Keefe and Stina

Disclaimer: I own the plot and one character. Everything else is owned by Shannon Messenger

Keefe made it back in his room after a long talk with his father about the 'importance of empathy' or whatever he liked to call it and Keefe just needed a break from it all. He sits and eyes his gold notebook. He scanned his room for Ro and even checked the closet just to make sure. Then he grabbed a pencil and began to draw. At first, he didn't know what he was drawing but it all came together when he saw her eyes.

"Foster," He said out loud. Then he heard a noise from under his bed and turned his head around

"I knew it!" Yelled the voice which made Keefe freeze.

Ro came from under the bed. "Honestly that is a very good hiding spot."

Keefe sighed and Ro looked at the drawing. She yanked the book and studied the drawing inside.

"You got her eyes just right you know," She said which sounded a lot nicer than what Ro usually sounds like.

"You know she won't ever like me right" Keefe managed to say after a few seconds of silence. "So stop pushing it whenever I'm around her. She likes Fitz, remember?"

Ro sighed. "I'm just trying to help you out. You're obvious but not obvious enough for her to see."

"I don't need her to see!" Keefe shouted. "Didn't you hear me? She likes Fitz. So stop acting like she'll change her mind. IT'S JUST NOTHING OKAY?"

Ro looked down and stalked out of the room. Keefe looked down at the drawing and ripped it into pieces.

"You got her eyes just right." Keefe mimicked "You can't get something so perfect and unique just right." He said softly and crawled into his bed and fell asleep.

Stina grabbed her favorite hair tie and put her hair in a high ponytail and made her way to Mysterium. She was meeting up with Marella to shop for some clothes and medicine. This meant that Stina had to go to Slurps and Burps, an apothecary store, and had to see Dex Dizznee and she hated him. She didn't hate him, she was hiding her feelings. She liked Dex when she first met him when they were about 8. She was going to S&B for the first time and fell in love with the color periwinkle and everything that had to do with alchemy. She visited day after day and practically memorized where everything went and then felt something whenever he smiled at her. Something warm that she couldn't place quite right. So when Level One rolled around, she tried to just stop thinking about him but her mind just gave her pictures of him whenever she saw any periwinkle. Then she found a solution that got out of hand. Pranks. It was a bad decision but she eventually got one right in hand when she put a 'kick me' sign on his back and paid her back with dying her hair periwinkle. Then it got out of hand when he made her lose all her hair and she put a muskog in his locker. Then she almost had a beard and the way he laughed at her when he pointed it out hurt. It hurt even more when Sophie laughed with him and Stina knew for a fact that if Dex didn't have a crush on Sophie when they met, he might as well have one on her soon. After Dex and Sophie's infamous kiss, Stina thought maybe she'd have a chance. But she's been observing how Dex looks at Marella and he could have a crush on her which was even harder to cope with since Marella was her best friend now. Stina sighed and pushed away from the thoughts of Darella when Marella made her way over.

"Sorry, I'm late. My mom needed a dose before I went out." Marella explained

Stina shook her head. "No need to be sorry, I haven't been here long and I thought I was late."

The girls laughed together and went on going through their lists shop by shop until they got to S&B when Stina froze. She didn't want to go in. It doesn't matter if Dex was there or not, she still would see periwinkle no matter what.

"What are we waiting for? Open the door." Said Marella and pushed Stina inside the store. And standing on the other side of the counter was Dex. He wasn't focused on the girls who had just entered the store and instead was reading a scroll.

"Oh, um... Hey, Marella" Dex said when he looked up. Then he saw Stina and went wide-eyed. "Um... Stina you're here too" He then muttered.

"Hey Dex," Marella said while walking over with Stina behind her. "Could you tell me where I can find some Nogginease and Bulguon elixirs?" She asked.

"Right there."

Dex and Stina looked at each other like they saw a ghost. They said the same thing at the same time while pointing in the same direction.

"Okay then," Marella said, making her way over to the aisle they had pointed to. Which left Dex and Stina looking at each other while trying to figure out how they said something so simultaneously.

"Super awkward." They said again at the same time

Stina then went behind the counted and grabbed a step stool so she could be closer in height.

"You are so idiotic Dizznee."

"So are you Stina, so are you."

Stina felt like this was a moment in a rom-com and she should grab him by his cheeks and kiss him. He didn't feel the same way so it probably couldn't even work out and just be even more awkward than it already was.

Stina then looked at Dex's eyes and felt her hair tie reminding herself it was the same color. She then got down and put the stepstool back and went to help Marella get some elixirs. Little did she know Dex was blushing as red as a tomato. And so was she.

Woah that took a while. Well, the first chapters are just to get you into the groove of each character as well as me renaming them to fit its purposes. See you next week, Keepers!
