Thank you guys. So so much. ❤❤❤❤
The Avengers duke it out, (Papa Rogers before IW--Peter is ten years old--there will be more of my regular oneshots, I’m just in an angsty mood and making steve cry will cause eternal suffering) and battle HYDRA.
One of the HYDRA agents call out towards Steve and the others, “Make one more move and you will highly regret it.” Steve scoffs, “Or else what.” Another agent emerges, but is holding a terrified Peter. The agent has Peter wrapped around her arm, and is more than eager to press on his neck to provoke the Captain and the Avengers. Peter calls out, “Papa! Uncle Tony! Auntie Nat! Help!” Steve freezes. His demeanor completely shifts, “Let him go.” He doesn’t ask, he demands. He can feel how scared Peter is. The man, replies, “No.” Everyone is poised to attack when he nods to the agent. She presses pressure on Peter’s neck and he begins to splutter as he finds it hard to breathe. Steve holds his arms up, signaling surrender. “Stop! Please! Just don’t hurt him.” The man in charge speaks, “Loosen Agent Springrose.” (Let’s see who gets the reference) She complies, still holding him. The man approaches Peter and he shrinks back, letting out a low whimper that everyone hears. Steve knows not to make a move because then it will cost him Peter. That is a price too high to pay. The man punches Peter straight in the nose breaking it. Peter yells out in anguish and the man only laughs. Suddenly, hundreds of HYDRA agents appear and the Avengers are too distracted fighting them to realize that Agent Springrose and Agent Reed are leaving with Peter Rogers.
After some point Steve notices and takes off. Something hits him and then he is consumed by darkness. HYDRA agents take him and toss him into the back of a truck along with an unconscious bleeding Peter.
When Steve wakes up, he finds that he is restrained to a chair. Metal covers his wrists and hard thick ropes ties his feet to the hard metal of the chair. As his vision comes together, he sees what’s in front of him. His son in the same state as him but bleeding from his nose. This angers Steve. Peter slowly wakes up and Steve speaks softly, careful not to frighten him more, “Pete, bud, you okay?” Peter surveys their situation. “Papa? Where are we?” His voice sounds scared. He is. He’s terrified. Steve speaks softly giving him kind eyes, “It’s okay, we’re going to get out of here alright? Does anything hurt?” Peter nods, “My head.” Steve speaks, “It’ll get better bud, just try not to move okay? How are your wrists? Is the metal too tight?” Peter shakes his head. His stomach growls. Steve gives Peter an amused look to distract him from the fact that there might not be dinner.
Then the door is open and Agent Reed walks inside. He sneers, “Well, look who’s up and awake.” Steve gives him a dirty look. “What do you want?” Reed looks at him, “To destroy you.” Steve isn’t sure what exactly that means but he doesn’t want to find out. Reed then speaks, “Hungry? We only give food to agents. Guess you’ll have to starve.” Reed pulls out a blade. Peter looks down, realizing that dinner is the least of their worries. He strides to Peter and Steve’s heart stops for a second. “Don’t. You can hurt me all you want but touch him and I’ll kill you.” Reed mocks, “Touch him and I’ll kill you. Oh Captain, your in no place to threaten me. Or condition. Your both at my complete mercy.” He holds Peter’s right arm steady and Peter flinches, shaking. Steve speaks softly, “Pete, honey, look at me. Look at Papa.” Peter’s scared eyes meet Steve’s. Reed plunges the blade inside Peter’s arm. Peter lets out a scream and it Steve wants to beat this man up. Reed enjoys Peter’s reaction, dragging the blade across his delicate skin. Peter’s eyes form tears, “Stop! Please! You’re hurting me!” Reed only smirks at Peter, “Oh, this is just the beginning.” He smacks Peter harshly and Peter feels his skin sting in pain. Reed trails his blood stained blade to Peter’s left arm. Steve speaks again, “Don’t.” The blade plunges again, harsher, deeper. Peter screams now, wanting to go home and be safe with his Papa. Steve blinks back tears, “Peter, baby, I know it hurts. Just look at me okay? You’re okay. You’re strong. It’s okay. It’s going to be okay. Focus on me bud. Eyes here.” Peter looks at Steve, still crying as Reed has his way with him. It hurts so much. He sniffles, praying that Reed will stop. Reed withdraws the blade sharply and Peter screams again in agony. Crimson colored liquid is dripping across Peter’s arms and tears are sliding down Peter’s cold cheeks.
Reed only speaks, “I almost forgot. Captain, you must have a tracker on you.” Steve does. Under his suit, on the top right of his back. He hopes that Natasha has tracked them. She probably has knowing her. Reed speaks, “You’re in the middle of nowhere. No country. No man’s land. Where is it?” Steve fires, “Even if I had it, why would you need it then?” Reed replies, “Insurance. Either you tell me or I force you too.” He makes a move towards Peter who freezes. Steve sighs, “On my back.” Peter speaks, “Papa, no! I’m okay. How are they going to find us then?” Steve replies, “It’s okay. They’ll find us. Don’t worry.” Reed sighs in false sympathy, “I’m sure they will. By then it will be too late.”
He slashes open Steve’s suit dragging the blade across his back. Steve does his best to not groan, yell or make Peter even more scared. He tells Peter, “It’s okay, I’m okay.” Steve keeps smiling, so that Peter doesn’t know how much this hurts. The blade comes in contact with the metal tracker and Steve flinches. Reed smiles, cutting the tracker out of Steve’s skin. The pain is almost unbearable as part of Steve’s skin is cut off of him. Reed holds the tracker in sight between the two and then throws it to the ground. He stomps on it, effectively shattering it. He picks it up and slams and locks the door shut.
Peter looks down at his shoes, trying to ignore all the blood dripping down on his clothes, doing his best to hide the sniffles. Steve speaks softly, “Pete, baby?” Peter looks up and Steve sees his eyes red and puffy and Steve wants nothing more than to snap out of this chair and scoop him up and hold him close. Steve speaks again, “Baby, I am so so sorry that those men got you. We’re going to get out of here okay? I promise you. Alright? Where does it hurt the most munchkin?” Peter whispers, “My left arm. Papa? I want to go home! It hurts so much! I’m scared Papa!” Steve gives him a kind, reassuring smile, “I know buddy, I want to go home too. I know it hurts. When we go home, I’ll take care of you okay? I, we’re stuck.” Peter nods, trying to think of something good. But the truth is, he’s a small person in a scary, dark, cruel world.
Steve senses the silence, “Hey Pete, do you want to play a game?” Peter looks at Steve curiously. “What game?” Steve smiles, “Let’s play the thinking game. I say something, a topic. Then you have to say something with the last letter in the same topic. Like apple. E, so egg.” Steve swallows then speaks, “I’ll go first, also, you can’t use the same words. That’s the challenge. I’ll pick apple.” Peter thinks for a second then replies, “Egg!” Steve genuinely smiles, effectively distracting Peter from their hostage situation. Steve then replies, “Grapes.” Peter pauses then replies, “Spaghetti! Like the one you make Papa!”
'Before Steve can reply the door unlocks and a figure walks in. Peter immediately shuts up, and Steve gives a dirty look. It’s Agent Springrose along with Agent Reed. Agent Reed speaks, “Just because you are here doesn’t mean you two can play games.” Steve only tries to figure out a way to free himself. She walks over to Peter and smacks him. Steve scowls at Reed, “It was my idea, punish me instead, it wasn’t his fault!” Reed only stands there, intending to watch the father suffer. Agent Springrose keeps on punching him, hitting him, until his entire face is bruised and bloody. After Peter is at the verge of losing consciousness she backs off before making her way over to Steve. She speaks cooly, “You know, he is a cute kid. It would be a shame to ruin him.” Steve wants to spit at her but he knows that she’ll take her anger out on Peter.
After endless punch after punch, kick after kick, bruise after bruise, she then spares him and locks the door. Reed whistles, “Talk more and it’ll be worse.” Reed smirks and then shuts the door, a clicking sound alerts that its locked. Steve gives a concerned look to Peter, he’s blinking rapidly, all bruised and bloody. “Papa?” He weakly speaks, “I think I’m going to pass out.” His arms stop moving and his head falls forward, signaling unconsciousness. Steve sighs softly, wishing his son didn’t have to endure this.
Steve looks around, searching for a security camera or anything that’s recording them. He finds one on the right side wall with a red dot that shows that they are currently being recorded. He hears Peter mutter, as if he has a bad dream, and Steve’s not completely sure, but he can’t do anything to comfort Peter. He hears Peter whisper, “No!”, “Stop!”, “You’re hurting me!”, “Papa!”, “I want to go home.” Steve wants nothing more than to rub his fingers through Peter’s brown curls and hold him tight. To assure him he’s going to be safe. But they’re not. And they don’t know how long until the Avengers are going to find them. (But they are tracking them fyi)
The next day comes painfully slowly for Steve as he stays awake to make sure that nothing else bad happens and to be awake for Peter whenever he wakes up. After a few hours past dawn Peter’s head lifts slightly and his eyes slowly blink open. Steve speaks, “Pete, bud, how are you feeling?” Peter only shrugs as his vision slowly comes to focus.
The day goes by slowly, the two trying to think optimistic but there’s nothing that really comes out as optimistic. The door snaps open and Reed is back inside. “Well boys, hope you two are ready for the fun today.” Peter only looks at Reed terrified. Reed pulls out a blade and approaches Steve. Steve sighs in relief, they aren’t going to cut Peter again. Steve barely winces as the blade makes contact with his flesh. Steve watches as blood trickles down his biceps and Peter look nervously. After Reed gets enough blood, he withdraws the blade and tosses it to the floor. Steve and Peter only look in confusion. Reed pulls out a needle with a few complex scientific words. He holds it out for the two Rogers to see. He explains to them, “This gives spider powers. All of the advanced. Ask Tony Stark for more information.”
He begins to walk towards Peter serum still in hand. Peter’s eyes bulge and he thrashes around, not liking needles one bit. And this is one is big. And scary. Peter whimpers, “Papa, no needle! Please Papa!” Steve nods, “He’s just a kid. He doesn’t have any part in this!” Peter’s eyes are filled with terror. Reed does nothing, clearly enjoying every part of this. He strides over and holds Peter’s bloody arm still. Steve speaks, “Reed don’t! You’re going to hurt him! Leave him alone!” Steve watches helplessly as Reed slams the needle inside of Peter and he lets out a blood-curdling, heart-wrenching scream. It hurts so much, so so much. Peter’s body feels like it’s own fire. He begins to shake and he can’t stop. It’s too much. Everything becomes brighter and louder. He begins to lose consciousness. Steve fights the restraints, “Leave him alone!” Reed takes the needle out with a whistle and shuts the door. Steve looks at his son, “Pete, you have to stay awake bud. C’mon.” Peter tries his hardest but he surrenders into a deep dark abyss.
It’s a few dark, scary hours when Peter wakes up and Steve looks hopeful. In those quiet hours he has worked out a plan to reach the Avengers. Peter squints, everything seeming too much. His breathing becomes rapid and his palms feel sweaty. Steve notices, “Peter, bud, breathe. Look at me bud? Inhale. Exhale.” Steve exaggerates breathing and Peter quickly follows. “There you go bud.” He whispers, “I have a plan to get us out of here.” Peter only nods, not feeling so good. His mouth opens and he leans to the side and throws up.
Peter looks back in fear. He’s sick. Steve gently nods, “It’s okay bud, let it out.” He looks at the monitor, the red dot is gone. He has to act quickly. Steve uses all of his strength to free himself of the restraints on his wrist and they break off. Steve quickly unties his feet. He takes a piece of metal and covers the monitor so it can’t see them. He works quickly on freeing Peter. He gingerly lifts him up, tucking his head into his shoulder. He turns and spots his shield in the corner. He hoists it on to his back, keeping his good arm secure around Peter to shield him from any further damage.
Steve carefully opens the door and runs outside. Which triggers the escape alarm. Within minutes agents come pouring from various rooms ready to take them down. The blaring sound of the alarm, the footsteps of the agents, it’s too loud. Peter whispers, “Papa? It’s too loud.” Steve nods, “It’ll get better in a few minutes okay?” Peter nods, squeezing his eyes shut. Just what did that serum do to his son?
Steve begins to fight the agents, doing his best to keep Peter from getting further injured. After they are all knocked out, he grabs the phone off of one of them and runs while dialing Natasha. Natasha answers, “Yes?” Steve replies, “Nat, it’s me Steve, I got Peter. Help! Ah! (Steve gets shot) I don’t know where we are but it’s some base.” Natasha replies, “Got you. Siberia. We’ll be there in a few hours.” Steve replies, “Peter needs medics. Hurry!” The call disconnects. Steve keeps running until he finds a car. He notices that the sound of bullets have stopped he remains on edge. He feels something on his arm, it’s blood. It’s not his. Steve gently applies pressure, the wound isn’t deep, he can pull the bullet out. He goes inside the car, softly patting Peter’s back. “It’s okay bud, we’re okay. We’re out okay?” Peter mumbles, “Leg hurts.” That’s where the bullet is. Steve speaks softly, “I’m going to take it out okay? It’s going to hurt for a tiny bit okay?” Peter squeezes Steve’s hand as he uses his other one to gently pull the bullet out. Once its out, Steve chucks it outside. He props Peter on his lap. He hugs him tight, “Oh bud, I’m so sorry that HYDRA took you. I’m so sorry that they hurt you. I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you.” Peter nuzzles his father, “It’s okay Papa.” Steve remains holding Peter until he hears the sound of a Quinjet. He carefully opens the door, not caring that he’s bloody nearly everywhere but runs towards it. “Oh God.” Steve slowly passes out and Tony catches him while Natasha cradles Peter.
The team takes the two to the medbay where doctors operate on them. Peter refuses to be left alone without someone so Tony stays with him, as doctors stitch up his wounds. A little while later Peter falls asleep, still holding Tony’s hand like there’s no tomorrow.
When Steve wakes up, the first thing he murmurs is “Peter?” As his vision comes to focus, he realizes he is on a hospital bed with Peter in front of him. Tony asks, “Steve? You okay? Whatever happened, are you okay? When we found you guys you looked half dead.” Steve slowly sits up but then winces and then retreats back to lying down. “I’m fine, just a little tired. Is Peter okay?” Tony only looks at the sleeping ten year old, “Kid’s pretty strong. Hardly cried at the stitches. He was more worried about you.” Steve nodded, “Did you figure out, what the serum did to him?” Tony nodded, “It’s a spider serum. It gives him abilities. He can stick to almost anything, literally, almost anything. He got super strength, I think stronger than you. But the senses. Spiders have eleven times stronger senses than us. So Peter would experience everything at a much higher level.” Steve nods, wishing Peter would be okay. Tony senses this, “He’ll be okay Steve, we’ll all help him.”
