Prologue

"B-Barry!" I shouted, unable to breathe as the impact of the fall nearly sucked all the air from my lungs. I just couldn't quite catch my breath. I examined my surroundings, only to feel my heart beat quicker which I wasn't sure how that was possible as it felt like it were already beating a million beats per minute.

My eyes landed on something red, unmoving in the corner. It was so hard to see from the lack of light, but I managed to make out what it was.

Who it was.

"Oh my God, Barry!" I shouted again, as I crawled painfully over to his side. My right leg felt sore, and my back was aching I could hardly move.

But I needed to be beside him.

I wrapped my arms around him, "Are you okay?" I asked, "Can you hear me?" I ripped his mask off of him, and he began to cough heavily as if he too found it difficult to breathe.

I wanted to cry, but couldn't quite find the spare tears to do so, "It's alright." I said, though it were clearly a lie. We were going to die here, that was obviously true. "It's alright." I said again, "I will keep you safe this time. It's my turn."
