Chapter Nine: Day 2 at UA

Above is your first hero costume. Things will change as she sees what works and what doesn't.

After spending a late night out with my family and getting some rest before the next day began I could definitely say I was tired. I'm sure if I didn't place my hair and contacts on today I would look like a girl version of my dad. Thankfully Hitoshi didn't look much better than me so I wasn't going to suffer entirely alone. Hopefully nothing too big goes on that requires a lot of energy today. On the way to school dad called the realtor and told him we would like to put in an offer for the asking price on the second home we looked at. Dad told them we could pay about fifty percent of the house cost on the day we close. The realtor said he would take the offer to the homeowner and see if they accept it and let us know prior to the end of day.

I'm sure you are wondering about how we have that much money. Simple when mom passed we got money from the hero commission, dad's never touched it, Seto, number 11 hero, works and while he contributes some to the apartment's utilities we don't really use a lot of his money it just goes into savings. Dad pays most of the bills, but most of his money also goes into savings as well. He uses his teacher's salary to pay for home bills and his pro-hero money he puts straight into savings. I have some money as well that I earned while in the US, that my dad has held onto. No, he won't put any of it towards the house, he knows I want to be a pro-hero, but he thinks I might end up studying medicine or something since one of my quirks is very helpful for that. Another reason I can see why going to college is because being a pro-hero isn't something you can do long term, it's very hard on your body.

As we pulled into the school's garage at 7:30, Hitoshi and I walked off to the front of the school to avoid being seen with dad, and assumptions being made. We just walked in silence, way too tired to even attempt conversation. After we made it past the doors we said our farewells and left to go to our separate classes, promising to meet up at the end of school and walk home together. When I arrived in my classroom I noticed only Momo, Shoto, and Tenya in the classroom waiting for the others to arrive. I said good morning as I passed by them and sat at my desk behind Momo and put my head down to take a small nap before class.

"Don't even think about interrupting my nap Tenya, I will end you faster than Bakugo can even attempt it," I say glaring at the boy, feeling that he was about to make a comment about me getting some rest and how it will be disrespectful.

"You would harm a classmate," Tenya asks, "I thought you were better than that".

"I am. I would make it look like an accident. I'm tired because my family and I were running errands late, and I need a small nap before any teachers or loudmouth students. Now please don't say anything more," I tell him before turning my head and letting my eyes droop close. It might have been no more than 5 minutes before the doors slammed open for the classroom. I went to lift my head up to glare or give the person a piece of my mind when Shoto simply placed his cool hand on my head in a rubbing motion to lull me back to sleep with a coldness I would need for deep sleep.

Around 8:20 Shoto decided to wake me up in the nicest way that Shoto could. I lifted my head and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and looked around the classroom seeing that everyone was in their assigned seats, and waiting for our homeroom teacher to slick his way into the room.

"Thank you Sho, I really needed that cool down. By the way, who was that slammed the door," I asked.

"It was Bakugo. I thought that if you would have woken up you would have started trying to fight him, then you would never get your nap before class," he explains. I nod knowing that would most likely be true.

"Thank you for looking out for me Sho. Hey, do you want to sit with me at lunch today," I ask.

"You're welcome. Yes, if you don't mind," he tells me.

"Awesome, sounds like a plan set in stone then," I tell him, smiling.

"Bleh, do that lovey dovey shit outside of the classroom," I hear the voice of Bakugo say.

"Oh, I'm sorry Bakugo. I wasn't aware that you even knew those words existed in your vocabulary. I bet that's how you get all the ladies falling at your feet. That and your shit attitude," I say looking over at him. Do I have a death wish? No. Am I tired and lacking a filter? Yes. Do I enjoy pissing him off? Also yes, no one picks on my Deku and gets away with it. Not anymore.

Before Bakugo can reply, our homeroom teacher, my dad, walks in. He goes over the plan for today and inquires if everyone read over the syllabus that was sent home with us yesterday. To which everyone says they had, but I really doubt it. Eraser then explains who will be teaching what subject. Mic for English, Midnight for Modern Art History, Cementos for Modern literature, Ectoplasm for Math, and the last class was Heroics and it was going to be a surprise teacher. All Might.

During English with Present Mic he would ask questions and often look over in my direction when no one would try to answer his questions. I would simply shake my head no and nod my head towards the right for him to ask another.

"Now. Which of these four sentences contains a mistake," He asked. When no one answered he looked over at me. Again I shook my head no, I wasn't going to be the one he picked on all the time. He has 20 other students to teach, not just me.

When no one would answer he yelled out, "Hey, everybody, look alive! Grammar rules"!

Finally Momo raised her hand to answer the questions, making Mic so happy that someone was participating.

"Yaoyorozu, lay it on us," He yelled out, then let her answer the question correctly.

Eventually when he did call on me he nearly said my first name, then my actual last name, before finally getting it right with Uzumaki. I tried to tell him to start calling me that over a year ago, but no Hizashi knows best.

The rest of our classes went without any huge issues. Midnight would call on me with the correct last name, and then would gush over how I got the answer correct. Dad, please come save me. Was the only thought that played on repeat in my head during her class. After that, literature, and math it was time for lunch. Shoto and I sat together towards the back of the room to enjoy the silence and Lunch Rush's amazing cooking. I waved at my purpled haired friend when I noticed him in line, before going back to eating my lunch.

After Lunch we all went back to our homeroom to wait for our final lesson. Hero Basic Training with, well you'll see.

"I am here," says All Might as he opens the door and leans into the classroom. Nearly everyone gasps in surprise.

"Coming through the door like a hero," he continues making everyone gasp in awe.

"I can't believe it's really All Might," exclaims Denki.

"So he is a teacher! This year is gonna be totally awesome!," says Kirishima.

"Hey, look. Is he wearing his Silver Age costume," asks Su.

"I'm getting goose‐bumps. It's so retro," says Ojiro.

"Welcome to the most important class at UA High. Think of it as "Hero‐ing 101." Here, you will learn the basics of being a pro. And what it means to fight in the name of good!

Let's get into it. Today's lesson will pull no punches," All Might says, exciting everyone in the class.

"Fight training," says Bakugo.

"Real combat," asked Midoriya.

" But one of the keys of being a hero is......looking good," All Might says, then he points to the wall on the right of him near my row of desks.

"These were designed for you based on your Quirk registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started," All Might explains, as parts of the wall come out and show briefcases with numbers on them. Some of my fellow classmates gasp in surprise and others cheer.

"Costumes," Midoriya confirms.

"Get yourselves suited up, and then meet me at Training Ground Beta," All Might explains.

"Yes, sir," we all say in unison. We each get up and move to our numbered briefcase, taking it down off the shelf then moving over to the changing room. I was number 21, and as I got into the changing room I was kinda excited to see how it came out. I kept it pretty simple, just a jumpsuit similar to what you would see someone like Black Widow from the Avenger would wear except mine was deep burgundy with black trim, and a hood. The red to match my eyes when I use my Erasurer quirk. I also have a pair of black goggles that will hide my eye color, but allow me to see out without problems. I will probably add more gear to it later and make some updates to it myself with a bit of help from Powerloader. I wanted to keep it simple for my first outfit, and not rely too much on gear for now, but I know as time goes on I will change my mind. Except for capes, NO capes. I am still wearing my dampening bracelet for this exercise. No reason to go all out on the first time.

"They say that clothes make the pros, young ladies and gentlemen, and behold, you are the proof," All Might says as he looks around at everyone, "Take this to heart. From now on you are all...... heroes in training! This is getting me all revved up. You look so cool! Now. Shall we get started, you buncha newbies".

"Ah! Hey, Deku," Uraraka calls out. I look back and see him walking out in a green suit, that looks kinda like someone else's. I walk over to him knowing that Shoto isn't going to walk to talk, especially with his outfit covering up his flame side. This boy and his anger with his flame quirk.

"Uraraka! Kairi," He says with a blush.

"Love your costume! Not too flashy, ya know," Uraraka says with a smile making Midoriya begin to mutter, "I should've been more specific about what I wanted. This bodysuit is skintight. Not really my style".

"I like how mine came out, though I can agree with it being skintight. But as long as the material can be flexible with me I don't really have an issue with it, you know," I explain.

"I love this school," I hear Mineta say. I glare over at him.

"Huh," questions Midoriya. I can hear All might start to growl, but I am unsure if it's toward Mineta's comment or Midoriya's outfit that copies him.

"Now that you're ready, it's time for combat training," All Might states.

"Sir," I hear Iida say under his helmet, "This is the fake city from our entrance exam. Does that mean that we'll be conducting urban battles again"?

"Not quite. I'm going to move you two steps ahead. Most of the villain fights you see on the news take place outside. However, statistically speaking, run‐ins with the most dastardly evildoers take place indoors," All Might explains, "Think about it. Backroom deals, home invasions, secret underground lairs. Truly intelligent criminals stay hidden in the shadows. For this training exercise, you'll be split into teams of good guys and bad guys and fight two‐on‐two and one three-on-two indoor battles".

"Isn't this a little advanced," Su questions and I can't help but agree.

"The best training is what you get on the battlefield," All Might states, "But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time. You're dealing with actual people now".

"Sir, will you be the one deciding who wins," Momo questions.

"How much can we hurt the other team," Bakugo questions.

"Do we need to worry about the losers getting expelled like earlier," Uraraka questions.

"Will you be splitting us up based on chance or comparative skill," Iida questions.

"Isn't this cape très chic," questions Aoyama.

"Does Recovery girl know about this," I question knowing that if Bakugo or Shoto go on a rampage it won't be nice for those involved. All Might growls in response.

"I wasn't finished talking," He says, annoyed, but explains the exercise, "Listen up. The situation is this. The villains have hidden a nuclear missile somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must try to foil their plans. To do that, the good guys either have to catch the evildoers or recover the weapon. Likewise, the bad guys succeed if they protect their payload or capture the heroes. Time's limited, and we'll choose teams by drawing lots".

"Isn't there a better way," questions Iida.

"Well if you think about it," I start to explain looking at Iida, "Pros often have to team up with heroes from other agencies on the spot, so what better way to learn how to work well with others you know nothing about then doing it now. While we know about some of our classmates' quirks we aren't entirely familiar with how they work in certain situations".

"Yes, I see. Life is a random series of events. Excuse my rudeness," Iida apologizes.

"No sweat. Let's draw," All Might says, holding out the box.

Team A - Uraraka and Midoriya.

Team B- Shoto, Kairi, and Shoji

Team C- Momo and Mineta

Team D- Bakugo and Iida

Team E- Mina and Aoyama

Team F- Koda and Sato

Team G- Jiro and Denki

Team H- Tokoyami and Asui

Team I- Ojiro and Toru

Team J- Sero and Kirishima

"Wow, what are the chances? We're a team," I can hear Uraraka telling Midoriya as I walk over to Shoto.

"So Sho, looks like we get to team up," I say with a smile.

"It appears that we are," he says back without a comment.

"I declare that the first teams to fight will be......these guys," All Might states as he pulls out the balls with A and D on them. Oh this can't end well for anyone involved.

"Team A will be the heroes, Team D will be the villains. Everyone else can head to the monitoring room to watch," He explains before beginning to direct everyone away.

"Yes, sir," we all say in unison. As we walk into the monitoring room I can hear a collective gasp coming from some of my classmates as they were amazed with the amount of tech.

"Bad guys, you can go on in and get set up. In five minutes, the good guys will be let loose and the battle will start," All Might says into the mic as the computers in the room go up. I stand in the back near Shoto's left side and look over his features ignoring everyone around.

"So, Sho. Do you have a plan for our battle," I questioned? I was met with silence. I rolled my eyes and just leaned my head on his shoulder to rest a bit. He stayed still and didn't move away or push me off, meaning I was okay with doing what I was doing.

"Young Iida. Young Bakugo," I heard All Might say into the mic, "The key to being successful in this challenge is to embody villainy. Think from the perspective of an evildoer".

"Got it," Iida says.

"If things go too far, I'll step in," All Might says. More like he will try to step in, and I will end up having to help out in some manner or another.

"Understood," Iida replies as Bakugo growls. Then All Might cuts off the phones so that the teams can work on a game plan without the other teams hearing it.

"Uzumaki," I heard a very unfamiliar voice call out. I lifted my head up to look around and see who might have called out to me before my eyes landed on our teammate for this exercise, Shoji, walking over to me and Sho.

"Oh hi, Shoji. Coming to talk strategy," I say with a smile.

"Sort of. I wanted to see what abilities you and Todoroki had and see how we can use them for our turn," Shoji explains.

"Smart idea," I tell him with a nod, "However I think when our turn comes up we can have some time before to plan better. I don't really like talking about my quirks, nor does Shoto, plus we don't want others to overhear the plan. Plus each building is a bit different with their layouts and such".

Shoji looks at me, questioning how I knew this. I simply shake my head letting him know it's not the time to discuss.

"By the way, you can call me Kairi. I would actually really prefer it," I explain. He nods to me.

"All right," All Might calls out into the mic, "Let's begin the indoor combat training! Team A and Team D, your time starts now".

Then All Might turns his attention to us and states, "Pay attention, kids. Think about what you would do".

We watch the screens as the exercise begins and the heroes begin entering the building from the window.

"Who do you think will win," Shoji questions.

"It will be a close one. They are in an enclosed area so Iida can't really get up to max speeds in the maze area. Bakugo will probably just attack Midoriya and forget about Uraraka or simply not care. Midoriya's abilities are a little out of control so he probably won't use it much because he will risk damaging his body, the building, or whoever he attacks. This means he will probably use it as a last resort, because otherwise he would be a liability to Uraraka and the mission. Uraraka is kinda a wild card. While her quirk is useful she needs items around to make into weapons. I don't think she's had any combat training, so it's a toss up. If Midoriya and Uraraka play this correctly they can win because of Bakugo's blindness to anything other than Midoriya," I explain.

"Wow, you got all of that data just after a few days with them," I heard Denki question.

"Well Midoriya I've known for a while, so by that I know the history of him and Bakugo. The rest I watched from the Assessment we did yesterday," I explained.

"That's really intuitive," Momo states.

"A good hero watches all around them, no reason to go on the attack without knowing your opponent first. Otherwise you can end up hurt, getting someone else hurt, or something worse," I explain.

"Show off," Shoto whispers in my ear jokingly. I look back at him amused. Jealous? I questioned him in his mind. He simply rolls his eyes at me with a small subtle smile.

Suddenly we hear an explosion go off on the screen.

"He almost got the jump on them," Mineta exclaims.

"Sneak attack, Bakugo? What kinda man pulls cheap crap like that," Kirishima questions, pounding his fist into his hand.

"It's a viable strategy. He's playing the part. Acting like a true villain would," All Might explains.

"It didn't work. Midoriya dodged him," Mina says excitedly.

"Look, there he goes," Denki says. All of our eyes are now glued to the screen.

We watched as Bakugo goes on the attack towards Midoriya using his right arm to punch at him. Midoriya catches his arm and then moves his body around and slams Bakugo onto the floor.

"YES!! Get him Midoriya," I exclaim happily that my friend is finally fighting back for once. This fight is going to be one of the better ones of today.

"Young Uzumaki," All Might says with a warning tone.

"What," I questioned, "I think it's about time he started fighting back. Better to learn now, then much later".

As we watched the screen we can see that Bakugo is searching for Midoriya, and while he's moving we can see his lips moving on the feed.

"Hey, who's Bakugo talking to," Kirishima questions, "I'm not hearing anything. Can we get any sound with this video"?

"He's got a radio in his ear so he can talk to his partner. I gave it to him before the match started," All Might explains, "Along with a map of the building. Also, this. A roll of capture tape! Wrapping this around your opponent means you've apprehended them, and they're out for the rest of the game".

So then I don't need to worry about linking up with Shoji because we will have a comm system. I will keep the one with Shoto for now since he doesn't like to use his fire quirk and he can get frosty if he uses too much of his ice quirk. This way I can monitor him and help warm him up if push comes to shove.

"So, there's a 15‐minute time limit, and the good guys have no idea what floor the nuclear weapon is hidden on, right," Mina questions.

"Correct," All Might confirms.

"Then the heroes are clearly at a disadvantage here. A big one," Mina states.

" Real Pros have to outwit villains on a daily basis. That's life. Even when the odds aren't

in our favor, we fight," All Might explains. This makes Kirishima laugh and a few others gasp in surprise.

"All together," All Might yells out!

"Let's hear a Plus Ultra," All Might and all of my classmates.

"Monsieur. He's on the move," notes Aoyama. This makes All Might grunt as he turns back to the screen.

We see Bakugo focus on Midoriya and Uraraka run off in the other direction completely ignored by Bakugo.

"The little guy's really good," says Sato surprised.

"He's holding his own and he hasn't even used his Quirk yet," says Sero.

"Looks like you were right Kairi," Shoto says.

"I should have placed a bet on it," I say before All Might turns to look at me, "I was joking. Don't worry, I would never do something like that".

As we watched Midoriya and Bakugo, Uraraka had made it to the villain's hideout. I noticed that Iida has moved everything in the room and made it bare. Two for 2, I am on a roll today. As we watched Uraraka had gotten distracted and made a little noise that didn't go unnoticed by Iida.

I look back to the fight with Bakugo and see him getting ready to use the gauntlet on his right arm that looks like a.... bomb.

"Young Bakugo," All Might screams into the mic, "Don't do it! You'll kill him"!

"He'll be fine as long as he dodges," yells back Bakugo. Then a big explosion goes off and destroys part of the building blocking the feed.

As the room shakes people begin to gasp in worry.

"Whoa, whoa! This's nuts," Kirishima says, looking around towards the ceiling.

"Come in! Come in, Midoriya," All Might calls out in worry. Oh Recovery girl is soooo going to have someone's head later today. As we look at the screen we see Midoriya getting back up, a little battered but still able to fight. Bakugo seems to be getting more and more agitated and angry as Midoriya doesn't seem to be answering him.

"Sir, isn't this getting outta hand? That Bakugo is acting real crazy. He's gonna kill 'im," Kirishima questions with worry.

"Not so," disagrees All Might.

" Bakugo. Use that stored‐up power again and I'll stop this fight.Your team will lose," All Might says with authority.

"Huh," questions Bakugo.

"To employ such a strong attack indoors is inviting the destruction of the stronghold you should be protecting. That's a poor strategy, whether you're a hero or a villain. The penalty would be a massive loss of points," All Might explains.

This causes Bakugo to get even more annoyed and charge forward towards Midoriya. Midoriya tries to counter it but Bakugo moves midair and fires a charge at Midoriya's back. Ouch!

"What was that move," questions Kirishima.

"He doesn't come off as a guy with a strategy. But he's actually quite intelligent," Shoto says out loud joining the conversation.

"Huh," Mina questions.

"What're you talkin' about," asked Kirishima.

"He changed his trajectory while in midair using a blast that doubled as a smokescreen. Very clever," Shoto explains.

"A feint attack like that requires an extreme amount of precision. He had to calculate

the physics and demonstrate control over his Quirk," Momo explains further.

"Ugh, Bakugo is uber talented. I hate it," says Denki.

As we keep our focus on the screen we can see Midoriya getting beaten and tossed around like a rag doll.

"This is hard to watch! All he has to do is wrap tape around him, not kill him," says Mina.

"Why do you think most hero fights aren't shown on TV much? It's hard for anyone to watch, much less see first hand," I explain.

"Bakugo's certainly acting like a villain," Tokoyami says.

"I thought Midoriya was pretty amazing at the start of the fight, but he's completely outmatched in terms of combat power," Denki comments, "Not to mention, Bakugo seems like a natural at all this stuff".

We keep watching to see how things play out.

"He's running away," notes Mina.

"Not very manly, but he doesn't have a choice. He's outgunned. Unless he's got some kinda plan," Kirishima wonders.

"Oh he definitely has one," I say with a smile as my eyes look over at Kirishima.

Suddenly Midoriya stops running right at the end of the hall where the windows are. He plants his feet and you can see him and Bakugo talking. Then he starts to charge at Bakugo as if making his final stand.

"They're gonna kill each other," Kirishima yells with concern at our frozen teacher, "Sir"

"Both of you, stop‐‐," All Might yells, but then stops and waits to finish his sentence. Then the Midoriya takes the blast from Bakugo head on but throws his punch in the air breaking the ceiling and the floors above. As everything starts to fly about, Uraraka grabs onto the rocket. Everyone in the room was silent in shock at how things ended. I got it all right, damn.

"The hero team...," All Might yells, ".. wins"!

After the announcement everyone is gasping in surprise.

"What a weird way for this to end. The losers are practically untouched. and the winners are both on the ground," Denki states.

"How does the old saying go? They may've lost the battle, but they won the war," Tokoyami states.

"This class is intense," Sui says.

"All Might, should we inform Recovery girl or can we start getting some first aid care for Midoriya," I questioned our teacher with worry.

"I already made her aware and the Transpo-bots should be arriving now to take him over to her," All Might explains, hoping to put me at ease.

"He will be alright, Kar. You can probably go visit him after our match," Shoto says looking over at me. I nod letting him know I heard him.

"Young Todoroki is correct. After you match you can go check in on him, but you must come right back," All Might says looking back at me. I nod again letting him know I understand, then he walks out of the room to go meet with the teams. On screen we can see Midoriya is loaded onto the stretcher and taken to the nurse's office for treatment.

After a while All Might walks back in with Bakugo, Iida and Uraraka. Bakugo looks shaken up, Iida looks depressed, and Uraraka looks a little weak.

"Well, despite the results. The MVP of this exercise is Young Iida," All Might says. Everyone but Momo, Shoto, and myself gasp in surprise.

"Huh," questioned Iida.

"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes instead, since they're the winners," asked Sui.

"Mm! Valid question," All Might said, "Why didn't I choose one of those two? Who has a guess"?

"I got this part Momo! I'll explain it," I state, stepping up, "Iida embraced this challenge. He was the only one who truly adapted to his assigned role".

"I'll explain it a bit more," Momo says, also stepping up, "Bakugo's judgment was clouded by a personal grudge against Midoriya. As you pointed out earlier, launching a large‐scale attack indoors was a foolish move. It could have been disastrous. Similarly, Midoriya's plan was also poorly thought out, considering the amount of damage that he received. He rendered himself helpless. Not smart. As for Uraraka...She let her guard down mid‐battle, and her final attack was far too reckless given the hypothetical stakes. If she'd treated the fake weapon as though it were real, she never would've risked using such an imprecise move. Iida was fully prepared for his opponent's arrival. He had a strategy, and never lost sight of his mission to protect the dummy weapon, even if he was foiled in the end. Technically, the hero team won, yes, but they took advantage of the fact that this was training. They didn't respect the spirit of the trial".

"Yes... Well, you overlooked a few things," All Might says needing to have the last word, "Young Iida could have relaxed a little bit in the exercise, but... otherwise, you girls nailed it"

"One should always start with the basics," Momo states, "and devote themselves wholeheartedly to learning. That's the only real way to become a top hero".

"Now then. Time to blow this joint. Let's move on to the next match," All Might states, "Think about everything we saw and discussed as you tackle this training for yourself".

"Yes, sir," we all say in unison.

"Match two," All Might says while digging in the boxes before pulling out two balls, "Team B will be our heroes! And Team I will be the villains".

"So, what's the plan, Shoto," I ask, letting him take the lead.

"Shoji, you can make other body parts on your arms correct," Shoto questions.

"Yes that is correct," Shoji confirms.

"Can you make ears and scout out where the other team is hiding," Shoto questions.

"Yes, I can," Shoji confirms.

"Good, find out where they are and I will take care of the rest," Shoto says.

"What about me," I asked.

"You are back-up incase I get captured," Shoto explains, "Your quirk and fighting style are a big play here, and are more helpful when getting out of trouble. You will be the last resort".

"Yeah, that makes sense," I say, agreeing with him. We wait a few moments longer before being told when we can start.

"Look alive, kids! Show us you're the embodiment of good. Or evil! Let's go," All Might says as the buzzer goes off.

Shoji goes in first and listens to see where the other team is located. Shoto and I walk into the building after he's had a moment to listen in.

"One's in the hall on the north side of the fourth floor. And I think the other's on the same level somewhere. Both are barefoot. I bet the invisible one plans to sneak up and surprise us," Shoji explains. I nod listening and taking in what he says.

"For your own safety, go outside," Shoto says before walking deeper into the building. Shoji looks at me as I walk past him.

"I'll be fine, I can float with the wind. I can float you as well if you want to stay inside," I inform Shoji. He shakes his head and starts to walk out of the building. I shrug my shoulders and begin to make myself levitate.

"I'm sure our opponents intend to fight a defensive battle," Shoto explains before placing his hand on the wall of the building making ice coat the entire inside. Glad my suit has long sleeves for this. "But we've already won".

Shoto continues on into the building and I float behind him, knowing that I am not really needed here, but I know I will have to help unfreeze our classmates. Shoto gets up to the room on the fourth floor where the other team was hiding with the bomb. Shoto enters the room with me still right behind him and we can see the other starting to struggle more to get out of the ice.

"Pry yourself up if you want, but it might be hard to fight me with no skin on the bottom of your feet," Shoto says a bit meanly. Shoto then touches the bomb and I let myself drop to the floor.

"The hero team wins," we hear All Might yell. Shoto then starts to release heat to melt the ice and I go over to Hagakure to help her get off the ground by using the wind to help her float up.

"Heat, too," Ojiro asks Shoto in surprise.

"It's not your fault. We're just playing on different levels," Shoto says, seemingly rubbing his victory in.

After Shoto is done warming up everything I float Toru over to her shoes and gloves so she can put them on. Then Shoto and I walked out of the building, passing by Shoji outside who looked amazed.

"I'm kinda peeved I couldn't do anything to help really," I say looking over at Shoto.

"I know, but to be fair you shouldn't really be going all out right now and you know that. Sit back and let things play out, plus using your quirk with that bracelet on can be a bit damaging to you remember," Shoto says looking at me out of the corner of his right eye.

"I know, but still I feel useless," I explained.

"You are far from that, and you know it. I trust you enough to know that you have my back and if something was to happen you would step in and help out. Next time we team up, I will let you help out more, deal," he says, hoping to compromise.

"Sweet! Yes deal," I say with a smile and then begin to skip to the meeting area.

"Kairi," I stop and turn to look back at him, "Thank you for having my back".

"Of course Sho. Hey, pending what else happens you want to walk to the station together with me since Hitoshi and dad probably went home already," I question. He simply nods and keeps walking forward. I smile and stay in step with him on the way back.

When we get back to the room we review over the results with All Might and are congratulated on our team work. Then All Might called the next teams up J and H, and he said I was allowed to check on Midoriya, but I better come right back as he was timing me. I nod and walk out of the room and down the hallway a little bit before teleporting to right outside of Recovery Girl's office. I knock on the door and her annoyed voice calls out.

"All Might, you better not be sending me another student to take care of," she yells.

"Nope, just me Recovery girl," I say as I open the door, "I wanted to see if I could donate some blood to help with his recovery".

"Oh Kairi, come in, come in, have a seat," she says waving me in. I chuckle at her but take a seat in the chair nearby.

"I already did my battle with no injuries, so I figured I could donate a bit to help with his recovery. I'm sure he has burns and broken bones, but I don't want you to over do it," I explain.

"Always willing to help others just like your father, mother, and brother. Thank you sweetheart, but I'm fine," she tells me.

"I insist, Gran. His body will need the extra boost as well to help with his recovery. This way he can go home a bit sooner," I explain. She sighs at me, but gets up to gather supplies to draw blood. I look over at Midoriya as she sticks the needle in me to start the process of collecting blood.

"You know, I'm really proud of you. I don't know if I ever said that to you Kathryn Aizawa, but you've come a long way from that night," Recovery girl says, looking over at me with a sad smile.

"Thank you Gran. That really means a lot coming from you," I tell her.

"Don't forget I am always here for you. Even if it's just to talk, I am here to listen and help you. Your mom was one of my favorites you know back when I was a teacher helping out," she tells me.

"Really, I thought teachers couldn't have favorites," I tease.

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Maybe you will believe it," she states with a laugh, which causes me to laugh as well.

"Do you think we will be okay," I ask her.

"I think your generation has the best to offer us yet. All of you inspired by your uncle, his dreams, and his desire to keep peace in the world, we will look to you all when the time comes," she states. I smile at her words.

"Thanks gran," I tell her, feeling more at peace.

"Of course, now let me get you unhooked up and give you a note for class. I took a pint from you so you may feel a bit lightheaded for a bit, but you should recover completely in an hour or less. No going all out until tomorrow, even with your fast recovery you should still take it easy," she stresses to me.

"I will, thanks gran," I replied. She moves the tubing away, takes the needle out, and wraps my arm, before wraphanding me an apple juice and some cookies. She hands me a note before kicking me out so she can start working on Midoriya. I smile as I walk out of the room, eating a few cookies before teleporting back to the hall down from the meeting room. As I arrive I get really light headed and nearly fall over before someone catches me.

"I'm glad I found you. All Might was getting worried," I hear Shoto say. My vision was too blurry to really see who caught me.

"Thanks," I mumble. I can feel that he was shifting me back onto a wall and my vision was slightly coming back.

"I need to si-," is all I can muster out.

"No, you need to eat your cookies and drink the juice. You must have given some blood to help Midoriya, but you still need to take it easy," he tells me with a slight worry in his voice, "Your nose is bleeding. Damn it Kairi, you overdid it".

"I'll be fine, just help me get a few sips of juice and I'll be okay," I explained looking over at him as my vision returned. He pulls a cloth out of my side bag, knowing I kept first aid supplies with me at all times, and wipes my nose. Then he opens the bottle with ease and holds it near my mouth to help me get some sips in. After I took a few sips that tasted a bit metallic from the blood coming from my nose. He then moves the bottle away and wipes my nose again.

"Feeling better," he questions, "Your color is starting to return".

"Oh my goodness, Kairi. What are you doing on the floor," I hear Mina call out.

"I'm good Mina, just got a little lightheaded after seeing Midoriya. Shoto is just helping me bounce back with some juice and cookies that I kept in my first aid pouch," I explain. I try to get up but Shoto firmly puts his hand on my shoulder holding me down.

"Are you sure you're feeling better," he asked.

"Yeah I'm about seventy-five percent better. If anything you can help me get back into the classroom before we miss all the battles," I stated.

"Omph, sorry girl I was a part of the last battle. You took a little long with Recovery Girl," Mina explained.

"Dang it. Well she wrote me a note anyway, she needed some help while I was there," I explained trying to get up again. I leaned back on the wall and Shoto held my right arm as I moved to stand. After a moment of being on my feet I was able to move. Shoto still kept his hand on my arm in case I fell again he could grab me.

As we walk into the area where we are supposed to meet with our class, All Might takes notice that I am with Shoto and his left hand on my right arm. My juice was in his right hand, my note for All Might in my left hand. I moved my left hand up to hand All Might the note. He read over it before squinting his eyes at me with a look that said he was annoyed I took so long, but thankful I was helping out Midoriya.

"Welcome back, Young Uzumaki. How is young Midoriya doing," he questions.

"He's doing well. Recovery girl says he should be discharged as early as later this evening," I explained.

"Good. I am sure we are all glad to hear the good news," All Might says before he takes notice of Team E and F coming in.

"All right, That's a wrap! Super work. You really stepped up to the plate. And, we didn't have any major injuries, except for Midoriya. You should be proud. Excellent first day

of training, all around," All Might says encouraging everyone.

"It's nice to hear some encouraging words after our homeroom class," Sui states while scratching her face, "Mr. Aizawa was kind of a buzzkill".

"I'm happy to bring such staggering positivity to my alma mater! That's all for now, folks. I should go and check on Young Midoriya's progress in person! Now, watch how a pro exits. Like he's got somewhere to be," All Might says before making a dash to the exit.

Everyone gasps in surprise.

"Okay, you guys, that is a hero," Denki yells out.

"Aw, I'll never be able to run that fast," Ojiro says.

"Super awesome," Mineta says fan boying out.

Everyone starts walking off to change out of their costumes. I stay back motioning for Shoto to go on without me. I stare at Bakugo knowing that this is probably not going to end well, but it looks like he needs someone to talk to. He's just standing there staring out into space not noticing everyone else leaving. When everyone else is gone, I move to approach him.

"Hey Bakugo," I say barely above a whisper. His eyes fixate on me and I can see the lost and defeated look behind them, but also some built up rage.

"What do you want," he barks out.

"To check on you. I know seeing others who are slightly better than you can be overwhelming when you are used to being the best," I explain.

"How would you know, you didn't really do anything today in your battle," he yells angrily.

"You're right. I didn't, because Shoto, Shoji, and I made a plan. I know if I wanted to I could have won without any assistance, but I was to be back-up in case something happened. Look, being mad and using anger to fight can only get you so far in life and hero work. I'm not better than you or anyone else here, but I know how it feels to be lost like you are now. You can either accept it or let it consume you. If you want to move forward I would like to help you, if you let it consume you it will only hurt you and your chances of being a hero. The choice is yours. Anyway I'm going to change back to go home. Here," I stated going into my pocket that held a slip of paper with my number on it, pulling it out, then handing it to him, "This is my cell number. I'm usually pretty terrible at answering texts, but I am working on it. Message me, even if you want to yell about Deku and him being stupid or something. I'll listen, might not agree all the time, but I'll listen".

I walk off before he can say anything back to me. I make it to the changing room and change out of my costume. I definitely need to make some changes to it. I will work on that when I get home. Maybe work on getting something set up for a comm system, and making them like cat ears. Shadow Kat is my planned hero name, might as well make it go with it. I finish changing out of everything and pack it up in my case before making my way back to the classroom.

"Hey! Princess," I hear a voice call out. I look back and see Bakugo looking at me.

"You can call me Kairi," I tell him as I turn around to face him.

"Whatever. Why did you give me this," he holds out the paper I gave him.

"In case you wanted to talk when there aren't so many nosey teens around. I know how people like their privacy. I don't care either way if we talk with people around or not, but I know that you might, so that's a way for you to talk to me without people being in your business," I tell him calmly. He hmphs in reply before walking past me. I sigh and shake my head at his antics, but I have a feeling he will reach out.

I walk to the classroom being the last to enter and pick up my suitcase. We finish the rest of our classes for the afternoon and I decide to wait with the rest of the class for Midoriya to come back.

We waited for a little while longer, before the door opened and in walks Midoriya. His right arm in a brace and a sling, and his left arm wrapped up in an ace wrap, but all other injuries seem to be completely healed. At least his arm isn't in a cast and the wrapping in his arm doesn't seem like it's a severe burn anymore. I guess that's about as good as he can get, glad he was able to get up before the end of the day.

"Hey, it's Midoriya," Kirishima calls out, scaring him, "Good to see ya back, super! Ha! Man, I don't know what you were saying during that match. But you were all fired up, huh"?

"I can't believe you held your own against Bakugo. He's super strong," says Sero.

"You did a great job dodging," Mina says.

"You guys really turned up in the first match, so none of us held back in our rounds, either," says Sato.

"You were far from elegant, but I suppose‐," Ayonama says, but is cut off by Mina.

"And the dodging was like, whoa," Mina says jumping about.

"Hey, I'm Eijiro Kirishima," Kirishima says introducing himself, "We've been goin'

over training results while you were in recovery".

"Hi. I'm Hanta Sero," Sero says.

"More importantly, I'm Yuga Ao‐," Aoyama says before getting cut off again by Mina.

"I'm Mina Ashido! And I just gotta say, your dodging was awesome," Mina says.00

"Tsuyu Asui. But please, call me "Tsu."

"Hey, Sato," Sato says with a thumbs up.

"Um. Hey, guys," Midoriya says backing up.

"And my name's Mineta," Mineta says as he jumps up into the air.

"Where the heck did you pop out of," Kirishima asks.

"Honestly I don't think we want to know," I say coming up behind him.

"UA's shiniest star here‐‐," Aoyama says.

"You might sparkle, but you sucked it up intraining," Sato says. I hear Tokoyami in the back saying how noisy everyone is.

"Tokoyami! Stop using that desk as a chair! Get off of it this instant," Iida says, coming in hot.

"Dude, you need to chill," Jiro says.

"You're carrying a lot of tension," Ojiro says.

"No one understands. I cannot condone actions that disrespect these desks. Not when great men and women, our upperclassmen, once used them," Iida states loudly.

Meanwhile Denki and Uraraka come back carrying books. Denki tries to ask Uraraka out for a meal and she completely passes him as soon as she sees Midoriya.

"Oh Deku, Why didn't she heal your injuries," she asked.

"Oh. Uh... Well it has to do with how much stamina I'm using, but she said I'm doing better than a lot of other students. The blood she gave me really helped, otherwise I would be still resting until tomorrow for morning classes," Midoriya explains, then looks over at me and nods to thank me for my help with his recovery.

"Stamina," Uraraka questions, but Midoriya gets distracted.

"Um, Uraraka. Where's Kacchan," he asked.

"We tried to stop him from leaving. But he wouldn't listen. You just missed him," Uraraka explains, then Midoriya takes off to hunt him down.

"Welp, I stuck around to see him and make sure he's doing good. I'm going home, before my dad starts to worry about me. See you all tomorrow! Coming Sho," I say looking back at my bi-colored hair friend. He nods and grabs his bag and mine before meeting me at the door. We walked to the station in silence just enjoying the company.

"Hey did I tell you. Dad is getting a bigger house since we are taking in Hitoshi," I tell him.

"No you didn't. Was that what you were doing orientation yesterday," he questions.

"Yep. Dad put in an offer this morning. It's walking distance from school, so I won't be taking the train anymore, but you can always come over for a bit before going home," I tell him.

"I will think about it. You know this means you really need to start messaging people back, right," he reminds me.

"Yeah, I know. Dad really stressed it to me yesterday," I informed him.

"Good, I expect you to message me when you get home and reply when I get home this time," he says looking directly at me.

"Sure dad. When did you get so protective," I questioned.

"When you became my first friend. Plus Fuyumi told me to keep an eye on you," he tells me.

"Sure. Blame sweet, innocent, Fuyumi," I say with a chuckle.

"You really are my only friend Kairi. I don't want to lose you," he tells me.

"Sho, trust me. I'm not going anyway. I promise," I tell him, not knowing that I was eventually going to be breaking that promise without meaning too. We got to my stop first and I got off waving at Shoto as the train took off again. I got home and as I promised I messaged him to let him know I was safe and sound.

"Lucy, I'm home," I called out into the house.

"Finally made it back, huh. How was hero training," Hitoshi questions from the kitchen bar top.

"Boring. I was teamed up with Shoto, but he only used me as back-up. So I didn't even do anything," I say sitting next to him at the bar, laying my head down.

"Sounds boring. Do you know who set off the explosion," he asks.

"Bakugo. What's for dinner," I question.

"Papa Zawa said you kids fend for yourselves," Hito explains.

"Left-overs it is," I tell him getting up to warm up the leftovers from last night.

"Hey Kairi, your phone keeps buzzing," Hitoshi tells me.

"Can you check it? It might be Shoto. He should be just about home by now," I tell him.

"Nope, it's an unknown number," he tells me.

"Huh, see what they want," I tell him while plating our food.

"Nah, I'll leave you to it. Seems weird to me that someone would message you in all caps starting with Princess," he tells me.

"Ah, Bakugo. I had a feeling he would message me about today. Here, I'll reply back while we eat," I tell him while handing him his plate.

Unknown Number: PRINCESS!

Unknown number: DEKU TRIED COMING UP WITH SOME BULLSHIT THING ABOUT HIS QUIRK!

Unknown number: THAT DAMN NERD

Me: Hello Bakugo! How wonderful to hear from you in ALL CAPS! MY NAME IS KAIRI NOT PRINCESS!!!

I change his name to Firecracker 🧨(I know if he ever sees this. I'm dead, but I happily accept my fate)

Sho: I'm home. I'm going to wash up and then do some homework before bed. See you in the morning.

Me: Glad you are home safe. Night Sho! See you in the morning!

Firecracker: NO! CAN YOU BELIEVE HIM? HE TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS GIVEN TO HIM!

Me: STOP USING ALL CAPS!! No yelling at me. Look, it's not entirely unheard of. There are people who can transfer quirks, rare, but it happens.

I take a couple of bites of my food before my phone starts to buzz again.

Firecracker: You actually believe him?

Me: I'm proud of you, for not using all caps in a conversation. 🥲 I don't know. It can happen is all I am saying. I've seen it happen before, so why not. Look, take what he said with a grain of salt and sleep on it okay. If you want we can talk about it more tomorrow either at school or when you get home and want to talk privately.

I turn to Hitoshi who is simply chuckling to himself.

"What," I questioned, annoyed.

"You have two boyfriends now. Oh Seto is not going to like that," he teases.

"What am I not going to like," Seto says coming into the living area.

"That we have to fend for ourselves tonight and Hitoshi and I are already eating the leftovers," I explained glaring at Hito.

"Huh, I thought he said something about boyfriends," Seto said teasingly.

"Who has boyfriends," I hear dad's voice from his room.

"No one dad. Go back to sleep! They are just trying to rile you up," I yell towards him.

"Good answer Kathryn Aizawa," He yells back, causing the two boys with me to start laughing.

"Here, Seto. You can have the rest, I ate a bunch of snacks at school and I have homework to get done," I said while handing him my plate and moving over to the living room so I can spread everything out to work on. My phone buzzes again.

Firecracker: Fine. See you at school, Princess.

Me: See you at school, Firecracker! 😏

I work on the few assignments given to us by Mic, Ectoplasm, and Cementos. Midnight said no reason for homework when you have so precious lives to enjoy. 😉

I pack up my bag and shower before going to bed for the night. Tomorrow will be very interesting to watch with Bakugo and Midoriya.
