Training for the Sports Festival

The weekend flew by faster than Hitoshi and I would have liked. We both caught up on the work missed on Saturday since I was in surgery and Hitoshi left school early. Dad helped us with getting it turned in to the correct teachers and we helped him with getting his lesson plans with Seto together for the coming weeks. Seto worked with Dad on some of the plans and even worked with getting some of the other teachers involved as well like Snipe and All Might.

Seto was also going to have time after classes ended for the day so that way if we wanted to work more or the other classes wanted to have some training as well with him they could. He wanted to be fair to the other students even though our homeroom teacher was out of commission he felt it was fair to share his knowledge with everyone. He also informed me that it would benefit me to train with him after class as well since I need to work on regaining the muscle strength back in my arm and leg after healing. Dad apologized to Hitoshi and states that after he's healed he will work more with him on his training. Hitoshi was fine either way, not really expecting to do very well to begin with since support tools aren't really allowed in the fights anyway.

Arriving at school on Monday was definitely not one either of us were looking forward to, much less any day with Rock Master around and girl's lining up to flirt with him. I walked to class with no cast or brace on my leg or arm and felt free even after only having it on for 3 days. Hitoshi walked with me to my class to make sure I didn't have any issues getting there since I was still supposed to take it easy until tomorrow. I was able to wear normal attire with no issues as the head wound healed and I didn't have stitches anymore. When we arrived at my classroom, Hitoshi waved me off before going towards his own. After opening the door I saw most of my classmates were already in there. Suddenly all eyes were on me as I walked into the room.

"KAIRI," Mina yelled out before running and just before she is able to pounce on me Iida runs in front of me stopping her from her attack.

"Mina, I understand you missed Kairi, and we were all worried about her recovery. However do you think it would be wise to jump on her just as she is starting to recover," he questions.

"Ekk. I'm so sorry Kairi I wasn't thinking," Mina exclaims.

"It's okay Mina," I state walking out from behind Iida, "I know you were just excited to see me".

I walk over to her and wrap my arms around her as she wraps her arms around me, bouncing up slightly.

"I'm so happy you're back," she cries out.

"Thank you Mina. I'm happy to be back and start training again. It's light stuff today, but tomorrow I'm cleared to go back at it full force," I inform her with a smile.

"Sweet so tomorrow we can have a one on one," Kirishima states walking over.

"Sure, I don't see a problem with it," I reply.

"Awesome," he exclaims, jumping up. Suddenly the bell for class to begin rings and Mina, Iida, and myself rush to our desks just in time as Eraser and Rocky walk into the room to start our lessons and make the announcements.

Over the next week I was training with Rock Master, Kirishima, Shoto, Hitoshi, and on occasion Midoriya. Kirishima was mainly hand to hand combat and me using my earth abilities making it like armor around my fists. Shoto and I worked on his ice quirk while I trained with my elemental quirk, he would occasionally use his fire quirk when I used mine. Hitoshi and I worked on my ability to mind read a single mind while he would try to control me increasing his ability of how to control me. Midoriya and I would race each other, and do contests to see who would do the most push ups and things like that. Rock Master when at school was training me on ways to use my wind quirk to help with moving or capturing things.

On the other hand, Seto at home was helping me with my Erasure quirk and how to combine two elements and control them like earth and fire to make lava, water and wind for ice. We were working with lava the most since that was something Seto could help manage. When we weren't training at home, we were packing up items we don't use very often, and I had filled out an application for a support item to be used for the festival. I wanted to be able to wear my old goggles that didn't have any special tech on them for eye coverage, and to be able to wear my wig sewed in of course. I was approved nearly instantly for both since they didn't do anything to truly help me with fighting, just covered my eyes from dirt and debris. I didn't realize how many items we actually owned until we were boxing it all up, and piling it into the living room.

The next week I spent more time training by myself, working on the elemental side of my quirks since those were going to be the main ones I used during the festival. Hitoshi and I started looking at pets for our new home since we were going to be able to have them now. Both of us, like my dad, were looking at cat's. We picked out a pair of Russian blue kittens, and have already decided on their names. Luna for mine, and Nezuko for his, both being female, and fitting into the names perfectly. At the end of the week 2 days before the festival Hitoshi and I decided to rest until the games begin. Knowing that we were going to need to be refreshed in order to do our best.

Two weeks of training flew by faster than Iida's running speed, and before we knew it was the morning of the sports festival. While before the start we could enjoy some of the shops at the festival when it was opening to the public we were being rushed into our changing room to get dressed for the festival.

"Aw, man," Mina complained, "I was totally hoping I could wear my costume".

"At least everyone will be in uniforms," Ojiro states, "That'll keep things fair, right?".

"Correct, like my costume has some weapons stashed on it," I explain, making her nod in agreement.

"I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round," Sato asks.

"No matter what they've prepared, we must persevere," Tokoyami replies.

"Right," states Shoji before the door slams open and Iida walks in.

"Everyone, get your game faces on," he exclaims, "We're entering the arena soon"!

Suddenly the room goes tense and everyone begins to focus on preparing themselves for the games ahead. I put my headphones in and start listening to music to help calm me down and to block out everyone else. I knew that listening to others panic or causing fights will psych me out, and I want to do my best even with my handicaps. Yes, dad and I applied for me to wear my bracelet for the events. Thought it would be a bit fair for the other students. While I was listening to the playlist that included the song Wide Awake by Katy Perry, it has been stuck in my head for some reason. I felt someone nudge my left foot. I looked up and saw Mina pointing her head towards Sho and Midoriya. Midoriya looked afraid while Shoto looked frightening. I sighed, having a feeling this was the first of many fights I was about to break-up with him or Bakugo.

"I'm not here to pry about what's going on between you two," I hear Shoto state as I take the headphone out and get up, "But know that I will beat you".

This causes everyone in the room to gasp and look worried, knowing that they could get caught in the cross fires.

"What's with all these declarations of war lately," asked Denki.

"Yeah, what's the big deal," Kirishima asks, walking over and placing his hand on Shoto's shoulder, "Why are you pickin' a fight all of a sudden? And right before we get started..."

I walk up and catch Shoto's arms after he hits Kirishima's arm away.

"We're not here to be each other's friends," Shoto states looking back at Kirishima before catching my eyes, "Don't forget. This isn't a team effort". Then he shakes off my hand and walks towards the door to leave.

"Wait a sec, Todoroki," Midoriya squeaks out, "I don't know what's going through your head or why you think you'd need to tell me that you'll beat me. And, yeah, of course you're better than me. In fact, you probably have way more potential than anyone in the hero course. That's why you got in so easily".

"Midoriya, maybe you're being a little hard on yourself, and us," Kirishima states.

"No, he's right. They both are," I chime in wrapping my hand around my other arm.

"You guys. All the other courses-- they're coming for us with everything they've got," Midoriya explains, "We're all gonna have to fight to stand out. And I'll be aiming for the top, too".

"Fine," states Shoto, both him and Midoriya having a serious and determined face. I walk over to Shoto, but before I get to him I'm pulled back. I look down to see who was holding onto my arm and I see Bakugo's right hand holding on to my left arm.

"Hey Princess. I'm expecting you to give it your all and I expect for you to be at the top as well," he tells me.

"I wouldn't dare to lose without giving it my all. What kinda girl do you take me for Dynamite," I state looking back before pulling my arm from his hand and continuing my walk over to Shoto before glaring at him for ruining my time to focus on my mental prep.

"Sorry," he mutters before it is announced we are needed to report to the arena area.

A/N: Sorry on many accounts. The first week I missed were were getting our kittens Luna and Nezuko and I will post them as inspiration for the cats Kairi and Shinso are getting. Papa Zawa will get one as well being jealous of the kids. The second week school started back for us so its been a mess. This past weekend my long time friend came over and I got distracted again with school assignments. This Chapter is a bit shorter only 4 pages typed, compared to the normal 20+ I usually do, but I have the sports fest planned out. I just need to put it on the computer.
