Chapter 15

A/N: So, um, this is going to be in Alden's POV and Fitz's POV, cause I really couldn't decide which one but it will alternate between these two! Just saying! Sooooo hope you enjoy! But I'm just going to warn you; this is going to be an extremely weird chapter! :) KK, CYA!

Fitz dragged Alden to his bedroom to talk about, well, stuff.

Including Chelsea.

And Alvar.

But, there was also one VERY important thing that he had to address, whether he liked it or not.

"Sooo, well, I need to tell you something," Fitz said.

Alden raised his eyebrows but nodded, "Ok, go on."

Fitz cleared his throat, "I umm... threw my Vacker crest into a fire."

Alden blinked.

Then he stumbled backward as though someone was pushing him away from Fitz.

"I'm not sure how to process that information. But. I have tried my best to be a supportive, caring father to you and all I have gotten back is a restless, immature boy."

Fitz turned away.

Alden strained his eyes to try and see what Fitz was doing now.

When he finally got a good view he could see something wet sliding down his son's cheek. It streaked his skin with clear liquid. And the clear liquid was water.

Fitz was crying. Or rather, he was crying. Because now he had gotten ahold of his emotions once again. But, he had also--noticeably--NOT tried to dry the tear stain off of his cheek.

And then it hit Alden.

Fitz didn't enjoy being a Vacker. He didn't appreciate being "the golden boy." He didn't want to have all of that pressure on himself, making him work tirelessly everyday and trying his best to not get angry or upset.

Then, Alden cleared his throat and opened his mouth to reveal a hoarse voice, "I...didn't know you felt this way Fitz. I apologize for not being there when you needed me and for not understanding your situation. Do... do you want to talk about it? I understand if you say no."

Fitz nodded. A slight movement of his head. But that was enough for Alden.

Alden placed his hand on his son's shoulder and that urged Fitz to tell his father everything. To spill all the secrets and truths. To let all of the pain and misery flow down from his weary soul and pass onto Alden.

And so he did.

But, he didn't want to aggravate Alden *too* much so he settled with just all of the truths and secrets.

For now, at least. When the time came for more, he would give in and let it roll of his back.

Fitz opened his mouth, "I don't want to be a Vacker. I don't, well, really like it anymore," he shifted his position so that Alden's hand wasn't resting directly on Fitz's shoulder. "I always knew, since I was a kid, that there was something wrong about everything. About me, about life, and about us. I don't mean to offend you or anything like that," he hurriedly added as Alden grimaced, but suppressed it as quick as it had come. "But, I knew no one would understand. Biana was always too busy researching about the "Vacker legacy," Mom never really thought twice about it, and you... Well, I really don't know what you think."

Alden grinned a little. Even though it wasn't an extremely happy smile--more of a sad smile--Fitz was still happy that it was something.

"Well, now that you've told me how you feel, I think--"

Alden's sentence was cut off when Biana burst into the room with Mr. Forkle, Linh, Tam, and Dex right on her heels.

She was panting for breath and barely managed to gasp out, "The sirens... they're... attacking us!"
