I've been working on fleshing out my characters in this story. Here's what I have so far!

Kia Chevrolet Garfield

 "Kia Chevrolet Garfield." I hated my name until Mama reminded me that Kia is a girl's name, not just a car. She was asleep when they brought the birth certificate in and Dad filled it out. He always thought it was a good joke. I'd never name a baby after cars! The Garfield was a car made by a tiny company that repaired them, between 1904 and 1905. They only made a couple hundred, so nobody knows about that.

Kia Chevrolet Garfield, 32, is a Cashier from Atlanta, Fulton, GA, USA, Earth. She is unmarried with no children and has had a lot of education. She's been known to say "I don't need to be working 3 jobs, anyway!" Her goal: Save Ry'nao, Emperor Of The Seven!

Brown, straight hair with silver at her temples. Dark circles under her eyes. Blue eyes. 5'9" tall.

Kia is extremely extroverted, always on the go, living outside her mind in the real world. She is full of life, living out loud. Imaginative and charming. Lives for new and exciting experiences. However, at this level, she is not interested in experiences she considers detrimental to herself or others. The reason Kia lives so much outside the mind is that there's something inside she would rather not deal with, whether it's a tragic event during childhood (see background) or simply a lonely childhood that caused a lot of anxiety. This sub-type is people-oriented, enjoying contact and interaction with other people. There's an underlying understanding of tragedy, so she will bond quickly to others who suffer, trying to lift them up and distract them the way she distracts herself.

Kia's character flaw is based on the incorrect belief that suffering can be avoided indefinitely. During the story, she learns that always focusing on the positive is limiting and, although she seems to be living life to the fullest, she's actually missing an important part of life - the dark side.

When she's under pressure, she becomes rigid and self-limiting. When she's relaxed and secure, she takes time to think things through.

Kia may suffer from Adjustment Disorder with Disturbance of Emotions
An adjustment disorder is when a person has difficulty adjusting to a big change in his or her life or is having difficulty dealing with a past stressor. A stressor is anything that causes a great deal of stress in the person's life, positive or negative, like getting married or losing a job or loved one. The stressor's over, but the person is still being affected by the change. This character may not realize the past stressor is causing the condition. People with this version of the disorder show marked distress in excess of what would be expected from exposure to the stressor or things that remind them of the stressor, including symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as behavioral problems.

Kia Chevrolet is most probably the product of two conditions as a child: She was disconnected from her care-giving figure, who either didn't know how to show real love or didn't have the opportunity because of poverty, abuse or apathy. This child learned she couldn't depend on the care-giving figure. Combine that condition with a tragedy like abuse, witnessing something horrible or being picked on by other children and she was driven outside herself, finding intense experiences as a great distraction and a way to, at least, feel happy. As an adult, she has always been extroverted and the life of the party, rarely showing anyone that she is not truly happy. She tells others she had a great childhood, which we know is not the truth.

This character is likely to have multiple degrees in different areas. She would know a lot about a lot of things. But you wouldn't know it. She acts freely without inhibition and most people are shocked to find out how much education she has. What she does for a living may be very sophisticated.

Kia has a degree in Music and her concentration was in voice. But, she didn't make it to Julliard so she's been working 3 jobs while she decides what to do with her life. Her friends also washed out but their jealousy of her talents is wearing thin, as you can see from her mood board!

At work, Kia is up beat, innovative and fun to work with. Able to stay focused on the big picture, she is cool under pressure and able to inspire others to keep going. She's attracted to jobs where she can be independent, possibly running her own company.

Kia is loud and interactive, almost overly enthusiastic about life and especially the accomplishments of others. She piles praise on anyone who mildly deserves it, pushing everything to the extreme. Life is an amazing experience to her and she lets others know this. She's also very charming under pressure, able to talk her way out of just about any situation.

Dialogue examples: "I love that shirt!" "Great job!!" "I can't wait to get to the mountain!" Internal Dialogue: "I see the bright side. I feel good when I'm happy."

Kia can be enthusiastic, responsive and adventurous in a relationship. Others are initially drawn to her zest for life and adventure, but that wears thin when she won't acknowledge difficulties or pain. She likes partners who mirror her own self-image. Kia tends to be attracted to Type 5s (The Analyst) for friends and generally avoids Type 1s (The Revolutionary).

Kia Chevrolet moves psychologically toward being genuinely happy. She faces the inner demon that haunts her inner being and learns it's something she can put aside and live without avoiding. She will find security with a care-giving type, who offers unconditional love that can be depended on, thereby truly curing what ails her. She becomes calm inside and out, but still ready for adventure as a celebration of what she has become.

Both characters love freedom and the good life. However, Irdaktin, Master Diplomat Of Biehshah (Husband) can find Kia overly self-serving, not paying enough attention to the relationship or reciprocating in give and take. Irdaktin can then feel neglected and rush a solution. Kia can find Irdaktin overly focused on others and too needy. Feeling smothered and limited, Kia can respond with escapism and rationalization and Irdaktin with frustration.

Irdaktin, Master Diplomat Of Biehshah

Irdaktin, Master Diplomat Of Biehshah is a Master Diplomat from Leheren, Biehshah. He is unmarried with no children and has had a lot of education. He's been known to say "Let us discuss this. I am sure we can come to an agreement." His goal is to marry Kia and together, they will lead Biehshah Colony Of Ye~ Silver hair, huge brown eyes. Muscular, athletic appearance. Brave. Has served 3800 years of missions.

Irdaktin is a genuinely giving, accepting and warm person, who calms his inner fear of being unloved by helping others. He is personally involved with the person helped, looking for and finding an emotional connection, but tends to put aside what's best for himself, seeing wanting or needing as selfish. Self-love is conditional; Irdaktin loves himself only when giving. This subtype is people-oriented, so he will focus his attention on a specific kind of person and for a reason. For instance, he may be a helper for an invalid or care about and help cancer patients because a close relative had cancer. There's more of a personal connection to what he is doing. He can also see the good in almost anyone (even when no one else can).

Irdaktin's character flaw is based on the incorrect belief that personal fulfillment comes through giving to others. He tends to repress his own needs to do what he feels is the right thing: giving to others. During the story, he learns that the correct path to personal fulfillment, love and respect is through focusing on his own needs and learning to receive.

When he's under pressure, he becomes thoughtful and desperate for a solution that pleases the crowd. When he's relaxed and secure, he gets in touch with his own needs and lets the world take care of him for a while.

Irdaktin desperately wanted to connect to his protective father figure, but this figure was somehow inaccessible. He identified with the care-giving mother figure, seeing being a little nurturer as a way to fit in to the family structure and earn love from the protective figure. Putting aside self-love has always been the way for this type. He has always put the good of others above his own needs and, as such, may not have a lot of money or possessions and may have unfulfilled dreams. Irdaktin feels good about what he has done, but wishes he could have achieved more personal growth and material accomplishments.

Having had a lot of education, Irdaktin is more likely to focus his helping energy on societal problems. He's likely to be involved in big projects. He also has diverse and esoteric tastes when it comes to causes he's involved with.

At work, Irdaktin is helpful, openhearted and relationship oriented. He wants to bring out the best in others without expecting much in return. He's attracted to jobs that help those less fortunate.

Irdaktin is very supportive of others and will give compliments and terms of endearment very easily. Also, put downs are harsh to him. Not only will Irdaktin not use them, but he will try to stop others from using them. He is genuinely caring and, because of this subtype, very willing to make that verbal. Personal needs of safety and protecting the psyche have been put aside. He is more daring in reaching out to others and very positive.

Dialogue examples: "You did a great job." "You are an awesome person." "I love you." "If you ever need help, I'm here." Internal Dialogue: "I feel good when I'm helpful."

Irdaktin can be helpful and supportive in a relationship. Other characters are attracted to his giving nature, but eventually feel that there may be strings attached, something may be expected in return. He tends to be attracted to Type 4s (The Bohemian) for friends and generally avoids Type 8s (The Boss).

Irdaktin, Master Diplomat Of Biehshah moves psychologically toward an unconditional self-love. Somehow, through the story, he faces who he really is and learns that he is worthy of being loved for just who he is and not what he does. Irdaktin doesn't have to constantly give to be loved by anyone, especially by a protective father figure. There's a very real connection to the relationship with the father figure in this healing process. He either connects with the father figure, a surrogate father figure or discovers that he doesn't need to please anyone at all to be loved.

Der, Diplomat Of Biehshah

Der is Irdaktin's best friend. They kept each other alive on thousands of diplomatic missions. Biehshah cannot travel alone without dying. Most who travel off Biehshah carry about 20 sleeping partners with them. And, most Biehshah consider travel with only one partner to be insanely risky. Der, like Irdaktin, is a very brave man.

Der has been going on diplomatic missions since they learned how to be one, even before they changed their species from Bisillipian to Biehshah and followed Kirnonos to a new world. Few Bisillipians dared leave Bisillipia, and Biehshah was their first successful colony. Very successful, thanks to Irdatkin and Der and hundreds of signed treaties. Their success inspired a few diplomats on Bisillipia and Biehshah.

Hardly anyone wants to leave Biehshah for any reason. Especially from strict Leheren, which has the highest mortality of any prov of Biehshah. One diplomat died on a mission because the weather changed.

Biehshah love to visit the beautiful prov of Jujujean, where they can engage in 'naughty entertainments' like learning the Zheien's favorite ball game, Oae Pae. Or watching foreign vids on subjects like mining techniques, just to see how people do that, not because they have any intention of visiting a mine. And, there is no one from their prov to get a lawyer and quote 27 laws they broke doing this.

I will add more at a later time. I need to write something about Ophelia, who's not in the story yet. Their Biehshah Colony is walking distance from Earth Of Ye~, which will have over 100 Earthans in it by the time Kia arrives there.
