Chapter Five ~ Credible Information

“Ginny, I need to see you in my office.” A male voice from the fireplace caught Ginny’s attention from the muggle historical romance she was reading. She sighed as she looked up into the tired face of the American Minister of Magic, Jeff CarMichael.

“Yes, let me tell Amélie I'm heading out and I’ll head over.” She said as she shut her book and began to walk over to her daughter’s room when the Minister cleared his throat. She looked back to see his head still in the green flames. “Yes?” She asked.

“Bring Amélie with you. I’ll be expecting you in ten minutes. My fireplace will be open for only you two,” and with that, his head disappeared from the flames.

Ginny continued to stare at the empty fireplace as his words processed in her mind. He wanted her to bring Amélie with her. He wanted her to bring Amélie –

“Is it true? Huh? Is it? Is it?” Amélie came running out of her room, screaming and jumping like a child; her red hair flying around her as she cheered and her silvery - gray eyes sparking with excitement.

Ginny looked up to see her daughter dancing around the living room.

“What are you doing? Have you gone mad?” She asked.

“No, mom! You and your crazy British words,” Amélie laughed as she came to a stop in front of Ginny. “Jeff finally said I can accompany you! That means he’s going to give me a shot!” She continued to dance and sing some muggle song along the lines of “rock this party, dance everybody –” before Ginny zoned her out and realized something else.

“You were eavesdropping, Amélie?” Ginny stood, her arms crossed over her chest with a very demanding expression.

Amélie stopped jumping to look at her mother. She bit back a smile. Seeing her mom upset was always a funny experience considering her mom was barely taller than fivefeet. Amélie towered over her by a good four or five inches, at least. It always made Amélie wonder how tall her dad was but she didn’t want to go into thinking about that now. Her mom was quickly driving herself into a temper tantrum which she assumed for a woman who was well into her thirties shouldn’t have.

“I wasn’t eavesdropping, mom. It was more like I overheard the conversation accidentally.” Amélie corrected her to which Ginny rolled her eyes and blinked herself into her room to grab her cloak and bag. When she blinked herself back into the living room, Amélie was standing by the fireplace, her cloak on and bag in hand.

“I’m ready, mommy.” Amélie smiled innocently.

Ginny bit her lip as she looked at her daughter. Amélie was growing up so fast. It seemed like yesterday she was born, this morning she was a toddler and this afternoon she was barely into her “pre-teens” as the muggles called it.

“Stop looking at me like that.” Amélie complained causing Ginny to smile again.

“I just love you so much,” Ginny said as she leaned over and pinched Amélie’s cheek.

“Dammit, mom, that hurt!” Amélie hissed and Ginny was almost taken back by how much that hiss and angry look on Amélie’s face looked like her father’s.

“You’re just so cute, baby.” Ginny said as she grabbed the vase that held the floo powder and held it out for Amélie. “Now, you go first.”

Amélie obeyed and called out, “the Minister of Magic’s office!” and disappeared with the green flames. Ginny followed behind her.

Ginny arrived to Amélie magically cleaning the soot off of her black jeans and a Holyhead Harpies jersey of Ginny’s from when she was younger. Amélie had been shocked to hear that they had tried to recruit her when she had graduated from Hogwarts but she had declined it to try to become an Auror and then had been sadly disappointed when Harry hadn’t wanted her to do any of those things.

“Hello, Jeff. As you can see Amélie and I are here.” Ginny said to the Minister who was sitting quietly behind his desk, his arms crossed over his chest; his bald head shining in the light of the room and his greenish hazel eyes watching the two women standing by the fireplace. They looked almost identical except for their eyes and their height.

He stood, a smile spreading on his face as he looked at the leader of his hit – witch and wizard Organization. Things had changed over the years and Jeff prided himself on his Organization. It was one of the best, filled with amazing witches and wizards from all over the world. They worked together rather than separately and they didn’t just do hits, they had other assignments.

Jeff and the American Ministry were lucky when Ginny Weasley decided she wanted to leave England. He made sure she never regretted her decision even though he knew she’d come over for other reasons beside her newborn daughter and the need of new scenery. But everyone who knew Jeff knew that he wasn’t one to complain about his fortunes.

“Have a seat, you two.” He indicated to the two chairs in front of his desk. The Weasleygirls took their seats. “First things first, Amélie, you just graduated and if I’m correct, one of top in your class. Impressive, really, and this makes it easier since your mother is the head of this department and I know she has taught you much more than most mothers teacher their daughters. So, I’d like to ask you if you would take the time to think about maybe joining the Organization as a trainee until you receive your gift and your mother believes that you are ready to become a full – time eligible employee.”

Amélie stared, open mouthed at Jeff for a few seconds; completely shocked by the news. Ginny smiled proudly as she looked at her daughter. She knew that Jeff was going to ask Amélie. He had asked for her permission first since she was her daughter and knowing how prepared for the job Amélie was and how much she wanted it, Ginny couldn’t say no.

Finally, Amélie snapped out of her shock and jumped up, “Yes, yes, yes! Of course, Minister!”

Jeff smiled, “well, since you’re now an employee of mine and a member of the secretive Organization, you can call me Jeff.”

“Oh, well, thank you, Jeff.” Amélie smiled widely. She looked over at Ginny and her smile took away her breath. She was so happy for her. She was glad that Amélie had finally gotten the job, even if it was only as a trainee but now it would only be a matter of time.

“Now, onto a more serious matter; I was wondering if you heard about the mass breakout from Azkaban.” He asked.

“The Wizarding prison around England?” Amélie asked, a small nagging feeling in the back of her head started to come forward but she pushed that aside. She wanted to know more.

“Yes,” Ginny told Amélie and frowned, her eyebrows furrowing together as she looked at Jeff. “No, I hadn’t heard.”

“I figured you wouldn’t. Well, I just spoke to Minister Shacklebolt and he –” He was saying when Ginny cut him off.

“You spoke to Kingsley? Blimey, I can’t believe he is still Minister.” Ginny smiled.

“Yes, he is. He just wanted to warn me about it since a lot of prisoners had gotten out.” He said seriously. “Also, I wanted to inform you about that USByou two gave us. We need to find out who the man’s source is.” He said. “He seemed to know a lot about the Organization and you in particular, Ginny.”

Ginny leaned back in the chair and knew she should be thinking about ways to find out that man’s source and why he seemed interested in her specifically since the video had been of her but her mind was still on the Azkaban mass breakout. She knew she shouldn’t really be worried about it considering all her enemies were dead but she couldn’t shake the feeling.

“Any ideas, Ginny?” Jeff asked, drawing her attention.

She bit her lip and looked over at Amélie who was looking between Jeff and Ginny.

“Nothing is coming to mind right now but Amélie was the one who got the USBand made sure he hadn’t made any copies. Let’s give her this assignment and I’ll watch from the sidelines and make certain everything goes right. I’m really tired of worrying about this bloody wanker.” Ginny shrugged.

“Mom!” Amélie snorted.

“It’s the truth.” Ginny told her.

“You are something else, Ginny.” Jeff laughed, “Okay. Amélie, do you think you can handle it?”

Amélie smiled widely, “of course, I can, Jeff.”

“Perfect, now get out. I have work to finish and when I see such beautiful women, I get distracted.” Jeff teased.

“It’s dangerous when you fancy a co-worker, Jeff. You know that.” Ginny reprimanded him jokingly.

“Yes ma’am I do.” He chuckled then looked back at his work, thoroughly dismissing them.

“Draco, I don’t know if I can help you. I want to but I don’t really have any information to give you.” Kingsley said as he sat back in his chair behind his desk and watched Draco pace in front of him.

The man was a mess, not that he’d say anything to him. Everyone who knew Draco knew he was torn apart after Ginny Weasley’s disappearance. They knew he loved the girl. The only one who hadn’t noticed all those years ago was Ginny herself.

Kingsley was surprised though that Draco hadn’t heard anything about her. Even he, the Minister, had heard a thing or two about the woman. She was part of another Organization; which or where, he didn’t know. He wished that he could have her back. She was perfect at her job; both her and Draco were his best employees but Kingsley guessed he was lucky that he at least still had Draco.

He just didn’t know for how long and that thought didn’t bother him any longer. Any day now, he would be retiring and living out in the middle of nowhere; just thinking about it brought a smile to his face.

“What are you smiling about, old man?” Draco frowned as he looked at Kingsley.

“Draco, must I remind you again that I am not only your boss but the Minister.” Kingsley said as he crossed his arms over his chest. “Have a little respect, boy.”

Draco simply rolled his eyes. “C’mon, Kingsley, I need to find her. Any information would be a great help.” Draco wasn’t one to beg but this was getting ridiculous. He needed to find her and the longer it took the longer and harder she would be to find. Seventeen years had already passed; he couldn’t waste any more time.

“I’ve told you already, I don’t know where she went. I could give you some sources that might be able to help you find her though. Maybe that will give you somewhere to start?” He asked.

Draco nodded quickly, his heart beat pounding faster at the possibility of finding his long-lost Red.

“Mom, I got some credible information but I need some help.” Amélie said walking into Ginny’s bedroom a week later after speaking to Jeff. She was lying on her bed finishing up her mugglehistorical romance novel; it was almost at the end where the hero came to save the heroine and they’d lived happily ever after with tons of muggle children.

Unfortunately that never happens in real life; Ginny thought bitterly as she looked at Amélie when she dropped some papers on her bed and sat down.

“What do you need help with, love?” Ginny asked as she put aside her novel.

She crossed her legs as she sat up and looked down at the papers Amélie had brought. There were pages after pages of information on Mr. Donald Moreno.

“Who is this?” Ginny asked as she picked up a paper with a picture of a middle aged man.

“That’s the man who had the USB.” Amélie explained as she shuffled through the papers. “My problem is that something isn’t right. You see this?” She asked pointing to a handwritten statement. “It says here that Mr. Moreno had a late night visitor a few weeks ago. A janitor that worked that night and saw the two talking but he couldn’t give me a description of the man. I spoke to him myself after I looked at the arrival and departure logs at the front desk of his office building. The thing is that there were no records of anyone being there. And just to make sure I even watched all the recorded video of that level, from a week before to a yesterday, trying to get an idea of who that person might be. I had thought that maybe they just didn’t sign in but mom, no one came at that time. I didn’t see one person enter or leave the building for a few hours during that time.”

“Really? That’s odd.” Ginny frowned as she looked at the papers as well. “The only way that he could know about this stuff is if his source was…” She stopped to think because there was no way that that could happen. They wouldn’t do that. There were laws, rules to follow, against this sort of thing. She bit her lip, not wanting to think that such a thing would be possible.

“The only way that he could know about this stuff is if his source was a wizard or witch,” Amélie finished for her.
