Chapter Twenty – Eight ~ A Sign

Green flames filled the fireplace to the Weasley girls' apartment, drawing the remaining groups’ attention.

Ginny was braiding Amélie’s hair on the couch, contemplating the plan for Lucius Malfoy and Cho Chang's final confrontation. This would be it; there would be no more kidnappings, no more pain, and no more threats. This was it; the end because she would not allow any more of this to go on.

Draco sat on the other couch with Blaise and Pansy while Thomas and Colm played wizarding chess on the floor; everyone looked up to see Kingsley and Jeff come through the green flames. As soon as they stepped into the living room, Ginny instantly knew something was wrong. She got to her feet, her heart pounding wildly. Their faces, their expressions... were very troubling.

"What's wrong?" She immediately asked.

"Ginny, maybe you should sit down." Jeff told her with a frown.

"George isn't back yet?" Kingsley asked as he looked around the apartment, taking in the others.

"They should all be back in a few hours. Why?" Draco asked. He knew though that whatever they were going to say would be bad; he notice that Kingsley asked for George and so he instantly appeared at her side, knowing that whatever it was, it had to do with the Weasley family.

"Kingsley, Jeff, what's wrong?" Ginny asked again, her body turning cold with nervousness. They needed to tell her already.Seconds felt like minutes, hours, days as she waited.

"What is it?" Amélie asked as she grabbed Ginny's hand, her hand was cold and it worried her.

"It's about..." Jeff started but stopped and looked at Kingsley. The older black man sighed and took a step towards Ginny and Amélie.

"Ginny, it's your family." He said softly.

"What family?" Amélie fired back. "What about them? What do we need to know about them? They abandoned mom, abandoned me. What do we need -" She was saying angrily causing the things around the living room to shake ominously until Ginny pulled on her arm, drawing her attention.

"Amélie, relax." She instructed.

Amélie closed her eyes and took a deep breath then opened her eyes when Ginny started to speak.

"Amélie’s right. What about them? They turned their backs on us. Why would we... why would we care what's wrong with them? Accordingly to Molly, Amélie and I don't exist to them. I'm dead in their eyes." Ginny stopped as Draco growled beside her at her last sentence. She looked at him and softly ran her fingers down his arm. He shivered slightly, almost undetectable.

"Ginny, they're dead." Kingsley whispered but everyone in the room heard every word.

Ginny stared in disbelief. They were dead?

"All of them are dead. There was a celebration, so everyone but you, Amélie, George, Luna and the twins were present." Kingsley continued but she wasn't really listening. She was seeing Molly, Arthur, Bill, Charlie, Percy, and Ron's faces with pieces of their own families coming and going. Memories flooded her mind; happy, angry, sad, painful memories, all from over seventeen years ago, where they had turned their backs on her, on Amélie. She had hated them, every thought of them had been filled with fury but she had never wanted any of them dead... just the thought of all of them dead...

Ginny inhaled a shaky breath then collapsed, fainting. Draco immediately caught her and lifted her into his arms. He looked down at her pale face and sighed. His Red was a lot of things but she wasn't unfeeling. No matter what she said, she had loved her family, just as much as she had hated them. He glanced over at his daughter to see her just as pale but she was holding herself together.

You won't kill me if I go over and comfort my girlfriend? A voice asked in his mind and he shot a glare at Thomas who wasn't entirely paying attention. The young man was already on his feet and standing behind Amélie who he pulled into his arms. Draco sighed. Amélie already had someone to comfort her... He tried not to let the thought unsettle him

Amélie was startled to see her mother faint. And it reminded her that her mother had been through a lot these last few days before this unfortunate news.

"They're all dead?" She heard herself ask, "Every single one of them?" She didn't know any of them except Uncle George, Luna and the twins but something inside of her, her heart she supposed, squeezed painfully in her chest and she wondered if she would cry over them. They didn't want to know her all those years ago. She didn't know them and now... She never would. Somehow, deep inside of her, she had hoped that she would meet them. This mystery family, such an iconic family, if she'd heard correctly. She had wondered what they would be like. Now, that would never happen. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, holding them shut tightly.

"Yes," Kingsley replied sadly.

"Red…?" Draco's voice drew everyone's attention. "Red, are you okay?"

Instantly, Ginny disappeared from his arms and within a third of a second, Draco disappeared.

They both appeared at the door, Draco blocking her way this time.

"Draco Malfoy, move. We both know I don't have to leave through the door." Ginny's voice was off. It was cold, emotionless.

Amélie shivered at the sound.

"Wait, Ginny, take a second before you act irrationally. Let's all sit down and talk about this." Draco took a step towards her but she didn't move. She stayed planted, her chocolate brown eyes glazed over. He sighed softly.

"Mom? Mom, where are you going?" Amélie asked, stepping away from Thomas and towards her parents.

Draco immediately held out his hand, stopping her in her tracks.

"No, baby, this isn't your mother right now. Stand back with Thomas." He warned her in a soft, persuasive voice but he never took his eyes away from Ginny.

His Red, oh his poor Red, she was in a lot of pain right now.

He took another step towards her and her eyes flashed to his.

"I have to make things right. I have to - I have to make it right, Draco! And oh Merlin, I'll end this, their blood on my hands and I will never be happier." A wicked smile spread on her lips and Draco gulped.

Ginny Weasley was dangerous; very, very dangerous and right now, even more so while she was in this... daze.

"Did we miss something?" Blaise asked, speaking for the first time as he looked between Ginny and Draco.

"Yes, it seems that we have." Pansy answered him as she took a step towards Colm. He quickly reached for her hand as he watched.

"What do you suppose that is?" Blaise asked.

"I want to know too," Amélie added as she watched Ginny with wide silvery - gray eyes; Thomas behind her with his arms protectively around her waist.

Everyone in the room watched Ginny nervously. Draco reached for her hand slowly and she allowed it; he pulled her to him but she stopped him with her hand planted to his chest and looked at the room behind them. He saw them all flinch at the look in her eyes. The glaze had filled with fire and barely concealed fury.

"They were murdered as a sign for me." Her voice rang in the quiet room.

Amélie’s mouth opened but nothing came out. Ginny looked at her and Amélie snapped it shut.

"Lucius Malfoy and Cho Chang will die. Now," were the last words that left her lips before she disappeared in front of their very eyes.

Red hair combined with blood on the marble floor of the ballroom. It was endless and the scent of iron filled the air as the body held perfectly still. Pale white skin stood out in contrast to the dark clothes and the vivid, bright red of the hair and blood. Chocolate brown eyes stared blankly at the high ceilings but didn’t see. They were so, so vacant; so lifeless.

A pale hand, red with blood, held out away from the body towards the ballroom doors that suddenly burst open to reveal a group. At the sight in the center of the room, a strangled cry came from the group. A man disappeared and appeared, fell to his knees in the river of blood around the woman; his eyes wide with despair as he took her in. Another cry left his lips as he pulled the dead body of the woman into his arms and held her tightly, crying out for her.

At the display, the group came to lip and rushed into the ballroom as well. A young redheaded woman falling besides the man, tears spilling down her cheeks as she grabbed the woman’s pale, cold hands.

There was so much blood, so much blood.

It surrounded them, it overtook them.

It was all that was them. It was them… it was them.

Blood circled them. It choked them. It engulfed them.

It was all that was them.

It filled the ballroom. It was drowning them.

So much, so much, so much blood.

Blood. Blood. Blood.

Blood.

Blood.

Blood.

Rìona shot up in bed, his black hair sticking up. Her deep green eyes darted around her bedroom as her dream – vision settled in her mind. She shivered at all the blood. The vision had grown. Before, all she had seen was all the blood and death but now… oh Merlin, all that detail. Oh no; tears filled her eyes as her head dropped into her hands.

“Ginny. Ginny! Ginny!” She was overcome by sobs.

All that blood and pain and death; Ginny was going to die and now, sweet Merlin, now she knew how it was going happen.

She jumped from her bed, grabbed her wand and ran out of her apartment without bothering to change. This was an emergency. Rìona immediately apparated to Ginny’s home and as she prepared to knock, she could hear yelling from within. She knocked frantically.

Suddenly the front door opened and Amélie stared in shock.

“Rìona, what are you doing here? And why are you in your pajamas?” Amélie asked her voice slightly higher than normal.

“Ginny, where’s Ginny?” Rìona rushed into the apartment. “I need Ginny. Where’s Ginny?”

“What’s wrong?” Jeff came into view and Rìona rushed over to him. “Rìona, what’s wrong? What happened? Are you okay?”

“Ginny is in danger! So much blood… I doona how she can still - there’s so much blood!” Rìona cried as her legs gave out from under her. Jeff caught her in his arms. “Where’s Ginny? I must… I must…”

“Mom’s gone.” Amélie whispered and her face paled.

“We don’t know where Ginny is.” Colm jumped in.

“She just left. A minute before you showed up. We were trying to figure out how to find her.” A man said and Rìona recognized him from her vision.

“Ye… ye are…” She stared at his worried silvery – gray eyes.

“I am –” Amélie cut the man off.

“He’s my father, Draco. Did you have another vision?” She asked worriedly. “Did you know the place?”

“No,” Rìona replied. “But I can draw it.”

Paper instantly appeared before her and she began sketching the place minus Ginny’s bloody scene. As soon as certain details appeared, a few gasped.

“What is it?” Amélie asked.

“Malfoy Manor, the ballroom…” Draco whispered.

“Ye all must hurry!” Rìona yelled and suddenly they were all running; she was right behind them. As soon as they stepped outside the apartment door, Draco grabbed onto Amélie and they disapparated; the others following suit. Jeff grabbed her arm and the two of them were off as well.

Off to this Malfoy Manor ballroom where the scene of blood and death would be so profound. She hoped they weren’t too late.
