FIVE
HALLOWEEN
Halloween came with all sorts of joy: the costumes, the decorations, and the junior Halloween school-supervised party and sleepover. The air was crisp with the scent of fallen leaves as the teens were dropped off at their school.
Nearby the school gate, Mac, Tyler, Luna, and Darcy stood around, waiting for Nat to arrive. They watched other teens walk in with their costumes. a few girls were dressed as witches, completed with pointy hats and broomsticks. A group of boys walked past as characters from a popular video game while another teen was dressed as a tree, with branches and leaves sticking out.
"Wow, people have really gone all out this year!" Mac said with a huge grin, adjusting his bee wings as he studied the oncoming students.
"Indeed. Although, I wish all the girls didn't feel pressured to dress in such sexualized manner," Tyler observed.
"Yeah, I saw a group of sexy fruit on the way here!" Darcy chimed in enthusiastically.
"Were they strawberries?" Luna mumbled, trying to enunciate clearly despite her vampire teeth.
Darcy's brows furrowed at the unusual question before Mac jumped in, "Yeah, were they?" He piped up.
Just then, Nat arrived at the group with a huge smile, her ladybug antennas bobbing as she walked, "Hey, check out my costume!" She beamed, before posing for the group.
The group marveled at Nat's ladybug outfit, the vibrant red fabric adorned with black spots and her antennae bobbing with each step. However, there were red splotches scattered across the costume giving the bug a dead effect.
Nat's eyes widened as she took in Tyler's flower costume, which was a skirt with vibrant fabric petals. As she glanced at Mac, who stood beside Tyler in his bee outfit, realization struck her.
"We're like bug buddies!" Mac exclaimed, breaking the momentary silence. Nat forced a smile and her heart sank as she realized she accidentally joined a couples costume. Mac and Nat were both bugs, and Tyler was the flower they were both drawn to.
"Hey, look at us!" Nat managed, trying to sound cheerful. She couldn't help but feel like an outsider, a bug buzzing around a flower that was already claimed.
Tyler beamed, unaware of the turmoil in Nat's mind, "Isn't this amusing." She found the accidental costume match up funny.
"Yeah, hilarious," Nat echoed, her smile feeling more forced by the second.
"Cool 'stume, Nat!" Darcy interjected, eyeing the girl.
"Thanks."
"'Stume?" Mac questioned, looking to Darcy for an explanation.
"Yeah, short for costume," Darcy clarified. "My Dad made it up." They added.
A wave of understanding washed over Mac, "Right," He bobbed his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "And what are you dressed as, buddy?"
"Take a guess!"
"A camp counselor?"
"No, I'm--"
"A theatre actor in a drama piece?"
"No."
"A tennis player?"
"No."
"A magician?"
Darcy was taken aback, "No, I'm Fred," They disclosed, but the group remained confused. "From Scooby-Doo!" The group's confusion lingered.
~
Now, inside the school, students were setting up their sleeping bags and candy for the night ahead.
Nearby, in a corner, Nat's group settled, they unfurled their sleeping sacks and made themselves at home. As they got comfortable, Nat's phone buzzed with a message, "Guys, look," Nat said, glancing up from her screen, "My mom's already texting me about her first Halloween arrest of the season."
Luna looked over curious, "No way! What were they trying to do?" She inquired, meticulously placing her teddy bear to the side.
"The perp was trying to rob a Halloween store, what a dork." Nat chuckled.
~
Twenty minutes before the message, Y/N
was browsing the aisles when she spotted a shady-looking teenager stuffing a fake skeleton into their bag, "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" She approached the boy.
The thief jumped, looking guilty as he tried to hide the stolen item in his bag, "Uh, nothing officer, just, uh, browsing," the teen attempted to act nonchalantly.
"Browsing for skeletons, are we? Because that looks a lot like theft to me," Y/N remarked, keeping her gaze steady.
The thief stammered, "No, no, you got it all wrong! I was just, uh, trying it on!"
Y/N wasn't convicted, "Right, because everyone tries on a skeleton in the middle of a store. Come on, hands behind your back."
She then calmly grabbed the thief's arm and began to lead him towards the exit. However, the thief attempted to make a break for it, only to slip on a fake tombstone and crash to the floor.
~
Back in the present day, Mac chimed in, "I swear, those guys are so dumb," He chuckled. "I'd make a better criminal than any of them."
"Yeah, Maccie, you would be great! You could be an evil mastermind, and I can be your trusty sidekick: The chairkid," Darcy piped up.
"I like it." Mac bobbed his head. "And the best part about it, I wouldn't be caught."
"Oh, please."
"Come on."
The group muttered amongst themselves, "Yeah, you'd get nabbed, bud." Nat shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Oh, ho, ho!" Mac raised a brow. "Alright, challenge accepted," He declared.
Nat's brows furrowed together, "Challenge?"
"Yeah, I issue you a challenge," Mac repeated. "What do you think is the most valuable thing at this school?" A playful smile danced on his lips.
"Oh! The Excellence in Mathematics Award," Luna's face lit up.
"God, you're such a nerd," Mac quipped at Luna's comment before turning back to Nat. "All right, how about this? I bet you that by midnight tonight, I can steal the Excellence in Mathematics Award," He challenged. "If I lose I have to do all your homework for the rest of the semester, and if I win you need to give me all your Sonny's Angels. Deal?"
Nat considered the idea for a moment, "Only if we can pick teams."
"We have uneven numbers."
Nearby, Gino takes off their heart-shaped sunglasses, "Not for long, losers." He approached the pair. "I'll play." He affirmed.
Nat's eyes widened in surprise, "Wait, seriously?" She exchanged a look with Mac.
"Serious as a heart attack, babe," Gino responded.
"Right, that solves it," Mac said equally stunned by the unexpected turn of events. "Teams it is."
"Deal!" Nat concluded, sealing the decision with a handshake. "Alright, who picks first?"
"You can,"
"Okay..." Nat trailed off in thought momentarily, scanning the group of teens. "I choose Luna," She declared, pointing at her friend.
Luna beamed and joined Nat's side, "Yes, brains over brawns." She cheered.
"Alright, your turn, Mac," Nat said, bouncing on her heels excitedly.
"Okay, okay." Mac nodded at Nat's decision, then dramatically rubbed his chin as if deep in thought. "I choose... Darcy!" He pointed to them.
Darcy's face lit up, and they bounced over to Mac's side, exclaiming, "Oh, thank you so much, Mac! I'm going to give it my all!" They sealed the pairing with a high-five.
Nat glanced over the group, her eyes landing on Gino, "I choose Gino," She declared.
Gino straightened up, "Of course you choose me."
"Right, last but not least... Ty, you're with me," Mac concluded, smiling at Tyler. Tyler flashed a grin, before joining Mac's team. "And let the games begin!"
~
As the Halloween heist kicked off, the teams split up. Mac and Tyler followed Darcy toward the security system, their footsteps echoing down the hallway, "And how do you have the key for the security system?" Mac asked.
Darcy beamed with pride, "I'm a hallway monitor," They replied, approaching the door.
"Oh, lucky." Mac chuckled as the three approached the door.
"Yeah, I'm a pretty big deal around here," Darcy mentioned before expertly unlocking it. With a wide, proud grin, they swung the door open to reveal the security room.
Inside, rows of monitors displayed live feeds from every room in the school, "This is impressive." Tyler stated as she scanned the screens.
"Wow, Darce!" Mac marveled as he stepped into the room and looked around. "This is like something out of a spy movie!"
"Thanks. By this, we can spy on everything happening in the school. We have eyes in every room," Darcy elaborated.
"Nicely done, buddy!" Mac's gaze lingered on the monitors, taking in the scene in the gym where students were bustling about in costume, some were setting up their sleeping sacks while others danced to the music. He moved onto the next monitor, his brows furrowed slightly as he spotted a couple in the hallway. "Looks like some people are getting into the spirit of Halloween." He signaled.
Tyler took a closer look, "Price Eric and Prince Charming. How unexpected,"
"Okay, let's move on..." Darcy said, taking a seat in front of the monitors. They quickly scanned through the cameras before landing on the hallway where the trophy case was located. "Oh, no."
~
Through the security feed, Nat, Luna, and Gino stood before the trophy case where the Excellence of Mathematics Award was displayed, "...Now that we have sorted that, how do we first get the key?" Gino questioned, folding his arms over his chest
"We don't need a key." Nat soothed her team. "We can just throw something at the glass." She deadpanned.
"That could work--" Gino began.
"No!" Luna interjected. "We could get hurt or worse... expelled!" Her eyes widened with fear.
"Girl, you gotta get your priorities sorted," Gino muttered.
"Okay..." Nat paused, reconsidering her main idea. "Do you know where the key is then?" She turned to Luna.
"I do," Luna nodded. "I've seen the trophy cabinet key behind the principal's desk during our weekly lunch chats. Nat and I can retrieve the key, while you, Gino, stay here and guard the trophy." She decided firmly.
"Luna, that's brilliant!" Nat beamed, the idea completely jazzed her. Luna smiled back. "Gino, what do you say?"
Gino shrugged, "Sure, I guess I can hold down the fort."
"Yes!" Nat cheered. "Man, who would have known that a ladybug, a vampire, and Harry Styles would make such a good team..." She trailed off.
~
"Principal's office, here we come!" Nat's voice boomed through the security room speaker, audible to Darcy, Mac, and Tyler, who listened in on their entire plan.
"What dorks," Mac laughed, shaking his head in amusement as he watched Nat and Luna rush out of the camera's view. "So, here's the plan. Tyler and I follow them, grab the key, and get the trophy out. Darcy, you stay here and watch the feed, okay?"
"Agreed."
"Okay!"
"Great, go team..." Mac trailed off, his enthusiasm faltering as he realized they didn't have a team name. "We definitely need a team name," He drew his teeth over his lower lip.
"B.F.F's!" Darcy announced with a sudden burst of inspiration.
"What?" Mac and Tyler asked simultaneously.
"B.F.F's! Bee-flower-fred." Darcy explained, pointing to their respective costumes. "It's perfect! We are now called the B.F.F's," They elaborated. "And it has a double meaning-- best friends forever." They smiled softly.
Mac and Tyler exchanged a glance, contemplating the idea, and after a moment, they both nodded in agreement.
"It has a nice ring to it,"
"I like it."
"B.F.F's!" The three cheered before Mac and Tyler left the security room to follow Nat and Luna toward the principal's office, with Darcy watching the security feed.
~
Back with Nat and Luna, they made their way into the office. Their eyes darted around the room, searching for the trophy cabinet key, "It should be behind the principal's desk, in that cabinet," Luna signaled.
Nat nodded, her eyes focused on the cabinet. She carefully approached it, keeping an eye out for any signs of movement, "Toilets... gym... Ah! Trophy cabinet," She murmured, spotting the label on the cabinet that indicated it held the key they were looking for.
"Nice!" Luna cheered silently. "Let's roll before Tyler, Mac, and Darcy get here and steal the key from us." She waved the girl over urgently.
"Yeah, she's so gorgeous and evil," Nat said absentmindedly, thinking about Tyler as she approached the door.
"Huh?" Luna questioned, not fully hearing Nat.
Just then, Mac and Tyler entered the room. Nat's brows furrowed together, confused by Luna's question, "Oh, hey..." Nat smiled, trying to appear nonchalant.
"Act normal," Luna muttered to Nat beside her whilst waving at the other team.
"How do you expect me to act normal? I'm wearing a ladybug costume," Nat whispered in reply.
"Funny finding you two in the principal's office," Tyler stated as she noticed the key in Nat's hand. "May we borrow that key for a moment?"
Nat's heart skipped a beat; she didn't want to betray Luna, "No," She replied firmly. It was the right decision.
"Please, please, please, please, please, please," Mac practically begged for the key, which took the three girls in the room aback.
Luna grimaced, watching her brother, "Finders keepers-- losers weepers." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"Fine, whatever, bite me!" Mac shrugged, trying to play it cool.
"That's the wrong thing to say to a vampire," Luna pointed to her costume. "Now, move," She instructed sharply as she and Nat dashed out, prompting Mac and Tyler to rush after them.
Mac stumbled slightly in his bee costume, while Tyler trailed behind him, trying to keep up.
~
They all dashed through the hallway toward the trophy cabinet, only to be halted by a swarm of dancers emerging from nearby rooms, their costumes dazzling and their moves captivating. The unexpected sight caught the four off guard, momentarily distracting them from their goal, "Which one of you bozos did this?" Luna looked back at Tyler and Mac.
"Us? This requires planning, something we both know I wouldn't do," Mac confessed.
Just then, more dancers emerged from the nearby rooms, swirling around the four, their movements almost hypnotic, "Luna, do you have eyes on Tyler and Mac?" Nat jumped over the dancers.
"I can't see anyone!" Luna yelled over the music.
"There's too many dancers!" Mac cringed, keeping his arms to himself.
"I can see Nat and Tyler. Mac, where are you?" Tyler called out.
"I don't know. This is madness!"
"Aah!"
"Who hired you?"
"This is crazy!"
As the four scrambled around confused, a nearby dancer swiftly snatched the key from Nat's hand and vanished into the crowd before all the performers dispersed back into the classrooms, "The key!" Nat's face dropped, showing her empty hands.
"The trophy!" Mac called out, pointing at the now empty display box, a look of shock spread across everyone's face.
~
"I know you guys took the trophy," Nat gestured towards Tyler and Mac. "And we aren't gonna let you get away with this," She added.
"We didn't take it. It was you two. Luna loves trophies," Tyler pointed out, narrowing her eyes at Luna.
"It's true. You have a whole shelf of them in front of your window," Mac recalled, backing up his girlfriend.
"Yeah, and when the light hits them they turn into a disco ball! Sue me!" Luna declared a playful smirk on her face.
"Well, it certainly wasn't Mac, Darcy and me. We were out here the whole time." Tyler indicated, sounding slightly defensive.
"Oh, Yeah? Where is Darcy then?" Nat questioned, noticing they were missing a teammate.
As Mac and Tyler scanned the hallway, the realization slowly dawned on them. The expressions on their faces shifted, realizing how guilty they looked because Darcy wasn't there with them, "Well, where is Gino?" Mac quipped back, realizing they were also missing a teammate.
A wave of realization washed over Nat and Luna as they exchanged a look, "Well, it's still a long time until midnight, and all I have to say is, you better watch out," Nat broke the silence before walking away. "Come on, Luna."
Forcing a smile at Mac and Tyler, Luna trailed after her friend as Mac started walking the opposite way, "Come on, babe," He waved her over.
~
With the two teams splitting off, Nat and Luna entered the bathroom. They found Gino standing near the sinks with a triumphant smile on his face, "So... was the operation a success?" Luna asked, hopeful.
"You tell me?" Gino said, reaching behind a stack of paper towels and pulling out the gleaming trophy. Nat and Luna's eyes widened in delight. "I blended right in with my dancers, effortlessly slipping the keys from your hands. I waltzed over to the trophy cabinet, opened it, and snagged the trophy. And the best part? No one even noticed me slip away," He boasted. "I gotta hand it to you... great plan."
"Thanks, I'm silly and childish while simultaneously being incredibly knowledgeable and wise," Nat replied, proud of herself. "Right... let's go hide this trophy." She started the next phase of her plan.
~
With Nat, Luna, and Gino off to stash the trophy, Mac and Tyler strolled up to the security room, "I know they've got the trophy. We just have to check the security footage to see where they've stashed it—" He began, only to find the door locked. "Seriously? Locked?" He grumbled, placing his hands on his hips.
Just then, a text came through on Tyler's phone from their B.F.F's group chat, "Emergency! Meet at the sleeping bags!" She read out Darcy's message.
"Oh, no." Mac's face dropped. "Let's go!" They hurried off to find Darcy, leaving the locked security room behind.
~
Mac and Tyler navigated through the students dancing and over to the sleeping bags to find Darcy packing up their belongings, "What's the situation?" Tyler asked.
"Are you okay?" Mac's brows furrowed with concern.
Darcy looked up from their bag, their eyes watery, "I, uh, got caught watching the security cameras. They've asked me to leave," They explained.
"What? No." Mac's face deflated.
"Yeah," Darcy shrugged, trying to maintain a cheerful demeanor. "It's okay, my Dad is already on his way. We're gonna go home and watch 'Celebrities Underwater,' so it's not so bad." They looked on the bright side.
"'Celebrities Underwater'?" Tyler questioned.
"Yeah, it's the one where the celebrities are underwater." Darcy tried to jog their memory.
"Great, thanks for clearing that up," Tyler said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Darcy, your father has arrived!" a teacher called out, interrupting the conversation.
"Okay," Darcy responded softly before turning to their friend. "Alright, good luck with the heist--the last thing I saw on the monitor was Nat's team rush off to the library," They recalled, their voice lacking the usual enthusiasm.
"Ah! They did have it." Mac's face lit up. "Thanks, buddy!" He tapped the teen on the shoulder as they rushed past. "We'll save you a candy bag!" He called back as he and Tyler hurried out of the room. Darcy waved them off.
~
With the news that Nat, Luna, and Gino had possibly stashed the trophy away in the library, Mac and Tyler quickly headed in that direction. They entered the library, scanning the room for any sign of their friends or the trophy.
The library was adorned with Halloween decorations, cobwebs, fake spiders, and a green witch in the corner. Nat, Luna, and Gino were nowhere to be seen, "Where do you think they could have concealed the trophy?" Tyler whispered to Mac, her eyes darting around the room.
Mac's face scrunched up as he thought, "There!" He exclaimed suddenly, pointing to the academic journal section before strolling over. "These three books don't match their neighbors' dust patterns," He explained before taking the books off the shelf to reveal the trophy. "Whalla!"
"Bingo!" Tyler exclaimed in triumph. "Mac, that was incredible," Her eyes were wide with awe at his work.
"Thanks, babe," Mac smiled softly at his girlfriend. "Right, let's go rub our win in their faces!" He suggested.
"Hold your horses," Tyler interjected, placing a hand on Mac's arm as a playful smirk lingered on her lips. "We have ample time and..." She tilted her head. "We're alone." She raised an eyebrow, alluding to something more.
Mac glanced around the empty library before turning back to Tyler, "Oh..." He caught on to her hint.
With a shared smile, Mac pulled Tyler closer, their lips meeting in a tender kiss. They giggled softly before glancing around the library, quickly retreating behind a nearby bookcase.
~
After about five minutes, Mac and Tyler strolled casually back to their sleeping bags, they tried to maintain their composure as they exchanged knowing glances and subtle smiles. Mac deftly concealed the trophy in his pillowcase, "Nice," He whispered, and he and Tyler celebrated the upcoming win with a high-five.
As the pair cheered, Nat, Luna, and Gino arrived back at the group. Luna mimicked a ticking clock with her fingers, "Tick-tick-tick-tick," She said, narrowing her eyes at the pair. "Time's running out," She reminded the two.
"Indeed, you three better prepare your surprised expressions," Tyler suggested, "Because we just won." She added.
"Huh?" Luna crossed her arms over her chest.
Gino scoffed, "Oh, please."
"What?" Nat's brows furrowed.
Mac was confused by their response, "We found the trophy, guys!" He chuckled, playing along with a sneaky game that they didn't know they were playing. "It was hiding out behind the academic section of the library," He explained.
"What? No, it wasn't. We wouldn't leave it in such an obvious place," Luna responded, shaking her head.
"But you did." Mac pointed out, equally confused now.
"No, we didn't." Nat denied, looking perplexed.
"Then how do you explain this?" Mac questioned, pulling out the trophy and holding it up for them to see. The trio exchanged confused looks, trying to make sense of the situation.
"I have no idea." Nat's brows knit together. "It's been in my bug backpack this entire time." She revealed, taking off her bag and opening it to show off the second trophy.
"Plot twist." Gino's eyes widened.
"What is going on?" Luna asked.
"Who has the real trophy?" Tyler's face was puzzled.
The teams eagerly examined their trophies, hoping to find clues to the whereabouts of the real trophy. Nat and Mac, working in perfect sync, inspected every inch of their trophy, running their fingers over the engraved letters. As they turned the trophy upside down, a small note caught their eye, nestled discreetly on the bottom. It read, "'I am watching you'." They synced.
A wave of realization dawned over Mac, he swiftly turned to the security camera, "Darcy!" He pointed.
~
The teams scrambled into the security room, only to find it unlocked and empty. "Ooh, cool super spy area," Nat nodded in amazement, momentarily forgetting their mission.
"I know, right?" Mac agreed. "It even has a drone." He directed.
"Focus, you two," Luna interrupted. "It's gotta be--"
As Luna began to search, the monitors flickered to life, captivating the team's attention. A screen lit up with Gino's face, "Turn around, losers!" He declared, his voice echoing through the room.
The group suddenly turned around to see Gino with the trophy in his hands, "I have the real trophy!" He smiled triumphantly. The group was stunned, exchanging confused glances as they processed the unexpected turn of events. "Another plot twist."
~
Nat blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of the situation. "What? You betrayed us?" Her brows lifted in surprise.
Gino bobbed his head in confirmation, "I did, we just weren't seeing eye-to-eye." Gino faked a frown.
"It's because you're taller than me, jackass." Nat snapped as Luna soothed her friend with a pat. "You weren't even a winning option." She muttered.
"I knew it was Gino!" Mac pointed an accusatory finger. "It all makes sense, except for the parts I don't understand and the fact I still kinda think Darcy did this," He rambled, still slightly confused.
"Nope, it was all me," Gino confirmed. "It all started five hours ago with my distraction-- my dance troop who swarmed the halls with grace and beauty--"
"But that distraction was a part of my plan," Nat piped up.
Gino shrugged, "Yes, but when I took the key and unlocked the cabinet, I took out two trophies: a fake one for Mac's team, and a fake one for your team before rearranging it to look like I took the real trophy." He explained.
"Dang it, I should have known," Luna shook her head.
"Anyway, with the cabinet unlocked, and you four fighting over who had the trophy, I hid one fake trophy in the library and kept the other with me, which became Nat's." Gino continued, recalling the event.
"And I shoved it straight in my bug backpack," Nat recalled.
"Yeah, like a little loser." Gino attempted to pat the girl on the head, but Nat swatted his hand away.
Mac shook his head, "I bet you were the one who told on Darcy too," He accused.
"Oh, no. They did that themselves," Gino replied.
~
A few hours before, Darcy was sat in the security camera room, surrounded by screens showing different areas of the school. They are dancing and mouthing the words to the music playing from their phone, "That this is thriller, thriller night--" The phone boomed.
Suddenly, the door swings open, and a teacher stands in the doorway, looking shocked, "What on earth is going on in here?" The teacher asked loudly over the music.
Darcy freezes, their cheeks flushed with embarrassment, "Oh, uh, hi... I was just... uh..." They stuttered.
~
"Poor buddy." Mac's face deflated.
"Yeah, but it worked out perfectly, though, since they sent you guys running to the library to find the wrong trophy--and with you two there and Nat having her fake trophy--the real trophy, that was sat in the trophy case the entire time, was left for me," Gino elaborated. "And no one had any idea it was me until you found the notes on the bottom of your trophies which said 'I'm watching you'." He concluded.
"And we rush in here thinking it was Darcy, and you trapped us." Mac connected the dots.
Gino chuckled, "Yep, and here you are, basking in the presence of the very first Halloween Heist champion. It's called winning, look it up." He quipped.
"Wow, cool name." Luna bobbed her head.
Mac raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed, "Okay, I gotta give it to you, Gino. That was some next-level genius stuff."
"I know." Gino shrugged.
"Yeah, you played us all. I didn't see it coming," Nat nodded, a reluctant smile tugging at her lips.
Gino smirked, basking in their admiration, "Well, it wasn't easy. But in the end, it was all worth it."
Luna grinned, "You definitely earned it."
"Yes, congratulations, Gino." Tyler clapped.
Gino gave a mock bow, "Thank you, thank you. I'll be expecting my trophy and all the accolades that come with it," He said, smiling eagerly. "As the reigning and only Halloween Heist champion, I hereby decree that everyone must now party in my honor."
~
As the first Halloween heist came to an end, the group rejoined the school Halloween party. They all danced to the music, with Luna holding Darcy on FaceTime, Tyler singing along, and Gino twirling their new trophy in celebration.
Meanwhile, Mac and Nat twirled, their bug antennas bobbing as they jumped, "Looks like we both lost," Nat reminded Mac.
Mac chuckled, shaking her head, "Yeah, but it was still a blast. And hey, there's always next year." He pointed out.
Nat nodded, a small smile playing on her lips, "Definitely. Next year, we're taking Gino down." She decided.
"Oh, you got it!" Mac and Nat concluded their pact with a high-five.
As the music boomed and the students danced the night away, Gino called out, "I'm an amazing human slash genius!"
~
Hey! Happy non-Halloween!
If any of you have any suggestions for the book, I'm all ears :))
