Chapter 2: All is broken
"Get back and away from the door. I'm going to kick it in," a muffled voice called out.
Understanding that I could be hurt if I didn't move quickly, I ran to the right side of my room, leaving the walkway from the door empty. The door shortly after was pushed into the wall opposite of it and dust clouded my room. I stood ready to run or fight if I needed to, waiting and listening incase I was to be attacked. The dust quickly cleared with a small gust of wind, all I could do was stare, mouth gaping, and be surprised at the sight before me.
In front of me stood my Uncle Toshinori along with my mom. I couldn't believe this was real life, I had to be dreaming. It has been 18 months since I arrived there, 18 months away from my family, 18 months away from people who truly cared for me, 18 months of being tortured, beaten, and abused hoping to push my quirks to their limits.
It took my mom a moment looking over at me before she came up and wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug. I could feel her tears getting the shirt I was wearing wet, and I could only allow the tears falling from my eyes.
"Erasure head, She's in here, we got her," I hear Uncle Toshinori yell out. Then while looking over my mother's shoulders I saw him enter, my dad. I could feel even bigger tears falling from my eyes, as he cautiously took steps towards my small figure, my eyes following his every move. My mom moved back allowing some space between our bodies, before I quickly felt my dad drop onto his knees pull me into an even tighter hug than my moms. I immediately wrapped my arms around his neck, holding on to his scarf as tight as I could. My dad was always the one person I was closest to growing up, the one I could count on to fight the monsters of the night away.
"Shota, can you carry her out? It'll be easier for you with your scarf, to get her out safely. Toshi and I will hold them off, while you keep her safe," my mom said looking down at me.
"Mommy, you need to come with us," I tell her, looking up at her. I was still short and weighed practically nothing due to loss of nutrients during my stay there. Dad lifted me into his arms, holding onto me tightly and securely.
"Kathryn, I will be right behind you and your dad. I need to help your uncle with stopping anyone from coming after you until we get you to a safe place. I need you to help me with keeping your dad safe, you know how he can be when he gets tired. Can you be my little hero, and keep him safe for me," my mom explained to me, hoping that I would agree and go with my dad without a fight. I nodded my head, and unconsciously read her mind. All I could hear on repeat is I will do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
"Yes momma. I'll keep daddy safe, I promise," I tell my mom looking into her eyes.
"Good, I'll see you when this is over okay," Mom said looking back into my eyes.
My dad and mom stared at each other for a long time before everyone took off out of my room. My mom and Uncle Toshinori went left and dad with me securely in his arms when right. Dad was running down the hall, taking all sorts of lefts and rights as if he knew his way around the compound. He kept looking down at me, as if checking to make sure I was still within his arms. He went down one hallway and I felt him stop dead in his tracks. I moved my face away from his neck and turned to look at what made him stop. In front of him stood several men that I knew from my time in this place. While I knew I couldn't beat them all I knew for a fact my dad could, especially if I could help him.
"Kit, I'm going to need you to hold on to me extra tightly, okay. I have you wrapped up already, but I need you to do this for me, okay," he said looking down at me. I nodded my head and leaned my head back into my dad's left shoulder and my arms wrapped tight.
Dad took off dodging attacks and using the other end of his scarf to keep them away from touching me. I could tell he had his Erasure quirk activated because I knew what quirk these men had and that they were best at short range attacks. I kept my head up to keep my eyes trained to watch my dad's back and protect him from a dirty attack. As dad made his way through the men he kept pushing forward towards our freedom. I would feel his hair tickling my face as it rose and fell with the use of his quirk, but I knew I couldn't be distracted or it would mean the end of our escape. As he kept pushing forward he would leave the men from in front of us knocked out cold on the floor behind us.
One of those men, Kenji, had the same quirk I did, recovery. I kept my eyes trained on him, hoping that with my Erasure quirk I could stop him from recovering as quickly as he normally did.
We were more than half way down the fall when I saw some of the men behind us starting to rise up and start fighting again. While my dad is best at sneaking past and stealth, he is also really good at hand to hand combat. I knew this was not his best style of fighting, but he could manage himself. I also knew that he was getting tired as his quirk was being activated at shorter intervals. I gripped tighter onto the back of my dad's black shirt with my right hand, as I raised my left hand and made the people behind us fly back into the wall at an alarmingly fast rate, but this also propelled my dad forward without my meaning too. This however, while not ideal, worked in my dad's favor, as it was able to put in a little extra strength into the punch he was delivering. I could feel his eyes wavering to me for a split moment as if making sure I was still attached to him, before he focused back on the task at hand getting us out of there.
I kept my eyes trained on the people behind me, but seeing the damage done to the wall behind them I knew they weren't going to be getting up anytime soon. I did sneak a quick glance up front to see how many were left, only to realize that just one stood in our way. This man, Mirkou, was the toughest person I had to fight against. He could invade your thoughts and change them, make you see things that aren't there, make you do things you don't want to, or make your body shut down against your will. However, if you can see past what he is doing or know he has entered your mind you can stop him. You have to be quicker than he is, but it is still manageable.
I kept my eyes trained on him, when I saw him getting ready to move against us, I quickly activated my Erasure quirk. I could tell he knew my dad had as well because he stopped moving and did the one thing I know he does when he is tired or can't attack, run his mouth. My dad didn't move, because he wasn't sure what this man's quirk does, he didn't answer either. Just stared at him waiting to see what he was going to do.
"Oh, so you're this little brat's dad. Interesting, she has her mother's quirk, but she looks almost like the spitting image of you. I mean who could deny she was the daughter of the number 6 Pro-hero Elementalist, her quirk is just the same as her mothers. Controlling all 4 of the elements is a pretty rare gift. Now, you on the other hand, you could probably deny she's your daughter Erasure. I mean while she looks like you, she's much weaker. I mean what kind of parent's are you, not training your kid to fight at such a young age. Well....fight well that is. She could do some basic fighting, but I mean the child of highly ranked Pro-Heroes. You both should have known that she was going to be targeted, I mean especially after it was made known she developed your wife's quirk. You are married to Elementalist, aren't you? I wanna know, how did you get with someone like her......oh.....looks like your quirk has reached its limit. Now, let me show you how things are going to play out, if you don't mind," Mirkou smirked knowing that my dad needed breaks between uses of his quirk.
What he didn't know was that I had developed my dad's quirk as well, and that I could keep mine activated longer, even blinking twice (the third time deactivating it), than my dad could without the side effects of dry eyes. Mirkou, nor any of the other men in the facility, knew I had developed this quirk. I never used it out of knowing that if Mr. Shigaraki knew I had this quirk, he would see the need to take it from me. I knew that was his plan, the doctor told me it, which is why he often experimented on me after I lost the fights, trying to trigger me to use it.
I could see Mirkou's movements falter in confusion. Dad took this to his advantage and attacked him, quickly knocking him unconscious. Dad looked at me this time, he stared at me face to face, I could tell he was upset about me using my quirk, but happy I was there to help him out.
"You always manage to surprise me, don't you Kitten. Come on, one last hallway and we're out of here," he tells me with a softness to his voice. I smile up at him and nod my head. He quickly starts running again, and turns right at the end of the hallway. There I see a massive hole in the wall, Uncle Toshi's doing I can only assume. As dad exits the compound, he runs into the forest I didn't know surrounded the area. As we get close to a clearing I see a group of people tense and waiting around. I can only see one small white head clearly, Nezu.
"Mid, come grab her. I'm going back in to help get everyone out," my dad voiced out to the group, as we approached. I could see a woman clearly with Indigo colored hair approach me. I tensed in my dad's arm's and gripped on to his shirt tighter with fear. I looked over the rest of the people in the group. I noticed some familiar faces from my dad's school, along with some not familiar faces that I knew met. I was terrified of the unknowns, there were very few people I could feel safe around even before I was kidnapped. I kept my grip on my dad's shirt, as he tried to hand me off to the Indigo haired woman.
"Kitten, you have to let go, and go with Midnight. She will keep you safe, I promise you. I need to go get your mom and All might out of there before something bad happens," dad stated. I stared up at his face, and refused to let go.
"Kathryn, how about you come with me," a familiar voice called out. I looked towards where the voice came from and saw a blonde man come forward.
"Okay, how about you go with Mic," dad said nodding his head towards the blonde. I looked over at the man. He wore an all black outfit, his hair gelled back looking like a parrot, yellow glasses covered his eyes from me, and a metallic piece was around his neck.
"Come on little one, it's me, do you remember me," the man said, coming closer, "Ah, I know look see, how about now". He lifted his glasses up from his nose and showed off his very unique greenish yellow eyes. Uncle Hiza. I then leapt from my dad's arms into my uncle's.
"Seems like she does, I guess with us in our hero costumes, she doesn't really recognize some of us," stated the Indigo hair woman.
"Okay, you are in charge of her now. I'm going to pull back All Might and Ele. Nighteye, do you know where they're located," dad called out. From within the group a tall figure wearing glasses with green and yellow hair came out. He looked into my dad's eyes, before answering.
"No, I lost communication with All Might about 5 minutes before you showed up. Last I heard he found All For One, and they were talking, shortly after that there was a loud crashing noise and I haven't heard anything more. His tracker and Elementalists' are offline, and when they were last online, they were at the complete other side of the compound and going into the wooded area behind it. They could be anywhere in those woods by now, it would be best to wait until we have a better idea of what's going on," the figure stated, pushing up his glasses.
Suddenly there was a very big and bright white light that came from the direction where my mom and All Might were supposed to be. Shortly after that light there was a loud booming noise and a huge gust of wind came knocking everyone off of their feet and back several feet. I was even knocked out of Uncle Hiza's arms and into a tree several feet away from everyone else. When the light went away everyone jumped up at once, my dad went to Hiza's figure and his eyes widened in fear, before he looked over to my small figure that laid against a tree some ways back from everyone.
"Mic, Nezu, get Kathryn out of here and to the hospital to get her checked out. I'm going to see what has happened with the rest of the group," dad called out.
"Shota, I think it would be bett-," Uncle Hiza started, but stopped when he saw the look my dad was giving him. It was a look that said, keep her safe for me.
"We will get her to Recovery Girl, and keep a watchful eye on her. I will have Seto sent over as well to help keep familiar faces around her. While she seems fine now, I fear that there are still some traumas she has endured that will leave her weary of strangers. We will keep her safe, isn't that right, Present Mic," Nezu spoke.
"Yeah, I will take her to safety, but as soon as I get her to Recovery Girl, I'm coming find you buddy," Uncle Hiza stated. He came over to me and picked me up wrapped his arms around me and started taking off with Nezu not far behind towards the opposite end of where the explosion had happened. It felt like hours before I was placed down into a car and it started driving off into the city. In the front was the number 7 hero, Best Jeanist, driving his way through the city towards a nearby hospital. When we pulled in, Hiza grabbed me and brought me in through the back. He knocked on the door 4 times before the door opened and a elderly woman opened the door and looked up towards me. Recovery Girl.
"Come on, get in, get in. I already have Se-," she started before a gust of wind and blonde hair made its presence known. Before me stood my youngest protector, my best friend, and my only sibling, Seto Oboro Aizawa.
"Kairi, is that you. Uncle Hizashi, give her over to me. Is dad with you, where's mom and Uncle Toshinori," his questions coming out like rapid fire.
"I'm not too sure kiddo, but I'm going to check on them now. I wanted to get her out of there as quickly as possible and here with you before I went to check on everyone else. I can trust you to keep your eyes on her, right Seto," Hizashi stated, handing me off to my big brother.
"Yeah, you got it Uncle Hizashi. Bring them back please," Seto stated.
"I'll do my best kiddo, but you know the deal, no promises," Hizashi stated before turning back out of the building and back into the car where Jeanist stayed. I was placed into a hospital gown and only Seto, Recovery girl, 2 nurses, and Gran Torino were allowed into my room.
Seto stayed with me until the next evening when Uncle Hizashi entered the room. He was covered in dirt, ash, and some blood. His eyes looked sad, and he seemed like he was going to fall apart at any moment. All I could hear was She's gone, how do I tell these kids that their mother is gone. I saw the images of my mom's body flashing within his mind. She was mangled and bleeding, her eyes staring out into space, but a smile was etched onto her lips. Kneeling down by her was my dad, he was distraught in appearance, and rightfully so. The love of his life was gone, but she died knowing that I was safe and away from the dangers that surrounded me.
"Where's mom and dad," Seto asked. Our uncle flinched at the question. I can't tell them, Shota has to. I heard the voice start again.
"She's gone, Seto. Isn't that right Uncle Hiza," I voiced out. My wide blue eyes meet our uncle's greenish yellow ones, and he froze in his movements.
"What do you mean she's gone? Kathryn, you can't say things like that without knowing what that means," Seto states angrily. I turn my gaze onto Seto.
"Don't call me Kathryn. I know what I said, I heard Uncle Hiza say it. He said she's gone, I saw all the images of her and dad leaning over her. I saw everything Uncle Hiza saw," I tell my older brother. I look back over to our uncle who is now completely frozen in place. His eyes wide, tears streaming down them, and a mix of sadness and horror shown within. He knew I didn't have a mind reading ability when he last saw me all those months ago, he knew I couldn't have known or said about what he had seen without that type of quirk. If only he knew the true horrors I have seen during my time away.
"Katr-," Seto starts.
"No, no, no. Please, don't call me Kathryn. I'm telling you Seto, I saw it. Everything. Mom, dad, Uncle Toshi. I know he's still alive, but barely. I know that Dad is outside with Recovery Girl looking for an update. I know that mom is dead, she died trying to get me back home. She should have just left me there," I stated with each word my voice getting louder, "I shouldn't even be here, I should be locked away never to be seen again. I should be dead, not her". The items in the room began to shake around me, though no one seemed to notice.
"Kat-," This time Hizashi starts to speak.
"No, no, no. No more Kathryn. I shouldn't be here, not when mommy's dead. She died trying to get me back. That's not right, if she had just left me she would still be here," I yell out. Things are now starting to move around the room and the walls of the room started to shake.
"Ari, calm down. Please you are going to cause this place to collapse if you keep this up," Seto said looking at me hoping to catch my eyes.
"How can I be calm, when mommy isn't here anymore and it's all my fault," I start.
"That's not tr-," Seto tries.
"It is. It is really true. They were only after me because they knew who my parents were. They knew I had gotten both of their quirk, and they knew that I have the potential to surpass them both. It's my fa-," I scream out, tears falling freely down my face now.
"It's not your fault, little one," a voice spoke softly. I felt two strong arms wrap around me, and the movement of items within the room stopping instantly and the items crashing to the group.
"I know this is hard right now, but I need you to take some deep breaths for me. Come on little one, take some deep breaths with me. One ... .two....three," the voice states again.
"I-I-I," my voice shakes.
"Yes you can, little kitten. Here give me your hand," the voice states before taking my hand and placing it against something smooth but firm, "Make your breaths match mine".
I took a very shaky breath in following the movement of the item against my hand.
"Good girl, okay not let's take another one," the voice states again. I felt the movement again as the person's chest rose with an intake of a breath. I tried to take in a breath again, but all I could do was shake and shut my eyes tighter.
"Come on little one, you can do it. You just need to follow my movements long deep breaths," the calm voice stated. They held their hand tighter against mine keeping it firmly placed on their chest. I felt the chest rise again and I took another shaky breath to follow theirs.
"Good now, keep following my breaths," the voice called out. I took another breath in to match theirs, this one less shaky, but not even like theirs. I kept following their breaths and after 6 deep breaths I was able to take breaths that were even from start to finish.
"Good job, now can you open those eyes wide for me. I want to see those gorgeous blue eyes, I know and love," the voice I could recognize as my dad's spoke. I opened my eyes, blinking them twice. In front of me was black fabric with a white cloth up at the top, my dad's colors. I looked up at my dad's face.
"There's my little girl," he says with concern written in his eyes, "Can you tell me what's wrong"?
"Seto was asking Uncle Hiza about everyone, but Uncle Hiza wasn't answering him. So I told him what I heard in Uncle Hiza's mind," I told my dad.
"Kathyrn, you don't have a mind reading quirk. What do you mean you heard it in Hizashi's mind," dad questioned, I stiffened at my name being said. I could see a deeper expression of confusion written on his face. I could feel myself getting ready to panic again.
"Deep breaths Kathryn," dad states, but I only begin to panic more. I can feel the winds picking up in the room again.
"Kat, calm down and deep breaths," dad states again. The winds start to move faster and harder around the room.
"Dad she's freaking out because of her name," Seto called out.
"Kitten calm down, you're safe here. Daddy's got you, and I'm not letting go of you any time soon, so deep breaths in and out," Dad said smoothly. I started to calm down as did the winds in the room.
"Good. Can you tell me what happened? I don't remember you having a mind reading quirk, little one," Dad questioned, he held me tightly in his arms, making me feel safe.
"Mr. Shigaraki gave it to me. He said he also gave me a quirk that lets me copy things I see," I explained. I could feel dad's grip on me getting tighter as he pulled me closer to him. I heard a slight sniffle and his face in my hair.
"Oh, that's a really cool quirk there," he murmured.
"Not really, It's really scary sometimes. I can use your quirk dad, though I don't really know how it works. I didn't want to use it while I was there," I explained softly.
"That's okay Kitten. I'm glad you were so brave and smart while you were there. Your mom and I are so proud of you and we're happy you are back here safe with us," dad states with a slight tremble to his voice.
"But mommy isn't with us," I state, gripping onto my dad's shirt tightly.
"Yeah, but before she passed, she told me to tell you how glad she is that you made it back to us and that you will always be kept safe from now on. We love you, and wouldn't change a thing about what happened last night as long as that meant you came back home to us. Your mom wants you to remember that, this was not your fault and that she loved you and your brother with everything she had. Can you do that for me, princess," Dad states. I nod my head in agreement.
"Where is Uncle Toshi," I ask.
"He's just coming out of surgery, and before he went in he wanted me to make you aware that you are the first person he wants to see and he's requesting the world's biggest hug from his favorite niece," dad states.
"I'm his only niece," I state with a smile.
"All the more reason he needs the world's biggest hug from you," dad says with a chuckle.
"So no more Kat or Kathryn. What do you want everyone to call you now? Kitten, no only I can call you that. Kit Kat, nope you've said only Touya can call you that. Hmmmm, princess, no only me or Aunt Nemuri can call you that, huh. Hmmmmmmmm, what to call you," dad ponders.
"You could call her Kairi, like I do," Seto states.
"Yeah, Kairi. Like Seto calls me," I say pulling back and looking up at my dad's face.
"Kairi, it is then. So Kairi, are you hungry? We have a few more hours before Uncle Toshinori is ready for visitors. We have some visitors who want to see you, if you're up for it," Dad askes.
"Can I eat something first? Oh can it be what I want to eat," I ask, eyes lighting up at the thought of eating my favorite meal.
"If the hospital doesn't have it, Hizashi can go get it. I'm not letting you or your brother out of my site anytime soon," Dad states.
"Can I get some fried chicken and fries, no no no wait, pizza. A cheese pizza or what is it that Seto likes on his......oh yeah a meats pizza. Can Seto and I get a big meats pizza, please daddy," I state nearly jumping out of the bed.
"Yes Hizashi can get you a meats pizza to share with Seto, if Seto wants some," Dad states, smiling looking over at me and then to my brother.
"Yeah dad, anything beats this hospital food," Seto says walking over. He sits on the bed next to me and dad and wraps his right arm around my shoulder.
"Okay that's settled then. Hizashi is in charge of getting the meal. In the meantime, Recovery Girl is going to heal you up some more and then you have some people who really seemed to miss you," Dad tells me.
"Okay, hop to it Uncle Zashi. Please," I ask him with a goofy smile.
"Alright, alright, I'll get right on it little princess Kairi," he says smiling back though it doesn't quite reach his eyes. He then turns and heads out the room, hopefully on his way to go get pizza.
"I'll text Recovery Girl to let her know you're ready. I don't want to leave you two just yet okay," dad tells us.
"That's okay, but can you check on Uncle Toshi when everyone else comes to visit," I ask looking up at my dad's face.
"You got it princess, your wish is my command," dad states with a smile on his face. Shortly after Recovery Girl comes in and gives me some kiss to help heal up my broken arm and ribs. She even gave me an extra kiss for being her sweetest patient in the hospital and told me to keep being the kind little girl she loves seeing around the halls of UA. Dad thanked her for healing me up and told her to let in my visitors who wanted to see me.
The first people to walk in were the Todoroki's, well Natsuo, Fuyumi, and Shoto I think his name was. I never really got to see him or hang out with him when I went over there his dad kept him away from everyone else. Fuyumi practically ran up to me and wrapped me up in her arms, in a tight hug. After that dad walked out, but told Natsuo to come get him when they were about to leave, he was going to be 3 doors down the hall seeing my uncle. When I noticed that Touya was missing everything got really sad and Fuyumi told me he died a few weeks after I went missing Fuyumi brought Shoto up to me to introduce us, for an official first meeting. Natsuo stayed back with Seto and talked with him. Shoto was very shy, blunt, and liked to ask a lot of questions. Some of which were about Touya, most about my abilities, and some about me. We were just about the same age, I was a few months younger than him, and he seemed to be much more of an adult than I was.
After about a half an hour Uncle Zashi showed up with the pizza and walked off to get my dad so we could eat. The Todorko's ended up leaving shortly after Uncle Zashi's arrival, but promised to come back and visit again tomorrow. I really missed having Touya around, I knew he would try to make me smile and would refuse to leave my side, despite what his dad's punishment would be.
"You okay, Kar," Seto asked.
"Yeah, I just miss Touya, you know," I tell him. Seto came over to me and sat on the bed wrapping his arms around me.
"Hey, I'm sure if he was still here then he'd be here with us. He might have even been there to help with getting you back home. You know he'd be about 18 now, and be a force to be reckoned with, if it meant keeping you safe," Seto states with a sad smile.
"Yeah, I know. I really miss him, Seto. I miss momma too," I tell him, moving deeper into Seto's embrace.
"I know Kare bear, but they would be super proud of you. They would encourage you to use your gifts to become a hero like Uncle Toshinori. One who smiles and keeps moving forward to save others. But like always the choice is yours and yours alone, don't forget that," Seto says, kissing the top of my head.
"He's right, the choice to be a hero is yours, and the kind of hero you want to be is yours as well. Whether a hero in the spotlight like your mom and uncle, or an underground hero like myself," Dad says walking into the room.
"Dad, how's uncle Toshinori," Seto asks after seeing our dad.
"He's good. He was just waking up when I started coming over to see you, and eat some dinner. The nurse's and the doctor's are with him now doing check-ups. He's still really weak, and isn't up for visits at this time, but when he is I will take you both over to see him. For now, let's eat before the pizza gets cold," Dad says. He pulls some plates from behind him and walks over to the boxes and starts dispensing the pizza out to Seto and me. Seto and I sat back in the bed and left room for dad to sit on the other side of me, leaving me in the middle.
Looking back at that moment, I'm not sure if there was a moment like that again with all three of us just snuggled in together. It was the safest I had felt in a while. Seto was 16 at the time and working on his second year at UA High's Heroes Course. He already had plans on opening up his own agency with a friend he had made while in the Commission's heroes program when he graduated. Dad still worked as an underground hero and taught at the High School where Seto went. This often left Seto and myself home alone with either Uncle Hazahi or Toshinori, or the occasional Nezu. I was still in elementary school at the time, working my way into middle school, but I had a lot of classes I had missed during my kidnapping. Mr. Nezu had pulled some strings and had me tested to see if I had really missed anything during my time away, and to make sure I was placed in a class according to my knowledge. Unsurprisingly I tested well beyond what my age group was learning, and dad opted to have me homeschooled so I could work at my own pace, but still have assistance when I needed it with a tutor.
I often visited the Todoroki household when I got bored, or just to get out of the house. This time making it a point to see Shoto, and spend time with him. Endeavor was out of the house alot, and Shoto was often left alone to do his home studies. Oftentimes, we would do our work together and check each other's work for mistakes. One time I was leaving their house and noticed someone by Touya's shrine, but just as I saw them they were gone. I dashed outside and didn't see anyone on the grounds, but when I made it to the street I saw an unruly mop of familiar white hair.
"Touya," I whispered. As if the person heard me, they started moving faster. I ran to catch up to them, hoping that to catch a glimpse at a face I missed so much.
"Touya," I yelled out, running faster to catch up, sadly the person started running as well, "Touya, wait up, please stop running".
The figure turned down an alleyway and I lost them in the darkness. Was it all my imagination?
I tried to sense the person's mind around me, hoping to catch a small glimpse to follow the trail. The only thing I could hear was a simple Sorry, but it's better this way. I could feel what was left of my mind crumbling, being taken over by the sadness I've been pushing away. It was hours later when Seto found me, I was still lying on the floor in the alleyway, crying. I told him what transpired and he told dad. Dad decided that it would be best if I got some help.
My dad decided it was best for me to live with my mom's parents in America for a while. This was to get a fresh start, and kept away from the dangers of being in Japan where villains would try to take me again. Shortly before I moved Mr. Nezu gave me some bracelets to help with my quirks. I often wore these bracelets he called quick dampening bracelets, in case I would lose control of my quirks. Often I would just do my homework or watch TV. I watched superhero shows, one called Young Justice and another called X-men. I liked some of the abilities that I saw on the shows. One being from a man named Flash. He was super fast, and at one point ran so quick he went back into time. Another being Kitty Pryde, she could move through walls. The last one was Kurt Wagner, also known as Nightcrawler, he could teleport and stick to any surface. I probably shouldn't have but I learned how to use their abilities, which is why I had to wear the bracelets, mainly when I was sleeping. I had started phasing through the floors or teleporting in my sleep scaring my grandparents, or if I had a nightmare and planted the images in their heads.
During my 4 years away, My dad was spending more time at UA and patrolling in the evenings. Seto spent his last year interning with Nighteye to see how to run a Hero Agency. I had made a name for myself in America becoming a well known artist called Keiko Yagi. I worked hard in school and eventually decided that I wanted to become a hero like my mom, dad, brother, and uncles. I spoke with my dad and grandparents and we decided that I would spend my last year before high school back in Japan. I had plans on going to UA since I was a child playing hero and villains with my dad.
When I moved to Japan for the last 2 years of middle school at Nabu Middle School where I met a boy with purple hair. He often reminded me of my dad with his manners, and his despise of a certain loud mouthed hero. Maybe that's why we hit it off so well. He was like having another brother around, one who loved to egg me on into an argument. I had moved back in with my dad and brother. My dad stayed home every night, and just taught full time at UA and Seto began staying home on the weekends to spend time with me, while dad worked on the weekend nights. Neither one wanted me left alone for any amount of time. We were finally all together and happy, just like mom would have wanted.
Even with the men of my household taking shifts and resting during their times at home, I never felt alone, and made it a point to continue training with my quirks. When dad was home I would train with him to use the Erasure quirk, though my was different from his. I could manage multiple people at one time and hold it until I blinked three times. When Seto came over I trained with air and earth, and occasionally Erasure as well. Seto had developed the erasure quirk like me later on, and it was only slightly stronger than dad's. He could stop multiple quirks at once, but like dad if he blinked it would be deactivated. Seto's hair would stand up as well, but he wore a hood and made sure to keep it up and over his hair when he was using his quirk. Seto wouldn't get dry eyes, but he did lessen his time between activations like our dad.
When Uncle Toshinori would come over I would practice with my other quirks, like my speed, teleporting, and moving through objects. It was mainly to avoid getting hit, but if I did I would be healed in about an hour and just be a bit sore for a day or two depending on the injury. Shinso and I would train as well, though it was mainly hand to hand combat, no quirks of course. We both knew who would end up winning in that match. This allowed me to realize I can only store up to 6 extra quirks besides the ones I was born or forcefully given with in my memories to use. I kept the moving through objects, speed, teleport, force field, and a copy of all of one's (but it was out of safety, he didn't know I was able to copy it over the time I was with him). I always kept a slot open incase I wanted another one at a later time.
During our last months of middle school Shinso and I trained extra hard, often away from each other to make sure that just in case we were fighting against each other we could have some surprise attacks against the other. We both wanted to get into UA's hero course, on even ground. I was given recommendations from most of the Pro-Heroes, coming in 3rd for most recommendations. However I declined that, saying I wanted to make it on my own. Which everyone accepted though Uncle Toshinori made sure to know that I had earned those recommendations on my own.
Seto was now in his 2nd year of being a Pro-Hero and had teamed up with the 3rd Ranked Pro-Hero Hawks to create Hawks Agency. Seto stated he didn't want to be the main face, nor want his name on the agency. He was making his own way as a Hero called Rock Master, ranked number 11 on the hero billboard charts. He wore a mask and hood and kept his identity a secret. Though Hawks knew who he was outside of the costume, he respected Seto's privacy. All that Hawks knows about Seto has a younger sister, who is looking to become a hero as well. One that will one day give it everything she has to make sure that her loved ones have a better future in the coming years.
