She was done for. It was over. Sophie was cornered. The Neverseen had her, and this time: There was no escaping.

Her friends laid before her. On the concrete floor, their lives already taken.

"It's your turn, Sophie. You can join them." Lady Gisela whispered in her ear.

"No," Sophie wouldn't give up. Her abilities were taken, her body tied up, melder pressed to her head, but she wouldn't give up.

"Well, I'm a afraid that's not your choice," Lady gisela pulled the trigger, and the world fell into darkness.

Sophie jolted up with a start. She rubbed her aching head. And stopped. There was something attached to it. She peered at her hand closer. It was small.

"Sophie!" An older woman with brunette curls and green eyes rushed to hug her, with a similar looking man behind her. It was her human parents. "Oh my gosh, Sophie you scared us! You've been in a coma for weeks! You're lucky Mr. Forkle found you!"

Sophie rubbed her head and looked around. Mr. Forkle was awkwardly standing in the corner. She rushed out of the bed and ran to him. "Mr. Forkle! Where are they! My friends! Keefe, and Biana, and Dex, and Fitz, and Lihn, and Tam! Are they alive?!"

Her parents were taken aback by her sudden outburst, and Sophie was taken aback by her young voice. Mr. Forkle gave her a quizzical look.

Could it really all have been just a dream?

Had her friends never existed?
