Marty
Thanks to @heeyitsm for this idea! And putting me out of my "no idea" stage...
"I so wish I could live here! I mean, you have such a beautiful room! All the petals, it's just so...." Biana trailed off, eyes staring off into space. The five friends were gathered at Havenfield in Sophie's room for the Aurenflare later that night. Sophie almost said how Biana's room was just as beautiful as hers, if not more, before Keefe interrupted.
"Hello? Anybody home?" he asked, knocking on Biana's head. She giggled in response.
"I agree with Biana. Your house is so...big. And you're the only one. No other siblings to bother you. I would kill for that." Dex said, obviously envious.
"Well, being the only one isn't exactly a good thing all the time. There is a reason why I go over to Everglen so often." Sophie stated. She didn't exactly hate being the only one there, but she sure did miss Amy, and especially Marty.
"Really? I thought it was for Wonderboy." Keefe snickered.
"What?" Fitz cried, alarmed. Keefe, Dex, and Biana just laughed. Sophie felt her face heat up.
"Anyway," Fitz said, breaking the awkward situation, "I think it's cool that you have all the animals that you guys help." He grinned, and Sophie got lost in his teal eyes. She also felt her stomach do the weird fluttery thing. Dex just snorted.
"Please, Fitz. You wouldn't like it if you were the one she dragged into helping her cleaning all of them as punishment. It SUCKS! I helped her clean the Verdi's teeth once! The smell stayed for a week! The triplets had a party over it!" Keefe just got a weird glint in his eyes.
"Well..." Fitz started, but stopped when a bright light flashed outside.
"Woah!" Sophie cried, standing up so hard her chair from her desk she was sitting on flew out from behind her.
"Double woah." Keefe added his face lit up with excitement. "Let's go check it out."
They all ran downstairs, Sophie tripping down the last few steps.
"Haven't you tested gravity enough Foster?" Keefe asked, before laughing hysterically. Sophie just blushed, remembering the time Biana talked her into wearing a shirt "made for her" to go visit the Forbidden Cities. They visited the Dollar Store, and things just went downhill from there. Sophie's head hurt just thinking about it.
"What is that?" Fitz shouted, having ran ahead of everybody to the field, where the source of the light came from.
"Careful, guys. It could be danger-" Sophie started.
"Oh, it's so cute!" Biana gushed, running to Fitz, who was leaning over a small over lump in the grass.
Biana grabbed, and twirled it around, while gushing at it's cuteness. "Oh, Fitz. Look! Isn't it adorable?"
She held it up to Fitz's face, and Fitz just backed away, wrinkling his nose. "I...guess. But what is it? Do you know Sophie?"
Biana held the creature up to Sophie, and Sophie gasped.
"MARTY!" She screamed, shoving past Keefe and Dex to tear it out of Biana's hands. She squeezed and snuggled him, all while chanting "Marty, Marty, Marty, Marty, Oh, Marty, How I've missed you, Mary, Marty, Marty!"
Dex, Fitz, Keefe, and Biana just stared. It wasn't until Dex gently shook Sophie before she looked up, her eyes full of tears.
"Are you okay?" Biana asked, suddenly concerned.
"Yeah. It's just that-that-look, Marty!" Sophie held up the small creature, at loss of words.
"Uh, nice. But what is it?" Dex asked.
"Oh. It's a cat. He was my pet cat in the human world. My one and only friend, Marty." Sophie hugged the cat again, and it purred. Everyone jumped away, terrified.
"What was that?" Fitz shouted, trying not to stay to close to the cat.
"Yeah, will it explode?" Keefe asked, his eyes full of fear but excitement at the thought of an explosion.
Sophie just giggled. "Guys, Marty's perfectly safe. It's called purring. When he purrs, that means he likes whatever I'm doing to him." Dex hesitantly scooted closer, but still kept his distance. Biana just marched up and stroked his neck.
"I think he's cute." She said, as Marty purred, making Keefe and Fitz back away.
"Oh, calm down. He's perfectly safe, Oh aren't you Marty? Honestly, he's a real sweetheart." Sophie handed the cat to Biana and sat down, gesturing for everybody to do the same. They formed a loose circle with Marty prowling around in the middle. Marty went to Keefe, and he sat up straight, no emotion on his usual smug face when Marty started to rub against his leg.
Fitz, Dex, and Biana laughed, seeing his discomfort. Sophie looked at Marty. She really missed her old life, and Marty was something from that life, that made her happy.
"Well, it's getting late. We have to start preparing for the Aurenflare." She said, scooping Marty up from Biana's lap. Biana groaned. "But I want to stroke Marty some more. He loves me!"
"Later." Sophie promised, walking towards the house. "Now let's go tell Grady and Edaline about our new addition"
Hi! Thanks again to for the idea!
Kinda an abrupt ending, I know, but my mom is making me go to bed early. *groans* You know? The "its-a-school-night-and-its-right-after-Easter-Break" talk...
Anyway, thanks for reading my story!
