Chapter Nine ~ I’ve Missed You

For the past seventeen years Ginny Weasley has been suffering in quiet misery. She’s been alone, most, since she has Amélie but her mind and her body could never let her forget the one man who held everything of hers: Draco Malfoy.

Ginny frowned to herself as she sat on her couch in her living room. Ever since arriving home early this morning from her assignment in London, England, the homeland she’s gladly forget, she realized that unfortunately, right now, she wasn’t going to be able to forget; if that’s what you would call what had been going on over the seventeen odd years.

Every man who had touched her or kissed her was unable to fill that deep void of unsatisfied feeling, both physically and emotionally. For one thing, she had tried to lose herself in others. Once she had come close with Colm; one drunken night when her past nightmares had chased her from her lonely apartment to his diner. Amélie and Thomas were away at Liatris and they had drank all night, laughing and talking about happier times; neither mentioning why Ginny was there.

Well, one thing had led to another and before Ginny knew it, she was half dressed and lying on her back on the bar, Colm hovering about her with pure and unconcealed lust. He wanted her and she wanted someone, someone who could take away the pain and abandonment she felt deep within her heart. She’d pulled him down to her and they had continued until it was time for the joining and she was lost. She had opened her eyes right before he entered her and for a split moment, a moment that she was almost absolutely certain that couldn’t have happened, as she looked up into Colm’s eyes, instead of their blue color that she was used to, she found herself staring into the endless pools of the silvery – gray eyes that she become so accustomed to drowning in in her younger years. And that had put an instant stop to what had happened. Colm never said anything but Ginny knew he suspected what had happened and why she had pulled away. To this day, neither of them ever mentioned what had and what almost happened between them. Ginny was internally grateful.

It seemed as if she was broken. Draco had broken her, broken her forever. Draco had made it so that Ginny could never have or want another man, yet he left her; left her showing that he didn’t want her.

Even though it had been one night they had shared together, regardless of their truly plastered states, was the best night of her life.

Nevertheless, after that fight they had and she had sent the letter to which he completely disregarded her, she had left and never really looked back; not that she had much of a choice.

She had been disowned, abandoned by the people she had needed the most.

Ginny still got bitter when she remembered her family. And honest to her word, seventeen years later, her family still hasn’t met nor seen Amélie and she would keep it that way. When she put her foot down and she had said never, she meant; sweet Merlin, how she meant it. Her family had abandoned her, hurt her, disappointed and by all that was within her, Ginny would never; ever let someone hurt her daughter.

Yawning, Ginny decided that she should take a small nap. She stretched then laid across the couch deciding that Amélie would be home anytime soon; that she would wait for here instead of in her bedroom. As she closed her eyes, dreams and memories intertwined to drag her into the dream world.

“Ginny, love, come back to bed. You’re cold, trust me, I can tell.” Draco teased from beneath the covers of her bed but Ginny wasn’t going to have any of it. She needed to get ready; she was meeting Kingsley to talk about something important.

“No, ferret. You know I have somewhere I have to be. I told you. Be patient, let me get dressed and get on to my appointment and then and only then will I join you once again.” Ginny told him as she turned her back to him and entered her closet.

She squealed lightly when she felt his arms wrap around her waist. She hadn’t even heard him or sensed him move but that was to be expected when Draco Malfoy, the unknown hit – wizard was involved.

He nuzzled her neck in affection causing shocks of electricity to travel up her spine and through her body like some kind of drug within her blood.

“Oh c’mon, weasel, that’s no way to speak to the wizard who you shagged to within an inch of his wretched life, now is it?” He teased. “Kinglsey can wait for another day. He’s…busy right now as well.”

“How did you know I was going to see Kingsley?” Ginny asked suspiciously. She wasn’t really worried. Draco would never do anything bad to her.

“I know everything like when I do this,” he licked the outer shell of her ear, “your legs go weak and I have to hold you up like right now. And I know that when I do this,” he gently nibbled on the curve between her neck and shoulder, “you shivered with delight like right now and I know that when I do this –” Ginny gasp as his hand slid between her legs. She quickly blinked herself to the other side of the bed, opposite him.

Draco turned around slowly, amusement shinning in his eyes. “What’s the matter, Red? Getting distracted there?”

“Don’t be like that, Draco. I really need to speak with Kingsley!” Ginny protested weakly. Truthfully she enjoyed this way more than seeing Kingsley. Draco made her mad with want, with passion, with barely concealed lust.

“I know you like it.” His voice thickened and suddenly he was gone but Ginny wasn’t going to have any of it; she quickly blinked herself away.

One – fourth of a second later they both appeared on opposite sides of the bed, in the others’ original spot.

Draco’s eyebrows shot up in amusement, his silvery – gray eyes shining with excitement. Ginny bit her lip to get from moaning at the sight alone. Draco was pure sex on a wand.

“Don’t run from me, Red. I’m faster.” He told her then disappeared again.

Ginny blinked as well.

Once again they appeared in their original positions, opposite each other.

Draco playfully groaned as he ran his fingers through his hair. “Come now, Red.”

Ginny smirked, “Faster, I think that was that what you said? I think not.” She teased and blinked herself.

Draco watched her disappear but he knew it would end. He disappeared as well but when Ginny reappeared where he was standing mere milliseconds before, he appeared behind her; tackling her playfully onto the bed. Ginny gasped as he flipped her over and kissed her passionately. She immediately responded.

Suddenly the phone was ringing but neither of them wanted to pick up. She’d let it go to voicemail because right now, Draco was all she wanted to concentrate on but Ginny groaned as her mother’s voice came out of the machine; her mind not entirely catching her mother's words as Draco's lips brushed against her collarbone.

"Ginny dear - no Arthur, I can handle this - bloody hell, oops, I said that out loud, didn't I?" Ginny then heard her father's loving voice chuckle in the background. "Ginny, you were supposed to be here at Burrow two hours ago. I owled Neville and he said that you were out until late last night. Did you meet someone? Oh, dear, that's spectacular!" Draco growled angrily at the thought of Ginny meeting someone else. Ginny couldn't help but smile slightly at Draco's reaction to her meeting someone else even though they hadn't made any promises to each other. "Anyway, come over quickly since - oh! Hello, dear! It's been so long since I've seen you." Molly's voice got quieter but both of them could hear her.

Instantly Ginny stiffened and pulled away from Draco. He looked at her oddly.

“What’s wrong?” He asked as he pushed down the straps of her bra.

This happened, this happened before, I’m certain of it; Ginny thought to herself as she sat up and looked at the answering machine.

"Have you made up with Ron, dear?" Molly's voice came back but both of them knew she wasn't talking to Ginny's answering machine.

"I'm sure he'd like it if you both could catch up." Molly said.

Draco's hand brushed against the clasp of Ginny's bra.

"No, not yet but I'm hoping he'll listen to me. Maybe Ginny as well, but I can't be too certain considering what I've put her through. I just hope she'll give me a chance to speak to her before she blows me to smithereens." A male voice joked with Molly and came straight through the machine causing both Ginny and Draco to freeze their movements.

“Oh no!” It hit Ginny like a stampede of mad, runaway hippogriffs. Everything coming back to her of that time she and Draco had fought.

She remembered it and Merlin damn if, she wouldn’t let it happened again. Before Draco could even process it all Ginny was in front of the answering machine and phone. She picked up the phone and vaguely heard her mother call her name but before anything, she threw the phone across the room at the wall. It broke into a million pieces.

She heard a cry behind her and looked over to see Draco disappearing into a cloud of darkness; it was eerie and distorted.

“Draco, no!” She cried out.

“Ginny, GINNY!” Draco yelled, “No, no! I need you! I NEED YOU!”

Ginny shot up from her place on the couch, her heart pounding wildly in her chest.

“Draco, Draco, no – oh no! He can’t…” She whispered until she began to realize it was only a dream. It was only a dream…

She leaned back against the couch and took a deep breath. She was frightened and her heart was violently beating but her body was humming with unfulfilled desire. Her body remembered it all; the way his hands felt on her breasts and hips, the way her heart beat quickened as he drew near.

She couldn’t explain it.

She missed his presence, his touch, his calm and collected demeanor, his smile… she missed him but he wasn’t here. Her being longed for him, it yearned for him and him alone. And it showed in her dreams.

~.~.~

Life was becoming hell, Ginny thought as she put her feet up on the coffee table and pulled out her wand, summoning the bottle of Ogden’s firewhiskey from within her fridge into her hand. It had been a long day, more like a long seventeen year, her mind whispered.

She pulled open the bottle cap and took a deep sip. As it burned down her throat, she closed her eyes and sighed loudly as the burn disappeared.

At that precise moment, with her eyes closed, Ginny heard the front door open and slam shut. Without opening her eyes, she realized that it was Amélie. But the girl froze after the door shut.

Ginny frowned, “What’s wrong? Why did you stop? Do I look that bad? I took a nap and one hell of a dream…or was it a nightmare?” Ginny wondered out loud.

Amélie hesitated as she watched Ginny sitting on the couch with her eyes closed, looking exhausted with a bottle of Ogden’s loosely held in her hand.

“Cat got your tongue?” Ginny teased.

Still, Amélie hesitated.

“Spit it out, love. You’re worrying me.” Ginny blinked herself off the couch and appeared in front of her daughter who stood a few inches taller than her. “Amélie, what’s wrong?” Ginny asked in alarm.

Ginny jumped when the door behind Amélie rattled. She immediately pulled Amélie behind her, wand instantly at the ready.

“Who’s there?” She growled.

No sound came.

“Answer me, dammit!” Amélie’s lack of response worried Ginny, setting her on edge.

Still no sound came.

Angrily, she pulled open the door only to find the spot in front of it empty. Ginny frowned as she looked all around. After telling Amélie to stay put she walked to the stairs, around the floor but nothing. Nothing seemed out of sorts. Confused, she made her way back to the apartment. Amélie hadn’t moved from the spot where Ginny had placed her. Her silvery – gray eyes were wide with worry and shock.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” Ginny asked again as she gently pushed a lock of hair behind Amélie’s ear.

“I met him.” Amélie whispered.

“Met who?” Ginny asked completely confused. She had no idea who Amélie meant.

“I met Him, mom!” Amélie yelled. “I met Him!”

A few paintings on the wall and the television rattled but neither of the women noticed as they looked at each other.

Ginny was still confused.

“For the love of Merlin, mom, sometimes I wonder about you head! Who do we refer to as him and is tall, blond and has eyes just like mine?”

Ginny froze.

“Where…?” Ginny asked, tone serious.

“In London after doing the recon assignment.”

“Are you certain it was Draco?” Ginny asked.

“It was him, mom. Everything you told me about him. I found some information while the muggle was out, which I’ll show you later, but as I was leaving, I made sure no one was there but when I opened the door, oh damn, there he was. You were right, he’s unbelievably fast.” Amélie explained shaking her head.

Ginny stared at her daughter in disbelief.

“He called me Red…” Amélie looked shocked. “I never thought we looked much alike.” She said as she remembered looking into her father’s eyes; her eyes.

“Red…?”

Amélie watched as her father stared at her; his eyes so much like hers, staring at her, eating her image up. She knew he was seeing her mother, but didn’t understand why. Sure she looked like her mom, a bit at least but she didn’t think the resemblance was that close.

The man continued to stare at her and Amélie he was trying to figure out who she was. He must have figured out that it was impossible to be her mother. It had been seventeen years.

But he could look all he wanted because she was doing the same. Finally, in front of her was her real father. Not so photo. He was real and she drank in the sight of him.

The real man had some lines around his eyes; his jawline was sharper than in pictures; his hair blonder. He was taller than she thought he would be, leaner and though he looked tough, she knew he wouldn’t hurt her. She knew and she was certain he knew it as well, though he didn’t know why. But it was really him.

Draco Malfoy, her father, was finally in front of her.

“Who are you?” Draco asked and it quickly snapped Amélie out of her thoughts.

This wasn’t the time to be getting completely caught up in other things. The muggle could be back anytime soon and she had been given strict orders not to engage in contact with the muggle.

Even though it pained her, she would have to go without him.

“We don’t have time. I’m sorry. But I’m not this ‘Red’ you thought I was…” Amélie told him.

“I know that now…” He whispered as he stared into her eyes and his narrowed. She realized that he was finally taking in their unique color that was identical to his own. “But who –” he started to say but she cut him off.

“I’m sorry but I have to go. I got what I needed and now it’s time for me to go. I’m sorry again.” She whispered and then with a flick of her wand, she was gone.

“Draco…oh my Merlin…” Ginny whispered as Amélie finished telling her what happened. “Oh Merlin…” She swayed causing Amélie to rush forward and grab her, directing her to the couch.

“How did this – no this can’t – oh no!” Ginny groaned as she placed her head in her hands.

“He didn’t chase me, I think.” Amélie said.

“I want to say that I was hoping to avoid this forever. That’s what I would have said a few weeks ago but now, well, though I’m obviously panicking right now…blimey, I don’t know what I’m saying.” Ginny bit her lip to keep the panic from completely consuming her.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

Both Amélie and Ginny looked at each other; expressions of disbelief, worry and shock mirrored on both of their faces.

The knock came again.

They both hesitated but after the third knock, Ginny stood slowly and walked to the door. She stopped, took a deep breath and finally opened the door.

Outside the door were only Thomas and Colm.

Ginny and Amélie exhaled loudly.

“I think I just lost a year off my life.” Amélie mumbled softly.

“Bollocks, I think mine was ten.” Ginny replied before she blinked herself back to the couch where Amélie was sitting. She wrapped an arm around her daughter and pulled her closer. “What’s the matter, Thomas, Colm?” Ginny asked them.

Both stepped into the apartment. Thomas smiled at them but his eyes were watching Amélie. Ginny noticed Amélie blush slightly in the corner of her eye. Inside she smiled a bit because it seemed as if Amélie was finally noticing Thomas in that light but she couldn’t shake away her panic that easily.

Things were about to change; how she knew that, she couldn’t say. She just did.

“Jeff stopped by the diner. He wanted us to give this to you. Why he wouldn’t bring it himself, he didn’t say.” Thomas told them.

Ginny looked over at Colm to see him watching her intently. His blue eyes were darker than usual but she couldn’t even guess why. It was as if he was searching for something from but she didn’t know what so she couldn’t help him.

“What is it?” Amélie asked curiously as she leaned her head on Ginny’s shoulder.

“A letter,” Thomas said as he handed to the letter into Ginny’s outstretched hand.

Ginny instantly froze as she stared down at the letter.

Ginny, was written on the outside of the envelope.

“Draco,” she whispered.

“How do you know?” Amélie immediately asked as she leaned over to see the handwriting.

“Draco and I used to speak through different methods. We wrote to each other a lot over those years we knew each other.” She said softly.

She hadn’t seen his writing in over seventeen year.

“Open it.” Amélie demanded softly. Since she was born she had never once received anything from her father. She only had pictures and her memory from earlier.

Ginny nodded as she opened the letter with shaky hands. When she read it, she wanted to cry. It was only four words but they meant so much; so much more than anyone would ever understand.

It said:

I’ve missed you, Red.
