Chapter 6: Bad dreams
"Shit." They all said at the same time. Angus started crying. Bon took him in his arms and walked away from the others as far as possible. Cliff and Phil tried to keep Malcolm awake.
"Shh It's good. Ang. You need to calm down." Bon tried. Angus was hiccupping from crying.
"He's my brother and I couldn't save him. Do you understand? He went through this because of me."
"Shh. It's good." Bon pressed Angus' head against his chest.
"I couldn't save him." The lead guitarist whispered through tears. When he had calmed down somehow, he went to his brother, who was still lying miserably on the floor.
"Hey. Hey, Mal I'm here." Angus lay down next to him and held him like a big stuffed bear. He tried to touch as little of his pelvis or back as possible. Malcolm buried his face in the crook of Angus' neck and sniffed once. Everyone knew that Malcolm never cried because his grandfather (whom Angus luckily hadn't known anymore) used to hit him when he was a little kid whenever he cried.
"You can let go bro." Angus said as he stroked his hair. But you didn't hear more than sniffles. The others decided to lay in a heap and let the brothers have their moment. Malcolm's fingers gripped Angus' shirt so tightly he thought he heard it snap. But he said nothing. Because his brother had just had such a terrible life experience that nobody should have.

At night, Malcolm would wake up screaming and drenched in sweat. Angus jumped, as did his friends. Malcolm sat next to him, breathing heavily. He was hyperventilating.
"It's fine Malcolm. It was just a dream." Angus tried to calm him down. Once Malcolm was asleep again, it wasn't long before he started shaking and muttering:
"No. No, not him, leave Ang alone. No, take me. Leave Bon and Ang alone. No. Please, no more. Please..." The whole band was awake and heard him grumbling. They looked at each other anxiously. "...No, no, not Phil. Leave him...leave him alone...not Phil." Then it was quiet for a moment. But that didn't last long: "No! Not. Leave Cliff out of the game. Please do not hurt them Angus. Please...please don't. Angus. Bon, please..." Tears rolled down his cheeks. That was the point when Angus couldn't take it anymore.
"Hey, hey, wake up. It was just a dream. Sh. It's good." He held him close and stroked his mangled hair.
"He wanted to hurt you." He cried. Everyone but Angus was shocked because they had never seen him cry before.
"Hey, calm down. All is well. He didn't hurt us." Angus tried.
"But he ... he wanted to kill Bon and ... and Phil was bleeding and ... and Cliff was chained dead next to me and you ... you got ... got ... in front of me..." Angus understood what his big brother was about to say and swallowed. Bon hugged Malcolm:
"Sh, we are not dead. All is well Mal. We'll get out of here and then everything will be fine." Cliff and Phil looked at the two helplessly.
"But...but, he can't touch you." Malcolm whispered. Then he fell asleep. Bon still held him in his lap.
"Oh god." Phil choked out. "I won't survive this. Mal gets raped and then dreams that that's happening to us."
"He was abused and is afraid for us." Bon whispered.
"I didn't know we meant so much to him." Cliff choked. Angus just sat there and looked sadly at his brother.
"He should never have gone through that. Never. Never. Never."
"No one should have to go through that."
"But will he ever be able to be my normal brother again?" Bon put an arm around his shoulders:
"He'll always be your brother, one way or the other."
"Thanks, Bon." Then they all fell asleep again.
