with it, it would destroy Draco. It would kill him to know it. That I had ruined Draco; that he had spent all of Draco’s life trying to make him into the perfect vessel for whomever would come to power and he would be wielded like a weapon. It was all my fault that he wasn’t one anymore.

"And because I ruined his plan, he would get Amélie and perfect the mistakes he’d made with Draco but that slimy bastard would never get Amélie. Never. Over my dead body. No one is ever going to touch or harm my daughter so help me –” Ginny’s temper was rising as the anger from before began to fill her body; the air sizzling around her.

“Red, it’s –” Draco started but Amélie cut him off.

“Mom, I’m okay. Really, Lucius will never get me.” Amélie smirked. “He wouldn’t know what to do with me if he did anyway. Plus, he doesn’t know about my extra powers, now does he?”

Draco smirked back. “That’s my girl. See, there’s no reason to overexert yourself.” He told Ginny as he slid a lock of her hair behind her ear.

Ginny sighed, “You’re right.”

“Anyway, please go on,” Kingsley urged.

“Alright, well, after that Cho returned and…” Ginny went on and when she came to when Cho was asking all of the questions about the Organization within the Ministries and all the information she actually knew both Jeff and Kingsley jumped up in surprise.

“How does she know all of this?” Jeff asked.

“I have no idea.” Ginny replied truthfully.

“Where is she getting this information? This doesn’t make any sense. There is either a leak in the Organization or someone has been spying on us.” Kingsley concluded.

“Meaning not only do Cho Chang and Lucius Malfoy have to die, but someone else?” Amélie asked.

“Precisely,” Draco replied.
