Chapter Three
I fell to the floor as blackness clouded my vision and the ringing overpowered everything else.
I awoke to a dark cold room. Goosebumps lined every inch of my exposed skin. I instantly wished for the warmth of my coat, which had somehow disappeared.
Looking around, I realized that the room I was in was in some sort of basement. The only light came from a tiny window towards the ceiling to my left, but even that was quickly fading.
I tired to stand up, but was pulled back down onto the chair under me. Craning my head as far to the tight as I could, I realized my hands and legs were tied to the chair so I couldn't escape.
The ceiling began to shake as the man descended from the floor above. I resisted the urge to cough as dust filled my lungs.
As the man got closer, his footsteps began to shake the wall and hanging light on the other end of the basement. If only it was on, then I could see what was in this room, I thought.
The wooden beams were shaking even worse now, making me fear that they'd be the thing to kill me. A door that was behind me was suddenly thrown open, but not before I rested my head on my shoulder to look like I was sleeping.
The floorboards creaked as the man inches closer to me, taking his sweet time. When he finally reach my chair, I was viciously spun around to face him.
There goes that plan, I thought, my heart sinking at the realization.
"Hello girlie, how have you been?" he taunted, his warm breath hitting my face. I was completely petrified as to what he was going to do.
"Don't want to speak? That's alright, I'll do all the talking!" he exclaimed, his voice bouncing off the walls and echoing into my skull.
"Do you know why you're here, girlie" he asked, waiting for me to respond. I shook my head no.
"No? You don't know why your hear?" he questioned, turning to me. As soon as his body was parallel to mine, he let out a loud laugh.
"Silly, silly girl you are! Oh my, this will be so much fun. Maybe I could wait a little longer before I execute my plan..." he pondered aloud, almost as if he was asking for my permission.
"Anyways, you're here because one, I don't like your mother. Two, you were an easy target. And three is that, well, I just wanted to!" he laughed.
A shiver went down my spine at the thought of what he would do to me and my mother.
"Wha-what do you wa-want from me?" I stuttered, my throat dry from fear and lack of water.
His eyes clouded with anger as he stomped up into my face. My face was flung to the side as his palm hit my cheek.
"I said I would do all the talking!" he roared, kicking the chair I was tied to. I began to tip and before I could process, I was laying on the floor.
My cheek was swelling more and more every second and I could still feel the pain from the impact. A chill went down my spin from the ice cold floor.
My tied hands began to shake in terror as I clamped my mouth shut to stop me from making any sounds.
"Good girlie, I'll be back before you know it. Don't try anything," he said, turning on his heel and walking back to the door.
I listened as the door was slammed shot and heard the click of a lock. His heavy footsteps pounded back up the stairs, leaving me hurt, scared, cold, and alone.
