Worldwide, there seems to be around three hundred and eighty five thousand babies born a day. Thats a lot, right? It was terrifying. How every minute of the day, the population grew, larger and larger. It was impossible to deny the fact that soon, the earth was going to die. It was going to die, all because of the human species, and how they took everything for granted. It was also impossible to deny that everyone didn't take life for granted at some point, even Zinoviya did, no matter what you may think.

She didn't stop to think about how lucky she was to even be standing, she could be dead. Buried six feet under, along with the other billions of people who once roam the earth. It was weird to think, that years ago, those that once lived were walking on the very concrete that she was now. Breathing the same air, that never seemed to run out. Well, not yet, at least. She wondered what it was like back then, and what those that were in the Red Room before her were doing now. If they had even lived, at that. How long was the Red Room even a thing? She didn't know the answer to that, but she wished she did.

She had odd thoughts, when she was alone at night. She couldn't seem to stop her mind from roaming, and creating the weirdest conspiracy's. That seemed to be the only fun she could have these days. In truth, the girl was sick. She was sick of living the life she was living, and no matter what happened, she didn't think she would ever grow to enjoy it.

She wanted to be free.

The sound of a key being jammed through the keyhole made its way to her eardrums, and she glanced at the direction of the door. She absentmindedly curled her toes as she attempted to be patient. She could hear the other girls stir awake as the hallway light shone through, and they could see the shadow of an all-too-familiar woman.

Madame B.

She began to release the girls from their handcuffs, and Zinoviya could all hear them all release a breath in relief.

The girl had already been awake, she couldn't sleep as she had to listen to the muffled sobs of a newcomer in the bed next to her. She didn't bother comforting her, why would she? She hadn't gotten comfort when she was here, only guidance from Alyona. That wasn't enough. But it was all she could get. Well, all anyone could get. She guessed she should be grateful, but she just wasn't. She couldn't find it in her to be, so she wasn't.

When Madame B freed her of her restraints, she rubbed away at the inflamed skin, gritting her teeth together as she exhaled heavily while swinging her legs over her bed, allowing her naked feet to meet with the floor. She looked at the little girl in front of her who was sobbing all night, and she could see her small, petite body was still shaking. Zinoviya sighed before reaching underneath her pillow, pulling out a hard piece of bread. She had managed to steal one during supper yesterday, and she had been planing to keep it all to herself.

Zinoviya felt pity for her. Well, at least, she thought it was pity. Who knows. She had never felt it before. There was no need. She brought the bread up to her mouth and placed it between her teeth, ripping out a chunk and quickly munching on it before bringing it down to her lap. She cautiously glanced around the room as she discreetly broke the bread in two pieces, handing the younger girl the bigger half. Her name was Eva.

The little girl took it with slight hesitation, and Zinoviya could still see the tear stains on her flushed cheeks. When she grabbed it, she flashed the Barnes girl a small grin, before the both of them bit into the loaf in sync, Zinoviya's lips tugged up ever so slightly that the younger girl almost missed it.

Just a bed over, Alyona watched the two with a blank expression, her lips clamped shut as she raised her thin eyebrow. She didn't know what to say, Zinoviya had only been back for about two years, though, they hadn't seen her spar. The day she came back, they had all been expected to see how far she had fallen behind, and yet, she hadn't been selected for any major challenges. Alyona had been keeping an eye on her during training, and she had taken note of how she had Improved with her blades.

She didn't like that.

While Zinoviya was off with HYDRA, Alyona had become top of the school, with having no one to match her level, she was practically untouchable. She was marble. Of course, she didn't hate Zinoviya, she just couldn't afford for her to get in her way. She would do whatever it takes to keep her title.

Including, betray her only friend.

It had been about ten minutes before Alyona's only friend, along with the other widows, were lined up in the training room, forming a half circle, just as they always had. It was weird for Zinoviya, to be back here. She often wondered how her father was doing, if he was still alive, if he had remembered her. She had no clue. Although, she wasn't sure she wanted to know.

Miss Volkova stood straight, her lips pulled together In a snarl as she stood with her hands clasped behind her back. She looked the exact same. Her short hair had framed her face, bumping at the ends and curling toward her chin. She was a tall woman, but those heals that she wore made her even taller.

"Ksenia, Давай вперед," Come forward , she instructed. The girl did as told, she held her chin up as she stepped forward. Her face held almost no expression, so Zinoviya couldn't tell what she was thinking. The girl was the average hight, for an eleven year old and her long, thin hair was pulled into a slick pony tail, just as the others. Her ears slightly stuck out, and she had freckles that lightly coated her cheeks.

Ksenia glanced around at the other widows, her eyes narrowing as she awaited for the announcement of who her opponent would be.

"Zinoviya, You're up," Miss Volkova had rarely ever spoken in English, and she had a thick Russian accent that fell from her tongue. At her words, Ksenia's eyes met with the Barnes girl, her eyes narrowing and her lips falling into a cocky grin. Zinoviya said nothing, though, it felt as though her heart skipped a beat. She should've known it was coming. She didn't break her gaze with Ksenia as she stepped forward, her mouth was clamped shut and she could feel her heart racing in anticipation.

Zinoviya could hear some of the girls snickering under their breath, they knew that she would lose. Zinoviya had been out for a long time, they just didn't know what she was doing.

Both girls glanced to Miss Volkova, watching as the woman slowly nodded. At that, Zinoviya leapt into action. Ksenia threw her leg forward, aiming for her ribs, only for Zinoviya to block her hit, shoving her foot down to the floor and gripping onto the taller girls shoulders. She brought her knee up to her chest, almost knocking the wind out of her. Yes, Zinoviya had the super solider serum pumping through her veins, but it wasn't about strength. It was about skill. . . technique. She was finally beginning to understand.

Zinoviya grunted as she took a fist to the face.

That caught her off guard.

She whipped her head back to Ksenia, the girl had her hands on her knees as she panted heavily, and Zinoviya was sure to move quick. Gripping the back of her neck and bringing her knee to her chin repeatedly. Ksenia could feel her jaw popping out of place, and she could feel as her blood began to coat Zinoviya's skin. A satisfying crack zipped through the air.

Zinoviya broke Ksenia's nose.

The said girl had gripped onto the back of her opponents leg, resulting in her falling on her back and smacking her head against the wood, she let out a cry of pain as Ksenia wrapped her fingers around her neck. Zinoviya gasped as she clawed at Ksenia's arms frantically.

It was embarrassing, to be honest. Zinoviya was the daughter of Bucky Barnes, one of the best assassins of all time. And here she was, being strangled by a girl who hadn't even gone on her first mission yet.

Zinoviya began to panic, reaching her hand up and pushing her fingers deep into Ksenia's eye sockets, hearing the girl let out a chilling cry and whither in pain made her sigh and gasp in relief as she had released her grip that she had from her throat. Ksenia stumbled to stand up, Zinoviya as well. She continued to whimper in pain and hold her hands out in front of her in an attempt to block anything coming her way.

Zinoviya blinked, before she took two steps back, her eyes narrowing in determination before she ran to Ksenia, wrapping her legs around her neck, snapping it with her thighs in the process, before they both fell to the floor.

All of the widows fell silent, their eyes wide as they looked at Ksenia's limp body.

Zinoviya felt pride well up in her chest. No matter how much she told herself that she didn't want people to fear her, how much she hated her dark actions, deep down, she loved it. She loved watching their face as she neared them.

Zinoviya slowly raised her gaze to Miss Volkova, and the woman's expression was highly unreadable, as always.

"Опять таки." Again.

What?

Zinoviya slowly unwrapped her legs from Ksenia's neck, her eyes absentmindedly falling to the girl's blood on her knee.

"Вы снова будете сражаться." You will fight again.

At that, she simply nodded, moving to stand on her feet and breathing heavily.

Miss Volkova's gaze swept through the remaining widows, all of them avoiding her gaze as they looked at the floor like it was the most interesting thing in the world.

"Eva," Zinvoiya's eyes snapped to the younger girl who she had given her bread to just a little over an hour ago, her eyebrows pulled together as she watched the girl audibly gasp in shock. Everyones eyes fell to the young girl, some even shifted away from her, urging her to move forward. Eva let out a snivel before slowly stepping forward.

"Девушки," Girls, Miss Volkova's eyes fell onto two young girls that had been looking at the floor in shock, they lifted their gaze up to her immediately understanding their mentors request and nodding their head in submission. They moved forward, and began to drag the fallen widow away from the scene.

Miss Volkova then turned to Zinoviya and Eva, meeting both of their eyes before giving a single nod, signaling for them to begin.

That day, Ksenia and Eva, died at the hands of Zinoviya Nadia.
