8|Gone.
(Unedited)
WARNING: THIS CHAPTER IS SAD. 😭
Sophie had grabbed Keefe and jumped off the ledge. She teleported to the only safe spot she could think of: Alluveterre.
Sophie helped Keefe limp over to the exact bed that used to be his. She pulled back to study him. The dark veins on his chest were slowly spreading, and it wouldn't be long before the shadow flux reached his heart, causing instant death. Sophie felt a wet tear slip down her cheek.
She needed to be strong. For his sake.
"I'm not dead yet Foster, what are you crying about?"
Sophie sat on the bed next to him. "How can you joke around right now Keefe?" Her face was wet with tears. She couldn't lose him. Not after she lost everyone else.
Everyone was gone. Everyone. Alvar had killed Fitz, Dex had died in an "accident", and even though Biana had vanished, Sophie knew she was dead. She didn't want to think about how. Tam had been poisoned. And poor, sweet, Lihn? She had been brutally murdered right before her eyes.
But still, Sophie couldn't give up. She was made for this. She was made to save the world.
But she had failed.
Keefe was all she had left.
"Hey, Sophie?" Sophie laid down next to him, surprised at the use of her first name.
"Yeah?"
"Did I do good? In life?" He asked her, his voice thick with emotion.
"Of course Keefe,"
"I didn't mess everything up?" His voice cracked.
"No! Why would you say that?" She could see the tears rolling down his face now.
"Do you think." Keefe paused, lost in thought, "That it was supposed to end like this? Calla always said that good nature always wins in the end. Do you think that the bad had to win first, so the good could overcome later?"
"W-what?" Sophie buried her face in his shoulder, wishing that this wasn't reality.
"Or do you think I was the bad guy?"
"No, Keefe. I would never," She took his face in her hands, "I would never,"
He gave her a smile. A real smile, not a smirk, but a smile. So, she couldn't help but laugh. She must've looked weird: a crying laughing mess.
"Promise me, Keefe," She stared into his deep ice blue eyes, "Promise me you'll never stop being you."
"Only if you promise me you won't hate me,"
"Deal."
Sophie estimated they had one minute until the shadow flux took his life. She placed her head on his shoulder repeating her promise in her head over and over. After the fifthteenth promise, Keefe spoke.
"I love you, Sophie,"
Sophie thought about all their time together, riding on Silveny to Mt. Everest, Their window slumber parties here in Alluveterre, all the times they faced the neverseen, he was even there when the grief of their friends almost broke her.
"I love you too, Keefe," She whispered.
But it was too late.
He was gone.

Please don't sue me for killing Keefe! If you cried, please vote and comment! Thank you for reading and hopefully the next plot twist is happier!
So the song "Death bed" (Or coffee for your head) just went along with this so well. The lyric video is above. You have to really pay attention to the lyrics though.
Disclaimer: The song is NOT mine. (obviously)
