Chapter 1

Black. All Virgil could see was black. All around him, the darkness was overwhelming. It engulfed him, covered him, hid him.
Why was it so dark?
Oh, right, his eyes were closed.
Cursing his stupidity, Virgil cracked his eyes open, and surveyed his surroundings.
It was still dark, but not as dark. He looked around, and saw that he was in a mundane room, poorly lit by a single lamp on the ground. The walls were dark and stained, and the floor also. The door seemed to be made of thick wood, but no handle.
Virgil went to move his arms, but found he was restricted.
His hands were tied behind his back with coarse rope, he was sitting in a simple wooden chair, and his feet were tied to the front two legs of the chair.
"What the hell..?" Virgil muttered, "Where am I?"
It was only then that Virgil noticed the pain. His head was throbbing, and when Virgil tilted his head, he swore he could feel dried blood cracking.
Creeaak.
Virgil whipped his head up (painfully, that is) to see the door slowly opening, and a tall figure stepping into the room.
"My my, we seem to have gotten ourselves into a bit of a stick, haven't we?"
Virgil knew that voice. Deep, drawn out, cold, with a strong British accent. He knew the voice, but couldn't quite figure out who's it was.
"Don't you remember me, Virgil?" The voice said, "Why, I must say I'm rather hurt, I thought our last meeting would leave a lasting imprint on you."
Virgil racked his brains as the figure paced around the room, thinking, who was it?
"Maybe my face would help you recognise me, wouldn't it?"
The figure grabbed the two chair arms and kneeled down to Virgil's level, and lifted his head up.
Virgil had to bite his lip to stop himself from gasping, suddenly everything was coming back to him, loud and clear.
Devon's eyes were the brightest green, and the left side of his face had a large pink scar running straight down the middle. His hair was the darkest brown, combed back and clean.
He had a sharp jawline, with pale and smooth skin, and behind the crazy grin of his, his teeth were white and perfect. He was gorgeous, but the insanity in his eyes repulsed Virgil.
"What do you want, Devon?" Virgil hissed, "Why are you here?"
Devon stood up, "Tut tut, being a tad bit rude, aren't we?"
Virgil scowled, "What do you want?"
"I thought we made that quite clear last time we saw each other." Devon smirked, "I want you, Virgil, and now I've got you."
Virgil's heart sped up, his breathing quickened, and he swallowed nervously.
"H-how did you find me? I thought you had gone!"
Devon rolled his green eyes, "Oh, silly Virgil, I was never gone. I've always been around, you just haven't seen me." Virgil clenched his fists in fear.
"Everyday for the last four years I've been watching you. I know where you work, where you live, where you spend your spare time, and I know everything about Patton, Logan, Thomas, and of course, Roman."
Virgil swallowed back down the bile that rose up in his throat.
"If you've known where I lived ever since then, then how come you only took me now?"
Devon closed his eyes, "My dear Virgil, one does not simply act out again so soon after already acting, it would be remarkably foolish." He opened his eyes, glancing sideways at Virgil. "Anyway, I've got your entire routine in my mind. I know where you are every minute of the day, I know where your friends are, and I know where Roman is."
Virgil bit his lip.
"Right now he is at the gym, like every other Saturday morning. He will stay there for another hour at the least, then he is going to meet up with Patton for a coffee."
How does he know this?
"Patton is currently at the pet shop, planning on buying a dog, as he said to Thomas the day before yesterday. Patton parted with Logan last night, when Logan left for his night shift at the supermarket, where he works on weekends. Logan also planned on meeting up with Roman and Patton for coffee, but his plans were abruptly changed when he was summoned by Thomas, who had just returned from a date with Leo, his ex, in tears, and required Logan's poor comforting skills. They are currently at Logan and Patton's house, gorging themselves on pizza and chocolate milk. None of your friends know or care where you are, so I've got you all to myself."
As much as Virgil wanted to deny it, Devon's words chilled him to the core, and he silently accepted the fact that it was true: no one knew or cared where he was.
Incapable of speaking, Virgil simply looked down at his feet, struggling to hold back tears.
"Oh, Virgil. Poor, poor Virgil. Let me make you feel better..."
Devon grabbed Virgil's chin forcefully, then kissed him on the lips with surprising gentleness, smirking all the while.
"Do you like that, Virgie?" Devon whispered after pulling away, "Do you like that?"
Virgil shook his head, hot tears spilling from his eyes, trembling.
"Well, too bad, it's not about what you like."
Devon kissed Virgil again, this time with more force. He used one hand to hold Virgil's head in place, and the other he ran through Virgil's hair.
Virgil whimpered, trying to yank his head away from Devon's hand, but Devon gripped his neck, scratching it in the process.
Devon pulled away, and stared into Virgil's terrified eyes.
He pulled out a knife from inside his pocket, and reached around the chair, to Virgil's hands. He cut the ropes loose, and took a step back.
"Now, Virgil, we're going to have some fun..."
