April 6th- age 14

Today I was walking around with my Uncle Toshinori to help with picking up groceries for gran and gramps. It was nice to just spend the day with him, in his normal form, me with my long black hair down in a loose braid. As we were walking out of the store we saw a sludge monster moving past us.

"Kairi, can you take some of these to your grandparents' home? I'm going to take care of this criminal," Toshinori stated, before transforming into All Might and running off with the bottles of cola.

I sigh in annoyance, knowing that my day with a family member I hardly see with school and their hero work. I was really looking forward to spending the day with him, and maybe getting in some training. I knew that he was partially retiring from hero work to be a teacher. He said he needed to find a person to inherit One for All. I'm sure there's many people who would want to get it, but I know there's someone who would be very deserving of it. I made it to my grandparents' home without Uncle Toshinori, and was questioned about where he was and what he was doing. All I could do was wait for him to come back, and hopefully be unharmed. It was several hours later when he arrived at the home, and was beyond tired to train with me today but tomorrow he was going to come get me for some training before school. I told him it was okay and waited for Seto to come over so I could go back to our apartment.

The next day I woke up early, dressed in my teal tracksuit ready to spend as much time as I could with my uncle. However, when I woke up and made my way into the kitchen, I noticed two additional members in the kitchen. One had dark black hair, the other blonde, but both very familiar to me.

"Dad, Seto. What are you two doing here," I questioned.

"I took the day off. I heard that there was a villain around yesterday, and All Might showed up to stop him. I knew that Uncle Toshinori was going to be spending the day with you, and it made me worry. I'm sure dad's reasoning is the same. Am I right," Seto states smiling and rushing over to me wrapping his arms around me.

"How are you always so energetic in the morning," dad states with slight annoyance, sipping on a cup of black coffee.

"It helps not staying up all night. You know, any rational person would have taken a nap after finishing a night shift of hero work," Seto says with a smart alec smirk on his face while looking over at dad, but keeping an arm around me.

"Ugh, and you've been spending too much time with that damn smart alec bird. He's starting to rub off on you," Dad states glaring at Seto.

"You're just mad that he keeps messing with you during the nights you both work. You know you could come back with some chicken or bird jokes, they are pretty easy to do. I occasionally leave bird seeds in a cup on his desk with a water bottle with a straw, and decorate his office with cage toys," Seto states, smiling and laughing to himself.

"Yeah you have been spending too much time with the bird brain," I state with a chuckle.

"See dad, Kare bear gets it," Seto states.

"Well isn't this a great surprise? I don't think we've had everyone here on a normal day of the week," uncle Toshinori stated, opening up the door of the apartment.

"Well we saw you on TV and knew that Kairi was with you. We were wanting to check in on Kairi, and see how things are going, plus it's been a while since we all had a family breakfast," Seto explained.

"It has been a while since we spent actual time to check-up on her. Texting and speaking on the phone doesn't really count, especially when someone doesn't really respond back. I took the day off after speaking with Nezu about my concerns," dad states.

"Yeah, Seto is really bad about messaging people back," I state with a smirk looking up at Seto.

"I think he means you, Kare bear," Seto says looking down at me.

"You really have no room to talk, Seto," dad states looking at the two of us.

"So dad, can we go out, maybe go into town and get lunch somewhere just you, Seto, and me, after I train with uncle Toshi this morning" I ask.

"Yeah we can. We need to talk about what your plans are for high school, and after that," dad states.

"YES," I shouted, jumping out of Seto's arms and running up to wrap my arms around my dad's shoulders.

"You are both way too energetic this morning. *Sigh* Guess it can't be helped, I did give you some good news," dad states. I chuckle and move to sit in my dad's lap like I used to as a kid.

"What are you doing, Kitten? You are too old for this," he tells me with annoyance.

"I mean, possibly, but I don't get to annoy you as much. I do really miss spending time with you, both of you. I get it, you are both busy with hero work and other things, but we really don't spend much time together anymore," I say looking down.

"I know, and I promise we are both going to take some time off and spend some time doing something fun, maybe going to the beach for a vacation, or going up to the mountains, maybe even both," Seto says, walking over to me placing his hand on my head rubbing my hair.

"Promise," I say looking up at my older brother.

"Promise, Kare-bear. Now sit in an actual chair and get some breakfast before you go off with Uncle Toshinori. Dad and I will probably take a small nap before you come back, and then head out for lunch and pick some things up for you since the next school year is coming up. I know you want to get into UA, but you do need some clothes and I know you want to pick up some tech things to work on," Seto says, sitting at the table and putting food on his plate.

"Yeah, yeah. I know. Who cooked this by the way," I asked looking at the food in question. I sat down between dad and Uncle Toshi.

"I did," Dad replied, "You and I both know Seto isn't allowed in the kitchen after last time".

"Hey, that was one time dad. I was too tired after a long mission. I forgot I was in the middle of cooking when I sat down at the counter and crashed. I said I was sorry," Seto said looking down at his plate.

"You are lucky your sister was here and was able to put the fire out before it became a big problem," Dad said with a pointed look.

"Yeah I know, dad. I will make it a point in the future to just go to bed and when I wake up I will eat a meal then, or pick something up on the way home," Seto stated.

"Good, because any rational person would have done that in the first place," dad replied with a smirk before taking a sip of his coffee. Uncle Toshi and I snickered at his comment and Seto simply jokingly glared at dad. When we finished eating Uncle Toshi and I left the apartment and made our way to the beach where we used to go as kids. On the way there Uncle Toshinori told me about a kid my age he ran into yesterday. He talked about how he saw him as the new pillar of peace and how he was going to take over One for All and he was going to start training him to help his body merge with his quirk. When we arrived at the beach the sun was just starting to rise. Trash covered the beach we used to enjoy as kids. Shame on people ruining nature. Uncle Toshi had me running on the walkway away from the beach while he found his new student. After I finished running about 12 kilometers using my normal speed, which took me about an hour, I dashed back using my flash quirk to my starting point in 3 seconds. I walked along the beach trying to find my uncle to let him know I was going to make my way home when I noticed him talking to a green haired boy.

"Hey unc... I mean All Might. I am heading home now," I said nodding over to him

"Ah, Kairi, come over here and meet Young Midoriya, my student," Uncle Toshinori stated, "Young Midoriya, this is my niece Kairi. She is also training to get into UA high".

"Hi, it's very nice to meet you. My name is Izuku Midoriya," the green haired boy stated.

"Hello, nice to meet you too Midoriya. I'm Kairi. I hope to be able to help with some of your training or be a part of it. Clearly it won't be the muscle part, but I will be doing some training with you. Probably just running and stuff to build up my endurance," I inform him with a smile.

"I will take all the help you can offer me. It's been my dream to get into UA and become a hero like All Might," Midoriya tells me.

"It's my dream to become a hero as well, like most of my family members, I just know you and I can do it. Don't worry about it and don't overwork yourself. Follow the schedule Uncle Toshinori made for you, it will work out for the best. I need to head home now to get my dad and brother up so we can spend the day together before they go back to work. Have a great rest of the day Midoriya and I hope to see you around. Bye Uncle Toshi, I will see you later this week," I said waving at both of them before heading off to my house to shower and clean up before waking up my dad and brother to enjoy the day we have to relax.

When I arrived home both my brother and dad were passed clean out in the living room. I smiled at the sight before moving to my room to grab my clothes for the day so I could shower. I walked back out of my room and went down the hall to the bathroom I share with Seto. I place my clothes down and begin to shower, washing the sweat and sand off of me from this morning's work out. These 10 months are going to fly by before Midoriya and I even know it. I hope he gets in, because then I would know someone for the first day, even if we aren't in the same class. After I finish washing up, I get out, get dressed in blue jeans and a periwinkle long sleeve shirt, dry my hair and walk out of the bathroom. I walk to the living room and see that Seto is no longer in there, but my dad has started sitting up.

"Good morning, Dad. Slept well," I questioned.

"It was a much needed nap. I'm glad I was able to get one in. How was training with Toshinori," he replied.

"It was good. I think working together with him will really help me to get into UA," I tell him.

"Good, though you can get in on recommendations as well, you know? I'm pretty sure you have plenty to get in," he says.

"Yeah, I know, but that is because of you, mom, Seto, and the rest of the family. I want to get in on my own, not because of who my family is," I say looking down, "I am thankful for everyone who believes in me and that they want to help out, but this is something I want to earn myself".

"You are so much like your mother in that way. Wanting to prove your worth by making a name for yourself. That's what she had done to become Elemental, she could have said she was All Might's little sister and be given the number 2 slot, but instead she worked on her own image and fought her own battles," dad says with a sad smile, "That's what I loved about her. Her desire of being her own person and proving her own worth".

"That our Kare bear all right," Seto says, coming up from behind me, placing his left arm around my shoulders.

"That it is. Come on you two, let's go grab some lunch before grabbing some items for the upcoming school year. It is Kairi's last year of middle school, let's make it special," dad tells us, standing up and walking over to us with a soft smile. I wish you were here for these moments of peace and happiness, Rei. You would be so proud of these two making their own paths to becoming heroes just like you.

"Come on, I already got the car ready and we can head out to Kairi's favorite place, Han's kitchen down in Shibuya before going out shopping for clothes and school items," Seto says looking down at me with a smile.

"Wait, really. We are going to Han's," I asked, looking at him excited, stars shining brightly in my natural hazel eyes.

"Yes, that's the plan but it was supposed to be a surprise," Dad says with a glare.

"Yeah, I know, but I wanted to see her face before we pulled up. I like being able to spoil my baby sister, I don't get to do it very often because of work. Before you say it, I am planning to get more time off to spend with you and dad. Already talked to Hawks and he said it was fine. Though I don't think he realizes that he will have to take on more paperwork than he likes, it would only be for the next year though. This way we can spend time before you start high school at UA," Seto explains. I squeal in delight with the new found information.

"Come on, let's get this show on the road. I'm so excited, I can't wait. Does that mean I can train more with you," I say, jumping up and down like an excited child.

"Yes, and I won't be holding back........... Well I will hold back a little," Seto states, feeling dad's glare on him.

"Come on, go get in the car. Let's stop wasting daylight and our day off," Dad says, walking past the both of us and out of the apartment.

"I would say race you to the car, but I have a feeling you would cheat," Seto says, moving away from me.

"It's not cheating to teleport or run super fast. They are part of my quirk," I tell him, walking towards the door of the apartment.

"Yeah, you're right, but still let's not cause any problems for dad for now. Later when we get back it's game on," Seto states walking in sync with me.

"Game on, big bro, game on," I say with a smile.

"Kids, you better not be plotting anything and making your way over to the car," we hear dad yell out. We both freeze in slight terror before making our eyes meet then running to the car, laughing on the way there.
