Chapter 20 - Brant

Brant raised the crystal into the air and vanished into a flurry of sparkles. He was going to a Neverseen hideout to pick up some papers he had left behind. Little did he know, he was going to be getting a lot more than that...

He landed in the grass firmly and gazed around. Well, clearly there had been quite a few big changes since he had left. The air around him was thick and hazy, as smoke covered it, wrapping around it like a veil. He looked up and found a fog-like substance enveloping the sky, which he assumed was also smoke. He frowned, his paranoia getting the best of him.

Brant pulled his eyes away from the sky above and focused on the hideout itself. Ash littered the ground and speckled the walls. More smoke flooded out of the door, which was slightly ajar. He stepped over to it and felt the crunch of cinders as he walked. Brant grasped the handle of the door and wrenched it open. What he found lying on the other side was chaos. Pure chaos.

There was fire everywhere. Covering the floor, creeping up the walls, eating up all the furniture. Brant started sweating immediately and it wasn't just because of the heat. But because he didn't know how to stop it. Why? Because it was Everblaze. The practically unstoppable, bright yellow, fire that only the best pyrokinetics were able to create. And even then, most of them weren't able to control it. Brant certainly couldn't, that was for sure.

He stepped out of the doorway, unable to handle all the pressure and flames, even though he was a pyrokinetic himself.

He pulled the hood of his Neverseen cloak onto his head. He gathered the folds of the black cape and pulled it over his mouth and nose, protecting them from the singed, burning smell. Then he entered the room once more.

This time, he spotted one more addition to the fire and flames; a figure, leaning against the far wall with his back turned to Brant.

Blond hair stuck up on the person's head and he was wearing a cloak of his own.

Brant took an uneasy step instead, careful to veer away from the blazing firestorm. The figure stirred. And then turned around. The first thing Brant saw was the man's eyes. A lovely shade of blue, like the sky on a clear, sunny day. Then he blinked and the eyes of the man changed. They were still the same shade of blue, but it was almost as though a layer had been placed upon it. A layer filled with rage, pain, agony, so many emotions, all bundled up into one space. And it showed in his face. The wrinkles of time and the deep shadows under his eyes. His eyes clouded and then he spoke, "Why hello there, Brant."

A/N: YAYYY! A cliffhanger, but it's not... Cuz if you read the previous chapter then you would know who the dude is lol. Sry for the short chapter but I was mainly focused on releasing the chapter, since I kept forgetting to post it and stuff. Also because of the fact that I LITERALLY HAVEN'T PUBLISHED A FREAKING STORY SINCE MAY OR SOMETHINGGGG? So yeh, that's why it's a realllyyy short chapter! But hope you enjoyed anyway :D Byeeee
