The city New York
I push myself up against the moving air to the third floor from the fire escape. Peter really has to learn to meet me somewhere on the ground instead of in the air. I quickly climb up the stairs only to meet Peter in full red and blue costume, balancing on the edge of the building.
"Finally!" He exclaims, "What took you so long?"
"Writing my thesis." I roll my eyes, pushing him off the building.
There's a faint Heeey heard as he drops before he reappears on the other side of the roof.
"Not cool." He huffs playfully, "How's Bucky Barnes?"
"How's Liz?" I ask him instead of answering.
"Touché." He grins.
"So, what's the plan, Parker?"
"I was actually thinking about flying around for a bit to look for trouble. I mean, if that's good with you."
"Well, since I still haven't learned how to fly so high, you have to do that part on your own. I'll follow you on my motorcycle."
He nods and jumps off the roof. He reappears a few moments later, hanging from a web.
"What are you waiting for?" He screams as he shoots a web to another building and swings between them.
I roll my eyes as I descend the fire escape again. My feet touch the ground for only a second when my eyes land on a guy leaning over my Triumph. I smirk, knowing I'm able to scare him away.
"Yo, what'cha doing over there?" I speak up.
He looks up to me, immediately recognizing my attire. His face is shocked, to say the least. He backs away from my cycle with his hands up in defeat.
"Nice ride you have." He stutters, "I didn't mean harm, Ma'am."
He turns around and runs away as fast as he could. I shrug and walk slowly to my cycle. Having an awesome reputation under locals really helps to keep my stuff safe in a town like this.
"Where the hell are you?" I hear Peter almost screaming through my earpiece.
"Honestly, dude." I answer, "You have to keep in mind that I can't shoot webs and hang from them like you do."
"Oh, my bad."
I start my motorcycle, "I'll be there in a jiffy."
I start driving while Peter keeps making a conversation. I groan when I hear his voice over the sound of my Triumph.
"Who says jiffy any more these days?"
"Apparently I do. A liability of hanging around with fossils."
I hear him laugh through my comm as I finally spot him between two buildings. I quickly catch up with him while I zig-zag between the cars.
"You know, Mr. Stark told me I should be a 'friendly neighborhood' Spiderman, and not an 'Avengers-saving the world' Spiderman."
"Bullshit." I huff, "I'm going to kill that man someday, and I'll make it look like a goddamn accident."
We end up catching some bad guys as well as teaching some catcallers a lesson. Oh, I love my job.
Yet, our lovely promenade soon gets interrupted when my mom calls into my comm.
"Hey, momma. What's up?" I stop my motorcycle in the next alleyway.
"There are people here from the government." She whispers, "They want to talk to you."
"Shit. Alright, I'll be home in 10. Just keep them occupied."
"Be safe, Addy."
I hang up and immediately turn back home. I apologize to Peter as I turn in the street at the back of our house and stop at the neighbor's house. I grab the backpack I stacked away in the bushes and quickly pull the clothes inside over my suit. I undo the fingers of my suit, pushing them in my sleeves, while I take off my mask and put it in the backpack.
I pull my hair in a messy bun before I lock my motorcycle. I don't want the government officials get any suspicions, if they don't already have some.
I walk past my neighbor's house to make sure the officials might not think that I'm anywhere near the vigilante.
"Mom! I'm home." I shout as I walk into our house.
Two men in suit emerge from the living room as my mom follows. Her eyes scan me, to make sure nothing of my suit sticks out, and I feel her relief washing over me.
"I didn't know we had visitors." I start, but they just sign for me to go to the living room.
They sit down and I do the same opposite from them.
"I'm Secretary Ross and this is one of my agents." The greying man introduces himself.
"I'm Addison." I cut him off, smiling like I know nothing.
"Do you know why we are here, Miss Jones?" He sighs.
"No. Not really. Why are you here?"
"We have found some strange developments in an ongoing investigation. Now, do you know Sam Wilson, aka Falcon?"
"Wait... My childhood friend is a superhero?"
"Don't act like you didn't know, Miss Jones. We are still searching for this-" He searches for a specific word, "Girl, that was present at the airport heist in Berlin a year ago."
I gulp. This is not sounding well. In fact, it sounds like they know who I am.
"We believe that girl is you, Miss Jones."
My breath stops in my throat while I continue to smile, "Why would you think that? I mean, my mom only lets me leave the house for classes and for groceries. Honestly, I would never be able to be someone that badass."
"Look, Miss Jones. If we find hard evidence of you being this vigilante, we are able to lock you up for violating the Sokovia Accords."
He stands up to leave our house as my mom joins me to wave them goodbye. She closes the door when she sees them driving away into the city. Mom then frantically pushes me upstairs to my room.
"What is going on?" I frown as she grabs a bag and starts throwing my clothes in it.
"I have called ahead. They're coming, and they will bring you to safety."
"Momma-"
"I just want you to be safe. And you are safe with them."
"Mom, please-"
I feel my eyes water as I try to stop her from packing.
"Addy. It's my duty, as your mom, to keep you safe, and this way I'll be able to."
"And who is going to keep you safe?" I inquire with a small voice.
"I'll be able to handle myself, thank you." She stops and puts her hands on my cheeks, wiping away the tears, "Your father and I always knew you were going to be great someday, and I don't want those stupid government officials take that away from you. I know you can protect yourself over here, but this is my way to protect you."
"Okay." I whisper, "Okay."
I take the clothes she's thrown on my bed and fold them neatly in the bag.
"I'll take your pictures down and hide them at Sam's mother. Don't you worry about a thing."
I turn around and wrap my arms around her body.
"I love you, momma."
"I love you too, sweetheart."
