Chapter Fifteen ~ Welcome To My Team
Draco pulled Ginny outside where they immediately side-apparated, his arm gently holding hers, to an alley besides the employee entrance to the Ministry of Magic. Ginny fidgeted the entire way inside; she couldn’t help herself. She was unbelievably nervous. She was deathly afraid that she would bugger this opportunity up and she couldn’t afford for that to happen.
“Would you just relax,” Draco hissed.
“I can’t help it. I’m nervous.” She whispered as they walked through the halls towards the Auror Headquarters. As they came upon the door, Draco stopped and turned her so they were facing each other. Ginny was biting her lip nervously. He chuckled lightly as he softly ran his index finger against her bottom lip. Ginny instantly stopped biting it. She looked up at him; brown eyes met silvery – gray. Then he smiled, smiled, not smirked.
And it took her breath away.
“Good luck, Red.” He whispered as he ruffled her hair affectionately, opened the door with his left hand and pushed her in with the left. She stumbled a little and when she looked back to tell him something, Draco was gone.
Frowning, she looked both ways and noticed that the corridors were empty. He must have turned into another room, she told herself. Inhaling deeply, she closed her eyes quickly, forcing herself to relax. With that, she took a step into the Auror Headquarters and into her new life.

“When I call your name, please step forward and step behind your group leader. You will compete among each other in order to see whose skill surpasses the others yet you are still a team. If you work hard; you will succeed. If you half-arse everything, well, then you are better off just leaving now because this is serious. WE are serious here and there are people here who are serious as well. Those are the ones we want. We will be separating you into three groups. The leaders are Harry Potter, yes, yes, the Harry Potter, now shut it; John Dawlish and Ron Weasley. Now I will be calling names.” Gawain Robards, Head of Aurors, said as he stood in front of the small crowd of trainees.
Ginny groaned when she saw both her ex-boyfriend and her brother as the group leaders. She prayed to Merlin, that she wouldn’t end up in either of their groups. She straightened her robes and waited for Robards to begin calling names.
“Casey, Jasmine – Harry Potter.” The brunette girl smiled happily at Harry and Ginny couldn’t help but snort, causing a few of the other trainees to look over in her direction. When they noticed her, some of them looked between Harry and Ginny. They knew that the two had broken up; she wondered if they all were wondering if Robards was nutter enough to put Harry Potter with Ginny Weasley.
“Davidson, Erin – Ron Weasley.” A thin blonde girl nodded and made her way towards Ron.
“Devon, Emma – John Dawlish.” A tall black haired girl walked straight towards John Dawlish.
The list went on and on and finally they called her name.
“Weasley, Ginevra – John Dawlish.” Ginny almost cried with happiness. Dawlish was exactly where she wanted to be. No Harry Potter or Ron Weasley to damper her spirit. Merlin was looking down on her.
After her, Robards called a few other names and then the list ended and the group divided.
By the time the list was finished twenty-four people were separated into three groups. Ginny had three females in her group: Emma Devon, Cameron Orsdale and herself; and five males: Andrew Kirk, Iden Knox, Warrick Madison, Wyatt Prescott and Louis Stone.
Dawlish came forward; he nodded once and then began walking towards the doors. Devon, Orsdale, Kirk, Knox, Madison, Prescott and Stone just watched him as he walked towards the door. Ginny followed him; she stopped when she realized that none of them were following.
“Let’s go,” Ginny told them.
They just watched her; shocked at her audacity to go without being told.
“But he hasn’t said anything,” Devon told her.
Orsdale brushed a lock of her long blonde hair behind her ear and nodded in agreement with Devon.
“So you’re just going to stand here and wait for him to tell us what to do?” Ginny asked.
“I believe in following orders.” Madison answered.
“Well, I’ll just go follow him. You just wait here until he says something.” She bit her lip and turned, following Dawlish. She snorted when she realized that none of the others followed her. She followed Dawlish out of the room and down the corridors to a room. As she entered she realized that it was empty; only Dawlish, where he sat on top of a desk in the corner of the room. There wasn’t any furniture besides the desk.
Dawlish watched as Ginny entered the room and sat in the center, crossing her legs Indian style.
Ginny looked at him suspiciously as he watched her. Dawlish smirked and nodded his head in approval.
“Out of all the years I’ve been doing this, not once has someone just followed me without me having to tell them to; well, one bloke but he’s an exception. I like it. Welcome to my team, Ginevra Weasley.” He said with a mischievous smile.
“Ginny Weasley,” She smiled back.
“I think we’re going to get along well, Ginny.” He told her.
~.~.~
That evening, Ginny sat on the couch in her apartment and smiled happily. Dawlish was right; they were going to get along well. She couldn’t wait. She’d come straight home from her first day and boy was it amazing. It was a great first day. She stretched then laid down back on the couch. She closed her eyes and suddenly she heard the flames from the fireplace enlarge and she opened her eyes to see someone standing in her living room.
Damn Draco, because of him I didn’t lock the fireplace again; she complained.
“How did your first day go?” Draco asked.
“Speak of the sodding Devil.” Ginny muttered as she stood and made her way to her bedroom.
“What was that?” Draco asked.
“Er – nothing, now bugger off. I’m tired.” She walked into her bedroom and went for the closest; she could hear Draco entering her bedroom.
“Not yet, I’m just curious. Who did you have?” He asked as he lay on her bed.
She didn’t answer at first because all she could see and think was that Draco was on her bed; and how bloody good he looked lying there. She bit her lip and shook herself inwardly; trying to forget the image that would forever be imprinted in her brain.
“I have John Dawlish.” Ginny said as she turned her back and grabbed her clothes for a quick shower.
“I figured you would, considering both the Weasel and Scar-head were the others.” He ran his fingers through his hair and yawned.
“Wait – you knew that they were the other leaders?” She looked back from the bathroom door.
“Of course I knew. Robards wanted to ask me but Kingsley told him no. I have other obligations and so I wouldn’t be able to always be there.” Draco explained as he laid back on the bed, closing his eyes.
“Don’t even think about going to sleep there, buddy.” Ginny growled as she shut the door and took a shower.
When Ginny came out of the shower, Draco was asleep on her bed. She stood next to him and watched him for a moment, not knowing what to do. His white blonde hair was in his face and without even thinking about it, she gently brushed it aside. And the second her fingertips touched his skin, her skin tingled as if she’d been shocked. She jumped back and when she looked at him again, his silvery – gray eyes were watching her.
“Draco!” She cried out.
“Hey, Ginbug,” He smirked as if he knew she’d been standing there for a bit.
“You fell asleep. I specifically told you not to fall asleep.” She reprimanded him.
“I couldn’t help it. Your bed is so comfy.” He explained.
“I know it’s my bed.” She crossed her arms and glared at him, “Now get out of it.”
“But, Red,” he complained.
“No buts, out,” She told him.
He smirked and in the blink of an eye, he had grabbed her arm and pulled her onto the bed beside him.
“Sweet Merlin, Draco!” Ginny gasped as her back hit the bed.
He laughed and when she turned to him to give him a piece of her mind, he was gone once again.
