Day 5: Mystery/Autumn
Number 1; Khun Aguero Agnis and the autumn break vacation.
Well, that might be a little dramatic and in desperate need of context. It all started when Endorsi suggested Argentina as the group's destination for their autumn break. It could have ended if the majority of their group-meaning everyone except Aguero-hadn't immediately loved the idea or even if they had questioned Aguero's unwillingness more. Alas, neither of those happened.
"It's going to be so much fun!" Shibisu exclaimed, clapping his hands loudly. Both Endorsi and Rak cheered as well, making a small toast to Argentina. Even Hatz seemed excited about their trip and if Bam wasn't busy being Aguero's personal koala bear, he would be too.
"It's a big place," Aguero said with a sigh, putting down his cup of coffee, "we should choose a quiet village or something. You know, to have the chance to explore more."
"Earrings is right."
"Why are you looking at me?" Endorsi asked, "I wasn't going to argue."
Hatz simply hummed making Endorsi throw a biscuit at him. Rak tried to catch but only managed to hit his head on the table. Aguero stiffled a laugh making Bam lift his head from his boyfriend's shoulder that he used as a pillow. "Hey, don't you have some family in Argentina?"
"No," Aguero replied a bit too quickly, "just one or two seventh cousins."
Really, the signs were there.
.
"Wait, wait," Shibisu told Rak before he could open the room's door, "are you both decent?"
In response, the door immediately opened causing both him and Rak to almost fall. Aguero looked at the rest of the group unamused, Bam's head peeking up from behind him. "We literally checked in five minutes ago."
"That hasn't stopped you before." Endorsi cut in.
"Please, I'm not a teen." she glanced at Bam who, although he wasn't a teen, always acted like it in this section. But because he was also a little manipulator her a pitiful look that made Aguero cross his hands, ready to jump in his boyfriend's defense.
"We're going to grab lunch in some restaurant En has found." Hatz told them, "Are you coming?"
"Yeah sure!" Bam said jumping from the bed.
"I don't think I will, I'm feeling exhausted." Aguero said. A weird thing to say considering everyone knew that he could go without sleeping for three days-not while maintaining all of his sanity but he had never been entirely sane to begin with-and had spent most of the flight sleeping.
"I'll get you something to eat, okay?" Bam said and kissed his forehead, "If you feel unwell, call me immediately."
"Yeah, of course."
.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but the food is great." -Endorsi gasped- "Don't look at me like that, you have the weirdest food taste."
"We should have ordered one more banana dish." Rak noted. As the others laughed, Shibisu caught a glimpse of something blue outside. Squinting his eyes, he swore he could see Aguero leaving the cafe across the street.
"You should call the Khun," he said and continued looking at the blue haired man standing at the other side of the cafe, "check he's still living."
"I don't want to wake him up."
"It's been two hours, he will have to wake up either way." Hatz said. Bam sighed and dialed the number, hoping he wouldn't disturb his boyfriend.
"Hey, you weren't sleeping, were you?" While Bam talked on the phone, Shibisu watched the man outside also speaking on the phone with someone. He continued watching curiously, a gut feeling telling him that something was weird.
.
Endorsi is a girl of many talents. All of her cousins, minus Bam who was an annoyingly smitten sweetheart, would argue that none of the traits she had in mind were talents but what did they know? So, to return to the previous point, Endorsi had many talents. One of which was her passionate interest for the lives of those around her.
Because of that she couldn't possibly not notice all the things that were wrong about Khun.
"Why are you carrying the crocodile?" Khun asked Bam who held an asleep–or maybe simply unconscious–Rak bridal style. Bam could only shrug in response while making his way towards the small couch-bed to put Rak on. Shibisu and Hatz followed seconds after, even though their own room was only two rooms away, looked equally exhausted and slightly tipsy. Endorsi was the last one to enter, smile on her face, a big paper bag in hand.
"We brought you food but you missed on the free drinks!"
"Thanks. I'm choosing to believe the alcohol is to blame for," –he gestured around him– "this."
Endorsi, being interested in her friends' lives while also being ridiculously observant, stood near the door getting a better view of the room. Hatz and Shibisu had began telling Khun about their (mis)adventures while he struggled to help Bam free himself from Rak's grasp. Seeing how tightly the gator held on, he was most likely dreaming of food.
Endorsi noted that Khun looked very much awake despite both telling Bam that he had taken a small 20 minute nap and the lack of coffee mugs. She also noted a suspicious chocolate box on top of a chair, partly hidden by the table. Of course, just a chocolate box wasn't exactly weird, but Endorsi knew the brand was quite expensive and only available in Argentina. Before she could continue with her trail of thought, someone knocked on the door.
Endorsi opened and found someone from the hotel staff, an unnatural big smile on their faces. "Mister Khun?", he called and Aguero rushed towards them. The man extended his hand and gave him a bottle of champagne along with a bottle of ice.
"Um, I didn't order anything."
"It's on the house, sir. We're thrilled to have you here."
Khun glanced at Endorsi, looking a little pale, before thanking the man and closing the door.
"Do you think they'll give us something as well?"
"Single rooms?"
"Hatz!"
Still, Endorsi had a feeling they wouldn't be getting any more free stuff.
.
Bam woke up feeling cold. That, itself, wasn't unusual because Aguero always stole the sheets and blankets but then Bam would use him as a living heater. So because Bam was cold, Aguero must have woken up at least twenty minutes before. As expected, his eyes opened to the sight of his half-dressed boyfriend straightening his hair with more force than needed.
"Good morning," he whispered and burried his face on the pillow, "what time is it?"
"Half past ten," Aguero told him with a smile, "Isu said we'll be going out for lunch so I figured you could sleep as long as you like."
"I love you."
Aguero only smiled and walked to the counter, retrieving some stuff, before returning at Bam's side. "I got you breakfast and tea."
"I'm going to marry you," Bam replied as he took the food and drink. Aguero gave him a quick kiss and continued doing his hair. "Isn't it a little early to be getting ready?"
The question seemed to startle Aguero, his smile dropping for a milisecond. He quickly recovered. "I'm going to the pharmacy, I forgot my vitamins at home."
Considering the fact that Aguero always made long lists that he triple checked when travelling that seemed unlikely. Besides, taking more time to appreciate his boyfriend's appearance, Bam thought he looked a bit overdressed for going to the pharmacy. "Do you want me to come with you?"
"No," Aguero replied in a hurry, "I mean, you should rest. I won't be long."
Bam, of course, didn't have time to protest as Aguero's phone began ringing. His boyfriend spared a single glance at the phone before sprinting outside leaving Bam blinking, still trying to make sense of the conversation. After a few seconds he noticed a vitamin bottle on the nightstand.
.
The most important piece to the Aguero crisis came during Rak's and Shibisu's trip to get food.
"We've been here for two days and the blue turtle keeps on avoiding us," well that wasn't entirely true but Aguero had skipped a lot of their outtings without giving a good reason as to why. And because their group had always been tight, his absense had not only been noted but had also costed them greatly. Mostly because Bam was miserable. "we should let him starve."
"We can't let him sta--," Shibisu stopped dead on his tracks stopping Rak as well. He pointed at the end of the road at a jewellery store where a couple was exiting. No, not a couple, simply a man with a girl wrapped around his arm, both of them giggling. "Is that Khun?"
.
The group, minus Khun, gathered on Endorsi's room. The same problem was on everyone's mind–at least at its base–but their theories were wildly different.
"I think it's time we address the elephant on the room," Endorsi began, "the Khun situation has gotten out of control and after some research I've come to a sad conclusion." –Shibisu patted Bam's back as if to comfort him– "Khun's in the mafia."
A number of "what's" echoed along with a "whatever you drank, I want it". Endorsi huffed. "Think about it. Him skipping every time we tell him to go out. The gifts from the hotel."
"En, I'm saying this with love, this is the most stupid explanation I've ever heard." Hatz told her.
"Guys the real reason Aguero is avoiding is because," Bam took a long breath, "I think he wants to break up with me."
"Nevermind, this is worse."
"Black turtle is only half-right. He wants to break up with all of us."
"No, Bam is probably correct." Shibisu told the group, "Rak and I saw him with some girl earlier today when he said he would stay home and rest."
"It was his new potential best friend."
"Rak--"
"How dare he?" Endorsi asked, enraged. Bam was sitting next to her unable to speak. Had Aguero truly moved on so fast? Or had he already been seeing this girl before coming here? He didn't know which answer he hated more. "I'm going to beat his ass."
.
The truth behind this great mystery is actually a lot more simple and depressing.
"Earrings, huh?" Khun Maschenny, member of Argentina's favourite band The Khunning, daughter of multibillionaire Khun Eduan and sadly Aguero's older sister, said as she opened the box. She looked fairly unimpressed at the gift but Aguero was certain she was bluffing. "Trying to buy me off already?"
"Not you, just your best behavior." Aguero explained. Kiseia and Ran tried to hide their laughter but failed. Normally a behavior like this, that lacked elegance, would not be fitting for such an expensive restaurant but since the Khuns had more money than everyone else in the restaurant combined, no one paid them any attention.
"Why am I the problem? Maria is already dreaming of fun activities to do with your future husband," even if Aguero hadn't spoken at any point about marriage, "and Ran bites people."
"I was six."
"And what are you now? Seven?"
"Children, please." Marco told them. At times like that, Marco was Aguero's favourite. He turned towards his brother, "Though we were sad about you keeping us a secret from your friends and," he paused, "boyfriend for so long, we're happy to meet them now and we promise we'll be on our best behavior."–Aguero sighed in relief– "Can't promise much about dad though so if you're thinking about becoming serious with this guy, maybe skip meeting the parents."
"Normally I would have skipped the meeting everyone." –Hachuling threw him a piece of bread– "It's because I'm very serious about Bam that I want to introduce you to him. And I want it to go well."
"Ew you're in love."
"Kiseia, stop bullying your brother." Maria said sterny as she wrapped an arm around Aguero. Maria, though he would deny it in front of others, was actually his favourite–though Ran was a close second–and the one who he had recruited in order to break down the news to the others. Of course, keeping his family a secret wasn't the best option but with how eccentric and famous they were, Aguero didn't want to drive neither Bam nor his friends away. "If he likes the boy, I trust him to be someone amazing."
Aguero had taken this as a sign to start rambling about his boyfriend–to new people! Not Yura who was patiently listening to him while also trying to show that her girlfriend was better and not his usual group who'd say 'you're in love, we get it'–but a commotion at the entrance of the restaurant stopped him. He saw one of the staff trying to fight off a gator. No, that wasn't any gator, that was–
"They really let anyone in these days," Maschenny noted disapprovingly. Aguero swallowed and hurried away, telling them he needed to go to the bathroom. Instead, he ran towards the commotion.
"Mister Khun!", the restaurant worker said, trying to somehow hide his friends from his view, "we are very sorry for the disturbance, dessert and wine of your choice will be on us."
Aguero smiled politely but didn't answer. Instead he focused his attention towards his friends. "What are you doing here?"
"Endorsi has a tracker on you." –Endorsi kicked Bam's leg– "Okay, Snapchat has a tracker on you. Endorsi is just aware of it."
"You said you'd be sleeping." Shibisu accused him. "Not dining."
"You wouldn't even bring back dessert," Rak added.
"This i‐-"
"We are not here for your excuses you lying weasel!"
"Endorsi, behave."
"Fine but I believe Bam should break his leg."
Despite the majority nodding in agreement, Bam and Khun, themselves, were very vocal about their oppositions. "Ague‐-," Bam stopped himself, "Khun. We have been dating for more than a year so," his voice cracked a bit, "if you wanted to see someone else, I'd expect you to break up with me first."
"Break up?" Aguero echoed. He gave a side glance to the worker beside him. "Bam, I," he took his hand, "this is all a big misunderstanding I'm sure. Can we go outside?"
"Please do." The worker told them. "I do love the drama of it but the other customers might complain."
The group mumbled some apologies and stepped outside. Aguero took a deep breath. "I know my behavior has been weird."
"Very weird."
"Endorsi."
"Fine."
"As I was saying, my behavior has been weird because I've been lying to you." He lowered his gaze, "But it has nothing to do with our relationship."
"But we saw you with some black haired girl?"
"I'm getting to that," Aguero explained, still holding on to Bam's hand, "the reason I didn't want to come with you was because I didn't want you finding out about my family."
Hatz blinked. "I can't believe Endorsi was right."
"My family is rich. And well-known. And the hair are sort of a trademark. I was bound to get recognised sooner or later," he paused, "so I figured, unless I wanted my dad tracking me down, I should introduce you first. I've spent the last days secretly making preparations and the girl," he gestured at Shibisu and Rak, "was my sister with a very expensive wig."
"Preparations?"
"They don't really get along with other people," or with each other, "I didn't want them to scare you away or change the way you think of me."
"You really were worried about that?" Bam asked, a soft smile on his lips as he reached for Aguero's other hand, "Nothing could change the way I see you. The way we all see you."
Aguero smiled and gave him a soft kiss. "No take-backs."
"Hate to ruin the moment but when you say rich--"
"Mr. Khun!" The worker from before came running towards them, "The table for your friends is ready."
Aguero sighed. "Who?"
"Miss Maschenny, sir. She has also requested to see both you and your boyfriend." He took out a small silver tray, "Miss Maria also told me to secretly give this to you as an armor."
Notes:
I think this was my least favourite prompt. A pain to write. If you're quiet enough you can hear me crying as I publish it. Hopefully though, since my ideas for day 6 and 7 are more fleshed out, I won't be crying tears of pain again.
