Lucifers pov

"Here is your meal my lord. Bon appetit" the chef bowed before leaving. I blinked in surprise. Gabriel usually cooks our food for us so I've never had a personal chef or butler. I guess it's natural he can afford it seeing as he lives in a fricking castle!

"Is the food to your liking dear?" He looked at me expectingly. I guess he's looking for me to take a bite. Nodding I took a bite. As soon as the meat hit my taste buds my eyes lit up.

"It's really good" I dug in "you should give the chef a raise"

He burst out laughing "you have the most bizarre little ideas"

"Why is kindness such a foreign concept to you?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Because down here it is a foreign concept" he said simply as he popped a piece of venison in his mouth "in the underworld the only thing people know is cruelty and ignorance. Looking out for number one is how our people have survived for so long"

"Just because that's the way it used to be doesn't mean things have to stay that way" I argued "maybe I could change their minds"

He let out a laugh "that's a cute sentiment dear but an entirely unrealistic one"

"You don't know that for sure" suddenly an idea came to mind "how about we make a deal. If I can turn the citizens of the underworld into kind and understanding people then you'll let me go back home. If I give up then you can do whatever you want with me"

"Intriguing. You've got yourself a deal" he held his hand out and I shook it with a grin. I just found my ticket out of here.
