Chapter Nine
BOOM!! AAIII!!!!
"What the living hell?" Tomoe looked towards the sound and tightened his grip on me.
"It's him! He found us!" I got up and frantically looked for an exit. My eyes darted everywhere looking for an opening. We could hear the screams get louder and smelled smoke coming through the door.
"Brace yourself!" Tomoe grabbed me and tore through the paper door. We ran through the hall looking for a window to jump out of, but couldn't find any. As we ran, more and more people started running out of their rooms. While Tomoe was dragging me along, I decided to look behind us. There, I saw a man dressed in a black cloak, wearing a mask. He was engulfed in black flames with men in black suits following behind him.
I faced forward and ran faster, dragging Tomoe behind me. I lifted my nose to see if I could find a scent of fresh air, but I choked on the smoke instead. We blindly followed the crowd looking for an exit. I cast a glance behind us, only to see a wall of fire and no one in the middle. Shit, where is he? I turned around and realized that Tomoe is no longer holding my hand.
"Tomoe? Tomoe, where are you!" I shouted through the screams of terrified demons and yokai, looking for Tomoe. I shoved through everyone and looked for his long white hair or his fluffy tail. I continued shouting, looking for Tomoe.
"Tomoe! Tomo--AAII--mmph!" A hand grabbed me from behind and muffled my scream with their hand. I breathed in the scent and found the comfort of Tomoe's fresh scent. His hand was gentle but firm. It was definitely his hand. I turned my head to see his face and he looked back down at me.
"Sorry, I lost you there," Tomoe said as he pulled me in close. He picked me up like a child and forced his way through the crowd. I looked back at his face and I saw worry in his eyes. I tightened my grip on his clothes and he tightens his hold on me. I looked ahead of us and realize that we made it to the front.
FLOOSH!! Tomoe jumped back as black flames burst in front of us. I tugged on Tomoe's yukata as a signal and he dropped me. I jumped behind Tomoe and grabbed him. I opened my wings and flew up. The black flames followed. After flying for a couple minutes, we couldn't lose the black flames. Flustered, Tomoe summoned a ball of Foxfire and tosses it at the black flames. The flames just consumed the Foxfire.
"Dammit!" Tomoe muttered curses under his breath. I tried desperately to fly faster, but I couldn't since I was carrying Tomoe. I looked behind us to see the wave of black flames gaining on us slowly.
"Hurry up God dammit!" I glared down at Tomoe and threw him in front of me. He quickly summoned a fire chariot and flew up to meet me. Serves you right! I'm carrying a heavy ass yokai here!! I shot him another glare and flew ahead.
I'm not heavy!
Says the demon who doesn't do anything but drink all day.
Hey, I got out and some random demons sometimes!
Sometimes! I shake my head. "Are you gonna keep up with me? We still have a huge wall of black fire behind us!"
Tomoe snorted. "Of course I can keep up! I'm on a chariot and you're flying with your own wings. You'll get tired before me!" I smiled.
"We'll see whose mana last longer." With that, I shot ahead into the woods. I turned around and looked for Tomoe. He rode his chariot right behind me and chased me through the woods. As I was looking for Tomoe, I couldn't see the black flames that were chasing us. I halted in the air and looked frantically for the flames. Tomoe caught on to what I was doing and was also looking for the flames. Suddenly, the hairs on the back of my neck rose. I felt someone's breath on my ears and I froze. I caught the whiff of a familiar disgusting scent and held my breath
"Hello, Deary. I've been looking for you." He put one hand on my left shoulder and slid his right hand down my waist. I finally remembered how to breathe and elbowed him in the gut. He let go and I dived out of sight. After a moment of zooming through the woods, I remembered that I left Tomoe behind. Damn! I forgot about him. I angled my wings to turn around and almost flew into Tomoe's flaming chariot. I pulled back at the last second. I quickly regained my center of gravity and looked at Tomoe.
"Jeezes! You scared me! Next time tell you're following me!" I exclaimed. Tomoe gave no reaction. I looked up at him. His eyes were blank and showed no emotion. "um...hello? Anyone home?" I waved my hand in front of his face to see if I could get his attention back to reality. Tomoe grabbed my wrist and squeezed it hard. I winced as he continued to squeeze harder. I tucked my wings in and tried to pry his hands off my wrist. While struggling with Tomoe's grip, I noticed a tear fall down his cheek. I stopped and looked up at him. His eyes were still blank, but tears fell down like a waterfall. Then, I heard a tiny voice in the back of my head. Tomoe's voice. All I heard was I'm sorry. A moment after, I screamed.
Sorry for the really long update (not like anyone reads this trash) but yeah. Sorry about that.
