Chapter 34

Fitz sat in his personal prison where he, Cheshire, and another siren named Axilya were temporarily staying with him.

He heard hushed voices in the hall outside and with his great hearing, he strained his ears and managed to figure out that one of the goblin guards was planning on moving him to a room where they could study him better.

"Awesome!" Fitz beamed as he told the other sirens about the news. "I can finally get out of this cramped, stinky room!"

Cheshire grumbled and moaned, "Nooooooo! That's not fair! I want to go too!"

Axilya just nodded slightly and went back to sleep. At least she found the cell comfortable.

"I thought we were staying here temporarily?" Cheshire demanded.

Fitz chuckled, "Oh right, about that.... The goblin was saying that you guys might have to stay here until further notice from uh, I don't know, whoever's in charge I guess?"

"WHAT!?!?!?!" Cheshire shrieked. "I'D LIKE TO MEET WHOEVER'S IN CHARGE SO THAT I CAN HAVE A CHAT WITH THEM!"

Then she got up and paced around the room until she shot like a cannon, headfirst, right into the steel door.

Cheshire didn't get hurt though. Sirens weren't made of wimpy, weak material, unlike elves. They were strong, fierce, and agile hunters, made for killing and fighting.

The Siren girl got back up with only one small cut on her forehead, and then she tried again.

And again.

And again.

And AGAIN.

And then Fitz's body started hurting from seeing her get thrown into the wall so many times.

But finally, when Cheshire banged into the wall for at least the millionth time, the door actually swung open.

Except... Cheshire hadn't opened it. The figure standing outside had.

And the person who had opened the door was the last person Fitz wanted to see.

Sophie Foster.
