Chapter Thirteen ~ Gotcha
Ginny,
I spoke to Kingsley and you should be receiving a reply anytime today.
I believe it will be good news. Now, you’re really going to have to do this.
Tell George. I’m sure he’ll be ecstatic.
And don’t tell anyone about what you saw earlier or you remember that time in your fourth year that something happened and you promised me not to tell anyone? Well, this is like that. I’m sure no one would like to know what happened that one night when you had too much firewhiskey in the common room with a certain someone, now do they?
Yes, I understand this is blackmail. You cannot tell the authorities, considering that I am the authorities.
Well best of luck to you. See you soon, tonight possibly?
Dinner with Luna, sound good?
Much love,
Neville
Ginny sat staring down at the letter as tons of emotions passed through her; excitement because Kingsley would respond soon, anger that Neville still remembered that bloody night and nervousness that even if she gets in, she’ll let everyone down.
Ugh, she groaned as she ran a hand through her hair and took a sip of her tea. She shouldn’t stress yet since she hadn’t received the response.
She stood, stretching like a cat and decided to take a shower.
When she got out of the shower, she sat down on her couch and picked up the muggle historical romance she’s been reading lately. Artemis jumped up on the couch and curled against. As petted Artemis under her ears, in the spot that she absolutely loves and opened the book. If she remembered correctly, she was at a very good part.
“His fingers brushed against the bodice of her vibrant red gown sending shivers down her spine. She exhaled, breathing in his wild, masculine scent. Her body was burning as if a flame was ignited within her. It did that every time he was near, every time he touched her. His head dipped as his strong arm wrapped around her slim waist. His hand caressed her cheek and then lifted her chin; drawing her deep brown eyes to his cool silvery - gray eyes. They made her feel as if she were drowning within them. She licked her lips; her mouth and lips suddenly dry. This caused him to look at her full lips in a hungry, primitive way; his eyes begging her to allow him to devour her beautiful mouth. As his head bent for a better angle, Draco’s eyes filled with lust –” wait, DRACO?
She looked at the name written on the page. Draco? Draco was not the name of the male protagonist in this muggle story. His name was…was – think it was Connor or something of the sort; Ginny told herself. Finding it odd, she skimmed more pages.
“Draco stared at her completely bare body and his expression screamed hunger –” she flipped to another page. “As he touched her, her body exploded with pleasure but it felt as if it was the pleasure was building inside of her. Draco was bringing her to – ” She flipped faster; no, no, no! She groaned. “He pushed harder, burying himself within her and as he beat against her body, Ginny cried out, the name Draco on her lips as he brought her pleasure that she never thought – that tosser! Messing with my things!” She growled.
He had spelled their names as the main characters of her raunchy historical romance book! She was so livid. She was going to kill him, murder him. She tossed the book aside as stood; he must have done it the other day when everyone was there at her apartment. She couldn’t believe he had done that to her favorite book. She knew the spell to return it to the original names but she was so angry.
She didn’t do it.
She checked the time and saw it was a little passed three thirty. Furiously, she grabbed her cloak and left the apartment, muttering the spells to set up the protective wards. She made her way down the stairs and threw open the front doors to WWW. Everyone in the store looked over at her. She was fuming, her face slightly flushed; her wild, flaming red mane of hair flying around her. Some flinched at the angry look in her eyes; others sighed and moved out of the way.
Brave George Weasley did neither. He walked up to her.
“I thought you got off work already. I didn’t expect you to come back. Do you want more hours?” He asked innocently. He knew her temper, being the only other female in the Weasley family besides their mother. She was a hell-cat; wild, dangerous and bloodthirsty when she was in a temper.
And she was definitely in one right now. He groaned inwardly. This was nothing going to end well.
“Where is her?” She growled.
“Who..?” He asked confused. He had no idea who she was asking about.
“Where is Draco Malfoy?” She hissed.
His eyes widened comically.
“Draco is – wait, why are you looking for him?” George asked. She was his sister, his favorite sister; well, his only sister and he loved her but Draco was his only other employee. He needed him even though he had already started looking for more help once Draco had informed him about Ginny’s need to get a new job, to start a new life.
“He ruined my blasted book!” She exclaimed.
“Your book? You’re this cross over a book?” Honestly, George couldn’t believe.
“It’s my favorite book!” She replied. “Now where is he? I’ll kill the git.”
“What’s the matter now?”
Both redheads turned to find Draco leaning against the counter, arms crossed leisurely.
“Draco Malfoy, you tosser! You ruined my favorite book!” Ginny growled.
He smirked at her and couldn’t ignore the fact that she was way more beautiful when she was angry. Her eyes flashed, her mane whipped around her. It was truly a sight. He felt himself already responding to her. His heart was pounding quickly and he was filled with excitement. He would rather fight Ginny everyday than make love to the most beautiful women.
There’s definitely something wrong with me, he thought comically.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” He told her innocently though he was smirking as he said it. He knew she didn’t believe him for a second.
“YOU damn LIAR! Why does it say your name inside my muggle book? Draco is not exactly a common name.” She watched him suspiciously.
He wasn’t listening because every time his name left her lips, he couldn’t pull himself from the sensation he felt inside of him.
“- it’s not fair! I was trying to enjoy a peacefully day at home, waiting for – ” she was saying until he cut her off.
“Have you received word from Kingsley yet?” He asked her.
She was so caught off guard that her mouth actually dropped open.
“I’ll take that as a no,” he chuckled.
“How do you know about that?” She asked, amazed.
“Kingsley informed me,” He told her as he grabbed her arm and pulled her to the back area of the store.
George watched them two disappear with a small smile on his face.
~.~.~
“Kingsley told you? Is that a good thing?” Ginny asked worriedly.
“It just means he trusts me.” He shrugged, “well, more than Potter since I’m sure he hasn’t found out.”
“If Harry found out he’d be giving me a quite an earful of ‘are you sure?’ and maybe some, ‘it’s really dangerous, Gin, you don’t know what’s out there.’” Ginny snorted, “I know perfectly well what’s out there. I was possessed by Tom in my first year at Hogwarts, fought in the Battle at the Department of Mysteries and fought in the Final Battle at Hogwarts even though everyone was trying to protect me. I would have taken Bellatrix down if my mum hadn’t jumped in.” She growled.
Draco watched in surprise, the little minx could take on the entire Wizarding World without anything to worry about but she didn’t understand that people just wanted protect her. He even agreed with Potter about protecting her but he’d never tell her that. He knew she could do it.
“Yeah, Ginny, you’re a big girl now.” He teased her.
She shot him a glare as she sat down on a stool, “I’m still mad about the book. It’s my favorite.” She pouted.
He chuckled, “I can fix it for you.”
“I can too.” She snorted.
“Then why are you so mad?”
“You tease me too much. You’re such a jerk.” She sighed.
He laughed at that.
“Can’t help it, Weasel. You’re so easy to tease.” He walked up to her and pulled on a lock of her flaming red hair.
She rolled her eyes.
“You went by Neville’s after work?” He asked.
She nodded, absent-minded.
“You saw Neville and Blaise together, didn’t you?”
Her lovely face flushed completely and she ducked her head to hide it; that made him laugh even more.
“You can’t tell anyone! Especially Neville, he blackmailed me into not telling anyone! But I didn’t. You know and you told me!” She told him, worriedly.
“Why are you so worried?” He asked her; intrigued that she was so anxious. “It’s not because they were together? Were you freaked out?”
“NO!” She immediately said.
“Then what?” He watched her.
“I can’t tell anyone because they’ll know…” She shut her eyes. She looked embarrassed.
“Know what?” Now he was deathly curious. He had to know now.
“Er – nothing,” she muttered quickly.
“Tell me, Ginny.” He leaned down and whispered in her ear. She shivered. He did that with girls when he wanted to know something and it always worked. This time was no difference.
“You can’t tell anyone. It was not supposed to happen.” She sighed and ran a hand through her locks. “Blimey, this is embarrassing.” She chuckled lightly.
“Just tell me,” he said. She nodded.
“Well, during fourth year after Gryffindor had beat Ravenclaw in the Quidditch match and…
Ginny leaned against Luna as they sat in front of the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room. It was empty except for the two of them. It was really late and she’d just broken up with Michael Corner because he was so upset that she had caught the snitch beating his house team. He’d gone off to comfort Cho Chang after. She didn’t really care. It’s not like she was in love with him or anything. See now Harry, oh Harry! She was dying to get with him but Hermione was right. She needed to see other people, get over him. And that’s what she was doing. She stretched and grabbed the bottle of Firewhiskey from Luna’s hands. She’d taken a step when she heard shuffling coming from the stairs.
“Ginny, Luna? What are you still doing awake?” Neville asked as he came into view. He snorted when he saw the bottle of Firewhiskey in Ginny’s hand.
“Celebrating, Ginny beat Ravenclaw and dumped Michael.” Luna smiled sweetly at him.
“Aren’t you upset, Luna? Ravenclaw is your house, remember.” He told her.
“It was a good match. I can’t be upset about it.”
Ginny chuckled at that, “It’s okay. The ones that are upset are comforting each other right now.” She smiled deviously as she took another sip.
“Let me take that.” Neville grabbed the bottle and Ginny frowned.
He sighed then sat down on the other side of Ginny. She smiled and grabbed the bottle from him after he took a sip. The three sat in front of the fire, chatting and drinking when they heard another set of noises at the stairs. The three ducked behind the couch and looked over to see Colin Creevey, holding his camera and looking around suspiciously. Ginny snorted as she saw his camera. He never went anywhere without the bloody thing.
“What were you looking for? A monster?” She asked softly and he jumped.
“Whose there?” His voice shook.
“Boo!” She jumped up from behind the couch and if Neville hadn’t acted so quickly, muttering a silencing spell, the entire Gryffindor Tower would have come running from the shriek he release when she surprised him.
“Sweet Merlin, Colin,” She groaned as she covered her ears.
“Sorry, sorry,” he apologized quickly, “you just scared the bejeezus outta me!”
“You made it hard not to.” She explained as Luna and Neville stuck their heads out from behind the couch.
“Oh, hullo, Colin.” Luna waved at him, “come sit with us.”
“Luna, what are you doing in the Gryffindor common room after midnight?” He asked, shocked that the blonde was sitting there happily in front of him.
“Oh, me? I got lost on my way to the common room and suddenly I was here. Imagine that! Maybe a Frakentogour, you know those are like little tiny idea creatures that go into your brain and tell you where to go, told me to come here! My dad is always telling me that they tell him where to go! Well anyway, Ginny was just coming in so I came in with her.” Luna explained.
“Just coming in?” Neville asked and both him and Colin looked at her suspiciously.
“I just went to the kitchen. I was hungry. Is that a bloody crime? And no, I was not meeting anyone. I broke up with Michael, remember?”
The three watched her suspiciously; well, Luna was just looking at her. Her expression dreamy like always.
“I have an idea,” Luna finally says.
“An idea…? Like what kind of idea?” Colin asks as he sits down in front of the three, facing them.
“Let’s play a game.” She said as she twirls a lock of her pale blonde hair around her finger.
“Like Wizarding Chess?” Neville asked.
“No, not exactly,” Luna smiled.
“How about a drinking game?” Ginny asked. “I got a spell for this Firewhiskey bottle. It keeps refilling every time it empties out.”
“I like it!” Colin instantly agrees with her. She side-glanced at him and saw him blushing. She really hoped that he didn’t have any feelings for her. Her heart belonged to someone else and he was a good buddy.
“Okay, a drinking game. Are we going to make it up?” Neville asked.
“How about this, everyone gets a shot glass and fills it with Firewhiskey. Someone says something about their life and if it’s not good enough, they have to drink. If it is, everyone says ‘Amen’ and then, we all drink. Sounds good?” Luna explained.
“What does Amen mean?” Neville asked.
“A man, Neville. Do you really not know what that means? And you call yourself a man!” Ginny teased.
“No a man, Ginny, AMEN!” Colin laughs.
“Amen is like I agree or ‘so be it’. I read that in a book on religions. It’s a muggle thing.” Luna explained.
“OH!” Ginny and Neville said at the same time.
“Okay, let’s do this.” Ginny said as she poured them each a shot. “You start Neville.”
“Sure, let’s see. Let’s count the shots too! So this would be shot one: Here’s to living with my gran who doesn’t think I can do anything.”
The three looked at each other and shook their heads. “DRINK!” They said in unison.
Neville groaned and took the shot.
“Luna,” Colin said.
“Shot two: er – here’s to not having Wrackspurts in your brain…?”
“DRINK!” Neville, Ginny and Colin screamed.
Luna took the shot happily.
The game went on and on until the four were indeed smashed.
Ginny was now lying on Colin’s lap as Luna was leaning against the chair that Neville was lying on. Both Neville and Luna had their eyes closed; passed out possibly. Ginny sighed as Colin began running his fingers through her hair. She liked the way it felt, too much actually.
“Ginny,” Colin whispered from above her. She looked up into his eyes and smiled; she was very drunk. He smiled back. She sat up and faced him.
“I like your hair, Colin.” She said as she ruffled his hair. “it’s really soft.”
He blushed.
With that, for some odd reason that she didn’t understand, she leaned forward and gently brushed her lips against his. He immediately stiffened but she didn’t care. She was single, Harry didn’t notice her besides being Ron’s little sister and Colin was nice.
But she knew it was the alcohol that was making her like this.
She continued to brush her lips against his and Colin jumped into action. He pulled her onto his lap, where she straddled him. He deepened the kiss, slipping his tongue into her mouth. He was a surprisingly good kisser, but she knew that was the alcohol talking. He wasn’t that great.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and rubbed her body against his. He moaned softly and she liked that he made that noise. Michael hadn’t really been a good kisser. He was really sloppy, actually. She was glad she didn’t have to kiss him anymore. She then wondered if Harry was a good kisser. He had to be. He had the perfect lips.
Suddenly a bulb flashed and they instantly jumped apart to see both Luna and Neville watching them; Colin’s camera in Neville’s hands.
“Gotcha.” Neville smiled deviously.
“Bollocks,” Ginny groaned.
