“So you doubt that it is not a normal death. But there were no signs of injury on her body,” Austin came forward, pen and paper in his hand.

“To say the truth, the police never found an injury. But while undressing her for her last rites, I found some small puncture wound on the lateral chest wall. I never reported to the police because it could be just one of her medications. She takes a hell lot of them. So I don’t know,” he slumped on a chair and motioned them to seat.

“What medications?”

Everyone glared at Alyssa.

“Hey, I like to know more about things,” she retorted.

“My wife used to take insulin. She had juvenile diabetes,” he said.

“Insulin is administered subcutaneously, and in regions like lower abdomen and thighs. Never on the lateral wall of the chest, Sir. Are you sure that she has not been poisoned?” said Michael.

He had been silent for a long time and was busy observing each and every details of the surroundings. The house itself and all the furniture screamed money.

“At least the post mortem reports point to the contrary,” he said, “I didn’t know of any other medications. You can call me Alexei. I am like an elder brother to you all.”

“What exactly happened?”

“I heard her scream,” said Alexei in reply to Nathan, closing his eyes, trying to ward off the painful memories, “I rushed to her bedroom to see her on the floor. She screamed of chest pain, radiating to her arms, she was sweating profusely and I didn’t know what to do. She collapsed before the ambulance arrived.”

There was a stunned silence in the room.

“Did you find anything abnormal? The room was locked,” asked Austin.

“No,” came the reply. “The glass doors to the patio were open. I don’t know whether someone opened it or if it was just opened by her.”

“A question,” interrupted Linda, “Why were you in the other room by the way? Didn’t you …umm… stay with your wife at night?”

Linda was obviously uncomfortable to ask so personal a question.

Alexei looked away, “We had a fight a few days ago. Things weren’t going right between us. So she decided to not let me enter her room.”

“Then,” chimed in Alyssa, “You are the primary suspect.”

“Yeah,” Alexei gave a dry smile, “I am I guess. The police are very content in coming to the obvious conclusion. But I loved her in spite of everything. Our fight was due to …uh”

He stopped and looked at them, “You’re teens. Should I tell that to you?”

“Look, we don’t want to pry, but it may assure us that you have nothing to do with the murder,” explained group leader, Michael.

“Fine,” he raised his hands in mock surrender, “My wife was not being able to have kids. I suggested her to go for IVF and maybe surrogate if she is unable to conceive. But she wasn’t ready to do that and we fought. I don’t know if this makes me eligible to be the murderer.”

“I can truly understand,” Alyssa chirped.

“Freak,” Nathan commented and immediately screamed on getting a hit by Alyssa’s shoes.

“Don’t dare,” she glared at Nathan.

“If it isn’t too much, can we just see her room,” Michael barged in to prevent further quarrels.
