Chapter 11
A/N: Ok, the last chapter was very long, hope you liked it and hope you like this one!!!!!
Fitz grabbed Chelsea's arm and ran with Keefe and Alvar behind them. He pulled them behind a tree and pointed to a swamp in front of them.
"We can hide there!" Fitz whispered.
Chelsea nodded.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" Keefe whisper-shouted. "What about my hair!" he cried.
"What about my face!" Alvar moaned.
Fitz rolled his eyes " Your face is already ruined, Alvar! And, Keefe, really? Just deal with it! Ok?"
He took a deep breath and walked into the swamp, still holding hands with Chelsea. Alvar slipped in soon after, and Keefe was the last, looking desperately at Chelsea, who shrugged. Fitz concentrated and heard shuffling foot noises, or should he say tail noises?
"Go under the swamp!" Fitz whispered.
"Whoa," Alvar said, "you could be useful Neverseen material."
Fitz tried not to let that sink into his brain as he went under the disgusting waters of the swamp. At first he couldn't breathe, but then he remembered his Exilium training and controlled his breathing. After that he transmitted the order to everyone else, who seemed to struggle. Once they were calm and quiet, the sirens ran about, trying to figure out where they were. Success!
After some time, they climbed out of the swamp and decided to make a camp just like the humans.
Chelsea went off to find wood, while Fitz decided to make a bed out of leaves, grass, and petals.
Keefe was trying to get some disgusting, brownish-gray slime from his hair.
Alvar's face was red full of boils somehow, probably from some poisonous seaweed.
"I hate you, you know that, right?" Alvar grumbled as he drank some of the sedative that Fitz had given him.
Fitz shrugged.
He wanted to reply that he hated Alvar, but something had changed. Maybe he could confront his brother and maybe, have a brotherly relationship with him.
Wow, Chelsea had seriously changed him! He even smiled a little, but then saw Alvar looking at him oddly, so he turned around.
Chelsea had gotten wood and the built a small fire. Soon enough Chelsea and Keefe had fallen asleep. Fitz wasn't sure about Alvar. But he didn't care.
All he was thinking about was how his father would react about this. Fitz hated the way Alden looked at Chelsea like she was a monster. She was far from that, she was very brave, kind, intelligent, and beautiful. All his father cared about was the stupid Vacker legacy. He yanked his family crest from his cape and stared at it. All his life, he enjoyed being a Vacker. Part of the legendary family, but now.... he wasn't so sure that he liked it anymore.
"Throw it." said a hoarse voice behind him.
Fitz turned to see Alvar looking at him.
Alvar smiled. "Finally understanding Dad?" he questioned.
Fitz nodded.
"Throw it into the fire!" he urged him.
Fitz looked at it one last time before doing what Alvar instructed. The fire burned the the crest, turning it into liquid metal. His breathing turned ragged, and tears spilled out of his eyes.
"Let it out!" Alvar murmured to Fitz.
Let it out.
A/N : Hope you guys enjoy!!!!!!!!! I wanted to give you some Fitz-Alvar bonding time, though that might not occur in the real books. LOL! xD
