Chapter 30
Sophie stumbled back as the knife hit her stomach. Keefe screamed as he tried to put pressure on her wound. Chelsea knelt down and gathered some medicine from her bag, struggling and fumbling to pull something out.
And Biana. She was an absolute mess. Tears rolled down her face as she looked at Sophie and then to her brother.
Fitz smiled and tilted his head to his side while he studied Sophie and turned to Biana.
"Oh, how you guys are so predictable!"
Keefe stepped up and tried to punch Fitz using his anger as his guide, but Fitz moved swiftly to the side and judo-flipped him. Biana threw a dagger at Fitz, but he levitated and basically became Spider Man on the ceiling. Biana's dagger hit the stone wall, making a chink noise.
Fitz jumped down to the ground and approached Sophie, who started coughing as the dust and rumble surrounded her. Biana rushed over to her, trying to do what Keefe did, because Keefe was now rubbing his head.
"And to help you--and mostly me--think of this as a small favor from what previous fights you had with the Neverseen."
And with that, Fitz grabbed a small box of burning flames, and grabbed Biana's dagger from the wall.
"I've been waiting to try this." he hissed.
Then with a single slice, his navy blue blood fell into the box of fire and the fire turned a shade of dark blood red. He retrieved the fire and let it run though his hand, before pressing it to Lady Gisela. She let out a bloodcurdling shriek as she twisted and turned in agony and Fitz placed the fire deeper.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Keefe screamed.
Lady Gisela whimpered and gestured to Keefe to come forward.
She opened her throat and said in a crackly, hoarse voice, "Keefe, I n-need to give you s-s-something."
She reached into her cape pocket in slow, sluggish movements as more blood spewed and splattered from her wound. Then, she brought out a gleaming necklace that had an opal set right in the middle. And the opal was carved in the shape of an eye.
The symbol of the Neverseen.
With her last words, Lady Gisela mumbled desperately--so that only her son could hear, "Go t-t-to Candleshade. Set the opal in the middle of the carving on the v-vortinator. The vortinator wi-wi-will spin and bring you to a storage th-th-th-that I used while I was in the N-N-Neverseen... there's a special vial with a substance that can defeat Sirens, take it and use it..."
And with that, she gasped as her stomach lurched and she fell back, her head resting on the cold metal floor.
She was dead.
And Fitz had disappeared.
Again.
