10 | BRITNEY, BITCH

The two were suited up and in position. "How are the suits?" Fury queried the two.

"Did you steal this outfit from Britney Spears herself? It's literally just a red catsuit." Val uncomfortably shifted around in the jumpsuit.

"Mine a little tight around the old web shooter." Peter informed Fury.

"Parker!" Val and Fury shouted in unison, embarrassed to even think about what he had just said.

"Energy's spiking. We have seismic activity." Fury announced into the comms. Val watched the street from where she was hiding to see if she would catch a glimpse of the elemental before anyone else did.

Peter spotted it first since he was at the prime location. The monster erupted from the ground and he looked like he was made of molten lava. "Okay, he's here! Beck, you ready? You know what to do." Peter announced into the comm.

Val did as she was told and jumped out into the middle of the crowd and began blasting the creature with flames. It managed to make him stumble back, but it really had no major effect. "Fires not a good idea. It only pissed him off! I can disintegrate metal around him, but that's all I think I can do to help." Val reported through the earpiece.

"Anything will help." Quentin declared with a flat and almost serious voice.

Val ran around the monster, dodging his vicarious swings and touched everything that was comprised of metal. Fire hydrants, the carousel and more were all turned to ash as Val ran by it and touched it. But, she was only one person in that large space. The monster was still absorbing metals from other places she couldn't reach or wasn't fast enough to get to.

Peter tried to distract it by shooting webs. But once his webs would hit the monster, it'd disintegrate into ashes from the flames. Val stopped before the ferris wheel. She knew it'd be a hefty task to try to take it down before the elemental got to it, but it had to be done so he couldn't grow bigger. Before she went to destroy it, she heard some faint screams from the top of the wheel. "Help!! Britney help!!" Val looked up and saw Betty and Ned sitting helplessly at the top of the wheel.

"What the hell? I know this bitch did not just call me Britney!" Val smacked her lips, having a feeling it was Ned who made up the name to Betty. Not only was she shocked by the nickname, she was also shocked that Ned and Betty were not in the theatre watching the opera. Ned knew better and still went out to participate in the carnival. She supposed he wanted to be the damsel in distress that day.

Val began to climb the ferris wheel through the ladder in the center of it, grumbling profanities to herself the entire way up. All the while, explosions, fire and Peter swinging around bugging the monster took part in the huge showdown going on between Mysterio and the elemental. Val felt like she was missing out while trying to save her two classmates.

Once she reached the top, she took hold of Betty and led her to the ladder that was like... five feet away from her. "Thank you... what's your name again? I'm having a hard time believing what my boyfriend told me your name was." Betty smiled, gratefully at Valdís.

Val turned to Ned. Although half of her face was covered, her glaring eyes were telling enough. "It's Britney, bitch." Val answered in a different pitched voice.

"Now, come on. Let's get you two out of here before you get hurt." Val waved over Ned and had him go down the ladder after Betty. Val stayed at the top, waiting for Ned and Betty to safely get down as she stood guard to protect them from the elemental if need be. She watched Peter shoot his webs continuously, as if it did anything to the monster, and Mysterio actually take some hits on the monster.

A few moments later, Val saw that Ned and Betty had safely ran away on foot back to where they were supposed to be, then she began to make her way down the wheel. The elemental spotted the wheel and began charging at it. "Peter..." Val uttered into the earpiece. There was no answer and the monster was still going for the wheel.

"Peter!!! I need a lift, now!" Panic struck her voice and she grew frantic as she began to hastily go down the ladder.

The monster only grew closer and Val's body went cold. She braced for impact— or death.

But, suddenly, her saving grace finally came. Peter swooped in and swiftly grabbed her. He swung away right in time, as the elemental had just touched the wheel and began to absorb it. "You're a real asshole, you know that?" Val derided.

Peter landed on the ground and let go of her. "I'm sorry!" Peter sarcastically responded to her. Peter rose his hands up by his head and began walking backwards away from her.

"You think this is a game?" Val folded her arms across her chest. Peter shot her a smile before swinging away, avoiding being berated for scaring her for not letting her know he was on the way. "Ugh." Val groaned.

"We've got to hit him with something he can absorb!" Peter shouted into the comms as he hurried over to help Quentin.

Mysterio agreed, and without a response, he began attacking the elemental with his green colored beams. Val didn't quite know what it was, but it seemed to be weakening the monster. His bright green beam bored into the monster and it pushed him back into a building behind him. Unfortunately, the monster began to absorb the metal scaffolding of the building, growing even stronger than before. "It's too late." Val shook her head, seeing the creature that would probably haunt the whole world forever now.

But then, a new strike of hope sparked. Quentin was willing to sacrifice himself to kill the monster. "Whatever happens, I'm glad we met." Quentin sighed out into the comm.

"Beck, what are you doing?!" Peter shrieked.

"What I should've done last time." Quentin grumbled, then flew straight into the monster charged up in his green energy. A black and green hole erupted in the middle of the elemental's chest once Quentin threw himself at it, then the monster turned entirely green and exploded into ash.

Peter hurried over to Mysterio, who was laying on the ground, crippled and singed from the final blow to the monster. Quentin groaned and moaned in pain, and Peter sighed in relief once he realized that man was not dead.

Three black cars pulled onto the scene immediately. Out came Dmitri, Maria and Fury. "So it's over?" Maria questioned Quentin when she walked over to him. Peter was helping him sit up right. Val was standing from afar, observing the destruction the elemental had caused.

"That was the last of it." Mysterio took a deep breath, glad it was over.

"Well, not the last threat we will ever face. We need to stay vigilant. There's a void in this world for someone like you. Hill and I are going to Europol Headquarters in Berlin tomorrow, you should join us." Fury proposed to Mysterio.

Mysterio got up and shook Fury's hand, firmly. "Thank you. I just might take you up on that." He told the man.

Fury turned to Val and Peter. "You two have got gifts. But you didn't want to be here." Fury began.

"Mr. Fury I—" Peter wanted to interject, to make an excuse, anything. He did like to be a superhero. Just not on his vacation. It was all very bad timing and it made Peter and Val seem like very bad superheroes.

"I'd love to have you in Berlin, too. But you've got to decide whether you're going to step up or not. Stark chose you, and he practically raised you, Val. He made you, Peter, an avenger. I need that. The world needs that. Maybe Stark was wrong. Was he? The choice is yours." Fury spoke in a belittling tone towards the two.

Val was beginning to get angry. "I'm sorry? Did you not just see us kick ass out there? There was only so much our abilities could do. Not even my parents could've done some shit like that. That doesn't make us any less of a hero." Val hissed at Fury.

"Choose." Was all Fury said before he walked away from the scene. Val knew what he was saying. Decide whether she wanted to be a regular teenager, or a superhero. Because there was no such thing as regular in the life of a superhero.
