Chapter Twenty - Two ~ Watch When You Blink

When Ginny opens her eyes, she’s standing in any alleyway in Knockturn Alley. She sighed, as she ran her fingers through her hair. She needed to relax; but she couldn’t help it. Her mother was a bloody idiot. Ginny rolled her neck, trying to defuse the tension in her body then began to make her way out of Knockturn Alley. Truthfully, her mother wasn’t a bloody idiot, she was mental. Yeah, that had to be it because no person, magical or muggle, in their right state of mind would willingly set up a blind date for their daughter with a bloke who looked like her cheating, lying, wanker of an ex-boyfriend.

“Mum is mental…” Ginny whispered to herself as she turned a corner, looking back when she heard a suspicious noise.

She stopped, frowned as she looked at the empty space behind her.

Someone had been watching her; following her, if she was right.

Who? Ginny wondered but brushed the thought aside as she continued to look back as she walked out of Knockturn Alley into Diagon Alley.

She then collided with someone.

“Bugger,” she muttered as she rubbed her shoulder which had rammed into the other person.

“I’m terribly sorry,” the woman’s voice had Ginny looking up into brown eyes.

“Pansy, Pansy Parkinson?” Ginny asked, shocked that the woman was standing in front of her.

“Oh, it’s the Weasel – ah, I mean, hullo, Ginny.” Pansy smirked.

Ginny rolled her eyes, “Hullo, Pansy.”

“Sorry, old habit,” Pansy grinned then rubbed down her slim, fancy maroon dress. It looked amazing on her and Ginny couldn’t help but be envious. The dress probably cost more than she made in a month. She huffed which caused Pansy’s eyebrows to rise in surprise.

“Upset about something?” She asked.

“Just had a horrible night,” Ginny told her. It wasn’t exactly a lie, really.

“Really..? Tell me about it. I had an awful date. Just left him; he took me to the Leaky Cauldron. Me! A date at the Leaky Cauldron? Puh-lease!” She snorted, rolling her eyes.

“My mum set me up on a blind date,” Ginny nodded when Pansy’s eyes widened in shock, “and with some bloke who looks like Harry potter.” She added.

“No!” Pansy gasped.

Ginny nodded again.

With that, Pansy cracked up with laughter, tears spilling from her closed eyes as she laughed harder and harder; her make-up staying impeccable.

Magic sure was amazing; Ginny thought sarcastically as she continued to watch Pansy Parkinson laugh, really laugh right before her very eyes.

When Pansy began to cool down, Ginny frowned, “finished now?”

“Sorry, really, but that is bloody hilarious!” Pansy told her as she brushed a lock of her glossy black hair behind her studded ear.

Ginny inhaled, exhaled deeply and began to walk away from the laughing woman.

“No, no, c’mon, bollocks, you’re sensitive. Let me buy you a drink,” Pansy smiled sincerely at Ginny and she couldn’t do anything but tell the other woman okay.

Draco watched as Pansy and Ginny left the spot they had been. He sighed; he had almost gotten caught by the Weasel. He needed to be more careful. If Ginny ever found out that Draco was on to her…well, let it be said that things wouldn’t go smoothly.

He just couldn’t help his curiosity; and yes, he knew that curiosity killed the cat.

It’s a good thing he was more like a dragon; he snorted at that thought as he looked around the corner and caught a glimpse of fiery red hair go into a pub.

He closed his eyes, leaning back against the wall. He knew she was part of the secret organization within the Ministry of Magic that he was part of. He, himself, had spoken to Kingsley about recruiting her after having multiple discussions with Robards and Dawlish about her potential and abilities during her Auror training. He just wanted a little peek at her power; just one tiny little peek.

He had been walking through Knockturn Alley after selling some of his father’s old items to Mr. Borgin from Borgin & Burke. He needed to get those things out of Malfoy Manor since his father was locked away in Azkaban, thankfully. As he left the shop, he had spotted Ginny Weasley’s red hair standing in the alley a few feet from him. He had immediately hid himself in the shadows. When she began to walk, he had followed her hoping, in vain obviously, that she would use her power.

She hadn’t and she’d also bumped into Pansy; of all the blasted people in Diagon Alley she could run into.

As the pair disappeared inside, Draco decided to let it go and head back home. He wondered when he would get the chance to see his redhead as apparated home.

Pansy forced Ginny into a stool in front of the bar. The bartender came by and smiled flirtatiously at both women.

Ginny flushed as the man, who introduced himself as Jeff, asked for they’d like. Pansy muttered some drink before Ginny could call out anything.

“What was that?” Ginny asked Pansy who smiled mischievously.

“Don’t worry about it. When you get it, just drink it. You’ll take all the fun out of life if you ask too many questions.” Pansy told her.

Ginny sighed, Pansy was an interesting witch; she figuring that Pansy had changed a lot since the year she had been at Hogwarts. Ginny didn’t really know her there but she’d come pretty close to hexing the hell out of her the night of the Final Battle. Not that she did, anyway.

Jeff dropped two glasses of some strange drink in front of them, winked then walked away.

“What is that?” Ginny asked as she brought the drink to eye level and tried to figure out what it was. Then sniffed and bit her lip; whatever it was, it smelled strong.

“Drink up!” Pansy took a deep sip and Ginny followed suit.

Two hours later…

“Pannnn-see! Pan-see! One more, one more!” Ginny chuckled as she spilled her drink on the bar.

Pansy laughed next to her and ordered two more from Jeff.

“Can’ya answer a personal question?” Pansy asked as she looked at Ginny.

Ginny nodded.

“What do you think of Draco?”

Instantly Ginny flushed bright red.

“Why are – why are you asking?” Ginny shook her head trying to sober herself knowing that it wouldn’t be a good idea to answer that question.

“Curiosity,” Pansy shrugged.

“Draco…ah,” Ginny bit her lip, “he’s sexy,” she whispered.

“Sexy? Did you say he was sexy?” Pansy chuckled.

“I had a dream the other night – ” Ginny immediately stopped when she realized what she was going to say.

“No, no, no way! You can’t bloody stop! Finish, I want to hear more!” Pansy pushed her so hard Ginny almost fell off the stool.

“Whoa, hey there!” Ginny righted herself.

“Finish! Or I will call Mr. Draco Malfoy himself over here!”

Ginny closed her eyes tightly and whispered, “We were snogging and it probably would have led on to more things.”

“You snogged Draco?” Pansy said so loud that some of the other patrons looked over.

“Not so loud, I didn’t snog Draco! It was a dream, you idiot.” Ginny growled.

Pansy grinned deviously.

“Jeff, Jeff!”

The bartender came running.

“One more drink!” Pansy snapped her fingers, “Pronto!”

Jeff ran off to get another drink.

Three drinks later, Ginny was passed out, her head lying on the counter of the bar. Pansy looked at her, amusement glistening in her eyes.

“Jeff, can I borrow a piece of parchment, some ink and your owl?” Pansy asked, her eyelashes fluttering flirtatiously.

Jeff returned with all the things; Pansy wrote something down quickly and then sent the owl on it’s way.

“Jeff, I know you are supposed to close now but can you wait for someone to come pick her up. They’ll be here soon. I just need to leave. I have another…engagement.” She smirked as Jeff nodded. She stood, grabbed her cloak and whispered, “it was great hanging out, Weasel,” then left her new friend sleeping at the bar.

~.~.~

Draco,

Come quickly to the bar you watched us enter. I know you were there.

Don’t try to deny it. Weasel didn’t. I have someone I need to be.

Come pick her up. She’s truly a light weight.

I’m sure she’d enjoy your company much more than mine.

Maybe, maybe not.

Now, hurry. Jeff is about to close up.

Don’t want anything to happen to your little Red.

Draco pushed open the door to the pub and could see Ginny’s red hair lying against the bar. The man, Jeff, Pansy was talking about was cleaning cups a few steps away from her.

“You didn’t do anything to her, right?” Draco asked his voice dangerous.

Jeff shook his head quickly.

Draco nodded as he gently shook Ginny.

She mumbled something about talking to some wanker and photos. He frowned when she didn’t wake, though. He sighed as he realized she wouldn’t wake. He softly slipped one arm under her knees and the other under her arms; and when Jeff turned his back on the two, Draco ran.

He stopped running when they came to her door. Ginny hadn’t even moved in his arms. Her body touching his sent tremors through his. It was the oddest feeling he’d ever felt. Her small frame felt like a feather in his fingers. He didn’t want to wake her because she looked angelic as she slept but they needed to go inside.

He gently brushed his lips against her forehead and whispered, “we need to get inside, Red.”

She snuggled closer to him, wrapped her arms around his neck. She opened her eyes a little bit, and then shut them quickly.

The next thing Draco knew they were standing in Ginny’s bedroom; her bed mere feet from where they stood.

They had…they had – Sweet Merlin, Draco couldn’t believe it. They’d traveled without a wand!

Suddenly, Ginny’s chocolate brown eyes snapped open and she looked into his silvery – gray eyes. She gasped, disappeared from his arms and appeared on the other side of her bed.

Draco stared at her; his eyes wide and expression shocked.

“Bloody hell,” Ginny whispered as she bit her lip.
She looked up to see Draco smirking at her.

“So, that’s what Kinglsey meant when he said to watch when you blinked.”
