Act. 4 Pineapple Man Saw It All

Doug's POV

I held onto Y/N as she winced, holding onto her head.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," she waved, brushing me off as she went to stand.

Before I could say anything, she fell to her knees, clutching onto the ground beside her.

A midnight attack.

I just needed to ask her one thing before I could know for sure.

"Mom, what's your name?" I bent down beside her.

"My name?" She spoke in a daze, looking at me confusedly. "Who are you?" She reached to touch my face as I stare at her. "I'm pineapple. Yay, pineapples!" She cheered as she winced, grabbing onto her tags through her shirt.

She must be getting the attack since she just fought with her tags and gave her keys to me.

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath before bringing my elbow down on the back of her head, knocking her out. As she fell forward, I bent my knees in front of her, catching her in my arms. Pulling her up, I lifted her onto my back, grateful that she was barely any taller than me.

Hauling her off to the side, I called out to big mama, not turning around to face her.

"It's another midnight's attack," I shouted. "I'll be taking mom to a room so she can recover, this one is by far the hardest one that's hit her."

Going up the stairs, I felt Y/N start to pull on my shirt, playing with the chain on the back of my neck.

"Ya know," she slurred. "That guy looked prettyyyyyy familiarrr," she stretched out her words as I pushed a door open with my foot, walking in to lay her on the bed.

Turning my head sharply, I felt someone's presence near us. Shaking my head, I was probably being paranoid, but I kept it in my mind in case something happened, my hand on my knife.

As I laid Y/N down, I heard someone enter the room. Going to turn around to see who it was, Y/N's legs wrapped around me and pulled me down, causing my to fall forward right on top of her. Before our heads could knock together, I placed my hands above her shoulders on the bed.

"Phew," I sighed, glad that we were safe from one of us getting a bloody nose.

"Doug, were you trying to leave me?" She whined, placing her hand behind my neck and pulling me forward into her embrace.

As she rubbed her cheek against mine, I tried to get her to unwrap herself from me.

"Why do you always do this?" I hissed, turning her over to her side as I rubbed my neck, free from her hold.

"Pineapple man gave this to me," she pointed to the scar that ran over her torso.

Twitching my eye, I sighed. She would always talk of some fruit guy from her past. I didn't understand what she meant, but I didn't pry her about it. She would constantly mumble about her past, so I didn't give it much mind.

"Pineapple man!" She said, sitting up to point at a man in the doorway.

As she sat up, she knocked me over, stumbling back.

"My baby," she cried, reaching out to pull me back into her arms.

Before I could move away, she had grabbed me and held me close. Trying to push her off, I realized someone was still in the room. Turning my head to see the man, I noticed his gaze was over me.

"Y/N!" I yelled, trying to move away.

"Aww, it's okay baby," she cooed, rubbing our cheeks together again. "Nothing weird about it," she grinned as she found nothing strange in the situation.

I turned to face the man again, ready to apologize for what was happening.

"Look, I'm sorry about all this, it's not what it looks like. If you're here to see Y/N, she uh- isn't in the best of minds at the moment so if you cou-"

"OOOH, LOOOKIEEE!" Y/N pulled onto my cheeks again. "He's a tag," she pointed to the man who indeed, did have a tag hung from his neck. "Pineapple man is a twilight," she clapped her hands.

Wait, he was wearing tags.

The tags, that's what causes her attacks so why haven't I taken them off yet?

That'll solve the problem and take away the pain she's enduring right now.

"Stay still," I hissed, pushing her away as I reached for the chain.

Snapping open the chain, I pulled it off her neck, the tags swinging in the air.

"Your keys, your keys," I muttered, dropping the tags onto the bed beside her.

Fumbling through my pockets, I pulled the chain that held her keys on it and fastened it around her neck, letting her keys fall flat onto her chest.

As her keys brought down her burning temperature, she closed her eyes, talking quietly again.

"Doug," she sighed, pulling me close.

"What? Do you need something?" I made an attempt to push myself away once again.

I thought she'd start blabbering nonsense again so I froze abruptly at what she breathed out, confusion consuming me.

"I miss Nic Nic."

My sister just texted me at two in the morning and I didn't reply to her because I want her to study and she says I'm not responsible pLeASe
