Angel Kiss

{Guardian Angel! Keith X Reader}

(Modern AU)

My eyes rapidly fluttered open and closed, I was blinded by an excruciating bright light that could've given me a migraine. I shielded my eyes with my hand and looked around, it was endless miles of nothing, just pure white. Unless I was in one if those rooms in an asylum, I wouldn't be surprised. I merely smiled at that thought, I had a strange sense of humor.

I looked all around and stood up from my sitting position. I called out, but no reply, just a faint echo of my voice. I sighed softly and plopped down on the floor again, crossing my legs. Where was I? Was I dreaming? It hardly felt like one. I slapped myself in the face to see if I endured any pain.

Smack

The expected stinging sensation on my cheek didn't happen, I tugged at my hair and even pinched myself but I was immune to the pain.

     This was a weird dream...

I looked at my hands and saw them emitting a soft hue of gold, my skin was vibrant and nearly glowing. Great, I was a human glowstick. I looked down and realised I was wearing some kind of white gown thing, and I was barefoot. Double Great.

I leaned my head back and furrowed my brows.

"Well... now what?" I muttered quietly to myself.

Someone cleared their throat behind me, making me spring up on my feet and let out a yelp.

I whipped my head around to see who had made the noise, my eyes widening slightly when I was met with a guy around my age, maybe a bit older.

He had a bored expression on his face, his stormy eyes gazing at me uninterested while he held a scroll in one hand, and a quill in the other. I saw feathers sprouting from his back and grazing the floor ever so slightly.

His midnight locks stood out of his pale skin, making his appearance seem more angelic, no pun intended. His being glowed just like mine, except his gave off less energy.

"Hello _________, My name is Keith your Guardian Angel." His voice matched his expression perfectly, bored and tone dead. Though the low octaves of his voice was very tranquil, making my nerves relax.

"Guardian Angel? Aren't you supposed to have a little harp and small cupid babies floating around you? And you seem too edgy for an Angel." I crossed my arms, smirking and he frowned.

"Listen I just need you to answer a questio-"

"Wait, Wait, Wait. If you know my name can you read my mind? Does everyone have a Guardian Angel? When we're you assigned to be mine?"

"No I can't read your mind, Yes everyone has a Guardian Angel, and I was assigned to watch over you when you were first born." Keith sighed and moved his dark hair out of his eyes, meeting my gaze once more. I was going to open my mouth once more until he spoke up.

"You probably are wondering where you're at, well your soul is in the realm that lays inbetween life and death. Your mortal body is being rushed to the hospital." He spoke monotonously and scribbled down on the scroll, his eyes casted down.

"How do I get out of here? It's really boring." I asked and he stopped writing, looking back up at me.

"Well you have two options." He brushed a strand of his dark hair out of his face. "You can go back to Earth and live out the rest of your mortal life, or you can go to the afterlife become an angel and be assigned to a mortal as their guardian." So much was going through my head, I had to ask him so many questions. I was having such a hard time understanding the situation.

"How did I die? Aren't you supposed to protect me?" I asked and looked up at him curiously, he averted his gaze to the side and pulled the scroll up to his face, hiding the redness of his cheeks.

"You were hit by a drunk driver when you were crossing the street, I told you in your conscious to do a double take on the road but did you listen? Obviously not since we're here right now."

"So that's why people have gut feelings?" It all made sense now, our gut feelings/instincts were our angels speaking to us.

"You ask way too many questions."

       "I'm a curious person."

       "Don't you know the saying-"

"Curiosity killed the cat? Yeah I know."

Keith lowered the scroll from his hidden face to facepalm, I laughed at his misfortune of dealing with me.

"We're getting off topic. So what do you wish to do? Descend to the afterlife? Or continue the rest of your life?" He asked while giving me a serious expression. I had to admit he was very handsome.

"I'll live the rest of my life." I answered without hesitation,  he nodded and the scroll from his hand dissipated. He walked up to me and grabbed my hand, I looked at him questioningly.

"Wait, Wait, Wait. What era did you live in before you died?"

      "1970s..."

     "So that explains the mullet..."

He let out a deep chuckle and raised my hand to his lips, he stole a brief glance at me before whispering something and kissing my hand, everything turned black.

My head was throbbing in pain while my body was stiff in soreness. Many small tubes and IVs were stuck into my arms and an oxygen mask was on my face.

The blinding hospital lights made me squint and groan out, a faint beeping of the heart monitor drowned out the ringing in my ears.

"__________! Oh thank the Gods you're okay!"

I winced at the loud voice, someone was squeezing my hand tightly. I slurred slightly and told whoever was talking to 'shut up' or 'I'm trying to sleep'. Something between the two.

I turned my head to whoever spoke to me and I recognized the messy chestnut hair and tan skin. Their detail of their face was smudged due to my head being scrambled and disoriented. My mind was fuzzy and in a haze as I looked around, my eyes adjusting to the bluriness.

I noticed more people that must've been my friends.

Pidge.

Hunk.

Shiro.

I groaned out as another wave of pain shot through my skull, it felt like a hangover but not only was my head aching, but my whole body too.

"___________ do you remember what happened?" I focused on whoever was clutching my hand so tightly, then I remembered... Lance.

Without thinking I mustered out. "We went to the bar and we got shitfaced..."

I heard laughter in the room and I pulled the covers over my head, I was too tired for this.

"I think we should let her rest."

A masculine voice spoke up, which was followed by the sound of footsteps walking out the door and the lights going out.

I closed my eyes and I saw him.

The guy I saw in my dream. Was it even considered a dream? It all felt so real.

Those violet eyes, deep voice, Mullet.

My brain raked for his image, But everything was so discombobulated.

"What was his name? Kyle? Koda? I know it started with a K..." I whispered to myself, it was so hard to think straight when your whole body was going to give out on exhaustion and your mind was all fuzzy from the lack of sleep.

  Keith.

"Keith!" The sudden outburst made me rub my head and regret yelling out his name.

Then I thought back to the words he told me before I ended up here.

          "I hope we'll meet again."

I gasped and went to look at my hand, the place he kissed me.

There on my {S/C} hand, was an angel kiss.

I smiled softly and felt my eyes droop, begging for rest. I gave in and let my head snuggle into the pillow. The sweet embrace of slumber finally overcoming me.
