Chapter 32
Cheyenne
By the time I had realized what had happened Markus was leaning against a tree watching me remove the piece of wood from my hair. He just stared at me with eyes I couldn't meet with my own, and waited.
After I had gotten the branch detangled from my hair I flipped my head forward and gathered all of my hair into an extremely messy bun.
Once I had all my hair secured I flipped my head back up, to find my face close to Markus' leg, making my body jerk backwards and roll away from him. I soon found myself on my feet, but not even a second later a large hand was firmly wrapped around my upper arm.
I figured there was no chance of escape, and I glared off to the side, angry that I had been caught because of my hair. I knew it would get in the way.
Markus pushed a shorter, stray hair behind my ear, making me squeeze my eyes shut and lean away from his hand. I heard him sigh and tell me, "Come on," he started to pull me forward, "Let's go home."
That made me plant my feet to the ground. How could he say that place was home? My home was however far away I could get from this sick guy.
I ripped my arm free of his grasp, ignoring the pain that came from the action, and pushed myself away from him. I stumbled to the side, and found a tree in my path, so I just pressed my head against the rough bark. My hands were all scratched from climbing the trees, yet the bark felt more comforting than Markus.
I felt the tears running down my face. Was that house going to be the closest thing to a home for the rest of my life? Was I actually going to be stuck there forever?
When Markus' hand was placed on my shoulder I turned away from the tree to face him and before I could do anything else, he hugged me.
I paused for a moment, shocked from the action, but once I had understood what was happening I slammed my head into his. Then, once he had released me, I pushed him with as much force I could muster and I watched him slam into a nearby tree.
Fuck, how much adrenaline was coursing through my body right at that moment? That's the only way I would've been strong enough to push him that far and hard.
I looked at my hands for a moment, surprised of how much force I had used, and looked up towards Markus. His head was bent towards the ground and I moved to take a step toward him. Had I hurt him?
Before my foot had even come in contact with the ground his head shot up, and he opened his eyes to show completely black irises.
I instantly changed my course and stumbled backwards, truthfully fearing for my life now. He had been so mad earlier, and that was when I hadn't done anything.
Now I had pissed him off.
And I was going to pay.
