when we got home, I was immediately placed in a separate room, in the hopes I wouldn't hear what was going to happen. the first thing to happen was a phone call. "hello!?" Yukio said frantically into the phone.

"hello? Yukio? do you know what time it is?" Mephisto said. "Mephisto, we don't know what to do. we found the pureblood with her insides ripped out and eaten. someone left a message. it said, Keyta we found you. you don't understand, the message was written in her soul" Yukio said frantic. has he never seen this before?

does that mean it doesn't happen often? like there is something much more powerful than what we bargained for? I was afraid. they are after me. who ever they are, they want me, dead or alive but for what?

"oh! Yukio, did the pureblood ever say anything out off the ordinary vampire stuff?" Mephisto asked wiry. "I-I don't know" he said. he was with Okami at the time, hoping she wouldn't die. "Pass me to my brother" Mephisto sighed.  

there was a silence as Yukio passed the phone to Amaimon. "hey" Amaimon responded to his brother. "Amaimon, did the pureblood say anything out if the ordinary?" Mephisto asked casually. "yeah, she said something along the lines of if you would've transformed faster then I wouldn't have lost my job" he said.

there was a small silence, probably Mephisto connecting the dots we couldn't even find. "did the pureblood die from a demon attack?" Mephisto asked. "yeah, it was a ripper, high level. most likely human anatomy" Amaimon said normally. SO IT WAS A DEMON WHO KILLED AMETHYST? "enlighten me" Mephisto asked.

"intestines eaten. rotting around the edges. she was only dead for 2 hours at the most, so decomposition was impossible to have happened so fast. lunges and other limbs untouched, that counts out animals" he said like he had it all figured out. 

"sounds like an unhappy employer. but what about the soul, figured that out yet?" Mephisto asked playfully. is he really having fun right now? "no, not yet. never seen it before" Amaimon said and even though I couldn't see him, I knew that behind the mask, he was confused.

"I have seen it before. mostly angels do that but guardian angels can't. that is the only type of angel that is allowed on earth without having to fall first. in conclusion..." and the line went silent, Mephisto waiting for my mate to connect the dots.  

"fallen. we are dealing with a fallen angel. are you fucking kidding me?" Amaimon said angrily into the phone. "I'm sorry little brother. I know how much you don't like them but for some reason a demon and angel are working together and they want your mate. I can't send an exorcist team because then you can't be there to protect her. lets not forget that the Vatican wouldn't kill the angel" Mephisto said.

a demon and an angel? why would they want me!? "we'll do it. we'll fight" I heard Kasai say. I opened the door, I can't let them do this. "LIKE HELL YOU ARE!" I said stomping down the hall. "I don't want you guys dying. this isn't like the demons we learn about in cram! you heard Amaimon. high level demon and a fallen angel. this isn't just something we can do at the level we are at now!" I said.

I refuse to lose anyone else. "we aren't human okay. you've done so much, too much. given up your freedom for us once, we won't get close to losing you ever again. we may not be high ranking exorcist but there is much more we are better at. we can do things humans can't and if our exorcist skills aren't enough then we have instinct and power unlike the humans" Okami said stepping forward.   

"why? why would you put yourselves in the position to die?" I asked feeling my eyes water. "because we are family. we love you Korosu. and just like how you love us enough to give up everything, we are too" Kasai said letting go of Rin's hand to give me a hug. and slowly, everyone else did too.

"its 3 in the morning. I think we should go to sleep" Kasai laughed lightening  the mood like only she can do. so we all said goodnight and I noticed that Amaimon was no longer in the room. I slowly made my way to my room.

I woke up to the sun in my face and I wasn't having any of that so I rolled over. I heard Amaimon grumble at the disturbance and I chuckled at his whine. "we have to get up" I said tired. "do we have to?" Amaimon grumbled.

"we can sleep in" he whispered a little hope in his voice. "later. we can sleep later now get up" I said laughing as he hugged me closer. "come on" I said kissing his shoulder. I got to the edge of the bed and when I tried to stand, I almost immediately fell.

Amaimon immediately sat up and looked over at me in alarm. "what happened?" he asked. "I can't walk" I said finally realizing for the first time that I was naked. why was I naked?

I looked over at Amaimon and the covers had pooled around his lap but I could tell that he wasn't wearing anything. "did we?" I said blushing and gesturing between us and he only grinned. suddenly I remembered what happened last night and blushed crimson.  

"I think I'm gonna take a shower" I said looking around for something to cover myself with. Amaimon slid out of bed and I could hear his footsteps growing closer but I refused to look. "nothing you haven't already seen" he chuckled.

he threw me over his shoulder and I laughed. "Amaimon, put me down. where are we going?" I asked noticing the scratches from last night. "to take a shower. you promised I could shower with you when I understood anatomy, I definitely understand your anatomy" he said walking into the bathroom.

me and Amaimon were able to get dressed and put our used clothes away. "come on. another round wouldn't hurt " he said wrapping his arms around my waist from behind. "no we can't, everyone is awake and we cannot get out of the rounds of searching for the demon and fallen angel" I said laughing as his kisses tickled my skin.

"come on. you're always seducing me. tempting me" he said pressing himself against me. "h-how have I done that?" I asked pressing back onto him. "everything about you is beautiful and tempting. from your short hair that I would love to pull, to the beautiful hips that I love to have against me" he said, his hands traveling o my waist, pushing me impossibly closer.  

before I can say anything there was a knock on the door. Amaimon sighed and walked to the door. he threw it open and glared at them as they looked away like they didn't do anything. "hey guys, what's up?" I said tying my hair.

"Korosu, what is that?!" Rin gasped staring at my shoulder. I looked at it and found it looked like it did everyday. "Rin what do you mean?" I asked confused. "what do you mean!? I'm not the only one who sees that, am I?" Rin asked looking around.

"Rin is right! what is that!" Yukio said looking at me surprised. "whats- oh my! you- does that mean you- its never been that- " Grimora said tripping over words. "I don't get what the fuss is about, I don't see anything" Okami said. I looked at a smirking Amaimon and wondered what he did.

"u-um we have to make the rounds, we will discuss this later" Yukio said pushing up his glasses and walking towards the elevators. "what is going on" I asked Amaimon as everyone walked away. "the marks connected overnight after our mating. they connected and traveled down your arm, making a tapestry of forest on your skin, only seen by demons. marking you as mine for all demons to see" Amaimon said taking hold of my hand.

It had been weeks. we have been looking for the unlikely duo for weeks. we do rounds everyday. after the search through the shadows failed, we knew it had been warded against demons. so we had to go by foot and try to find them by looking in abandoned buildings and in forests.

I wish I could say that all the walking was the most of my problems but its not. every morning I throw up everything I ate the day prier and I've developed weird cravings. I keep eating things with high amounts of sugar. like really unhealthy kind of high.  

I don't know what it could possibly be. wait. weird cravings and morning sickness? but that could mean I'm. I can't be- I'm only- we only. "you okay Korosu?" Yukio said snapping me out of my thoughts. "I'm not sure. can you call Mephisto for me, I really need to talk to him" I said a little impatient.

"yeah sure" he said giving me his phone. I stood there while the phone rang and I released the breath I didn't know I was holding when I heard him. "hello?" I heard Mephy say on the other line. "hey its me. I- I need some help. I need to talk to you right away" I said sounding a little panicked.

"okay, you seemed very worried so I'll give you a leg up. Just walk through the door" Mephisto said as a puff of smoke appeared out of thin air. the smoke cleared and there was a door in front of me. this door wasn't here a second ago.

"its okay. Just walk through it" Mephy said as I hesitantly touched the knob. I turned the knob and when I opened the door I found myself in Mephisto's office. I stuck my head in and then went back out and looked behind the door to find the forest.

"how did you-" I couldn't find the words to say for how he was doing it. "I'm not the demon king of time and space for nothing" he chuckled ending the call and ushering me in without looking up. "Korosu, I'm a busy man. you said it was important so I will take the time to listen. please sit" he said filling out paperwork.

"I-I'm a little- well majorly worried. I wasn't sure if I could use human methods to find out but I think..... I think I could be pregnant" I sighed worried. "well Korosu- oh my! that is a big mate mark. I've never seen one so big" he said finally looking up from his papers.

"yeah-" but before I could say anything else he interrupted. "wait, did you say pregnant! I'm gonna kill my brother for ruining my school's reputation. didn't I tell you to use protection?" he said angry. "it was the heat of the moment. please don't tell him. I'm not actually sure yet" I pleaded.

"oh! my dear Korosu, you're not pregnant. why would you think you are?" Mephisto laughed. "what do you mean? how are you sure?" I said worried. I wasn't ready to be a mom and I don't want it to end up as a surprise 9 months later because he said I wasn't. "the probability of an offspring between an angel and a demon are zero percent" he said his fingers mimicking a zero.

"do you mean I'll never get pregnant?" I said my worry dropping but was replaced with something much deeper. I'll never be a mom. I'll never give my mate a child. "now that's not what I said. the likelihood of an angel and demon is zero but the likelihood of a demon and human is 1 in 5. you're a Keyta, part human and part angel. that doesn't mean you'll never be pregnant it just makes it extremely hard to conceive a child. after the first child your body will adapt to take in demon DNA but until then the chances of conceiving are low" he said explaining everything.

"what are the chances?" I asked. "about, and I'm estimating here, 1 in 1,000. you guys would have to go at it for weeks for a child. now why in Assiah did you think you were pregnant?" Mephisto asked chuckling at the end.

"well I've been having morning sickness and I've been having really strange cravings" I said a little embarrassed that I jumped to conclusions. "strange how?" he asked suddenly intrigued. "its got high amounts of sugar. an excessive amount. my siblings can't even take a bite out of what I eat without complaining how much it has" I said laughing at the memory. 

"oh! its not that your pregnant. its that the mark has given your body a demon presence inside. your angel side is punishing you by depleting your energy, thinking your possessed, and trying to drive the presence out. but you are very fortunate, the demon presence is noticing the depleting energy and recovering it by giving you cravings for high sugar. demon instinct in Assiah is to have lot of energy because low energy will send you back to Gehenna. the lack of energy makes it worry its going to be sent back. the good part about it is that the cravings are keeping you alive. its been a few weeks so both sides will learn to co-exist in a few days. don't fret, you're fine. how is the search going?" he asked going back to his paperwork.

"its going bad. we having found anything. no clues since that day. I better go back to help or they will think I'm slacking, sorry for the false alarm" I said chuckling trying to lighten the mood. "okay, the door is set to send you back to their location. it was good talking to you. bye sis" he said as I opened the door. sister huh? I guess he's right since I am his brother's mate.

"Mephy, thanks for everything. how do you know all of this stuff?" I asked turning the knob. "I've been alive for a long time" he said as I shut the door. "Korosu, where have you been?" Amaimon said worried. he pulled me into his arms and squeezed me.

"I was with Mephisto" I said hugging him back, confused why he was so worried. "I could tell by the door. I was so worried. don't disappear like that ever again" he said breathing in my smell. "I was only gone for ten minutes at the most" I said stroking his back.

"I didn't know when you would be back. I thought... I thought they got you. I was so scared. they are after you and when you disappeared I didn't know what to think. I thought I lost you" he said hugging me close. I forgot about them. I had forgot that they were after me.

and I had disappeared. I didn't tell anyone where I was going. he thought..... he thought I was gone. he thought they took me. I hugged him back at the force he hugged me. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't thinking. I'll tell you next time, I promise" I said.

"Korosu! there you are! we were looking everywhere for you!" I heard Yukio say as he came into view. "I was talking with Mephisto. I'm sorry" I said giving Yukio his phone back. "okay. don't wander off by yourself again okay?" he said staying a safe distance away from me.  he learned a few weeks back that he shouldn't touch me because Amaimon became very possessive after I was marked.

"I promise I won't" I said pulling away from Amaimon. I fluffed his hair a bit and gave him a kiss on the head. he fixed his hair and playfully glared at me. we didn't have our moment for too long because it was interrupted by rustling and the disturbance lead the birds to fly out of the trees.  

suddenly the trees moved and made way for what I assumed was a forest giant. it was a creature made of wood and branches and was big enough to frighten Okami. "A fungus grout. they are mostly docile but what is it doing so close to a city?" Yukio mumbled to himself.

Amaimon stepped forward and the fungus grout bowed to him and the leaves on him rustled. "thank you. you may return to Gehenna now" he said and the fungus grout nodded and simply walked away.

"what was that about?" Rin asked as confused as the rest of us. "well we continued to come up with nothing so I sent one of my infobrokers to retrieve information. we were coming up with nothing and now we have something. I know 4 likely locations that were mentioned. we can pick them out and attack accordingly" Amaimon said handing a small list to Yukio.

"we will talk about this when we got back to the hotel" Yukio said walking back the way we came.

it was early in the night. it was 9 when we got back to the hotel. "so where should we attack first?" Rin said as we all gathered around the map, still in our gear. "we will attack one by one until we get the right one" Yukio said pointing to the first one on the list and pointed to it on the map.

"we will start by attacking here tonight" Yukio said. "okay, so when do we leave?" I asked and everyone looked at me. "who said you were going? did you tell her she was going?" Amaimon said glaring at Yukio. "what do you mean I'm not going?!" I said surprised. of course I'm going!

"you're not going! they are after you, we need you safe and far away from them as possible. you are staying here end of story" Amaimon said moving to get in front of me. "I can take care of myself! I'm stronger than you give me credit for and I'm not just gonna let you guys go put yourselves in danger without me being there to protect you guys" I said getting angry.

"no you're not, you are staying here and that's final. I know you are strong and that's all the more reason to keep them away from you. I can't let them have any chance at grabbing you" Amaimon said arguing back. like I would let them catch me. I can handle myself.

"you can't control me Amaimon. you don't own me" I said getting in his face. "really? because that mark says I do" Amaimon said grabbing my arm. I ripped my arm form his gasp and slapped him with it.

"I'm not property. I'm not one of your subjects. you can't just tell me what to do and expect me to do everything you ask. I make my own decisions and if this mark is going to take that way from me then I don't want it. I'm your mate, not your slave. if you think that I'm gonna sit back and let you control me then you should've mated one of your subjects and left me alone" I hissed leaving and shutting the door behind me.

I ran to the room and locked the door and put my head against it. I felt the tears fall before I could stop them. he doesn't understand at all. all he wanted was to control me. was it all a lie? all of it? does he really love me or does he just want to use me like those people who want me? I was so stupid. I should've said no and now I have this mark on me with no way to get it off.

"Korosu, please open the door" I heard Amaimon whisper. "no" I said, my voice cracking. "Korosu I didn't mean it. its not how it sounded, I just don't want you going. I don't want to risk losing you" he said through the door. "if you were so scared to lose me than you should watch what you say or its gonna by your fault when I'm gone" I whispered. "Korosu please, I wasn't thinking, I didn't mean it like that. please understand" he said and I knew he was crying by the way his whipers cracked.

"go away Amaimon. I don't want to talk to you" I said trying to make my cries quiet. my whole being wanted to be with him at that moment. all I wanted was to open the door and hold him but I couldn't. I had to be strong or he'll always expect me to forgive him. I could still feel him on the other side of the door. "Amaimon please" I pleaded.

"just-Just promise me something..... promise you won't leave in the night. we postponed it. promise you'll be there when I wake up and that we will talk. I don't want to leave this where it is, I want to fix it" he said as I felt his presence leave, along with my heart. it felt empty without him."I promise" I whispered, knowing he heard me.

I wiped my tears and controlled myself. I sighed and turned around. I was seriously confused and scared when I found Amaimon standing there near the window. didn't he just leave? something about him was off. I started to make my way towards him. something is wrong. I don't trust him. cut your tongue she said. cut my tongue?

that's ridiculous why would I- do it or I will. do it now she hissed. I scratched at the side of my tongue and made sure a few drops made it out before I got it to stop. Amaimon noticed me at this point and he made his way towards me.

"I thought you were gonna leave me alone for the night" I asked confused. "I couldn't. I can't just leave you alone" he said. he said we would talk in the morning. why is he here? tell him your angry with him she whispered, just trust me. "but I'm still angry with you" I said thinking she was right. something about this is off.

"what can I do to make you forgive me" he said smiling. there is definitely something off about him. I quietly put my hand on his face and found it dry, but he had been crying a minute ago. you can give me a kiss my Keyta told him using my voice. he leaned down and captured his lips with mine but there was no spark, no rhythm, thing to prove it was him, so when he asked for entrance, I gave it to him. as his tongue reached into my mouth he quickly pulled away.

his tongue had smoke coming off of it. that's not him! get out quickly! don't turn your back to him my Keyta hissed. I backed away slowly and his eyes slowly turned red. "now darlin' we can do this the easy way, or the hard way" he said giving me a sinister smile. Amaimon, please save me.

Amaimon's POV:

{time skip till morning brought to you by my blood ran cold while writing the line that's not him}

I woke up to a ceiling instead of the canopy bed I got used to these past few weeks. last nights events flashed in my mind and I sighed at how it ended. but I smiled a bit at the thought that we were going to talk it out. smiling at the chance to fix it.

I got up and stretched. I did my best to quietly make my way out of the boy's hotel room because even though Rin and Yukio still don't like me very much, they would never let me sleep in the girl's hotel room since the incident with Shiemi.

I knocked on the door to me and Korosu's hotel room and waited. after knocking a few more times I found it strange how she didn't answer. is she still that mad? I hoped that the time away would help he cool down so we can talk it out. "Korosu, if you're still mad I understand but we can't talk through the door again" I said hoping to make her laugh or at least be less angry.

when I got no response is when I actually started to seriously worry. "Korosu?" I asked and knocked again. I put my ear to the door and found that I was met with complete silence. that wouldn't bother most people but I should be able to at least hear her breathing from here.

that means she's not breathing. that's when I started to panic on the inside. "Korosu!?" I yelled trying to get a response. but when I heard nothing I decided to kick down the door. at that point I woke everyone up. everyone ran outside of their hotel rooms and all I could do is look at them in worry.

"Amaimon! what's wrong!" Kasai asked worried, knowing that if I dropped my mask, it must have been serious. "she's not here! she's gone!" I said looking back into the room. "are you sure she isn't just with Mephisto?" Caster said yawning.

"she promised she would be here! her bed is untouched, she didn't sleep here last night" I said stressed. that's when I noticed the blood on the floor and window. why is the window broken? I walked into the room and looked at the blood on the floor. I dipped my finger into the blood on the floor and smelled it.

its sweet. that's the way her blood has always smelled. I licked the blood off my finger, loving the small sting it had on my tongue, the sting proving she did, in fact, descend from an angel. the blood on the rest of the room was splattered. I went to the broken window and lifted the drip of blood off of the shard.

I smelled it and it smelled old, like rotted blood, only proving that it was a ripper. but when I licked the blood I was confused when I tasted shape shifter in the mix. a hybrid? we weren't prepared for this.

I looked back at the pattern of splatter on the floor and realized it was gun splatter. I looked around and crouched and found what I was looking for. there was a shell casing on the floor. I couldn't pick it up but I saw it. I looked back at the window and thought about how much was missing. that's not from a gun shot, that was defiantly something bigger.

"what happened in here" Rin said looking at the guns on the other side of the room that I happened to miss. "I can guess what happened" I growled looking at my fingers that were covered in the hybrid's blood. "we aren't just dealing with a ripper, we are dealing with a shape shifter. a hybrid. that thing came in here and pretended to be me and she obviously figured out it wasn't me" I said pointing to the floor where her blood was.

"she shot him and when she tried to run. he knocked her out and through off her guns and escaped through the window" I said pointing to all the blood spatter. I walked to the window and looked down and didn't find any indents in the earth below. they flew away, the fallen was here. that also means no tracks. damn it!

its gonna be impossible to track them and I don't know what they want with her! but that doesn't matter because they already have her! "UUUGGHH!" I yelled the ground starting to shake at the force of my anger. the Earth always bending to my will and like my heart it was splitting apart and shaken up inside.

she's gone and I wasn't there to protect her like I told her I would. now she is in their hands and at the mercy at those bastards, and it's no one's fault but mine. but doesn't matter how powerful they are or what else they have up their sleeves, I'm the king of this Earth and no matter where they run or what they do, I'll find them. Because she needs me and no one on this Earth will stop me from saving my Queen.
