This actually isn't a kid quote but it happened at the preschool.

This week I've been substituting in a different class and working with two people I really like. Tonight we were talking about the really violent kid (who I mentioned earlier in this book) and how today he scratched a teacher's eyeball and is facing possible expulsion.

I brought up how on my very first day of work (I was in his class for my first three weeks) he cracked a wooden box across the top of my head and my scalp bled, and the other two teachers were nodding and interrupting me because somehow this story had spread throughout the school and I was apparently already famous for having my head cracked open on my first day at work.

Then one of them said, "I was so impressed yet completely baffled when you kept coming back."
