Tell Me You Love Me (You Know I Do) part 1
Spiderman. Spiderman. Does whatever a spider can. Spiderman. Spiderman. Does whatever a spider can. (If you listen to the Far From Home trailer, this plays at the very end.)
As Peter swung home, positive thoughts consumed his mind. I aced my bio quiz, 100%. Flash was absent today. The cafeteria had cupcakes today. MJ kissed me. The last one made him blush.
Point was, for the first time in awhile he felt genuinely happy. The rainbow before the thunderstorm.
When Peter did arrive home, still humming his fan made tune, the positivity was still clinging onto him. But a very angry look from May changed all that. Wait a flippin minute. He was still in his suit.
Peter stammered, “May, uh, I can explain. Remember that trip to Oscorp? Three years ago? Well, I, uh got bitten by a radioactive spider and I decided to use my powers for good cause there’s a lot of bad in the world.” May intervened, “Yeah Peter, there is a lot of bad in the world, but you are only adding on to with this freak.” Peter ignored the tears, pleading, “May, I’m just looking out for the little guy. Why not make the world a better place if you have the power? Like the Avengers? Like Ben always said, great power comes with great responsibility.” The Ben reference was supposed to reason with her but all it did was agitate her even further.
May fumed, “Peter Benjamin Parker, I did not raise you to be some weirdo, freak, criminal who ends up making a bigger mess of what was started with.” Peter flinched under her cold harsh words. But this was Aunt May, the kind, forgiving, understanding May. So why was this any different? May eyes showed none of that. She looked really upset, furious. Peter shrank back under her large glare. May snarled, “Get out.” Peter stuttered, “What?” May spoke, tone firmer, louder and colder. “Get out of my house.” Peter sputtered, “But May?”
May approached him and did the unforgivable, hit him. Peter lightly gasped in shock. May thundered, “I took you in not because I wanted to. But because Ben wanted you. I put up with all your antics, all your petty problems when you go behind my back using your freakshow to do things. Instead of being placed in a mental asylum. Get out. You aren’t a Parker. Ben, and your parents, they have never been more disappointed in you. Get out and don’t come back.”
Tears freely streaming down his face, Peter tossed his money, laptop, cell phone and charger and little things that he loved into his backpack. May hadn’t left, she really wanted him gone. He tucked his suit into the secret pocket. He wasn’t going to go past her and get another stinging slap. He turned the window and swung away.
Tears poured down Peter’s face rapidly. Peter stopped once he reached a tall skyscraper. He sat there, a little too close to comfort by the edge and let himself cry. Soon, thunder boomed and it began to rain. Hard. Soon, Peter’s tears were falling as hard as the raindrops outside, the weather not helping with his guilty mood. He slipped on his Spiderman mask to prevent the water from fogging up his eyes even more. He glumly welcomed KAREN, “Hey Karen.” KAREN replied in her usually chipper voice, “Good afternoon Peter.” Peter muttered a greeting in a distracted voice. Karen asks in a concerned voice, “Peter is everything alright?” Peter shrugged, “Yeah, I’m fine.” Karen spoke, “I detect increased heart rate and severe anxiety, calling Mr. Stark now.” Peter groaned, he didn’t need Tony worrying about him, he was the least important thing on Tony’s agenda. As much as he wanted to call Tony, Tony, he had to be respectful. After all, Parkers always respect their elders.
When Tony got the call from KAREN, he wasted no time in finding his young protege. He finds Peter on the verge of a building, much too close for his liking. Usually the kid seems so chipper, but his shoulders are slumped and he’s looking down, physically and mentally.
Tony sits down next to Peter, “Kid, tell me what happened.”
