hey guys! just wanted to apologize for the constant hiatus. I'm actually writing this June 1st and the reason you are getting it now is because I decided I would spend the summer writing chapters for you guys. I hope I will be done with the book by the time I actually publish this chapter. I will be publishing a chapter every 2 weeks. or try in case I run out. I might even start book 2. also shout out to liv_xx9 and LunaDermody for being awesome and writing comments and for coming out of the shadows and making me laugh. some more of you have done that and will be mentioned in later chapters. also shoutout to HoloceneDream for being an awesome and supportive boyfriend. I love you my Nerd.

" how does me having angel blood have anything to do with it? " Okami asked confused. "Angel blood is a medium, its a buffer. God made it that way to prevent from Guardian angels from dying of transformation venom while on earth. your blood protected you" Caster said smiling. " shouldn't you report the pure blood mission a success?" Grimora said looking at me. " yeah,  I'll be right back " I said leaving the room.

I opened my phone and dialed Mephisto's number. " hello?" Mephisto said from the other side. " mission is complete" I said to him. "hmm that went by fast. well that sounds like the team works well together. I'll be there to pick up the body" he said and then hung up. I sighed, another mission done. at least this didn't have any casualties.

as I was walking back into the room I got a phone call. I checked the caller ID and was surprised to see Mephisto's name. he never calls me after missions. "Hey Mephisto. what's wrong? you never call me after missions" I asked worried. " Yukio. How did you kill the pureblood? did you burn her?" he asked calmly.

" no sir. Amaimon stabbed and squeezed her heart till it exploded" I said vaguely remembering her death because I was focused on Okami at the time." that would surely kill a pureblood" Mephisto mumbled. 

" yes, it would. why do you ask?" I said all eyes on me now. "because there isn't a body here Yukio" Mephisto said and I could feel the shocked look take over my face. "what do you mean her body isn't there?!" I asked worried. "do I have to repeat it Yukio? the body isn't here" Mephisto said in all seriousness.

"I was hoping it wouldn't come to this but you sound like you're gonna need help. now I've been given permission by the Vatican so that your team can attempt to contact a familiar. any of them could be a tamer" Mephisto said."I'm sending Caster paper with familiar circles on them for your attempt" Mephisto said.

" sir- " and then the line went dead. I guess there is no room for argument. Caster suddenly popped out of nowhere and scared us for a second. "Yukio why did I get sent paper with pentagrams? now sometimes the mage community sends it to make fun of me but this time was different, this is more specific" he said staring at the papers.

"Mephisto sent it. he wants us to attempt to see if any of you are tamers. get everyone in here" I said taking the papers from his hand.

Korosu's POV:

"you put your blood on it and say the first thing that comes to mind. don't feel hurt if nothing happens or comes to mind, not everyone can be a tamer. if you get a powerful familiar then the more unstable you are emotionally, the more likely they are to turn and attack you. if it comes to that just rip the paper" Yukio said giving us all paper.

I take a small knife from the kitchen and make a small cut on my finger. I then pass the knife to Kasai who was beside me and focused. bleed. come on bleed. I saw a drop come out of the cut and put it on my paper. I felt the wound heal up almost immediately. I stared at the paper and I got nothing.

" focus. close your eyes and look" Yukio said encouraging us. I closed my eyes and focused again. " I call upon the cracks and the shadows of that who look beyond the light. I summon that which will rise beyond the shadows and come into the light to protect and serve that of the Guardian spawn. I summon the hound which feeds upon the light, daidamn" I said. as I opened my eyes I saw a shadow leak out of the paper and materialize.

"wow, you summoned a shadow hound. I've never seen one this color before" Yukio said. I looked at Amaimon who lifted a brow. he never usually looks that concerned or lifts his mask. what's wrong?

I walked over to Amaimon and the demon hound, Daidamn, followed. " what's wrong Amaimon?" I asked concerned. "come with me. leave the dog" he said walking into a different room.

I turned to the dog and he gave me a shrug. I laughed at the strange gesture and told him " stay." He sat down and I walked towards the room Amaimon disappeared to. "now will you tell me what's bothering you?" I asked walking towards him. "That hound is very rare and high ranking. its strange that he would follow your orders" Amaimon said staring outside.  

I felt a little hurt. what did he mean? was I not strong enough or something? did I not deserve him as a familiar because he was strong? "oh" was all I could find to say. "that sounded bad. that's not what I meant. I just think its strange that shadow demons would attack you and you would end up with a shadow demon as a familiar" Amaimon said grabbing my hand.

" yeah I guess your right but he's under the control of my blood, plus if he ever tries anything I can send him back to Gehenna by ripping up the paper. In fact, here, if you ever feel he's putting me in danger then you can do it" I said giving him my paper.

"why are you even summoning familiars?" Amaimon asked. I paled. in all the excitement I forgot why we did it in the first place. "Amethyst.... they didn't find her body. we need to find her, she might actually be alive" I said concerned.

" she's not dead yet?" he growled. "I don't know how she managed to get away" I said worried too. " I'll find her. I'll make my demons search the earth. I'll find her " he said he promised. " and on the off chance that they can't find her?" I said hoping there was another way in case this didn't work.

" shadow hounds can travel threw the shadows. they can find anyone and anything. but that is our last resort. I don't trust him yet" he said glaring at the door. " what's the big deal with you and shadow demons?" I asked.

" Azazel, the demon king of spirits and air, he hates Keytas. he was one of the main kings to be in the war against your race. I don't think its safe to trust a high ranking shadow demon" he said. I guess he's right. but I want to thrust this shadow hound, something tells me he's going to do great things.

" okay well start the search. Its getting late we should sleep anyway. the faster we find her the better" I said taking his hand. I walked out of the room and the hound was waiting right where I left him.

I look up to see a strange thing sticking out of Kasai's hair. " Kasai I think you have something in your hair" I said walking towards her. "what?" she said in alarm. she put her hand in her hair and her face flushed in relief. " no, its just my familiar" she smiled as a small lizard-like thing crawled onto her hand.

I tried to take a closer look at it but it spit fire out of its mouth. it took me a second to realize it was a tiny dragon on the end of her finger. "that's so cool!" I said excited. I always had a thing for reptiles.

"Korosu lets go. you're the one who said you wanted to sleep" Amaimon growled. I squeaked and got up walking out of the hotel room and down the hall to mine. I stopped at the door and turned around when I realized I had forgotten Daidamn. surprisingly he was already following me.

I knelt down to his level. "he doesn't trust you very much you know. But I feel it, you're going to do great things" I said petting his head. I opened the door and as I walked in, I turned around and Daidamn wasn't there.

I looked back and saw that Amaimon had a paper ripped up in his hand. "why'd you do that?" I asked confused. "I didn't want him near you or in this room while we slept" Amaimon said letting the sheds fall to the floor.

what's wrong with him? why is he acting like this? "Amaimon why are you doing this? this isn't you?" I said starting to get angry. he never growls at me. he's being really childish and I know that's how he is but he's not usually like this.

It wasn't the anger I was used to. it wasn't life and death, it was frustration and it was making me upset. I felt the tears prick my eyes and I tried to keep them back, but when couldn't, I wiped them away.

I heard Amaimon sigh. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm becoming more possessive by the day. Just seeing you hang around other demons and I-I get angry. I want to keep you to myself, but I know I can't. I want you to only be mine as selfish as it is" He said hugging me lose.

could the possessiveness be because of the demon heat? Is it really getting close? bu -but I think its cute he wants to protect me. "you're not selfish, I understand now. I am yours, don't forget that" I said. " Its just that other demons don't get that" he mumbled.

" yeah" I whispered. I looked up at him and he gave me an unreadable face. he leaned down and nuzzled my face slowly and took deep breaths. "I'm sorry for growling at you" he said still nuzzling me.

what is he doing? he is going very instinctual. some animals use nuzzling to mark mates by rubbing their scent on them. so he's marking me? no, its temporary but it would tone down his possessive behavior. "Its okay, you just scared me" I said nuzzling back lightly. "I don't want you to be afraid of me" He whispered close to my ear.

I gave him a light kiss on his neck on instinct. he suddenly stopped nuzzling and I looked up at him. had I done something wrong? he moved his hand to the back of my neck and slowly brought his lips to mine. and we kissed slowly but it was passionate.

his hands traveled down and he picked me up like I weighed nothing. I wrapped my legs around his waist, neither of us breaking the kiss. he broke the kiss and traveled down my neck. he sucked, napped and scrapped at my neck. I let my head fall onto his shoulder as he never let up the attack on my neck.

I was moaning lightly while Amaimon climbed onto the bed with me clinging to him. the smell started up again and my brain was starting to become fuzzy. he ended up pressing flush against me and I felt something poke my inner thigh.  

is that Amaimon's- even though my brain was hazed, I unwrapped my legs from his waist and backed up a little. his eyes hand specks of gold in them and I've never seen him like that. "Amaimon?" I asked because he seemed to be in a daze. the smell quickly went away and he seemed to snap out of it.

"I don't know what came over me" he said breathing heavy. "lets go to sleep" I said putting the covers over me. It's not that I didn't want to. its just....... I'm scared you know. I don't have any experience and I didn't think we would be going this far. well I did but it didn't actually set in until now.

I sounded like I was angry at him. I turned over and found his back to me. I cuddled into his back and he looked back at me and I gave him a small smile. he turned over and hugged me to his chest. I felt safe in his arms and fell into a peaceful sleep.

I woke up to Amaimon talking to behemoth on the floor. I crawled to the side of the bed and laid there with my head over the edge of the bed. "so you couldn't find her?" he sighed and behemoth shook his head no. 

"so its time for last resort?" I asked concerned. its not that I mind letting Daidamn help but I know that Amaimon isn't really comfortable with him. " come on. I don't like him but we need him" he said standing up. he looked down at me and his eyes flashed gold for a second. I got off my elbows and extended my arms out kinda doing a yoga pose. he leaned down and gave me a kiss and then walked away.

"so how are we-" as I was asking Amaimon stuck his hand out. a familiar circle was immediately burned into the floor. "come on. the sooner we find her the better" he said. I got up and I walked over to the circle. "I don't have anything to cut  my finder on" I said looking around.

"here" he said taking my finger up to his mouth and cut my finger with one of his fangs. I had to force myself to bleed because most of the time my body wont let me. blood finally dripped onto the pentagram and Daidamn materialized. he barked happily and I knelt down to pet him.  

" Okay so I need you to find someone for me okay?" I said petting him. "keep your thoughts in check" Amaimon growled lowly at the hound. the hound looked over and growled back at him. this mad Amaimon's anger flare and he gave out a strange loud growl and Daidamn coward immediately. he showed his neck as a sign of submission.

"here, could you find her for me" I said taking off my shirt from last night, because I never changed out of it and it has the most blood on it,  and gave it for him to sniff.  Amaimon growled loudly and stomped his foot down close to Daidamn. "Go find her before I kill you, puppy" he said making Daidamn turn into a shadow quickly and disappear into my shadow.

"why are you getting so mad?" I asked him exasperated. "first he was rude to me and then hit on you, he's lucky we need him or I would've already killed him" he growled. I was really confused for a second. "he hit on me? but he's just a dog, I thought he wouldn't even take any romantic interests in me" I asked confused.

"he's only a dog because he runs on your blood. your blood is the only energy he has to go off of and if you gave him enough blood then he would be able to transform into human form. he's a high ranking shadow hound, he has a human form and I don't appreciate you getting half naked in front of him even in dog form" Amaimon said looking away.   

"I don't want anyone looking at what's mine. please go put something on" he said blushing from the tips of his ears, in anger and embarrassment. I didn't think much of when I took my shirt off. I'm only in a bra. oh my gosh, I'm only in a bra. as the revelation hit me I got up and quickly made my way to the bathroom.

I quickly changed into a shirt and a pair of skinny jeans. I tied my hair up and popped back into the room too find Amaimon. "so how long will the search take?" I asked. "almost all day. I have a whole army, not only is he only one demon but its day light and the chance for shadows are much lower then at night" he said putting on his jacket. "so what do we do for the rest of the day?" I asked walking towards him.

"we can go on a date" he said turning and smiling at me sheepishly. "I'd love that" I said taking his hand. "I'm surprised you're letting me leave the room" I joked. " well my scent is all over you and I left a mark" he smiled once we got onto the empty elevator. I gasped.

he marked me? I looked at the mirrors that made up the interior of the elevator and saw that he gave me a hickey. I looked him and glared playfully and he chuckled and pulled me to him and tried to give me a kiss but I crossed my arms and pouted and he laughed. he blew a raspberry on my cheek and I laughed with him.

the elevator slowed and it opened as he tried to tickle me and I ran out of it. he chased after me and I laughed as I ran feeling alive. we ran at a human speed as not to scare anyone. once I got outside the hotel, Amaimon caught up with me and picked me up from behind and I laughed and screamed at the same time.

" so where to?" he asked putting me down. "I don't know, where do you wanna go in the city?" I asked looking for something to do. "I actually want to get away from the city. its nice for a while but I like a place were I have more control, less noise and people" he said.

"lets stop for Ice cream first" I said finding an ice cream shop down the street. "sounds good" he said taking my hand. we walked down the street and walked into the small shop. we stood in line for a little bit because it was it was spring and starting to become warm.

my phone rang and I picked it up. "hello?" I asked into the phone. "oh thank god. we were worried. where are you?" Yukio said on the other line. "Ice cream shop down the street with my A- amazing boyfriend" I said realizing that it would be weird to say the demon kings name in public were people could listen in.

"why are you out when the pureblood is still out there?" he asked worried. "look, she won't attack me in front of everyone and I have my boyfriend to protect me. I have a 'friend' looking everywhere for her. he should have news by tonight at the latest" I said having to change things to seem like a normal conversation.

"are you sure you'll be okay?" he sighed. "yes, promise. I'll be back before nightfall" I said teasing. "okay.... well bye" he said hanging up. we walked up to the ice cream stand and a girl smiled and asked us what we wanted. "I'll take cookie dough and " I said unsure what he wanted.

Amaimon noticed my confusion and answered "cherry." she looked around for a second and suddenly asked " cone or bowl." "we'll both take cones" I said giving her a 10. she smiled and gabbed the cones and scooped out ice cream onto it. she gave me my change and our cones " have a nice day."

" thanks! you too" I said leaving the shop with Amaimon in tow. "come on, the forest is this way" Amaimon said nudging me to look in his direction. we started walking in the direction he said the forest was. people gave us weird look while walking by, so I huddled closer to Amaimon.

"what's wrong" he chuckled lowly so only I could hear. "they're staring" I whispered. I wasn't used to all those eyes. I was used to feeling them when I used to be in school but there has ever been so many eyes on me that I can see. "its happens all the time. its because of how I dress" he said shrugging.

"oh. why do you dress like that anyway?" I asked. he doesn't really take off that burgundy jacket, or really change anything. "well, I'll tell you when I get there" he said as we walked across the street and got to the edge of town.

we got to the edge of town and walked up to the tree line. "come on. I have the perfect spot" he said grabbing my hand, slowly leading me into the woods. we walked for a while. I tripped on a tree root but he caught me because he's always there when I need him. we stopped and he looked up and suddenly the tree branches swooped down.

they unclosed underneath us and lifted us up. I almost fell but Amaimon pulled me to him to keep me steady. we got close to the top of the trees and it slowed. the sun shined through some of the tree leaves as we looked up. he looked down and sat. when he laid down, that's when I realized it was supposed to be a hammock. I laid down too and took another lick of my ice cream.  

"so why do you dress like that?" I asked smiling at him. "well the jacket was a gift from my mother and father on my 14th birthday. well, not actually 14 but to humans I looked 14. demon kings age very slowly compared to other demons and humans. big brother looks like he is in his late 30's think of how old he really is. but the way we dress is specific and we all have a special item of clothing we wear that was given to us. when I have an heir then he will inherit my jacket" he said taking a chunk out of his ice cream.

instead of thinking of how cold that must have been, my mind was occupied with what he had said. "heir? as in to the throne? like your kid kind of heir?" I said looking at him surprised. "yeah" he smiled while still looking up.

"how long- when did you- a-are you ready to, I mean" I stuttered on, not being able to find the right words. "not any time soon. I'm too young to have an heir" he laughed. I blushed at my outburst. of course he's not thinking about that, we're too young. wait, I mean he, well I am too young, b-but its his heir.

"sorry about bring up my heir. I actually didn't want to have kids but..." his sentence died out. didn't? "what do you mean didn't. what do you want now?" I said moving my body to face him. "I mean...... I thought about it and I want to have a kid now" he said blushing a little. I started blushing more as he looked at me.

"n-not now. I mean later in the future. I was-I meant that I reconsidered having kids recently" he said the redness taking up more of his face. he looked shocked and nervous and he kept opening and closing his mouth trying to think of what to say.

I cuddled up to him and he relaxed, taking it as a sign that I understood what he meant. "so have you ever had cookie dough before?" I asked him trying to change the atmosphere. "no actually" he said looking at me and then my hand. "its basically vanilla, a little different but the cookie dough is the really good part" I said giving him my melting ice cream.

he took a bite out of the cone, taking ice cream with him. "Its good" he said giving it back to me. when he had handed it back to me I realized that the ice cream hand melted so much it got on my hand. I just shrugged and brought my fist to my face and licked the ice cream off my hand in long licks.

I licked my lips to get any excess and then I felt eyes on me. I looked over at Amaimon who hand hooded eyes but the gold flecks had returned to them. I cleared my throat and he seemed to snap out of it and said "hey, do me a favor. can you just lay here and exist with me? this past year has been pretty hectic, I just want to relax and just be in the moment here with you."

"yeah, wouldn't want to be anywhere else" I said finishing off my ice cream cone. I laid down all the way and cuddled up to him more. I closed my eyes and just felt the heat of the sun and listened to the birds and inhaled the smell that was just purely Amaimon.

I woke up to ringing and reached down to grab my phone. "hello?" I asked groggy. when did I fall asleep? "the sun set 15 minutes ago. where are you?" Yukio asked through the phone. I was suddenly very awake. I sat up and looked around and quickly noticed that it was dark.

"Amaimon, its dark. we have to head back" I said urgently to Amaimon who woke up very confused. he let what I say settle in and he sat up. "shit, we were supposed to be at the hotel by now" he said lowering us to the ground.

"I'll use a portal. its faster" Amaimon said quickly making one faster then I've ever seen Caster do. "you know how to make portals?" I asked surprised. "It's level one magic, I just prefer not to use it" he said grabbing my hand as we walked through.

we went through the portal and ended up in our hotel room. I hurried to the door and ran down the hall. I knocked on her door and Kasai opened it ushered me in. "what's happened?" I asked.

"your familiar showed up. he's been here for a while but he refuses to talk to anyone but you" Yukio said making a path to Daidamn. "but I can't understand him" I said petting his head. "he's asking for more blood" Amaimon said leaning against the wall.

"oh! do you think its a good idea?" I asked unsure. "yeah, I'll be right here the whole time" he said glaring at Daidamn, daring him to try something. I grabbed a knife from the kitchen and cut my finger. bleed, come on bleed- I begged my body. a few drops fell and he licked them up, careful not to touch me.

I willed myself to stop and watched it heal up and watched as Daidamn's bones broke and reformed into a human like demon. his eyes were red just like his dog form. his white hair in a ponytail and his skin pale. he was kneeling before me, naked might I add, and he looked up at me and smiled, showing off his sharp teeth. only further proving he was a demon.

"If you stand, I will slit your throat" Amaimon growled as Daidamn was going to get up. "why would that be a problem? I do it all the time in Gehenna" he asked confused. "are you questioning human custom Daidamn? last I checked, her blood is the reason you're in Assiah. so stay down where no one can see your anatomy and we don't have a problem" Amaimon growled, glaring down at the shadow hound.

"stop fighting. Daidamn, what is the news on the pureblood" I asked tired of their bickering. "she is currently dying in the woods 8 miles east of here as we speak" he said and I looked shocked. 8 miles? she shouldn't have even made it that far. "how did she die?" I asked.

8 miles is too far to just die from what we did. someone must have done something else. we didn't kill her, someone or something else did. if she died from Amaimon ripping out her heart then she shouldn't even have made it one mile much less 8.

"what was her bodies state in?" I asked. "she had her insides cut out, her body decaying around the edges, her intestines having chunks missing" he said seriously. "okay, we have to go now. I don't think an animal could've done it" Amaimon said walking out the hotel room. "Daidamn, meet us there" I said as he disappeared back into a shadow.  

"come on, I have a hunch but we need to get there now" Amaimon said making a portal into the wall of our hotel room. we all looked at each other and put on our gear on top of our clothes. I grabbed my gun and took out the mag, once I saw it was full I put it back in the gun. we all filed in through the portal.

what we saw, we didn't expect to see. Amethyst lying there, mangled and exactly what Daidamn said she would look like. I heard hushed yelling as I focused on the things around me. "get off! I'm trying to do my job! let go!" I heard. I walked past my ex-friend's mangled body, further into the woods where I saw a hooded girl trying to get Daidamn off her cloak.

"who are you" I asked and she tensed. "I'm maki" she said struggling against my familiar. "what are you" I asked cocking my gun, watching her tense again and put her hands up. "don't shoot okay, I was just trying to do my job" she said breathing heavy.

"Turn around and tell me what you are?" I said sounding irritated but inside I was scared, what is she? why won't she tell me? "I'm a reaper, I-I'm here to collect the soul Amethyst, pureblood from the Sanguis Coven" she said shaking. "A grim reaper?" I asked amazed, lowering my gun.

"yeah, we don't die but getting shot hurts a lot" she said biting her lip. "Daidamn let her go. let her do her job" I ordered. Daidamn complied, letting go as she stumbled a bit in front of me. "thank you so much. its my first time on the field and I really didn't want to fail" she said relieved. she walked by me and made her way to the body. 

"guys, this is Maki. she's the grim reaper here to take Amethyst soul" I said as I made it past the trees and back to my family. "is-is that a demon king?" she asked cowering away a bit. "its fine. do your job. he just needs to inspect the body after you're done" I said trying to calm her.

and it seemed to work because she took out a small knife and stabbed Amethyst. at first I was shocked but then I saw a white soul decorated with red come out of the wound Maki made. "okay, I'm gonna check her memories" she said cutting the soul with the knife.

white fluid poured out of the soul and onto her hand. "Okay, checking had begun" she said throwing the fluid into the air. it floated, slowly coming together into an almost glass like appearance. "memories begin" she said as we waited. we waited for what seemed like hours, but was only minutes.

"I don't understand. her fondest memories are supposed to play. something is wrong, someone tampered with her soul" Maki said stressing. suddenly the glass turned a black color. Maki gasped at the sudden change.

it started playing almost like a movie. but there was only one slide. my heart stopped as I read it. on the black glass were the words

' Keyta, we found you '
